I’m kind of wondering:

Are the Yankees more afflicted by serious elbow injuries than most organizations, because it seems that way? And, if that is the case, is it dumb luck or a systemic problem where the mechanics are not being taught/reinforced properly?

How does this statement contradict the statement, “TJS can make guys throw harder.” TJS means repairing (actually replacing) a damaged ligament.

So:

A damaged ligament can lead to diminished velocity, and a repaired ligament can increase that velocity. TJS repairs the ligament, therefore TJS can be the reason for increased velocity.

If I’m not missing something, it seems to me that when someone says TJS can increase velocity, it’s perfectly sound. Now, regarding morons who say that anyone can have TJS and thus can gain velo are dumb. The surgery only increases velo if the ligament is in fact damaged in the first place. I dont think the “increased velo” thing is a meme. And obviously it’s not exact/a sure thing, every guy/arm is different, and rehab exercises can also be part of the reason for increased velocity. But in general, it’s sound.

And Chris Garcia but he is injured always. Just means we have nice reinforcements in 2011 and with all the college pitchers we drafted, now we dont have a crowd problem.

Why is anyone shocked? Young pitcher break down. Its a fact of life. That is why you have 20+ legit arms. You may have 2 hit. Maybe 4 if you’re lucky. You keep restocking.

No, there’s actually two (2) solid explanations for the “TJS makes you throw harder” meme.

1) It’s easier to generate velocity with a repaired ligament, as opposed to the previously frayed or damaged ligament
2) The rehab process strengthens the arm, and the pitcher may not have been doing those exercises pre-TJS
