I’m looking forward to you leaving when to take the lead and you coming back if they lose it.
dude, just because you were unloved as a child is no reason to be belligerent and angry at me. If you do not know any cliches that is fine. It was merely a comment not a pulitzer prize dissertation.
Insult the team we all follow = Supported
Insult the fans who give reason why the Yankees play bad = Supported
Get insulted by the fans who get mad at those fans = Not okay.
Precisely. Was part of a new bill in Congress put forth by the GOP.
But to make you feel better, since the Yankees are up, I will just read your billiant posts and only comment that the Yankees suck when they lose the lead. Oh and just to be sure I am completely on the same page, what Yankees team have you been watching this series? The one I have been watching is the same one that Mike Axisa has mentioned in all his pre and post game posts. But I understand that anyone else can utter the same frustration and it is understood that they are speaking with insight, knowledge, while the more emotional reactions are just “idiots”, “ledge jumpers”, “don’t understand baseball”, etc.
So to make sure I am getting you right, the Yankees suck for losing 3 games but their previous winning streak and previous series win of the Tampa Bay Rays mean nothing?
So in short they suck?
That’s all you need to say.
I see the error of my way. Even in a 3 game losing streak where they have committed numerous errors, thrown to the wrong base, haven’t hit with RISP, haven’t pitched very well, the use of the work “suck” is really the issue.
I am soooooooooo sorry. I did not know. It is this new “learn how to speak proper blog English dictionary” that us idiots and illegal immigrants get that is not up to date. Clearly, a 3 game sample like this does not warrant calling out their deficiencies but rather focusing on past performance, because this is merely an aberration and needs no commenting. My humble apologies, oh great Jedi of RAB.

Me: You think the Yankees suck
You: I think the Yankees suck
Since you can’t comprehend what I’m talking about I’ll make things simple so a 1st grader can understand.
Shit happens in baseball. It happens to everyone even the all mighty Red Sox. Bitching and complaining over a set of 3 games will help no one and aggravates people. If you think these 3 games will dictate on how the Yankees play baseball t
And complaining and bitching about the people who try to explain why the Yankees are playing bad claiming their ideas as “cliches” is asking for it.
And since you like putting words in my mouth I will clarify. I don’t mind a negative attitude about the Yankees should it not involve you acting like you know everything. And since you think everyone will provide “cliches” to their explanations that pisses me off.
So I don’t know where the hell ” proper English dictionary” shit came from. Or “illegal immigrants.”
Seriously what are YOU reading?
It was a big hit since it plated another run. He didn’t say it was a solid hit, which is where he would have been wrong. It actually breaks a long streak of Dave Roberts saying things that are wrong as he’s very terrible in the booth. Sox fans are willing to put up with a lot from him though, for very obvious reasons. Also, Eck is TBS today so he wasn’t an option.
Several clubs, including the Brewers, Marlins and Yankees, made at late push to acquire right-hander Brian Bannister, but none came close to matching the Royals’ believed asking price of two young pitchers, including one ready-now prospect.
“There was a lot of interest in our pitchers,” general manager Dayton Moore said, “but we felt it was important to keep our rotation together. Now, if we could trade someone and get a package of good, young players back, we would have considered that.
“Our goal was to make good baseball deals, and there just weren’t any good fits.”
The Royals set a stiff price for Bannister, who is 6-7 with a 3.80 ERA, because he won’t be a free agent until after the 2012 season. He is relatively affordable this season with about $650,000 remaining on his $1.7375 million salary.
They are almost as bad. I was in Virginia watching an earlier game vs the Yankees and they SUCK. When Hinske hit that homer they were literally speechless then some base hit by the Sox OMFG WE GOT A HIT WE GOT A HIT!!!! And they abuse “we” like they are in the game.
But nothing beats Tim McCarver. Unless Ken Rosenthal makes another appearance in Fox, then it’s tied. Joe Buck at a close second.
And Hawk Harrelson used to be the Sox GM. He was hired out of the broadcast booth and during his brief stint running the club, he fired Tony LaRussa and Dave Dombrowski and traded young Bobby Bonilla for Jose DeLeon.
Can you imagine the Yankees firing Cashman and replacing him with Michael Kay?
It’s close. At least Tim McCarver doesn’t scream “Stretch! Stretch!” at long fly balls or “Get Foul! Get foul!” when a Yankee hits a long fly ball to either corner.
No I wouldnt give any of those pieces, is that what they wanted? I didnt think so, I thought Cash wanted KC to take money and that is what held it up, but I thought the price in terms of prospects was very low. Either way, Cash should be scrambling to get Paul Byrd signed. Not that he’s good, but hes probably better than S Dot Mitre
I’d love to see Melky continue his hot streak to keep Gardner on the bench when he comes back. I know you never jeopardize the starting 9 to improve the bench, but he’s so valuable as a pinch runner that if Melky stays hot, you have to keep Gardner as the 4th OF. A bench of Hinske, Hairston, Gardner, and Molina is the best we’ve had in almost a decade.
Schilling on the radio Thursday was asked if Bustholz would be a 12-15 game winner or if he thought he’d put it together and become a 20 game winner. Schilling said neither, he’s not even sure he’ll become a 12-15 game winner. I know it’s still a SSS, but the guy is almost 25 and clearly has some issues. I hate Schilling, but man I hope he’s right.
No thanks. He doesn’t get on base enough (i.e., not enough walks). His OBP was .342 going into today, vs. Jeter’s .397. This is just the cross Robbie has to bear for now.
Abraham’s trash. Cano lines out twice with men in scoring position and he gets bashed. Jeter lines out and Pete makes sure to point out that he’s got unlucky. One minute Pete says CC stands for Complete Catastrophe and that he’s been bad, the next he says CC has gotten the job done all day. Guy’s an idiot.
Nah…those numbers aren’t impressive enough for him to pitch the 7th, which we all know is where you have to put your most promising pitchers. It is the most important inning, after all.
Well, Joe’s just humoring the redundant media and their questions. There’s so many “unforeseen” things that can happen that would open Hughes’s spot in the rotation, not including Joba. Marte, Bruney, Ace, if these guys show they can be solid in those late innings, Hughes isn’t necessarily as important there as he is now.
damnit Tex killed a rally
ok, CC you blew a 3 run lead and now we got you a lead again…shut em down!
Too bad CC never wins games with teams above .500 and if he does its a fluke obviously.
Just like how the Yankees can’t beat good teams.
yep, we are 0-162 in those games it seems with all the panic in here from some
Anotehr big inning erased by a DP. FAAAAK
From PeteAbe:
You come to a game expecting to see two lefty aces duel and you get 5-4 in the fourth inning and 17 hits. 17!
Meanwhile, there is quite the pitcher’s duel in Tampa
Shields has a no hitter, 80 pitches through 6.2
Since it’s against the Royals, does it really count as a no hitter?
Yes.
A buddy of mine just told me that Zach Grienke is not that good, and he only pitches well in bad weather…
Really?
You have cool friends.
So stupid.
Well, they are Cowboys fans.

As long as Buchholz continues to struggle, I’ll take it. I want to see their “future ace” becoming a big league journyman.
Buchholz has got the stuff man. I doubt he becomes a journeyman.
He’s an Ace in the hole.

Baltimore giving Boston the win. 11 runs for Boston so far.
Baltimore sucks, yes, but Boston’s knocking the ball all over the place. Even their outs have been line drives hit directly at the fielders.
CC’s not finishing them off after getting ahead (2 K’s only)
Cc sucks. He’s no ace
yeah…….
Victor Martinez 2 for 3 so far in his debut.
Debut was last night. 1-5, RBI, R, Kd in his first AB on 3 pitches.
not his debut.
Justin Masterson’s Indians debut >>>>>>>> Victor Martinez’s Blue Sox debut
Yea but
Victor Martinez on the Red Sox for the Red Sox >>>>>>>>>>> Justin Masterson on the Red Sox for the Red Sox.
Yeah, probably. V-Mart needs to stop slumping first, though.
He’s having a very nice day today, rbi after rbi after rbi…that’s what he’s here for.
Although I’m still concerned that he was crying after being traded…he could turn out to be a pu$$y who can’t handle playing in Boston.
Michael Kay = AWKWARDDD
Heh, talking bout The Hangover.
Jerry Remy’s son bleeds steroids
I love that the Red Sox have begun the smear job on Matsuzaka as well.
That would be a huge waste of money, kinda like Kei Igawa except that they won a WS with him.
LOL. Kind of like Kei Igawa…except he pitched well in the postseason and as a result they won a WS.
That’s a big difference.
How are they starting the smear campaign on him?
http://www.boston.com/sports/b.....isapp.html
Seems like lots of Red Sox player have stories like these prior to the end of their tenure in Boston.
“getting paid 160m for a rally killing DP? wtf tex must be hurt”
No Zack he is being paid to have a 141 OPS+
i think it was sarcasm.
it was sarcasm
haha oops my apologies then.
he’s actually getting paid 180 mil
actually I think that was more of a dig on everyone thinking someone is hurt the moment they have a bad inning, a bad at-bat or a bad game, etc.
did he really just say yeast head
My ears were cringing.
Nice rebound by CC.
Basketball? CC, nah.
there ya go CC

Seriously what are YOU reading?
Over/under on Red Sox runs is at 18.
Over/under on Royals base hits is 1.
I’ll take the over on both. Sox hitting well today and one hiters are tough to come by.
Good inning by CC. He’ll probably shut em down now.
no DP Robbie
alex is on fire
I like Nick Swisher because he gets on base 36.6ish% of the time.
Ugh, V-Mart just popped up a pitch and it blooped between Roberts and Jones..
broken bat hit. dave roberts called it a “big hit” from Vmart
They are sure clicking right now. The batters anyway.
Brian Bannister is what the Yanks need. He’s throwing a good one against the Rays right now.
why would the Royals would trade him?
English.
why would the Royals trade him?
i enjoyed this exchange
i enjoyed his lack of answer to the question
that too
http://www.kansascity.com/spor.....58344.html
I like Bannister, but I’m not giving up “two young pitchers, including one ready-now prospect” for him.
I liked this line from the GM that just traded for Yuniesky Bettancourt:
“Our goal was to make good baseball deals, and there just weren’t any good fits.”
Good point.
My retort: Amborix Burgos.
White Sox announcers are AWFUL! It’s like listening to two drunk fans talk about the game at a bar.
Better than Tim McCarver though, right?
They are almost as bad. I was in Virginia watching an earlier game vs the Yankees and they SUCK. When Hinske hit that homer they were literally speechless then some base hit by the Sox OMFG WE GOT A HIT WE GOT A HIT!!!! And they abuse “we” like they are in the game.
But nothing beats Tim McCarver. Unless Ken Rosenthal makes another appearance in Fox, then it’s tied. Joe Buck at a close second.
They also call every player by thier first name or nickname. It’s “Carlos with the catch” or “Run pods! Run!”.
They were so bad when I came home I was happy to hear Michael Kay again.
::shoots self in head::
ietc
And Kay promptly firing Girardi and trading AJax for Zach Duke?
Meh, Duke is way more than what Hawk got for Bonilla.
Plus he helped the Red Sox win the 1967 American League Pennant
It’s close. At least Tim McCarver doesn’t scream “Stretch! Stretch!” at long fly balls or “Get Foul! Get foul!” when a Yankee hits a long fly ball to either corner.
Drunk old fans.
Cano smokes it right into a glove. fuck shite.
Melky dunks one and he gets another hit.
Should add, “That’s baseball.”
I thought i was watching cricket.
I love cricket too
Could you explain cricket to me?
Eh It’ll take a while
you hit a ball and run back and forth. that’s all i know.
Could you explain cricket to me?
http://www.google.com
what a jerk.
Heh, I should have seen that coming. I’ve read the rules and it’s still a blow over the head.
I remember when someone in high school asked me to explain baseball. That was a mental challenge to say the least.
Nah, I’m more of an asshole than a jerk. Thanks for noticing, though.
Oh course! I’m very observant.
Melky came to play. Oh yeah.
So did Swisher and Hairston.
So did my Nintendo, right out of the box.
Melky – the boss.
Hells yeah.
Melky coming up huge today.
Melky is money
“Melky a triple away from history!”
YES….YES…..YES….HISTORY!
/Hawk’d
Good melky showed up today
melky is the man.
How good is this Josh Reddick kid the Sawx have?
Good, but he can’t hit lefties to save his life.
good thing he gets to face 2 of them and the lefty killing slider specialist in joba
too bad he wont be playing. just filling in for Bay today
man that sucks
i forgot bay is out
Filler.
he could get them a lincecum-type arm
/gammons
IETC.
LECHE!
now Melky just needs that triple.
Aw, don’t take Buehrle out yet! We were doing so well against him.
man has this been a good game for the offense or what?
Melky is the most hated/loved Yankee not named A-Rod.
+1
Yup.
Abreu was up there too.
You mean within Yankee fandom?
Because I’d say most everyone outside of intense Yankee fans have no opinion on the guy.
Yep, Yankee fandom and this site especially.
It’s funny. I’m guilty of it myself cause there are stretches where he looks so good and then as we know, stretches where he sucks.
When he does well, I love him. When he sucks, I don’t hate him, I just am very disappointed.
I agree on being disappointed.
Melky is a player I want to cheer on whenever he plays but his inconsistency makes that impossible.
ugh.. dudes hitting 290+, he’ll have a bad few weeks, like any player.
We know. I’m a Melky fan, it’s just that is it a few bad weeks or is it just not being that good of a player?
I think he’s a good player. Last year was just a bad year.
Hairston impressive.
POUR IT ON!!!
Hairston is much better than Ransom.
Jerry Hairston likes being on a first pace club.
Again, Hairston > Ransom.
Poo stacked 6 feet high > Ransom
IETC.
That’s true. However, since Ransom has a 61″ vertical:
Poo stacked FIVE feet high < Ransom
Does the poo get a stick with a glove on it? if so, I could see better defensive stats.
JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
Its nice to have a real utility man now.
my god jerry hairston jr is another genius pickup
hinske and hairston do nothing but produce
Cashman is clueless without a blank check though.
yep [/haters from other teams & irrational fans
2 times.. the white sox have gotten lucky on Derek Jeter… can’t get enough of it.
If Hairston’s performance today can end the Ransom experiment it will be a good day.
Meh, Hairston’s mere presence was going to end the experiment anyway.
We’re just waiting for somebody else to be ready to be activated to take his place. Either Gardner or Marte.
Damn, that was so close.
man jetes is getting hammered by the baseball gods today
Toronto placed Scott Downs on the DL, do they have to wait til he gets off it before they place him on waivers?
Yeah.
ok CC dont cough up the lead again.
Hairston.
Even when Hairston boots a ball, he still throws the runner out by half a stride.
Trade A-Rod.
Yeah, who needs a-rod and his .910 ops. We got Hairston and his .712!
SCOTTY BRO!!!!
there you go CC keep it up.
Jerry Hairston Jr. = disappointment
CC is dealing
not getting strike outs, but these people arent hitting him
Okay, can someone explain what the hell this:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wi.....uthpaw.jpg
has to do with white socks, or Chicago, or baseball, or life?
it’s mark beuhrle
well they are the southpaws of chicago, so it makes sense
Why is it green?
i have no idea

That is the greatest thing ever.

you know southpaw got with one of the bridesmaids
IetL
Is that a tennis ball with arms and legs?
He should be named Fuzzy Dunlop.
I hope CC just goes off from here on. I want to see like a 2.00 ERA over the remainder of the season.
nothing like unrealistic expectations
yep, so unrealistic. AJ didnt just have an ERA of close to 2 over the course of the last 2 months so yea your right.
yes i am right
It’s an unrealistic expectation, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
mantle: he said play it louder
awesome
agreed hilarious
I’d like to see Melky get a harmonica endorsement deal.
I don’t know why he doesn’t have a Tuscan Farms endorsement package.
he needs a mary carey endorsement deal
I wonder if Mary Carey ever teases Demi Delia for falling for an impostor.
Ask.
http://twitter.com/DemiDelia
I like that her bio says “Actress”. That’s funny.
Bannister has shutdown the Rays through 7, woulda been a nice pickup, certainly worth his pricetag
His pricetag was 2 young pitchers and one almost league ready prospect. Would you do Joba, Hughes and AJax for him?
You read that wrong.
Two young pitchers, one of the two being almost league ready.
Bannister’s price would have been probably Kennedy (were he healthy) and one of Nova/Z-Mac/Vizcaino. And that’s too much.
Nah, I doubt it. Brian Bannister is solid, I like him but the price tag was two prospects and one mlb ready player as pointed out by Tsjc.
That’s not what the article said. Please read carefully, people.
“…two young pitchers, including one ready-now prospect…”
That’s two players, not three.
I know, that’s what I meant. Just wrote it wrong.
Im sayin
A broken clock is right once a day.
Twice, actually.
it’s twice smart guy.
A broken military clock?
Depends on what they asked for
I’d love to see Melky continue his hot streak to keep Gardner on the bench when he comes back. I know you never jeopardize the starting 9 to improve the bench, but he’s so valuable as a pinch runner that if Melky stays hot, you have to keep Gardner as the 4th OF. A bench of Hinske, Hairston, Gardner, and Molina is the best we’ve had in almost a decade.
good eye alex
Williams is really flirting with danger here.
Yeah.
Oh, you weren’t talking about Kenny Williams, were you? Nevermind, then.
Man, Buch can’t even do enough to get the W today.
Man, Cano always gets these spots.
And the end result is usually the same: unproductive out.
Buchholz couldnt make it through 5 with a 14-7 lead. gave up HR, walk, single.
Final Line: 4IP, 9H, 7ER, 4BB, 3K, 2 HR
now that’s ace material
haha2 of the runners are his responsibility too.
Don’t worry he’s still betta than Hughes……I think.
DAMAGE TIME
Tiger Woods is just ridiculous. Oh to be that good.
What’s the leaderboard look like?

Eh, fuck that. I’d still be amazing, give me 1/50th of his skill.

But so far today, he is just Tiger. Freakin’ awesome! And a Pac-10 guy. Nice.
Steroids.
He did go to Standford which is near Oakland – BALCO…
You might be on to something…
The Yanks definitely need a mascot
Oops…that wasnt meant to be a reply
Nope. Just cheerleaders.
In pinstriped pajamas.
risp cano = EPIC FAIL
Cano is having a rough year with RISP
Just 7 runners left on base for Cano. Great, great hitter in the clutch.
I dont understand the broken clock is right twice a day. Can someone explain please lol
It means a clock that says 12:00 on it without AM or PM. So that would mean it is right at midnight and at noon.
noon and midnight.
are you serious?
if its stuck at 1:00, it is right at 1PM and 1AM
sorry, i shouldnt have been so mean
Maybe he’s got a Casio digital watch that includes the “AM/PM” readout.
In that case, no, it technically wouldn’t be right twice a day.
/graspingatstraws’d
Ladies and gentlemen, your public school system!
bases loaded 1 out and they don’t fucking score
Paul Byrd anyone??
No thanks
No, not yet. We’ll reevaluate in a couple of weeks.
Terrible.
That’s deflating.
Way to put the game away, boys. Pause. NOT!
\Borat’d
alright, lets keep it going with the pitching CC
.202 with risp for robbie thats not bad luck its just bad baseball
Our New York Yankees: “Refuse to Cruise!”
Well, that sucked.
Robbie’s never been good with the bases loaded.
.250/.262/.354/.616
Anxiety?
Maybe he’s been hanging out with Justin Duchscherer and somehow developed a contact high.
Yanks allow Chisox to stay in the game. Gotta take advantage of 3 walks with 1 out.
Schilling on the radio Thursday was asked if Bustholz would be a 12-15 game winner or if he thought he’d put it together and become a 20 game winner. But… but… he threw a NO-HITTAH!!
You misheard. Schilling was saying he’d probably only win 12 games each MONTH.
All 12 months of the year too.
Woot. good shit CC
Ya, you do have to give him more time. Kid has put up great minor league numbers. You’d think it would come around sooner or later.
But, like you. I hope he flames out.
CC = bust
Love those types of innings.
No harm, no foul.
cc smells a w
Smothered in barbecue sauce.
Whammy!
a McW with fries and a shake
Nice, just what CC needed here
Courtesy of Pete:
Robbie Cano without runners in scoring position: 101 of 288 (.351)
Robbie Cano with runners in scoring position: 26 of 128 (.203).
That differential is truly unbelievable.
Should have him bat leadoff.
No thanks. He doesn’t get on base enough (i.e., not enough walks). His OBP was .342 going into today, vs. Jeter’s .397. This is just the cross Robbie has to bear for now.
Not a very good runner.
Yeah, but it doesn’t change that BA with RISP for Cano.
Pete’s actually correct about Cano and CC. Why are you hating on the guy?
You know what sad folks, Jim Rice in the HOF despite his #’s is not better than Bernie Williams.
Rice: .298/.381/.502 with an OPS+ 0f 128 and overall OPS .852
Williams: .297/.381/.477 With an OPS+ of 125 and overall OPS of .858
Amazing.
One was a gold glove CF, the other was an atrocious LF who was about league average on the road with the bat.
Bernie gets overlooked because he played in “the steroid era”
To quote Bo (in probably the best comment he ever made), “When they start calling 1960-1989 the ‘Greenies and Cocaine Era’ then I’ll start caring.”
Also, why the hell was Tim Raines not voted in?
Because he wasn’t as white as Paul Molitor.
cc is murdering them now
this is the cc we know and love and paid 161 million to
Please. You make it sound like he shut down this team. He pitched OK.
see how he put the word “now” in the sentence? because CC has faced only 9 batters over the last 3 IP
I’m smelling a Hairston grand slam right here. That or he’ll smack it to center and miraculously make the catch himself.
Or the sexiest looking flyout to right in the history of baseball.
ietc
Clay Bucholz is 6-11 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in his career. Clay Bucholz = BUST
only if he was a Yankee.
And thats not counting his terrible performance today against Baltimore
To the 7th inning!
Buch/Bard/Pap
Championship quality pen there.
Nah…those numbers aren’t impressive enough for him to pitch the 7th, which we all know is where you have to put your most promising pitchers. It is the most important inning, after all.
That’s just Buchholz establishing his underdog qualities. Next stage is grit. Then championship calibre. Then 12 Cy Young awards.
Hairston didnt go 3-3..BUST.
DFA him and Cashman now!
OK, I just finished transfering all my music on my new Ipod, and I still have 106GB’s left. What the hell?
You’ve found the magical bottomless iPod!
That happened to me a while back, so I put season one of Reno911! on it.
need more music.
So Girardi says that Phil Hughes is “too important to the bullpen” to be moved out of it.
Even though Joba Chamberlain is going to be moved into it.
Hughes locking down the 8th = Chamberlain locking down the 8th
Both Hughes and Joba in the bullpen together is a poor allocation of resources.
Yeah exactly.
It just another reason y Hughes SHOULD be starting.
This is one time I’d like the organization to lie so long as they are stating Hughes is to be kept in the pen.
yeah our bullpen would be really awesome, but our rotation would be pretty beat sauce. Hughes (preferably) or Aceves have to go to the rotation.
“Headed into the 7th inning stretch it’s still 7-4 bad guys.”
Hawk Harrelson
Hawk Harrelson has an odd perspective on morality.
Seriously, Hawk should get fired for that type of professionalism as an anouncer. Really iridiculous.t’s
Is he announcing an episode of Scooby Doo or…?
guy in the mantle jersey has a smoke show with him she was a treat.
wow i am so glad to not see getz any more
why would derek cut that off?
I hate that speedy bastard
HUUUUUGE K there by CC
wow that was awesome defense by sabathia there
haha, CC angry.
Great job CC.
CC is fucking awesome
Hmm, tough choice there for the Player of the Game… I’m gonna go with that guy who plays for the other team even though we’re winning 7-4.
What a way to get out of that!
nice that the real podsednik showed up today
That was the sexiest work-out-of-jam inning I have seen in quite some time.
CC TO THE 8TH?!
