Funny how games like this don’t bother as much when you have an eight game lead.

  1. Jersey says:

Here’s the part where they hang another crooked number on Fister.

  2. Danny says:

    yep

its just that i feel like Joba still hasnt learned from his mistakes, he keeps on making them over and over again. heh, i guess thats what you’re gonna get from a young starter, just have to wait it out.

    • handtius says:

Exactly. You have to wait it out. You can learn from your mistake, but it take more then just knowing you’ve made one to correct it. It takes time. Once he gets to the point where he is repeating his delivery more consistently, be will get much better.

  3. handtius says:

    Bugsy: “you guys are assholes.”

Thank you very much. We’ll be here all night. Don’t forget to tip your waitress. They work hard.

  4. charlespoet says:

Would still like to see someone get Joba to get back in to the rhythm of pitching that he had in his first two starts after the All Star break. He seems to lose his rhythm and then falls in love with a pitch. Still a huge learning curve.

    • ShuutoHeat says:

Well there’s also the hitters breaking up his rhythm by stepping off the plate when he’s ready to deal. I think teams are using this tactic more against Joba. It’s annoying but legit, so it’s kind of frustrating at times.

      • V says:

If I were a pitcher, I’d be getting suspended left and right. I’m ready to pitch, you’re ready to hit, you step out of the mother fucking box, I’m planting a 95 fastball in your fucking ass.

        • ShuutoHeat says:

LoL, I hear you. It’s bad for the pitcher, think about going into the motion…loading all that power into your body and then all of a sudden someone says “stop”. It can totally hurt the guy.

        • Zack says:

you’re only allowed to do that if you’re a bulldog like Josh Beckett

        • charlespoet says:

I have to say I firmly agree with you. This taking 3 minutes to adjust your cup, glove, flick a booger, grab your ass, get planted in the box is bull shit.

Bob Gibson would never have stood for this.

  5. Salty Buggah says:

damn, 12 pitch AB, hopefully Ace has a quick inning next time through.

Cmon offense, time to score now!

    And I agree Mike

  6. Little Bill says:

Aceves wanted it more according to John Flahrety. Hopefully this is Flahrety’s last series of the season. I smell another comeback win today.

  7. Giaqueomo says:

We’re actually 3.5 games in front. B/c although division title is more important, wouldn’t it just be a LITTLE nicer if we had home field against the Angels?

  8. Salty Buggah says:

    We need a Jerry/Ramiro HR

  9. pat says:

Actually Mike, being 8 up makes me want this game even more.

  10. Little Bill says:

That was the same ball he called A-Rod out on. And it cost the Yanks another baserunner.

  11. Zack says:

Did anyone else see Frank Viola’s comments on the NESN pre game show? He said that last night’s 8 SB were just a one time thing and just bad game for Penny/Varitek.
Because Penny leading the league in SBs, the team 1st in SB allowed, and Tek having a 17% CS rate has nothing to do with it.

  12. Giaqueomo says:

    DIE UMP, DIE! ! !

    Hit a hr cano

  13. Salty Buggah says:

    Jerry shouldve walked

  14. Giaqueomo says:

this man is a weak popfly MACHINE!!!

  15. Bugsy says:

I dont know about this. We pretty much have the division locked up, no need to take abats away from Pena and as i type this cano gets a hit and makes me look like a fool.

  16. pat says:

Oh Robbie. You’d be better if you weren’t so good.

  17. Ivan says:

3 similar hits like that by DJ to the same pitcher.

  18. Bugsy says:

    bloop, bloop, ______

    fill in the blank.

  19. Danny says:

    c’mon johnny!

  20. Salty Buggah says:

if only the ump didnt call that a strike to Jerry, we’d have one in and 1 out instead of 2 outs

  21. Evan says:

Yeesh, Damon has been Fisted today.

  22. Salty Buggah says:

ah damn, Johnny is having a bad game today. I guess he was due.

  23. Giaqueomo says:

    Damon shamin’ the organization’.

  24. Jersey says:

Well, let’s hope Fister hits the showers after that…

  25. Bugsy says:

    hairy, wtf!?

  26. Salty Buggah says:

Not a great day in center for Jerry. First a bobble, now that. I hope that doesn’t make Girardi to stop using him there if needed.

  27. Brazilian Yankee says:

    What a shitty game.

  28. Evan says:

    Damn, two misreads.

  29. Bugsy says:

    damon aint no hinski.

  30. we lost says:

    it’s over, we lost……

  31. handtius says:

The M’s are getting their hits in today. It ain’t over, not by a long shot, but you can’t win everyday.

  32. Danny says:

whatever happens, we still have a 7.5 lead baby!

  33. Giaqueomo says:

Did i honestly hear YANKEES SUCK chants? Honestly? Really?

  34. pat says:

eh, puts the dp in order.

  35. Salty Buggah says:

Wasn’t Mike Everitt on our umpire shitlist?

A DP would be so awesome here

  36. Evan says:

Alright, just get that one pitch and you’re out of it still down one.

  37. Brazilian Yankee says:

Damn, I thought Ace was going to get out from that jam. Now we are screwed.

  38. Quikksand says:

    Good game Mariners. :(

  39. Bugsy says:

    didn’t joba walk this schmuck?

  40. pat says:

    WAIT A MINUTE U CAN’T STRIKE SOMEONE OUT WITH A 92MPH FASTBALL.

  41. Giaqueomo says:

Tomorrow’s “REST THE PLAYERS, WIN THE DIVISION AND GET FUCKED BY THE ANGELS BECAUSE WE WON’T HAVE HOMEFIELD” lineup is:

    1 Johnny Damon-LF
    2 Nick Swisher-RF
    3 Jerry Hairston Jr-2B
    4 Alex Rodriguez-3B
    5 Eric Hinske-1B
    6 Hideki Matsui-DH
    7 Melky Cabrera-CF
    8 Jose Molina-C
    9 Ramiro Pena-SS

    • Zack says:

Matsui has fluid in his knee so hes not playing

      • Giaqueomo says:

Tomorrow’s “REST THE PLAYERS, WIN THE DIVISION AND GET FUCKED BY THE ANGELS BECAUSE WE WON’T HAVE HOMEFIELD” lineup is:

        PREGAME TRANSACTION:

RHP David robertson designated for assignment.
Yankees purchased the contract of 1B Cody Ransom.

        1 Johnny Damon-LF
        2 Nick Swisher-RF
        3 Jerry Hairston Jr-2B
        4 Alex Rodriguez-3B
        5 Eric Hinske-1B
        6 Cody Ransom-DH
        7 Melky Cabrera-CF
        8 Jose Molina-C
        9 Ramiro Pena-SS

        • Little Bill says:

I’m with you, buddy. Winning 23 of 29 is unacceptable. Almost as unacceptable as giving a couple guys who play every day the day off after taking the first 3 of the series. Fire Girardi, fire Cashman, and DFA Joba.

    • Salty Buggah says:

      wow! this is unbelievable. Just…WOW!

    • pat says:

Dude, give it a rest, you’re being ridiculous. Guys need rest, end of story.

    • Danny says:

we took 3 out of 4 this series and you’re complaining about resting some players that havent really gotten a day off?

i think its more important that they are healthy later on so we dont get “fucked” by the angels, dont you think?

    • PinstripesForeverDougie says:

Calm down, home field through-out will not be won by never resting our players. That situation will probably decided whoever plays better in September. Also, let’s be honest, do you know we would be winning if Matsui was in the 5 hole/ Melky in center? The M’s have great pitching and are borderline wild card contenders. We are not losing to a crappy last place team. That is our next opponent, the A’s.

  42. Salty Buggah says:

big K but we still need another out. Joba wasn’t able to until they scored but I hope Ace can.

  43. Ivan says:

    Wow Aceves.

In situation like this, it always seem the 3rd out is the toughest one.

  44. Jersey says:

    HUUUUGE K

  45. pat says:

hahah ace looked like he was smiling after that.

  46. Evan says:

    Crud, another plunk.

  47. handtius says:

    wasn’t expecting that.

  48. Danny says:

    woopsie lol

  49. Ivan says:

Come on Aceves. U were this close.

  50. Quikksand says:

Well, the floodgates have officially opened.

  51. PinstripesForeverDougie says:

    can’t beat’em, hit’em

  52. Jersey says:

    Oof. That was kinda random.

  53. Salty Buggah says:

meh, 2 runs aint nothing if Gaudin holds em there.

  54. pat says:

    Isn’t Gaudin terrible against lefties….

  55. Drew says:

Interesting attempt by Swish. Granted, it was a tough play.

  56. Brazilian Yankee says:

Well, thank Mo we don’t have to watch Swisher play 1B every day.

  57. handtius says:

    Oh poop.

  58. Salty Buggah says:

ah fuck Tex gets that but oh well

  59. Brazilian Yankee says:

Looks like quikksand was right. Floodgates open indeed.

  60. Pasqua says:

Do you think we are we at the point in the season yet that we can just be glad that the Red Sox lost?

  61. PinstripesForeverDougie says:

Question? How is Gaudan able to relieve, if he’s starting on Wednesday?

  62. Bugsy says:

    meh. game ova.

  63. we lost says:

    gaudin is terrible.

  64. PinstripesForeverDougie says:

    Damn, this is getting ugly.

  65. Salty Buggah says:

It’s OK if we lose (especially since the Sox lost already) because we are gonna lose once and this is only our 2nd loss in 14 games. Hopefully we go on a streak again if we lose like after our last losses and take that streak through the heart of Bahston.

  66. Danny says:

hmmm melancon would definatly been used in this game lol

  67. Drew says:

This is where not having Mo available fucks us. Joe probably would’ve went with fireman Phil here rather than Gaudin.

  68. Giaqueomo says:

    Was Cody Ransom really deported?

  69. Brazilian Yankee says:

At least Gaudin is starting against the A’s. He looks worse than Mitre.

  70. Reilly says:

GAME OVER should be flashing on the TV screen. This sucks. And he’s gonna start?

  71. Cokie says:

Its ok. They play Oakland next.
    Licking my chops already.

  72. LivefromNewYork says:

Can I please go on record as saying it is important to rest guys when you have a comfortable lead in the standings and that people who want to go into the final stretch with an exhausted (and possbily hurt) team for the sake of sweeping a lesser team instead of being content with 3 out of 4 are delusional

My punctuation also has the day off

  73. Salty Buggah says:

Here the come the negative posters…

  74. Brazilian Yankee says:

We have 6 outs to get 6 runs. Call me crazy, but I think we can do it.

  75. Giaqueomo says:

Are we facing the “Geo” that blanked us last time out in our next series?

  76. BigBlueAL says:

Gaudin is still starting Wed right??

  77. Bugsy says:

Tomorrow’s backpages: “Yankees Get Fisted by Seattle”

  78. Who knew Giaqueomo is Italian for Lanny?

  79. Bugsy says:

this is where i stop watching.

  80. Salty Buggah says:

    Johjima = stat-padder

  81. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

What’s the largest one inning comeback we have?

    We caN do it!

  82. Salty Buggah says:

how awesome would it be if we somehow won this game with a big ninth>

not likely, but would be the best thing ever.

  83. BigBlueAL says:

For the 1st time in his life Tiger Woods has choked.

  84. pat says:

this is one of the more puzzling b-ref pages I’ve ever seen.

    http://www.baseball-reference......001—

  85. Reilly says:

Start a new streak tommorow. Hey, the Red Sox lost.
