I recently spoke to a scout that said he clocked Daniel Bard’s fastball at 105mph and saw him beat out Clay Buchholz in a foot race. And as far as we know, Clay Buchholz is the only person alive who has ever beaten Jacoby Ellsbury in a foot race. Interestingly enough, Jacoby Ellsbury was clocked going 3rd to home faster than Bard’s fastball. Needless to say, this is a Red Sox team ripe with players that may – one day – reach the level of a Dustin Pedroia type athlete.
