Not to pile on Flaherty, but y’know what construction he overuses? “If you’re [x person]…”
“That slip by CC might be scary, if you’re Dave Eiland…”
“If you’re A-Rod, you should be looking for the fastball here…”
“If you’re Damon, you’re happy about that base hit…”
Idunno, it just seems remarkably inefficient to constantly set up conditional statements that apply to only one person in the world, and that person can’t hear you. Whenever I hear one, I think to myself, “oh, well, I’m not that person, so I don’t have to listen to the end of this sentence.”
This could be the start of a Flash, Singleton drinking game to make up for the times we can’t hear Kay.

I generally like Singleton, but the thing he does that bugs me is make a big deal out of miniscule, statistically meaningless hitting streaks. All the time, it’s “Melky now has a three game hitting streak, so maybe he’s ready to get going.”
oh please, don’t complain about that. There is nothing wrong with giving him an inning off. The guy has thrown a ton this year, and was way overworked last year. We need him to be ready and rested for October.
Chances are CC finishes with just 105 or so pitches. For him, that is nothing and he probably won’t be starting on three days rest for the rest of the season.
ok so you take cc out of the game when he could have easily gone 9. now you bring robertson in and get hughes and rivera warmed up to save some “bullets” (10 pitches)but burn the pen. really girardi is just a bonehead sometimes.
It’s not Joe’s fault that D-Rob throws 8 straight balls. If you can’t throw a strike you shouldn’t be on the team. Don’t go ragging on Joe for making what is probably the right move.
Relax fella. you’re coming off more like the very person you are explaining. And by the very mention of class shows me your a young and full of rage and stupidity.
Gotta be ready though. If he throws 8 straight balls, he may throw 12 straight. Then, a single brings it to a 3 run game with 2 on. Just gotta be ready in case.
The one thing about Joe G that erks me is his fear of going to anyone but Mo in the 9th when things get a little hairy. I think Robertson can get 3 outs before giving up 4 runs.
what pisses me off even more is he does dumb shit like this against bad teams but then in game against boston or tampa he wont use MO for 5 outs with a 1 run lead.
Sorry, McFly. Didn’t know you were the voice of reason. I’ll repeat. You need your orbital bones rearranged. Yeah, bringing in D-Rob with a 5 run lead is a problem.
Hey buddy, I don’t understand you’re angle here. You seem to have issues that root much deeper than my comments toward a pitcher and a manager. I hope you get that taken care of.
Again, very funny. I don’t understand why you think you’re so knowledgeable about the game. God bless you if you think you know more than me. I mean that sincerely, because I would love to meet you.
In multiple threads, you always seem to think you think you know what you’re talking about. God bless you for believing in yourself. It’s pretty funny how you didn’t believe in D-Rob tonight.
He never said he didn’t believe in him, he said it wasn’t good to throw 8 straight pitches out of the zone. You would say the same thing if Mo did it. It’s never good to walk 2 straight hitters.
It’s strange how upset you get about some posters supposedly being worked up. One might even draw the conclusion that you’re far more irritated than anyone posting on here.
There are plenty of Red Sox fans on MLBTR that deserve this treatment. We all, at the least, want the Yanks to win.
Just let it go. There are some people on this board that annoy the crap out of me. I go out of my way to avoid them even they reply to one of my postings. It could be worse, they could be Red Sox fans.
I just don’t understand how so many posters get so worked up about little things, ignoring the fact that the Yanks are the best team in the majors. It bugs the shit out of me that people can’t see the forest for the trees.
I suppose you’re referring to me for defending Joe when he had to warm up Mo in case D-Rob blew up. I guess in your eyes, defending the manager is not seeing the big picture.
A lot of folks get caught up with the emotions of the game. Winning big or not, I think most people shout at their TV if something negative happens. Now they’re simply expressing it on a message board. I can see how it would be irritating for you, and yes, some focus far too much on miniscule things. The Yankees may be doing very well, but this doesn’t mean people can’t get heated up about things.
With that said, your approach toward other commenters will, if anything, drive people to spite you, at worst. At best, they’ll ignore you and continue to complain about whatever.
So there isn’t much value in maintaining the same combative nature, unless you simply prefer to complain about something yourself — in this case people, not baseball.
We’ll end it here – I’ve never once (in this thread or otherwise) have ever found myself agreeing with Drew or handtius. We can just end it here. I’ll try to end it civilly.
Honestly, I can’t remember ever disagreeing with you on anything. I am now disagreeing with the way you are treating another poster. Saying that some deserves to be physically harmed for their opinion is just not right or constructive towards conversation.
It’s fine to disagree with people. Hell, I’ve disagreed with handtius on a few points, but, as he mentioned, personal attacks and ad hominem arguments do little to help. A little civility isn’t an unreasonable expectation.
I only know that you and Drew are the only ones I’ve ever had such a disagreement with. And it has happened. And honestly, I really don’t care that much about it. I would prefer to just drop it.
I’ve made my point with regards to the “other poster.”
It was more a culmination of other posts than a 100% reaction to tonight’s post. But tonight’s post reflected a way of thinking that is tiresome.
If you read my comment, in the context of the game you may understand where I was coming from. My first was, I thought D-Rob was over this BS. That was after he threw his 6th straight ball I believe. I said this because seeing him in recent outings, his walk rate improved mightily. I honestly thought he was done with what seemed to be rookie jitters and trying to nibble/avoid the middle of the plate.
Then, all I was doing was defending Joe when he got Phil, then Mo up. If D-Rob walked the third straight batter, then gave up a hit, we would need Mo in the game, IMO. I’m not sure where the haste came from. If you don’t agree with me on other issues, I generally am willing to explain why my opinion is what it is. If we don’t agree, I usually proclaim that there is nothing wrong with disagreeing.
There is no need to attack anyone on RAB.
As I’ve said, I’m over it. I’ve disagreed with a few posters on here (mostly handtius, Drew and vehemently with somebody who wanted Peavy on the Yanks). It might be that I disagreed with you guys on Peavy or having short-term views, but I’ve also had serious disagreements with Silva and Lombardi, who are completely nonsensical. I don’t necessarily mean to lump you with in those guys.
The reason I come to RAB is that mostly, people take the long-term view. I’m just sick of people treating every out of every game like the last out of Game 7 of the WS. I appreciate that the Yanks fans are passionate. Trust me, I’m passionate as hell, but I just wish that people would settle down.
I totally understand where you’re coming from. Hopefully everyone has calmed down (myself included) and we can let bye-byes be bye-byes (it’s a Ricky Henderson quote…seriously). No reason a tiny thing should create such a stir.
I never wanted Peavy near this club and I’m generally a long-term out-look person. So, I don’t know what we have disagreed on because i tend to take the slow and steady wins the race, we can lose a game here and there or even, gasp, 2 in a row, approach when people are clamoring when we lose 2 straight.
I honestly can not remember ever arguing with you except when you bash other posters. I am vehemently against person attacks on people. Look at my any posts in any thread and you will find me defending someone because another decides it is their place to take them down a notch, because they are so righteous. Fun little pokes are ok. we all do it. It’s not meant to be abrasive, but outright hatred and threats of violence are barbaric.
None of my points even mentioned how reasonable Drew is, but hey, it’s clearly a sore spot for you. While I don’t agree with everything he says, I haven’t found him to be unreasonable.
I’m drinking whiskey, and yes, it deserves much praise.
That was a “fun” win, I’m glad tomorrow is the gonna be the last time they’ll be playing in this dump for the rest of the regular season and (insert chuckle) possibly the post season.
I don’t know about you guys, but this one bothers me the most. It’s just depressing to look at it and it pisses me off when I watch the Yanks play here, regardless of how they play.
Totally agree, SH. Having seen the lovely park in San Francisco, it must be embarrassing to even be aware that that dump in Oakland still exists. I really hope they get a new park sometime soon.
it seems like the rangers overpaid for pudge, no? They’re giving up 2-3 minor leaguers ( i don’t know how good of prospects they are) for a guy who had to beg to get a job at the start of the season.
it’s funny how they had too many catchers last year in Ramirez, Salty, and Laird…now they had to trade for one mediocre one. See how quickly depth goes? I dont why some complain we sign too many catching prospects. At one point this season. Montero, Romine, Cervi, and another 1 I cant remember were all down.
Dang just looked at his stats, he’s been brutal this year. Maybe a Texas reunion will help his cause. At least he’s a vet, maybe he can help the youngens they have behind the dish. Especially when they have the September call ups.
now CC can settle down for an inning or two
and on to the rested bullpen arms
Did I just see Dr. Evil in the Yankee’s dugout?
lmao i was confused too, i think you’re refering to Gaudin
lol is it Gaudin? hahaha, I caught the chrome dome at the corner of my eye…and I was thinking “Dr evil?!”
hahahah yea i was like “who the hell is that?” lol
A-Rod should have run Suzuki over. Bad hip be damned! Is it still NASCAR season?
EARNHARDT!!!
i also voted CC
Thank you to the bats for waking up
Dang I wonder how fast A-Rod’s fastball is, 93?
CC is at about 68 pitches
I leave for a bit and we explode for 5 runs…I’m staying more often now so I don’t miss it.
No, leave fir three more…
Im usually good luck.
no leave!
CC SAYS NO!
imagine how awesome of a basketball player CC would be if he lost weight?
CC!
CC is beastly.
CC has reflexes like a cat!
Like a liger.
Complete game?
Burnett threw one yesterday. It would be great for the bullpen.
yea, with Chad Gaudin pitching tomorrow and the rested pen with a day off on Thursday would allow the Yanks to rest their bullpen going into the Red Sox series and allow them to use their relievers at any time tomorrow. Helps that you can have your good guys pitch an inning each, piece together 4 or more innings and still not burn even one guy.
Plus CC can challenge hitters more with a big lead and a low pitch count.
Yup. All hands on deck for Gaudin tomorrow.
Exactly. They’ll be needed tomorrow and in the Boston series for sure. It’ll be good to have them well rested for the weekend.
HOORAY BEER!
71 pitches through 6.
the last two innings have been like 8 and 6 pitches. He is settling in.
Talk about timing. I come home just in time to see the Yanks take the lead and then CC pimps his glove.
Whoo!
How biiiiig is tha suway sawich CC?
you know ZZ..
Tonight’s Recap:
Yanks too much for Chico’s Bail Bonds
haha IETC.
There ya go Melk.
AIRPLANG!
ietc
lolllllll
I love crappy defenses on opposing teams.
A’s defense FAIL
haha they suck
Wow! Another error!
great hard hit ball by jeter
Flaherty has said “sloppy” 4,182 times tonight.
I think he was staring in a mirror.
I think he was staring at YOUR MOM
/hiyoooo!
wow, are we in the 5th grade? or are you one of Flash’s fans?
i’ll take both
Adam Kennedy adn Mark Ellis are good defenders and Nomar isn’t bad himself. His error should have been a hit but Kay pisses me off sometimes.
What does Kay have to do with this?
Kay’s fake Twitter is becoming a favorite of mine.
Mine too. It’s bad when the parody isn’t that far off what Kay is really thinking, and occasionally saying.
+1, I check it during every game.
Mets:
baseball…ur doin it wrong
I can has Billy to teh 8th?
Man the Yanks love them some DP.
I don’t care right now with the lead. Maybe they can get it all out of the system so for the weekend, we can avoid constantly killing outs.
On a separate note, do you think Boston is going to adjust their rotation so that two of the three games aren’t started by Penny and Tazawa.
With their depth, I wouldn’t be surprised if they start Masterson and Smoltz.
I think they rather start a Smoak type bat.
We’re going to be in trouble when they trade Green and Okajima for a Strasburg type arm.
damn, I’d be pissed if we weren’t up 5.
CC’s at 71 pitches, I guess he’s good for about 5 more innings.
CC is DEALIN!
Wipin the brow and liftin the head
Been a long time since the Yanks have had pitchers that go deep every game. CC is a horse. 178 innings and counting.
All Mark T does is make plays
Isn’t that his job?
Oh, you mean all he does is make good plays?
haha yeah those too..
80 pitches through 7
Still want to sign smoltz to start against Boston…
What, you want to spot them one?
I’m voting for Scott Hairiston.
who’s this cat K’ing the 3-4 hitters?
Gardy would have gotten to 3rd on that.
he would have gone home actually
Is Hideki the only player in the league who could not advance to second on that? FDR could make it to second on that!
hahahahaha
nomaaaaah not having a good nite
imagine the season cano would be having if he was hitting .300 with risp.
he would be a smoak type bat
probably MVPish tbh.
maybe his dad could teach him how to hit with risp in the offseason.
or maybe he could just lead off lol. but seriously i would like to see him bat 2nd in the order when damon sits.
It will click eventually. He’s just too good…
Do you think it’s nervousness then?
i think its either in his head or he gets too aggressive. hes hitting like .360 with no one base and .200 with risp.
No idea what it is. I don’t think there is a reasonable explanation for it.
HA.
Pay attention to the game you were watching, Flash.
Golden Sombrero for Kennedy!
CC should have brushed off his shoulder after that K.
CC to Kennedy: “Im gonna make u my bitch tonight”
with that Kennedy said “hey CC, which hotel and room are you staying at?”
Sabathia shivers.
It’s playing in the major leagues-big.
lol
wanted a K from Davis there dammnit
CC >
CC for the CG?
Don’t have to make him pitch to his max every game.
Although it’s only 94… someone else could use work.
Suzuki trying to help A-rod UZR
94 through 8
I feel the complete game. With Gaudin going tomorrow we might need every arm we can find. Start warming up soon, Swisher.
Tomorrow is going to be a real shit storm at the local shit farm with the shit throwers.
But, I’m seriously wishing it would be a good start from Gaudin.
i love CC
Not to pile on Flaherty, but y’know what construction he overuses? “If you’re [x person]…”
“That slip by CC might be scary, if you’re Dave Eiland…”
“If you’re A-Rod, you should be looking for the fastball here…”
“If you’re Damon, you’re happy about that base hit…”
Idunno, it just seems remarkably inefficient to constantly set up conditional statements that apply to only one person in the world, and that person can’t hear you. Whenever I hear one, I think to myself, “oh, well, I’m not that person, so I don’t have to listen to the end of this sentence.”
he’s not good
he actually makes me miss kay
If you’re alex rodriguez you’re thinking fastball. If I’m CC I’m thinking attack the hitter. haha, yeah, he does say that shit a lot.
I think he has a mad libs book in front of him.
If you’re A-Rod, you might want some butter on that castle pitch.
SEE! DreDog gets the idea
Was ‘castle’ supposed to be an adjective?…
I failed at mad libs
Eh, you could argue it in chess terms.
en passant?
This could be the start of a Flash, Singleton drinking game to make up for the times we can’t hear Kay.

I generally like Singleton, but the thing he does that bugs me is make a big deal out of miniscule, statistically meaningless hitting streaks. All the time, it’s “Melky now has a three game hitting streak, so maybe he’s ready to get going.”
Awful. Hughes better not have to come into this game.
I kinda want Bruney out there. Am I crazy?
yes
hell no. Bruney’s been good. It really doesn’t matter who comes out but it looks like it will be D-Rob.
wait, CC ain’t going to pitch the 9th?
No, Bruney and Robertson will both get the 8th and 9th innings in games with 4+ run leads…
Who do you think gets the honors when Septemeber call ups in 5+ run games?
why not just let cc finish the game
oh please, don’t complain about that. There is nothing wrong with giving him an inning off. The guy has thrown a ton this year, and was way overworked last year. We need him to be ready and rested for October.
to save some ZZ bullets for later
it just seems like he had a really smooth and easy night and 10-15 more pitches isnt gonna kill him.
true, but neither will not throwing 10-15 pitches
Chances are CC finishes with just 105 or so pitches. For him, that is nothing and he probably won’t be starting on three days rest for the rest of the season.
Welcome to the party, my name is Drew.
Hi Drew!
Three feet to the right on all those pitches and we’re good.
Ugh, I thought D-Rob was over this bullshit. Come the fuck on.
Settle down. Do you hang out with Silva and Lombardi?
lets go Robo!
strikes please, i dont wanna see hughes.
that walk was unexpected there
Not
d-rob, work on the control mane
wow
8 straight balls
yuck
8 consecutive balls? Did we just bring Brackman up?
And people wonder why Joe was so slow to move him up the pecking order.
Really? Are you yearning for the days of Torre blowing through bullpen arms?
Are you settled the fuck down yet?
oh fuck, don’t bring MO in here
Maybe he was playing hard to get?
mo is like “are u freaking serious?” haha
OH GOOD GOD! Mo doesn’t have to get up for Christ’s sake. It’s a 5 run lead.
Mo is up in case a double turns this into a 3 run game.
Tying run on deck = save situation. Mo is up in-case there are any more baserunners at all
great K
i’d much rather have hughes warmup. he could use the work. and thank you drob for the strikes
ok so you take cc out of the game when he could have easily gone 9. now you bring robertson in and get hughes and rivera warmed up to save some “bullets” (10 pitches)but burn the pen. really girardi is just a bonehead sometimes.

Yeah, D-Rob’s a problem. Holy shit. You’re that asshole in every class that needs his face rearranged by a fist.
Relax fella. you’re coming off more like the very person you are explaining. And by the very mention of class shows me your a young and full of rage and stupidity.
I will grant you that I’m pissed off. But I can’t understand all of these know-it-alls who are pissed at D-Rob.
And yeah, handtius, I’ve had my issues with you before. We don’t even need to go into that before.
Are people really going crazy because of his performance tonight? That’s my point. People need to settle down.
What is it that people want from the Yanks?
Who went crazy? I merely said it’s not good to throw 8 straight balls.
This is some fun shit at 1:19 am. Let’s get it on!!!
ietcvm
I am torn about it. I am entertained, but I do want everyone to get along.
Easy big fella. I don’t know who’s in your “class,” but I assure you, it is not me.
im not saying it was a bad move to put drob in the game but it was a bad move to get hughes and mo warmed up after he walked the 2 with a 5 run lead.
I think Robertson can get 3 outs before giving up 4 runs.

what pisses me off even more is he does dumb shit like this against bad teams but then in game against boston or tampa he wont use MO for 5 outs with a 1 run lead.
be mad at D-rob, not Joe!
Drew, you’re nucking futs. You need a reality check.
Or a punch to the face. Either/or. You pick.
Easy now biff.
Sorry, McFly. Didn’t know you were the voice of reason. I’ll repeat. You need your orbital bones rearranged. Yeah, bringing in D-Rob with a 5 run lead is a problem.
You’re a nightmare.
Ex-wife or something, Drew?
I don’t know man. Seems like it. I think someone got into mama’s liquor cabinet.
Funny, Drew. Anytime. Anywhere. Baseball intellect. Or anything you want. You don’t have a chance. You know that full well.
Hey buddy, I don’t understand you’re angle here. You seem to have issues that root much deeper than my comments toward a pitcher and a manager. I hope you get that taken care of.
Knock it off everyone.
Again, very funny. I don’t understand why you think you’re so knowledgeable about the game. God bless you if you think you know more than me. I mean that sincerely, because I would love to meet you.

Can we all go back to hating the Red Sox?
Dude’s just begging to be banned
yey DreDog! +7
Robertson is sorta of an egnima at times.
Wrapped in a mystery
where the hell did ball 1 to Everidge miss?
Up a little bit.
not on Gameday
I didn;t have a problem with it. It was borderline.
I think he was trying to set up the triple play….
Great Comeback there D-rob!
one more out!
Filth.
K-Rob. It’s either a K or BB everytime
or a wild pitch
or a fly-out.
That would make him K-RoBB. See what I did there?
Has everyone gotten off the ledge? Holy shit. You guys need some ludes.
It’s strange how upset you get about some posters supposedly being worked up. One might even draw the conclusion that you’re far more irritated than anyone posting on here.
I don’t know what he’s reading, but he seems to be enjoying it. More power to ‘em.
Yeah, Drew. You seem to be firmly in Robertson’s corner. Wow. You’re a peach.
Some young buck’s got a bone to pick with you Drew. Watch out. internet tough-guys are the worst and scariest.
http://img48.imageshack.us/img.....adaaf0.jpg (SFW)
The funny thing is, you wouldn’t dare try it in the real world.
You tried ending it in a civil manner. A+ for effort.
Im sure you wouldnt either. Usually those type of people bring out the internet tough-guy in them. Just saying.

Why yes, I’ll have some more cheap whiskey. Thank you!

BALLGAME!!
YANKEES WIN!
Huzzah!
David Robertson >
Good game, guys! It’s nice to get a win after those two painful loses.
Ha, D-rob and JoPo havin a little fun. I love it.
Wasn’t Robertson at high 80s/low 90s with his FB earlier in the year? Now his FB is sitting 93-94. What gives?
allegedly worked with Eiland mid-season after a bad game and figured something out(mechanics wise) that brought his velocity up a notch.
Nice. Eiland gets a lot of shit, so it’s good to hear about something like that.
Yeah, baby! Good job by CC after the two solo shots. Also glad they took enough advantage (and got enough balls to drop)of the icky play by the A’s.
Did anyone notice that Mo gets a pass on the whole “clean shaven” rule? love it.
Yeah, it’s a 3 o’clock shadow. He could probably grow a Castro-beard if he wanted and they wouldn’t say much.
+42
agreed.
WIN!
woohoo!
Mo didnt really warm-up so everything is OK, he was mostly soft-tossing. No one complain about that please.
SOFT TOSSING? Who showed him how to warm up, Cone?
Next thing they’ll be giving Portuguese Breakfasts to people out there.
That was a “fun” win, I’m glad tomorrow is the gonna be the last time they’ll be playing in this dump for the rest of the regular season and (insert chuckle) possibly the post season.
Is there a worse ballpark in the MLB?
I don’t know about you guys, but this one bothers me the most. It’s just depressing to look at it and it pisses me off when I watch the Yanks play here, regardless of how they play.
Hands down the worst ballpark, IMO.
Totally agree, SH. Having seen the lovely park in San Francisco, it must be embarrassing to even be aware that that dump in Oakland still exists. I really hope they get a new park sometime soon.
To watch a game? No way. It’s the worst.
CC just goes out every day and kills it.
With the pen well rested, I’m hoping Gaudin gives us a solid 5 and we score some runs.
it seems like the rangers overpaid for pudge, no? They’re giving up 2-3 minor leaguers ( i don’t know how good of prospects they are) for a guy who had to beg to get a job at the start of the season.
I think they said that they are mid-tier prospects. Hey, I suppose if Pudge helps em get to the playoffs it will all be worth it.
it’s funny how they had too many catchers last year in Ramirez, Salty, and Laird…now they had to trade for one mediocre one. See how quickly depth goes? I dont why some complain we sign too many catching prospects. At one point this season. Montero, Romine, Cervi, and another 1 I cant remember were all down.
the thing is that all of their catchers can’t hit worth a damn. So trading for another catcher who can’t hit a damn makes even more sense for texas….
the problem is that pudge sucks this year
Dang just looked at his stats, he’s been brutal this year. Maybe a Texas reunion will help his cause. At least he’s a vet, maybe he can help the youngens they have behind the dish. Especially when they have the September call ups.
