so I just watched the Yankees bat with the bases loaded and 0 out FML

    oh wait sorry wrong site

  • Jonas Fester

Ransom is just so overmatched. it’s time to get rid of him, no reason Shelly should have been sent down. Harriston can do w/e ransom can expect play 1B. Shelly/swisher/hinske could all do that on a Tex day off.

You can mock it, but it’s true. Hinske doesn’t.

    • carmelo

wow joe…thats the worst thing i eva saw u do…..how does ransom hit there??

    • Jose

I agree 100%. Shelley Duncon, Steve Fisher, and Eryk Henske are all better bench options.

  • Salty Buggah

    cmon Royals! beat TB

  • Drew

I’m puzzled at leaving Ransom in. I’d rather see Matsui and Damon vs a lefty or Hinske. I really don’t know what Joe was thinking.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Yeah, I defended the decision to start Ransom over Hinske (because it was sound and logical), but he should have been lifted there. He looked bad in the first two AB’s, and it was a big spot where offense was needed and Hinske’s a bigger hitter.

      Bad call.

  • claybeez

Is Girardi on crack? DFA Ransom now and take away the pipe.

  • Accent Shallow

And Jeter boots it. It’s just been that kind of game.

I don’t want Ransom DFAed, I want him outright released. He’s completely worthless.

  • Ivan

Agreed Mike. Ransom is basically an automatic out there. Where’s Matsui?

  • GG

    What is he talking about???

Did the Yankees forget how to play baseball? Just one game without a freaking error that ends up costing them 3 runs.

I don’t mind them losing but losing because they are playing like the Nationals is unacceptable.

    • Joebrah

that was the single dumbest thing i’ve ever heard a broadcaster say.

Fox is really just brutally bad.

“10 men went up to bat in the 2nd inning, 6 of them scored”.

BTW, why is Ransom still on this team? Seriously. He’s an out and error machine. He brings absolutely nothing to the table. He is unquestionably detrimental to the team.

and to not pinch-hit for him there? i can’t even fathom it.

  • Salty Buggah

    Sox: 5-11 with RISP
    Yanks: 1-9

2-3 more hit with RISP and we would be pretty close to being tied

  • GG

I feel really bad for some kid out there who is watching this broadcast and trying to learn something about baseball

  • DCR

Is there any reason at all that Ransom is still on this team? He is awful in every aspect of the game. Hairston fills the role of ‘guy who can’t hit but can field and play all over’ now. And Ransom is going to have to hit the road when Gardner comes back anyway. Why is he still on the team? At least Duncan might run into a HR or two. Every time Ransom hits or takes the field it makes me want to throw my television through a wall.

    • Accent Shallow

I tend to agree. He’s replacement level or worse as a hitter, which is only acceptable if he’s a great defender/baserunner, which he isn’t. If they want someone who can’t hit, at least make sure he can field.

  • Riddering

Whoa. We haven’t won a game against the BoSox this year? How come no one has mentioned that before?!

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

We still have several games before that series starts.

      Momentum is tomorrow’s starting pitcher.

  • bebop

Why is Cody Ransom on this team, let alone in the lineup?

  • Zack

simple answer, you play your best players. VMart and Youk play everyday. the other guys fill in.

    • Ivan

If your a sox sure. As a yankee fan, I would love for the sox take ab’s from V-mart and give it Lowell and Ortiz and Varitek.

  • Riddering

  • scottvic47

We are the best team ever at getting opposing pitchers off the hook. .216 with RISP is super, that’s how you win ball games.

So if Girardi has all this flexibility now, why was Ransom hitting in that spot?

    • cjc

letting him hit there is border line irresponsible

    • Accent Shallow

Team is hitting .261 with RISP, which isn’t great, but certainly isn’t dire.

  • Lanny

Another great move by Girardi in letting Ransom bat. But why is Ransom even on this team with Hairston doing exactly what he does? Especially since the team has no backup CF.

Cashman doing great stuff. Without a blank check hes utterly clueless.

Someone has to fill that all important Clay Bellinger role I speak of so often. A Yankees team without Cody Ransom is not a Yankees team that I can support. You can take your wins and clutch hits and stick em where the sun don’t shine, which coincidentally is wherever Cody Ransom happens to be standing.

Why does Joe have two rally killers batting back to back – Posada couldn’t drive in a run right now even if there was no one on the field.

    • Mike Pop

      Well, I bet he could.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

“Posada couldn’t drive in a run right now even if there was no one on the field.”

You’re saying he couldn’t hit a home run? You may want to rephrase your statement.

      • charlespoet

Um, not right now he couldn’t. He would squib it back to the pitcher.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Because Joe isn’t going to overreact needlessly. Posada and Cano are good hitter. Calm down.

      • cjc

Cano’s avg with risp would beg to differ with you there that said you don’t have to shufle the lineup as Cody I hit lefties Ransom proves you can’t hide a guy 9th

      • charlespoet

Yes, they are good hitters who are ineffective with RISP. They should not be batting back to back.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

        To both of you:

You don’t fill out a lineup based on RISP averages. That’s silly.

        • charlespoet

You are absolutely correct. That would be silly.

But you don’t fill out a line up card knowing that the potential for runs will diminish by putting ineffective hitters with RISP back to back. Also, for the year, Posada’s average is progressively worse as the game goes on.

And as a #5 hitter he is hitting a powerful .189.

          • Accent Shallow

Somehow I doubt his “average as a #5 hitter” is indicative of what he’s going to do going forwards.

Although it’s possible that he’s a true talent .189 hitter and he’s been playing over his head forever.

  • dkidd

  • charlespoet

Model of efficiency – Yankees with RISP.

Now, kids watching at home, as you will see by observing the Yankees, if you can’t hit a home run, you at least have to kill a rally. Getting a timely hit with RISP is not how the game is played.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Tex and Cano hit two balls well – but right at people.
ARod dribbled one up the line, but it took too long to get to a fielder and he knocked in a run.

      Shit happens.

      • toad

Cano is about .200 with RISP, about .350 other times. That can’t be so easily shrugged off at this point in the season.

  • BigBlueAL

Melky playing Chris Getz as if he were Barry Bonds cost us a run this inning.

And of course, they get the run back. It’s just been that kind of game.

Bruney actually didn’t look too bad, this is a step forward, I think.

He couldn’t hold the runner, but most relief pitchers can’t. Even Mo doesn’t hold runners well.

  • Luis Polonia

Posada has had a brutal series. 0-9, 5 SB allowed (I know they haven’t all been his fault, but still).

    • Jose

Then when he starts getting hot again, Girardi will move him out of the 5-hole.

  • nathan

Is there a worse hitter with RISP than Cano… i guess its time to cash in on him during this offseason and maybe get a solid 2B… trade him for some pitching…

    • Riddering

      1. Yes to worse hitters with RISP

      2. No to trading Cano.

      • nathan

I hear ya.. he is one of the few younger players on the big club… but its irritating whenever he comes on to bat with RISP.. he also escapes criticism more easily… maybe its the last 3 games… but i do think the Yanks wud b smart to see what hes worth

    • Luis Polonia

      “Maybe get a solid 2B”

Here are the top second basemen according to FanGraphs WAR

      1. Chase Utley (5.5)
      2. Ben Zobrist (5.2)
      3. Aaron Hill (3.1)
      4. Dustin Pedroia (3.0)
      5. Ian Kinsler (2.8)
      6. Robinson Cano (2.7)

What would you define as “solid?”

      • JobaWockeeZ

ONLY TEH BEST IS TEH SOLID!!!

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Oh, and don’t forget that Kinsler is wholly a creation of The Ballpark In Arlington and isn’t better than Cano, so he should be #5 on that list, not #6.

      • nathan

look.. i know he is one among the good 2B… but his struggles to bring the runs in frustrates me.. when i said solid.. i didnt mean a better 2B than him.. i meant if you could have a better than league average 2B and trade Cano for a starting pitcher who can hold the 3 or 4 spot… wouldnt it be good…

        • JobaWockeeZ

And we get someone suckier than Cano filling his spot?

    • Mike Pop

Nope, this is the guy. Yes, he is legit.

    • Accent Shallow

He got a strikeout looking, and a flyout on the first pitch. What more do you want?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Yeah this Dave Robertson sucks. He has an ERA AND WHIP above 0.00!
      DFA the bastard.

  • Accent Shallow

Robertson’s curve looks more like a slider than I remember.

  • GG

    None of those were strikes

  • Accent Shallow

    Swing the bat, Melky. Sheesh.

  • Riddering

Melky refuses to hit without RISP in the 7th.

    • Riddering

      Or the 8th. *ahem*

  • GG

PLEASE GET RANSOM OFF THIS TEAM

  • Accent Shallow

I don’t want Ransom DFAed, I want him shot like a horse with a broken leg.

    • Accent Shallow

Note: I don’t really want Ransom shot. Just, say, never signed? Outright released tomorrow?

    • Riddering

Am I missing the brilliance of walking the bases loaded with no outs?

      • Riddering

Whoops, didn’t know I was replying here.

  • Mike Pop

    Thornton is filthy.

  • Salty Buggah

Wow Thornton just made Cody his bitch

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      And everyone else, as well.

    • Billy

      cody is everyone’s bitch

  • BigBlueAL

Ransom has earned himself another start tomorrow at 3B since Arod will either DH or get a day off.

    • Accent Shallow

I would rather have literally any member of the Scranton roster here over him.

      • Billy

or AA or high A or low A or rookie ball. shit, i would rather have anyone on the dominican summer league roster than this bitch

        • Mike Pop

          Hyperbole much, Billy?

  • charlespoet

So I am guessing that by not pinch hitting for Ransom, Joe is tossing in the towel.

  • Billy

im not so sure we escape chicago without being swept

    • Accent Shallow

That’s what they pay Sabathia for.

  • Lanny

Girardi should have his head examined for actually starting Ransom at 1b with Hinske on the team and Swisher playing RF.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

I know you’d like to think that, but you’re wrong.

      • Mike Ox

You know who had it wrong? The Daily News when they call Torre clueless Joe. The real clueless Joe is managing the team at the present time.

      • Billy

there is no reason ransom should be on the team, let alone start. girardi has had a horrible game managing today. he starts ransom, he doesnt pinch hit for him, he leaves burnett in too long, and he leaves bruney in too long.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

The only one I agree with of those four is that he should have pinch hit for Ransom.

The other three moves are defensible and sound.

        • Drew

He’s leaving Coke in too long! Bring in Mo!!11!

  • stuart

really ransom has to be gone now.

I did not come to this conclusion because of this game but Ransoms performance today has only affirmed why the hell is he on the team? 250 OBP…Come on really.

the yanks stubborness in getting rid of TOmko’s and Ransom is moronic…

guys are hitting 203 against COke but why does it seem like that # is higher? 198 for lefties but again why so many big hits to lefties(wise, mauer, morneau, etc.)

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

g 203 against COke but why does it seem like that # is higher? 198 for lefties but again why so many big hits to lefties(wise, mauer, morneau, etc.)

      Selection bias.

    • Billy

      fully agreed

      • Lanny

Ransom sucks. But these are the same people who kept Berroa on the squad for months.

  • charlespoet

Yankees need to take something positive from this series meltdown. I think Coke should drill Pierzynski.

Jim Thome: Hall of Famer? Yes or no?

    I say yes.

    • putt

Yah, probably. I was on the fence a couple years ago, but as long as he stays “clean” to the best of everyone’s knowledge, I believe his stats are held up in an even higher regard.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

        He turns 39 next month, but hasn’t really shown much decline yet (155, 150, 125, 127 ERA+ from ’06-’09) and he’s at 558 homers.

Say he plays two more years, which he could probably do: 21 seasons, 600+ homers, maybe 1700 RBI, a career line somewhere around .275/.400/.550 – that’s hard to argue against.

    • Reggie C.

      ohhh hellz yeah!

    • http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/413671602_daded72a81_m.jpg The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

He’s a tough one. I think I’d vote no. It seems crazy with his numbers, but he’s basically a DH (he wasn’t a great 1B when he played there). I’m sure I’m being retarded about it and everyone will point out how wrong I am.

This might put him over the edge, though:

WordUpThome: HI MY NAME IS JI

        THIS ONLY ENDS ONE WAY

    • Accent Shallow

Are we talking “should he be in”, or “will he be selected”?

He has some gaudy counting numbers (HR and RBI), but added no defensive value, and doesn’t have a great BA. He also played in the Steroid Era. I’d say the writers put him in, but somewhere around 3-8th time.

As for whether he should be in, I’ll say yes, thanks to the gaudy OBP and the slugging he provided.

  • Accent Shallow

Wow, this is a total ass gaping the White Sox are putting on the Yanks here. Hopefully CC Safathia can come up with a big outing tomorrow.

  • charlespoet

    well this just fucking blows!

    Yankees = White Sox bitches.

  • YankeeJosh

Burnett is entitled to have a bad game. It happens. The manager can’t have a bad day. Girardi did nothing to put this team in the best position to win by leaving Ransom in the game.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

We gave up 10 runs. TEN.

Cody Ransom starting should not remotely be the story of this game.

  • BigBlueAL

Bullpen making it real difficult to remove Hughes and put him into the rotation. Hughes should move into the rotation regardless but all this does is further strengthen the Hughes is too important to the bullpen talk.

  • dkidd

when the yankees decide to stink, they really commit to it

  • Drew

Amazing play by Ransom. WTF Jorge.

  • Mike Ox

i think the yankees looked better than they really are during their hot streak, and i think they look worse than they really are today. however, its gonna be hard for the yanks to win the series with their current rotation

    • JobaWockeeZ

CC, AJ, Joba, Pettitte and Mitre makes it hard to win series?
      Seriously?
      Look at the damn Sox!
Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Penny and Smoltz. I’d takr the Yankees rotation over the Red Sox any day.

      • Lanny

You have to take Beckett n Lester over AJ n CC. Just on track record.

        • Mike Pop

          Really? Like, really?

CC is so much better based on track record than both those guys.

        • JobaWockeeZ

If they are better than CC and AJ then it’s a relatively small margin. So you’d rather have Penny, Smoltz and Buchholz over Joba, Pettitte and Mitre?

          • Billy

            joba wont be starting

  • Lanny

Good thing Cashman went out and made the team stronger at the deadline by adding a starting pitcher, a bullpen arm and a and an outfielder who can play CF.

Was he asleep the past 2 weeks? He really think all those prospects are going to turn into stars? He didn’t have 2 pitchers in the system comparable to Luke French?

  • Reggie C.

Cano got called a “little leaguer” “kicking dirt around” … These guys really hate the Yanks dont they..

    • JobaWockeeZ

Yeah they do. ESPN isn’t nearly as half as bad as Fox. Seriously everyone at Foxsports dislikes the Yankees and they make it so damn obvious.

He is old and needs to retire along with Matsui. They are ineffective and over paid.

      • Accent Shallow

Have we been watching the same team? They’ve both been hitting well this year.

(Yes, Posada has had an awful, awful series. Maybe he needs some time off, or maybe he’s just cold. Shit happens.)

      • JobaWockeeZ

Yeah their .856 and .855 OPS respective stats are so bad and ineffective.

        • jackass

Its not all about OPS, Lets just face it.Posada can’t block a ball in the dirt.

  • TJ

I cannot stand this team right now…

  • NHYankee62

    Hey Mike Alixsa,

Good call on saying that the Yankees didn’t need to make a deal. Why do anything to improve this team??

At least they still have plenty of “can’t miss” prospects who may be good in 4-5 years!

Who cares about this year right?? Us greedy Yankee fans just demand too much. So what if they haven’t won in 8 years. Based on your faulty logic, we should turn this team into the KC Royals.

You win some, you lose some right buddy??

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Holy crap, you’re back from the dead? I haven’t seen a NHYankee62 comment since the halcyon days of April Chien Ming Wang.

Do you have a reminder on your Google Calendar reminding you to come make disparaging comments every time the Yankees give up 10 runs or more?

    • JobaWockeeZ

      LOL.
You can jump off that ledge.
The Yankees tried to make a deal but never received word back.
They were willing to part with anyone not named Jesus, Hughes, Joba and Austin.

Yeah you demand too much. And it’s best you go on another bandwagon.

      • NHYankee62

That’s exactly the problem, you have to trade one of Joba/Hughes for Halladay.

So something like Joba and Montero should’ve been the Yanks final offer.

This team isn’t good enough to win right now. They can’t be talking about innings caps for Joba and running Mitre out there every 5th day.

Should’ve made a serious push for the best guy available in Halladay. It’s been 8 long years, this team is good enough to win now with alittle help.

But yeah, that’s me a bandwagon jumper. I’m furious b/c Cashman sat on his ass and did NOTHING to help this team. Just because I don’t have the time to spend every waking second on a message board, that means I don’t care. Good point.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Cashman didn’t “sit on his ass”.

He made a reasoned calculation and decided that he liked the guys in our system too much to give them up, because he thinks they have too much value to our long term plan to contend.

It’s not apathy or lethargy or disinterest. Just a difference of opinion.

You disagree with it, I don’t. Nothing wrong with that. It’s a judgement call.

        • JobaWockeeZ

3 consecutive games determines whether or not the Yankees can win it all? So the previous winning streak AND the previous series win over the RAYS were a fluke huh? The Yankees win against good teams = fluke and when they lose they suck. Am I getting on how you think right?

And you must be delusional if you think Joba and Jesus would be enough. It would take Joba and Hughes, Austin Jackson and Jesus AT LEAST, based on previous offers that weren’t “enough” for Halladay. There is a reason no team got him. He’s too expensive. If the Yankees got him they get more holes than they fix.

Now if they got Cliff Lee like how the Phillies did that would be awesome. Though no one though he’d be that cheap.

It’s funny how you must know Cashman! Do you secretly work in the Yankees Front Office. Because I know that they worked on Jarrod Washburn who initially required Austin Jackson. No way to that. They gave a list of acceptable prospects but never received word.

I never said you didn’t care but its annoying when you think you can run the team.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Nice job not reading everything I ever wrote. I was in favor of trading for Halladay, and said I wanted them to deal for Washburn. But don’t let facts get in the way of taking your frustration out on me.

      And it’s Axisa.

      • NHYankee62

So what would you have given up for Halladay?

        One of Joba/Hughes?

        Possibly Montero?

  • Lanny

This pen is why there is no chance Hughes gets moved into the rotation.

    • Accent Shallow

If Coke is gonna shit the bed, I’d rather he do it in a game that’s basically already lost.

  • Drew

This really pisses me off. Way to get it done Coke.

  • charlespoet

Seriously, just forfeit tomorrow and take the extra day off. You are embarrassing yourselves.

  • charlespoet

Our bullpen is in trouble. Hughes is the only one who can get an out right now.

  • Reggie C.

Can Swish pitch today. This is already an embarrassing loss , so lets save some arms and hand duties to Swish and his flawless WHIP.

  • Riddering

Remember how the Yankees have never come back from losing 3 games in a row or losing a series to go on a hot streak and retake the AL East lead?

Yeah, this team sucks. We’re never going to win again. All Yankee fans should watch curling instead.

    • JobaWockeeZ

We should turn into Sox fans! They know how to win! They are flawless! They got Victor Martinez, they’ll never lose a game again!

    • Lanny

      Blah Blah Blah.

Can’t people blow off steam watching this one game and not have the sanctimonious jump in and call them crazy for bitching about the past 3 games? We know they are a good team. thats why its sup f’ing upsetting watching terrible baseball. People have a right to bitch about it without people like this telling them off.

      • Riddering

        Lanny,

Were you actually “blowing off steam”, then yes.

You’re not blowing off steam, you’re consigning them to a season of doom and failure based on a wild overreaction.

We know they are a good team.

You could have f$%#ing fooled me, with the way you constantly say that we can’t possibly win a playoff series with this team. You’ve said it like five times in this spillover thread alone.

      • charlespoet

Nice call. Apparently every Yankee fan is suppose to see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow even when they play like crap and lose.

Remember, “it is a long season”, “win some lose some”, “tip your cap to the other team”, “they hit the ball real hard”, “your right just DFA him”. and on and on and on and on and on.

Apparently most of these people would remain completely positive when their house was foreclosed on, also. Good to know.

This is a really sad game, reminds me of this game against the indians when we gave up 20 runs. What is worse is that boston now has all the momentum going forward, if we get swept by them again our season is over period….have you seen the lineup card they put up today….God Damn Scary!!!

im not a chicken little, but i am a realist. this team needs help. they need another starter and probably another arm in the pen. its gonna be hard to maintain the slim lead over boston or do anything in the playoffs with the construction of the pitching staff

  • stuart

1 of girardi’s worst game of the year…

playing ransom first off.. he needs to be DFA’d.

not pinch hitting for Ransom with multi players on base in like the 5th inning. using Bruney after he had a nice outing after the hit to Getz, which was his 25th pitch and right down the middle, the multi intl walks for coke when you are already down by 5 runs…

if ransom is on the team tommorrow management are morons.. they have none Berroa options… Pena is better. He has no power but can run and field and had a 70 point better BA…

Or call up Duncan, who can run into a fastball on occasion against a lefty.. Hairston becomes the utility guy if you shoose to call up Duncan.. This is not hard to figure out … And I also know they did not lose because of playing Ransom, but I know it did not help at all along with Posada who is playing like he is drunk…….

    • Billy

      fully agreed on all points

  • stuart

how the heck do the angels do it? there pitching is worse then the yanks, they have had more injuries and all they do is grind and win..

scioscia is the best manager in the game….

  • Accent Shallow

I am a little surprised that Cashman didn’t pry another reliever loose at the deadline. I’d hope that another starter is coming through waivers, although that could be solved if the pen could get their shit together and one of Hughes/Aceves to the rotation

  • panic button

could it be back to back years they miss the playoffs? cashman and girardi would have to go.

  • stuart

I mean if a shmuck like me can see these obvious problems why can’t management??

I am not talking about fixing the hitch in Jobas delivery but just minor obvious things that should be done…

Bruney would have had a good outing, maybe it can help his confidence and he is the leat able to go a lot of pitches in the pen.

Ransom up with 2 guys on when you are down by 4 or so in the 5ht!!you say I am not showing Ransom any confidence and I say that is true, he has given me no reason to…..Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result…

this is anaheim deux… CC is 1 and 8 against 500+ teams, if that is correct that is a problem.. I hope that stat is innacurate…

  • Billy

this is no joke, montero just injured his hand by trying to catch a ball and might have broken it. just what we need

    • Accent Shallow

      Oy.

At least they weren’t going to bring him up this year.

    • panic button

he will never be the same again.

  • Januz

What happened today is just a bad day (Friday Night’s loss was far worse). That being said, Gerardi’s batting Ransome reminded me of the A’s game on Sunday, when he let Ransome hit with runners on 1st and 3rd with one out, amd Rodriguez on the bench, which almost cost them the game. Throw in his reluctance to pitch Melancon (He can’t be worse than Bruney or Robertson).
As for Cashman, his refusal to make a deal except bringing in Hairston jr, will end up costing this team big time. The concept of shutting down Joba scares me (He has been awesome since the break). But what is inexcusable and angers me, is not doing anything to the pitching staff, when they knew there was an innings limit on him.
I honestly do not think they will win the Series (They will be lucky to get the Wild Card, and if they don’t, Gerardi should be fired ASAP). As for Cashman, Montero, Jackson and Romine better be bringing Championships here, Joba better be a future Curt Shilling with the “Joba Rules” for 2009, and they better be signing draft picks (Particularly after Gerrit Cole’s misadventures). because not getting Halliday, Peavey, or Washburn, or even trying to sign Paul Byrd, instead of Mitre is insulting. ps: With A-Rod’s steroids, Wamg’s injury and “Joba Rules” all you need is a failure to sign Heathcott and a failure to make the playoffs to turn 2009 into 2008 all over again.

Has anyone mentioned Girardi’s man crush on Cody Ransom?

I feel quite confident Joe G. is the sole reason Ransom is still around. I have never heard a manager extol the virtues of a player as nondescript and (let’s face it) as bad as Ransom.
