lets keep it going yanks!
Makavelli i wouldn’t call this the B Team maybe the B+ team..
The B team is molina at catcher, swish at first, pena at short, hairston at third, hinske in right
So we’re VERY close to the B-team is what you’re telling me?
Not that close, we still have arod and posada in the lineup, a sure-fire and a borderline hall-of-famer. Thats a big difference
McGuire was a surefire Hall of Famer for a while too…lol
That’s like the C team.
Pena proves he is G too.
Damon = Steroid Freak.
Clearly.
Tim Belcher.
Did you look it up or guess?
B-R’d that shit like it was my job.
Yeah, I did the same.
They should have given a hint: hates cameras (although that just narrows it down to two).
Oh Ramiro!
Who’s this kid? He’s no Jete.
Hallujah Pena.
Pena with the DIVE!!
Pena with the diving play.
Pasta divi–wait what?
I missed it, what happened to Jeter?
HBP in the foot in the first.
Phew, was afraid of a hand.
HBP on foot
It’s a bruise… probably an extra day off against Snell tomorrow…
Ha, talk about efficient.
60 pitches thru 4 is respectable. Way to go AJ
fugghetaboutit
60 pitches through 4, its amazing how 2 innings can turn a pitch count around
9 pitch inning nice
OK, I’m at work, what’s the score, someone who’s chillin and having fund give me a summary.
Jeter HBP in the first inning on the foot, now out of the game. Jeter scored in the first on a bases loaded groundout.
Randy Ruiz homered off A.J. Burnett in the 2nd.
Johnny Damon had a lead off Homerun in the 3rd.
Cano has a leadoff Homerun here in the 4th.
*Pena made a diving catch off Vernon Wells’ bat.
Jeter bruise on his foot, will have x-rays @ the stadium
Hope he’s OK and nothing serious
44 pitches through the first 2…16 pitches in the last 2
Hes now back on track for seven. Amazing how one good inning can do that
Woot woot!! Robbiee
Don’t ya know!
Robbie Cano, whaddya know.
CANO!!!!!
Robbie Cano! Dontcha know!
cano killed it!
CANO CAN DO!
Robbie!
DONTCHA KNOW!
He loves those empty bases!
I posted this last night- robbies hitting .421 leading off an inning, .486 against lefties. Before that homer
Robbie Cano. Dont ya know! (Know how to do it when you had 2 men on)
Leadoff every inning please Robbie!1!!
That Cano is some player uh?
cano heard the thread plea & answered.
That was me! yayy affecting real life through the internet!
Paul O’Neill likes: food.
Paul O’Neill dislikes: computers.
Kay dislikes: small hats
Cano: our future leadoff man?
Swisher is so selfish.
4th OFer clogging the bases
Swisher is paid to hit not walk.
He must think he’s still with Oakland.
/Morgan’d
Haha, that comment pissed me off to no end.
Nah,
Swisher is a good walk guy, that’s why he walked.
/Morgan’d
whoa, he said that?
Yup. It was after that at-bat where he singled in two runs after Swish thought he got hit by a pitch.
wow thanks for pointing that out.
I almost smashed something when I heard him say that. Someone needs to smack him in the face
that dude was loved in Oakland. i went out to a game his last year out there, 90% of the jerseys were Swisher
Whod they trade him for? I was surprised beane would let one of his guys go like that, especially when he epitomizes his system
Fautino de los Santos, Ryan Sweeney and Gio Gonzalez.
More Base-clogging for Swisher!
Oh swish, you such a sneaky ninja
Juuuuuuuuuuust back in time.
haha, umps suck. I love it.
Lol Swisher was so out.
Anyone remember Cano’s power potential. A 25-30 HR guy, right? In this Stadium, he may actually hit 30 HRs, especially as he enters his prime years.
too bad he doesnt have the grit to be a player of Pedroia’s level
yea, no one on the Yanks is even close. Gardy is the closest but thats a relative term.
We should trade for david eckstein. He was pedroia’s grit instructor at arizona state, he wrote every single book on the subject
Eric Hinske: Mall Cop
Joe West is gross.
Holy shit, is Yes going to show us the right angle?
guess not.
so i guess that Eric Hinske needs to play alot more bandwagon is getting lighter by the game
Eh, double yesterday, I still like him at the plate for the most part.
so do i, just not against LHP and as a part time player
Took 5 pitches and a bad decision by the Home Plate Umpire to get him out. i’ll take it if we win and rest someone else.
i didnt say he was Cody Ransom; but all those ‘sit Swisher for Hinske’ supporters are disappearing
Joe West… just wants to get off the field to get some food.
When did Swisher become a speed demon?
base-clogger Swisher moves up!
So what kind of contract does Johhny D command next year?
3 years/21MM?
If he wants to stay a Yankee, 1 year and a club option. whatever the going rate is for old outfielders, guys will get signed before him so, it’ll gauge his price.
I don’t see him or Boras accepting a one year deal with a team option. Considering how he’s played this year, and considering our other options (trading the farm to Tampa for Crawford or signing Holliday or Bay for big money), I think we need him more than he needs us.
How many big mark teams are going to offer a multiyear contract to a 36 year old LF with no arm and even if he bounces back just average for range who’s banged up alot?
Boston homecoming(unlikely but they may have an opening).
Anyone in the AL that could use a DH.
The Mets.
Braves.
I dunno, let’s not under rate his bat this year.
and those teams are going to look at his Yankee Stadium/Road splits too.
‘Anyone in the AL that could use a DH.’ – no its big market teams only.
Angels? They have enough corner OF/DH
Boston? They didnt resign him then, why give him multi years now?
Mets? Maybe but hes going to suck in that park
Braves? Had to cut 1m Glavine just to add McLouth
Detriot? in 90 ABs Guillen contract gets guaranteed, and they already have Willis, Bonderman, in dead money
Someone will make a 2 year offer.
you can say that, but the Royals, Twins, Baltimore, and all those crappy teams can be taken out of the discussion.
He has a .315 obp and .737 ops away from YS
That’s just not true.
http://www.baseball-reference......;t=b#hmvis
You were reading his lhp split.
shit my bad. but still hes not the same player on the road
Also assuming we don’t get Dunn or Manny, I’d love him as the DH. Then of course we’d have to fill the LF hole. I just think this year will reward him with more than a one year deal.
Ha, Boras will probably ask for 3/32mil
and i asked for a mustang when i turned 16.
how many big market teams are going to give him 3/32? He’ll get what Burrel got at the most, hopefully just 1 plus option with the Yanks though
Ha i didn’t say he’d get it, but you know Boras.. Asks for the moon.
Too much.
Im still waiting for Swish to start HRs at home soon. Damon knows how, maybe he should teach him just to hook the ball towards RF.
He’s doing it on purpose to throw an element of mystery into the bandbox theory…he’s so crafty.
me too, but just imagine how good hes going to be once he starts to hit at the stadium
yea, he’d be pretty beastly
Seriously, why do they play the PC Richard and Son whistle after every strikeout?
That’s the advertisement. The reason P.C. Pays them.
Sam Elam is nasty, but not in a good way.
He’s gonna hit at the same level for at least the next two years, I say you give him 2 and an option, he deserves that. He plays big, in New York, he’s built for this stadium, and I would predict a bounceback somewhat defensively next year, to average…there is no reason you can’t offer that.
Agreed. And he’s just such a good clubhouse guy, which i know sounds trivial but its been so important to how well wer playing and the different feel of the team IMO
Who do you want: Aaron Hill or Robbie Cano? Hill has a more power but Cano has a higher BA. Both are not the greatest OBP guys. Cano has better D and is a bit younger.
I know most of us like Robbie so they will choose him but try to give an unbiased answer.
I say Robbie.
Robinson
no doubt, robbie. plus, as a lefty, he’s built for this park.
Cano. This is Hill’s first great year.
hill did have 63 XBH in 07, and had concussion problem last year so thats a throw away
Robbie
Robbie all the way. Though I may be biased, I feel guilty because I’m wearing his “old school” batting practice shirt from when he wore # 22 right now haha.
Aaron Hill is a scrappy, hard-nosed play-the right-way ballplayer, and Cano is a lazy, undisciplined free-swinger who takes to many plays off at the plate and the field.
Robbie all day long.
Robbie all the way. No question. This is Hill’s best year by far. Robbie has a longer – and better – track record. Hill may end up with more HR, but Robbie will hit plenty of those.
If Wagner can be healthy, should the Yankees consider that or would the price be too steep, considering how depleted the Mets’ system is?
I haven’t heard anything on his velocity.
Also, I’ve never liked him so I’ll pass.
‘price’ as in his salary or prospect they want in return?
Prospect.
if the Yankees are taking his entire salary and buyout then Mets are getting nothing in return. Like the other guy said, dont know what his velocity is and everything while hes rehabbing, but i wouldnt give up anything significant
Pass.
The Yankees already have a power lefty reliever with a good track record coming off an injury. No need for two.
AJ has some good stuff today.
AJ made Lind his bitch there.
GET SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I were a ballboy on the foul lines, I would give the foul balls to chicks all day long.
i’d also have a pen to write my number on every ball i hand out to the hot ones
what an awesome K to overbay
AJ!
BBTN said Wagner was throwing 96 in A ball yesterday
Interesting.
Anyone think he’d make it through waivers?
I think someone in the NL would take him first anyway.
AJ has K’ed their good hitters but not their bad hitters. Probably trying to be efficient.
Michael Kay must be mistaken. Theo changed the game, not the Yankees.
/ESPN’d
Paul had a .360 OBP and an IsoD of ~80. He walked his fair share.
I think Wagner is an interesting option, you know he’s gonna do his damndest to stick it to the mets….what better way than as a yankee, and he works much better as a piece of a good team instead of the focal point….
Do you know what a reply button is?
Best poll result EVER
You know, they just aren’t getting the swings on AJ that they did on Mitre…hmmm. lol
Chances Johnny Damon finishes the year with 30 HRs?
He only is 15 HRs behind Pujols and 1 ahead of A-rod.
Very very good
Completely possible?
1, 40 HR hitter (Tex)
2, 30 HR hitters (Damon, A-rod)
4, 20 HR hitters (Swish, Matsui, Cano, Jorge)
2, 15 HR hitters (Melky, Jeter)
Yep. Not sure Tex gets 40. I feel like itl be real close, maybe 38
4, 10 HR Hinske, Hairston, Molina, Gardner.
nah, just kidding about Gardner
he needs what 8 in 50 games? its possible
I see it working already. Swish teaches johnny to walk more while Damon will now teach Swish to hit a HR to RF.
Yayy x-rays negative
thank Mo!
great to hear that jete’s foot will be ok
a-rod is a good hitter
He OK.
With that double, he’s .004 points away from OPS’ing .900 again.
A-Rod’s just better.
Does AROD get to 30HR, 100 RBI this year? I think he will get HRs, not sure about 36 more RBIs.
I expect a really hot streak coming so maybe yea. He didn’t have that many more at this time last year, right?
I would never in a million years sit there and yell “Jorge!” every 2 seconds for the entire AB.
especially when he strikes out on breaking balls all day.
That was a fastball.
Wasn’t talking about that at bat, just in general, we’ve seen him striking out on breaking balls the last week.
Oh, yeah, offspeed pitches are bringing the pwn on Posada.
I think last year is not right comparison for him..he was all messed up with Divorce and Madonna..
dont forget the quad injury that made him miss like 25 days
and the hip for the last weeks of the season
When the jays get their injured starters back next year, they’ll have a nice glut of young pitching talent to trade from. Romero, richmond, rzcepcinski, mcgowan, marcum, litcsch
they are scary pitching wise for next year
i wouldnt trade any of them
especially with McGowan coming back from frayed labrum is no gurantee. Litcsch had surgery on 6/12 so hes not back until midseason. So depth can go away quickly- unless you’re boston
UNENVIABLE DEPTH!!!!111!!
[/gammons
And if you end up short on arms, it’s not like you can wave a magic wand and three new arms are shwoing up.
/FRANCESA’D
ha that commercial
It will be fascinating to see what happens!
/Mike Greenberg
Agreed, but I think they def should have traded, or should trade, roy. Given all that depth I don’t get why they were so fucking insistent on getting drabek AND happ. They shouldve taken a package built around the position players, brown and donald, and they’d be in much better shape going forward
USA or Mexico today? U.S. is 0-18-1 in Azteca Stadium. Big World Cup implications.
I’ll predict…Mexico wins 1-0 on an early goal.
/knows nothing about soccer
I’ll say 2-1 USA
/doesn’t know too much about Futbol but hopes that will be the score.
Depends what squad bradley’s using. the one that lost to brazil would have a good shot. tjey’ll probably draw
USA!! Depends if they have all of their good players on the field. i know they won a game last month with their C-Team. A-Team has a good shot at beating Mexico.
…isn’t the USA like the Yankees w/RISP at that stadium, like 0 for 18???
0-7 with RISP today
what the hell is a green mountain k cup?
i shopped at WB mason my fair share and never saw them
Only for vips
guess i need to get out the black card…
Green Mountain is a coffee company and K-Cups are the single use container for Kuerig Machines. Green mountain is just one of many K-Cup suppliers, but they must’ve signed a contract of some type with W.B. Mason to get mentioned all the time.
I have a Kuerig and the coffee is awesome.
That’s all if you were serious about the question. If not, then I look stupid!
no it was a serious question
thanks for explaining it to me
Gah, work out of it, A.J. Roll another one.
oh shit…cmon get out of this AJ
I’d be down for a DP right now
One pitch, two outs. Be the ball!
If you want a miracle, you’ve gotta be the miracle
[/bruce almighty’d
Stop. Talking. About. Food. Ugh.
Yankees B Team > Blue Jays ???
Spoke too soon…
Not so far.
tie game and they have 10 hits to the Yanks 4 so far.
Good jinx
…you really do only come out when we’re losing dont you?
i thought those guys were just bullshittin…
Fuck.
ughh c’mon aj!
great, another lucky hit… 3 in a row? come on.
AJ Burnett is trying to singlehandedly improve the team’s come from behind win total.
Anyone else think our outfielders, especially considering how most hard hit balls over your head are gone in this park, play too deep?
ah WTH is with Chavez getting big hits against us.
Get a DP AJ
Lucky SOBs
can a fella buy a little luck here?
Here comes Lord Charles.
Booyah.
Huge. Now get out of it, A.J.
There you go, Allen.
What does the J stand for?
James
james
He did not fear you that time, Inglett.
Good pitch AJ.
finally let inglett know he’s fucking inglett
nice k
one more out AJ
Thank God Joe West wants to get something to eat.
GAHHH That third pitch was a strike
yea it was close but the ump hasnt called that all day
Do not want to see hill up bases loaded
…Jorge. My sweet Mo.
Thanks Jorge.
fml
did gamecast make it 3-3 then take it back and make it 3-2 and put encarnacion back on third???
Now that was one Posada should have gotten.
Oh come the fuck on.
fucking A
tie fucking game
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was not good by jorge. not good at all
WTF.
ugh so annoying with these 2.
Posada needs to take some catching lessons.
Ugh, that one bounced off the plate i think.
I’m not as angry at the passed ball/wild pitch as I am at the fact that AJ threw another damn curveball. He didn’t come close to biting on the previous too, so why throw it again?
I hope we catch the Burnett of last start in the playoffs and not this Burnett…
What’s crazy about burnett is that he can be really wild and still dominant. It’s kind of a matter of luck, and how good the catcher is, whether you got seven innings 1 run or 6 innings 4 runs
So… ball coming in the dirt… You jump up to block the ball… therefore letting it go through your legs… please tell me thats a pass ball.
Posada has no fucking clue where the ball’s going. No clue
nope
Neither does AJ.
Effectively wild?
Nor the hitters, which is part of why hes so good, and sometimes difficult to watch
my god
thanks jorge
FINALLY!!!
now lets get some fucking runs
This is frustrating.
Jorge’s biggest problem has always been his inability to get his KNEES down as he moves the glove to cover the 5 hole AT THE SAME TIME.
What. The. Fist.
OK, we got out of that but that “wild pitch” is pissing me off.
cmon offense
its like deja vu with aj and posada every game. ugh.
Perhaps today’s B team should’ve included Molina in the lineup?
I was surprised posada was playing today, day after night, difficult pitcher to catch on the mound
I thought catchers were supposed to block the ball in front of them in the dirt… Jorge jumps up? im’ still confused…
I think that one bounced off the plate.
plate, dirt, block it, stay down, not up.
Didn’t look like it. The frustrating thing is that was the pitch he called for. He knew it was coming and let it go right between his legs.
He never get’s down on a knee or what not to block the ball. He always tries to “olay” it with the glove. Frustrating indeed.
B-Jays got lucky with a bloop hit and a wild pitch…we need some luck now. Hopefully we can get a hit with RISP soon.
Don’t jump on me for saying this but I’d like to see Molina catch AJ from now on. I’ve seen enough.
Yeah I agree. Put the better defensive catcher with AJ.
how do you have a career high in WP at age 32?
probably half has to do with Jorge.
By having Jorge behind the plate for you?
How come when our pitchers are dominant they never stay dominant…they last 2 or 3 starts then disappear back to mediocrity for a few…then go back to dominant.
Meanwhile, Beckett started out rough but has since been disgusting ever since. Hasn’t gone back to mediocrity once since he turned it around.
Can’t say the same for Burnett, Joba, etc…
I don’t think either joba or burnett have had the kind of career beckett has, or would be considered on his level in terms of performance. Stuff and potential yes, but not performance.
And? At least they win their starts.
Yet another example of what Yankee pitchers dislike about Jorge
Damn cano just missed that
We may be getting some people pinch hitting off the bench in the not so far away future. They didn’t really think they’d sit the entire game, did they? lol
Well, we should win the battle of the bullpens. Plus, we should see a Teix pinch hit appearance.
Toronto has had one of the best bullpens of the past few years. Ours has been a roller coaster ride but has been good lately. It’ll be interesting.
Roller coaster ride? Yeah early in the season. That’s really about it.
True…
Once we got rid of Veras…and sent down a few of the other dirty laundry…it hasn’t been that bad. Claggett is the bullpen version of Ian Kennedy…
Torontos pen is horrible.
Phil Coke!! Hava Coke and a HR! – er – I mean a smile.
LMAO swish looked like he wanted to climb over the gate and beat the crap out of the camera man haha
Here comes Scott Proc–I mean Phil Coke!
You mean Doc Proc…
Coke, really?
i feel like this guy freken pitches everyday, jeez.
and NO HRs!
phew that was close lol
…Because he’s the only lefty in the pen.
phew that was close
YES Right move. Girardi and Coke must be having a lovers quarrel.
Or he’s playing the matchups which by know we know he loves doing it. Coke is the only lefty so I don’t know why seeing Coke a lot comes as a surprise.
Bout time Girardi wised up
He needed someone to play grab ass with now that Ransom is gone
D-Rizzl time.
Coke is amazingly bad.
Oh come on be fair
Hyperbole much?
Nothing new with the majority of Yankee fans.
Alright, clearly I need to change my login name, even though I am 99.99% certain I was the first “Zack” here, dammit…
Coke is just very average. Girardi finally realizes he should only be pitching to lefty’s.
Bah. His minor league splits say different. He was a starter in the minors and did very well. He also had a long stretch this season where he was dominating.
He’s got an above average fastball and slider and should do very well in the bigs the more he matures. Keep in mind this is his first extended stint in the majors.
Coke is a Joke.
He’s more like Caffeine Free Coke…
Or shooken up, Flat Coke…
…Nope.
NEW COKE!!!
This is me being sick of Joe G’s platoon happiness.
Where have I seen this lately? The Yanks put a bunch of runners on in the early innings, don’t put it away, and then the offense takes a nap for a while.
this team put it in cruise control and they never come from behind right?
Did I say that?
Not sure where you’ve seen that. Chances are it wasn’t with the team you’re currently watching, who has won 8 of 9.
Again, I’m not saying that I’m unhappy with the team. Not at all. However, what I said is 100% fact.
The last 3 games have played out exactly like that. Can’t let talented pitchers settle down.
It’s been that way for many many years…
They’ll destroy teams for so many days…then take a xanax pill and take a nap
Then again it’s all about the pitching. Most of those Sox games were won with insane pitching (or terrible Sox offense)
Once the pitching goes sour…the team goes sour…for the most part anyway
Scoring runs is hard. Yankees do it better than pretty much anybody. Count your blessings you root for a team that scores and is always a threat to come back
Holy shit Yankee fans will never be happy and will always find a way to find something wrong with the team.
WTF? Im listening to Sterling/Waldman for the 1st time and how can two different companies sponsor the same “call to the bullpen?”
Coke to the rotation?
I keed, i keed
JoPo not having a good game behind the dish…
I’m noticing a trend. I can’t put my finger on it.
why posada?
in come the irrational people…
more wild pitches…
This is getting dan uggla in the all-star game type ugly for posada
Ha
boy not a great jorge day
Put In MOLINA!
give me a break.
Shocked these people arent asking for Cervelli.
I guess hitting the game winning HR last night doesnt matter today
Ugh, another wild pitch?
No K’s by D-rob? BUST!
cmon offense!
Attaboy drob
That’s how you earn more chances and in high leverage spots.
Coke isn’t bad. His secondary pitches are just worse this year. His slider is less effective and his change is just about league average.
So unless it’s a good day, he’s effectively a one pitch pitcher. His fastball is good, but one miss in location and trouble.
what pisses me off about coke is it always seems he comes in the face leftys and gives up hits
He’s better than Felix Heredia and Gabe White.
So you’re saying he’s a one pitch pitcher with an average fastball? And how is that good?
He has blowing Oct game written all over him.
Nice reading comprehension.
Teix to hit for pena? Hairston comes in to play short, swisher moves to right to replace hinske?
If Robertson can learn to get big outs, he will be a huge help over the next couple months…. (Probably won’t get much of a chance in October) And then could fight it out with a slew of relievers for the set-up role next year.
Posada… TEH immunity to pass balls.
You want Molina in there?
Cos Molina would def hit a homer like Posada did last night
can we please get some runs off of League today?
I absolutely love that Robertson can dial it up top 94+ on his heater.
to, not top.
TAKE IT TO their PEN!!!
Kay, you’re horrile.
and horrible too.
Hahaha he’s so horrible he’s horrile.
ah fuck close Melky
melky is back to being melky
Of fuck anybody else’s YES just get fucked up?
nope.
Who would you rather have Brian “The Flash” Bruney? Or Brandon “The Crow” League?
Nice pena! no DP guys…we need runs
nice hit for pena!
Godzilla time.
Godzilla, the juice is on you now.
If we only watched Yankee games and paid no attention to other teams around MLB, would we think Brandon League was the best pitcher in the league?
Epic fail.
ah WTF ramiro
