I’ll say Wade Boggs for the trivia.

    • BigBlueAL

Damn package showing Blue Jay telecast, whats the trivia??

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Most career hits against the Jays. Jeter is second.

  • Drew

I love how half the fans here go from happy to furious change the rotation, this team lets up blah blah, all in the course of one half inning.

This place is Heaven compared to LoHud or almost every Yankee message board.

    Ruiz?

    Fucking hell.

    Classic “trap” series.

  • Randy A.

    Pathetic Joba

  • charlespoet

There he is, the real Joba has surfaced.

Ruiz! Seriously, Ruiz! What a joke.

  • pat

What the fuck, fuck this shit.

  • JSquared

    The Lucky get Luckier…

  • Tony

This is why Sergio Mitre can’t keep starting.

    • http://www.twitter.com/wahbjo01 Jordan

What does Joba’s ineffectiveness have to do with Sergio Mitre?

      • Zack

because we need 2 spots in the rotation to get Igawa and Gaudin starting?

        /sarcasm

      • Lanny

Because if Joba can only go 5-6 innings every start we cant be blowing out the pen with Mitre.

      • Tony

        Everyone flunks.

You can’t toss away the 5th spot as if you have 4 games locked up the rest of the time. It’s an idiotic approach to the roster. Whether its ineffectiveness, injury, a short stint… too much happens on a day to day basis to have a 7 ERA averaging 4 innings a start in the rotation.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Subjectivity Alert:

Joba was working nice and fast in in the first two innings but slowed down like crazy with guys on rather than keeping a the same rhythm. When he does that, he does poorly.

    • Salty Buggah

Is he shaking off Posada again too? It seems like he’s went up to talk to him a couple of time too.

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

        I haven’t been noticing.

      • ShuutoHeat

        Nope. Nil. Nein.

    • ShuutoHeat

Bossux batters paused nearly every pitch to screw with his rhythm. I think it’s written in the books how to bat against Joba.

    • Lanny

He should really use the Nuke LaRoosh style of pitching. Stop thinking. Just throw what the catcher puts down.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I didn’t think he looked good even in the first. I’m not surprised at all unfortunately.

  • Salty Buggah

    I hate Overbay BTW

    WTF Joba!

  • Dela G

    fucking A

this is some scrub rookie joba

  • Lanny

He just throws too many balls. He can never find the zone. Good thing he mixes in 2 great starts between 6 awful ones.

    • pat

Oh right we were busy winning so you don’t show up.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      L’OAKTAG

  • JSquared

He’s going to have his good starts, his bad starts, his decent starts, we just need to win, he will eventually be a very consistent pitcher. But to complain about some guy named Randy Ruiz hitting a opposite field Homerun off the foul screen? it’s the park, not Joba.

    • pat

Ruiz was slugging .584 in AAA. Dude has power, joba threw him a pitch that caught too much plate. Simple as that.

    • Salty Buggah

Eh you still gotta have a bad enough pitch to have a scrub drive it far enough. Like we saw in the Boston series, good pitching negates the bandbox

  • Ivan

I guess the bad joba showed up tonight.

  • Dela G

well nice 2 ks there though

  • Joba or Hughes-To-the-pen

Joba and Hughes are ace like pitchers but when there in the pen they throw 95+mph and pound the strikezone. When there starters they throw 91-92mph and are scared to throw strikes to the #9 hitter.

Joba and Hughes will be a very good starters. But unless he throws harder and have more command on he’s fast ball he will never be like Verlander or Lincecum.Guess we have to wait 2 year before our phenoms pitch like phenoms.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

You know why they’re not going to be Verlander and Lincecum? Because those guys are incredible exceptions, not anywhere near the rule.

    • pat

Right, no pitchers who throw under 98 can have success. Get real.

    • Dorian

Phil Hughes doesn’t throw 91 MPH

  • Riddering

My least favorite thing about Joba’s struggles is the reaction of Yankee fans who lay into him like he purposefully keeps himself from being an experienced superace without flaw.

  • Joba or Hughes-To-the-pen

Joba is like AJ Burnett.Ace stuff but can’t do it a entire year.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

As a starter, not including tonight, Joba has thrown 181 innings, basically a full season, to the tune of a 3.38 ERA. That’s, IMO, getting it done for an entire year.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

  • Accent Shallow

Two 1-2-3 innings in a row from this dogshit pitcher?

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I would hardly call Richmond a “dogshit pitcher.” He’s doing well this year.

      • Accent Shallow

After the way they hit him in Toronto and the first two innings of this game, I’m semi-comfortable with this assessment.

      • ShuutoHeat

        Yeah!

he’s a GOOD dog shit pitcher!

    • Dela G

you said scutaro is a crap player and richmond is dogshit?

you must not watch much jays ball

      • Accent Shallow

Scutaro is a crappy hitter. Just because he’s fluked his way to a solid walk rate this year doesn’t mean it’s a new talent level.

      • http://www.twitter.com/shaked RichYF

Plus, there’s still horseshit, bullshit, dipshit…

        • ShuutoHeat

          don’t forget holyshit

  • Salty Buggah

damn that since that pukelis ejection, everything has gone downhill. Joba blows up and Boston ties it.

    • ShuutoHeat

No worries, it’s still early for us.

    • NYQ

      wtf?

  • Salty Buggah

Hmmm Joba’s velocity down a bit. After being 92-93, he’s been 90-91 in the past 2 innings. Not a significant drop though.

    • Salty Buggah

as soon as I write that, he throws 93 and 95. Too bad he got squeezed both times though.

  • Dela G

Ricciardi looks like the fruit loops character

    • ShuutoHeat

Toucan Sam, lol everyone refers to him as that.
      … JUST FOLLOW YOUR NOSE!!!

Shouldn’t Paul O’Neill, as a “broadcaster”, know how waivers works?

    • Drew

Eh, he’s not paid to know the intricacies of policies, rules, even the waiver system. He’s paid for his personality and the goodwill he built in Yankee fandom.

  • pat

Yeah, all these ballsacks are stepping out on him after every strike he throws. The book has been written.

    • Zack

unfortunately for a batters the book isnt finished at age 23.
they’ll work with Joba and continue to get better in different scenarios, just like every other 23 year old

How is forcing a team to keep a guy they can’t/don’t want to pay for a bad thing for baseball, Mike?

Dude, Yankees, can you score a run or two now?

Preferably four or five, but I’ll take one.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I’d prefer two, since one only ties it.

Damn, that was an unbelievable catch. Holy crap.

    • Zack

ha thats pretty sad. charge, throw your hemlet at hit 5 feet away, hug him, and get your ass thrown to the ground. 7 game suspension sound good?

      • Drew

        10 plz

        • Zack

i cant even remember last time there was a ‘brawl’ so just threw out a number. a starter usually gets 6 games(appeal down to 5) so he misses atleast 1 start. reliever usually gets 2-3. position player get what a week? 10 games seems like alot

          • Drew

Eh hitting a batter is a baseball play. Charging the mound and starting a brawl is not a baseball play. The fine/suspension should be hefty, otherwise, guys will do it more often.

            • Zack

I agree. Remember when Coco charged at Shields? He got 5 games and Shields got 6 games- although Shields did technically throw the first swing when Coco came out.
And tonight Porcello was basically self defense and Youk was attacking.

        • ShuutoHeat

  • BigBlueAL

Tonight and last night is a great example to all those idiots who dont think clutch hits happen in the first few innings. The Yankees leaving runners left and right early in the game cost them last night and is costing them tonight.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      +1

      • pat

        Yes.

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

No, I think he’s just saying that a clutch hit isn’t just one that comes after the 7th inning. A big hit early on can put the game out of reach before it’s even really a game.

        • BigBlueAL

          Thank You.

        • Drew

Yeah, we all wanted Alex to hit a GS in the second inning but the fact is, guys are going to make outs.

          • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Obviously, but that at bat will probably end up being more important than most of the later at bats.

      • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

        +a billion

      • Zack

they’re batting .333 (2-6) with RISP, clutch players would bat .500

we still haven’t been exactly good with RISP this year. Still, I’ll take the #1 offense anyday but we COULD be way better with RISP.

        • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Coud we? If we were our offense would be almost impossibly ridiculous. It has to balance out somehow.

    haha

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I thought Ichiro put his first name on his jersey because there were a lot of Suzukis in the Japanese League? I could be way off base with that but I thought I heard that somewhere…Probably wrong.

      • Zack

well Yao Ming and Yi Jianlin have their first names on their jerseys too

        • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

They’re Chinese, not Japanese. In China, the last name comes first. Ming/Jianlin are their first names, I believe.

      • ShuutoHeat

Either Ichiro or his manager at the time decided that he should just put up “Ichiro” to set himself apart. Yes.

        Ichiro is his given name.
        Suzuki is his family name.

In case anybody has been wondering, Gary Sanchez has been in Tampa working out with the GCL team, taking English classes and chilling with coaches.

He’s not doing it with Tampa yet? Bust. What an awful signing.
