It's good to know that out of 2177 participants (that are registered voters in Harris polls and were online during one particular week of the year) 891 of them follow baseball and that more of them like the Yankees than the Red Sox. I can't believe with all the talk of "Sample Size" around here that anybody would give this too much credence though.

I would agree with Ben that the Yankees would probably win the alternate poll as well (Sample sizes be damned I say!), but that simply means they are doing something right because they continue to keep their fan base happy, and piss off the fan bases of their opponents.

"You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." So... what that make you? Good? You're not good. You just know how to hide, how to lie. Me, I don't have that problem."

Thats why the sox will never be the top team in america at least in baseball.

Why? For the simple fact that they don't have the yanks history and the championships.

One more thing, The yanks are #1 cuz the yanks are the villain.

Every sport needs a villain. Cuz the villain is really the top franchise and is also the most love and has the most fans.

Same with Football with the Cowboys, and the same with the Celtics/Lakers in basketball and the same with the Canadians in Hockey.

Yankees=Heath Leger playing the Joker.
