  1. Dela G says:

now CC can settle down for an inning or two

and on to the rested bullpen arms

  2. ShuutoHeat says:

Did I just see Dr. Evil in the Yankee’s dugout?

  3. JMK says:

A-Rod should have run Suzuki over. Bad hip be damned! Is it still NASCAR season?

  4. Dela G says:

    i also voted CC

  5. A.D. says:

Thank you to the bats for waking up

  6. Drew says:

Dang I wonder how fast A-Rod’s fastball is, 93?

  7. 27 this year says:

CC is at about 68 pitches

  8. Salty Buggah says:

I leave for a bit and we explode for 5 runs…I’m staying more often now so I don’t miss it.

  9. KPR says:

    CC SAYS NO!

  10. Bugsy says:

imagine how awesome of a basketball player CC would be if he lost weight?

  11. Drew says:

    CC is beastly.

  12. Dela G says:

CC has reflexes like a cat!

    • JMK says:

Burnett threw one yesterday. It would be great for the bullpen.

      • 27 this year says:

yea, with Chad Gaudin pitching tomorrow and the rested pen with a day off on Thursday would allow the Yanks to rest their bullpen going into the Red Sox series and allow them to use their relievers at any time tomorrow. Helps that you can have your good guys pitch an inning each, piece together 4 or more innings and still not burn even one guy.

      • Moshe Mandel says:

Yup. All hands on deck for Gaudin tomorrow.

      • Little Bill says:

Exactly. They’ll be needed tomorrow and in the Boston series for sure. It’ll be good to have them well rested for the weekend.

  13. 27 this year says:

    71 pitches through 6.

  14. Riddering says:

Talk about timing. I come home just in time to see the Yanks take the lead and then CC pimps his glove.

    Whoo!

  15. Tank the Frank says:

How biiiiig is tha suway sawich CC?

  16. DreDog says:

    Tonight’s Recap:
Yanks too much for Chico’s Bail Bonds

  17. Drew says:

    There ya go Melk.

  18. Riddering says:

    AIRPLANG!

  19. JobaWockeeZ says:

I love crappy defenses on opposing teams.

  20. Drew says:

    A’s defense FAIL

    haha they suck

  21. JMK says:

    Wow! Another error!

  22. Dela G says:

great hard hit ball by jeter

  23. KPR says:

Flaherty has said “sloppy” 4,182 times tonight.

  24. 27 this year says:

Adam Kennedy adn Mark Ellis are good defenders and Nomar isn’t bad himself. His error should have been a hit but Kay pisses me off sometimes.

  25. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

    Mets:
    baseball…ur doin it wrong

I can has Billy to teh 8th?

  26. Mike Ox says:

Man the Yanks love them some DP.

    • 27 this year says:

I don’t care right now with the lead. Maybe they can get it all out of the system so for the weekend, we can avoid constantly killing outs.

On a separate note, do you think Boston is going to adjust their rotation so that two of the three games aren’t started by Penny and Tazawa.

  27. Salty Buggah says:

damn, I’d be pissed if we weren’t up 5.

  28. Drew says:

CC’s at 71 pitches, I guess he’s good for about 5 more innings.

  29. Dela G says:

    CC is DEALIN!

Wipin the brow and liftin the head

  30. 27 this year says:

Been a long time since the Yanks have had pitchers that go deep every game. CC is a horse. 178 innings and counting.

  31. Dela G says:

All Mark T does is make plays

  32. 27 this year says:

    80 pitches through 7

  33. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

Still want to sign smoltz to start against Boston…

  34. JMK says:

    I’m voting for Scott Hairiston.

  35. Dela G says:

    who’s this cat K’ing the 3-4 hitters?

  36. Salty Buggah says:

Gardy would have gotten to 3rd on that.

  37. JMK says:

Is Hideki the only player in the league who could not advance to second on that? FDR could make it to second on that!

  38. Dela G says:

nomaaaaah not having a good nite

  39. acb says:

imagine the season cano would be having if he was hitting .300 with risp.

  40. Evan says:

Pay attention to the game you were watching, Flash.

  41. Salty Buggah says:

    Golden Sombrero for Kennedy!

CC should have brushed off his shoulder after that K.

  42. Ivan says:

CC to Kennedy: “Im gonna make u my bitch tonight”

  43. Salty Buggah says:

wanted a K from Davis there dammnit

  44. JSquared says:

    CC >

  45. Danny says:

    CC for the CG?

  46. Salty Buggah says:

Suzuki trying to help A-rod UZR

  47. 27 this year says:

    94 through 8

  48. JMK says:

I feel the complete game. With Gaudin going tomorrow we might need every arm we can find. Start warming up soon, Swisher.

    • ShuutoHeat says:

Tomorrow is going to be a real shit storm at the local shit farm with the shit throwers.

But, I’m seriously wishing it would be a good start from Gaudin.

  49. Dela G says:

    i love CC

  50. baravelli says:

Not to pile on Flaherty, but y’know what construction he overuses? “If you’re [x person]…”
“That slip by CC might be scary, if you’re Dave Eiland…”
“If you’re A-Rod, you should be looking for the fastball here…”
“If you’re Damon, you’re happy about that base hit…”

Idunno, it just seems remarkably inefficient to constantly set up conditional statements that apply to only one person in the world, and that person can’t hear you. Whenever I hear one, I think to myself, “oh, well, I’m not that person, so I don’t have to listen to the end of this sentence.”

  51. DreDog says:

I kinda want Bruney out there. Am I crazy?

  52. acb says:

why not just let cc finish the game

  53. 27 this year says:

Chances are CC finishes with just 105 or so pitches. For him, that is nothing and he probably won’t be starting on three days rest for the rest of the season.

  54. JMK says:

Three feet to the right on all those pitches and we’re good.

  55. Drew says:

Ugh, I thought D-Rob was over this bullshit. Come the fuck on.

  56. Danny says:

    lets go Robo!

  57. Dela G says:

    that walk was unexpected there

  58. Dela G says:

d-rob, work on the control mane

  59. Dela G says:

    wow

    8 straight balls

    yuck

  60. JMK says:

8 consecutive balls? Did we just bring Brackman up?

  61. Drew says:

And people wonder why Joe was so slow to move him up the pecking order.

  62. Charlie says:

oh fuck, don’t bring MO in here

  63. JMK says:

Maybe he was playing hard to get?

  64. Danny says:

mo is like “are u freaking serious?” haha

  65. Little Bill says:

OH GOOD GOD! Mo doesn’t have to get up for Christ’s sake. It’s a 5 run lead.

  66. Dela G says:

    great K

  67. Charlie says:

i’d much rather have hughes warmup. he could use the work. and thank you drob for the strikes

  68. acb says:

ok so you take cc out of the game when he could have easily gone 9. now you bring robertson in and get hughes and rivera warmed up to save some “bullets” (10 pitches)but burn the pen. really girardi is just a bonehead sometimes.

    • Drew says:

It’s not Joe’s fault that D-Rob throws 8 straight balls. If you can’t throw a strike you shouldn’t be on the team. Don’t go ragging on Joe for making what is probably the right move.

      • Yankee1010 says:

Yeah, D-Rob’s a problem. Holy shit. You’re that asshole in every class that needs his face rearranged by a fist.

        • handtius says:

Relax fella. you’re coming off more like the very person you are explaining. And by the very mention of class shows me your a young and full of rage and stupidity.

          • Yankee1010 says:

I will grant you that I’m pissed off. But I can’t understand all of these know-it-alls who are pissed at D-Rob.

And yeah, handtius, I’ve had my issues with you before. We don’t even need to go into that before.

Are people really going crazy because of his performance tonight? That’s my point. People need to settle down.

What is it that people want from the Yanks?

        • Drew says:

Easy big fella. I don’t know who’s in your “class,” but I assure you, it is not me.

      • acb says:

im not saying it was a bad move to put drob in the game but it was a bad move to get hughes and mo warmed up after he walked the 2 with a 5 run lead.

        • Drew says:

Gotta be ready though. If he throws 8 straight balls, he may throw 12 straight. Then, a single brings it to a 3 run game with 2 on. Just gotta be ready in case.

  69. handtius says:

The one thing about Joe G that erks me is his fear of going to anyone but Mo in the 9th when things get a little hairy. I think Robertson can get 3 outs before giving up 4 runs.

  70. JMK says:

I don’t hate on Girardi much, but he does that way too often. We’re up 5 runs and he gets Rivera warming up.

  71. Ivan says:

Robertson is sorta of an egnima at times.

  72. Salty Buggah says:

where the hell did ball 1 to Everidge miss?

  73. ShuutoHeat says:

I think he was trying to set up the triple play….

  74. Dela G says:

    Great Comeback there D-rob!

    one more out!

  75. Esteban says:

    K-Rob. It’s either a K or BB everytime

  76. Yankee1010 says:

Has everyone gotten off the ledge? Holy shit. You guys need some ludes.

    • JMK says:

It’s strange how upset you get about some posters supposedly being worked up. One might even draw the conclusion that you’re far more irritated than anyone posting on here.

      • Drew says:

I don’t know what he’s reading, but he seems to be enjoying it. More power to ‘em.

      • Yankee1010 says:

I just don’t understand how so many posters get so worked up about little things, ignoring the fact that the Yanks are the best team in the majors. It bugs the shit out of me that people can’t see the forest for the trees.

        • Drew says:

I suppose you’re referring to me for defending Joe when he had to warm up Mo in case D-Rob blew up. I guess in your eyes, defending the manager is not seeing the big picture.

        • JMK says:

A lot of folks get caught up with the emotions of the game. Winning big or not, I think most people shout at their TV if something negative happens. Now they’re simply expressing it on a message board. I can see how it would be irritating for you, and yes, some focus far too much on miniscule things. The Yankees may be doing very well, but this doesn’t mean people can’t get heated up about things.

With that said, your approach toward other commenters will, if anything, drive people to spite you, at worst. At best, they’ll ignore you and continue to complain about whatever.

So there isn’t much value in maintaining the same combative nature, unless you simply prefer to complain about something yourself — in this case people, not baseball.

          • Yankee1010 says:

I guess I missed the part where “Drew” has been reasonable. God bless what you’re drinking or smoking.

            • handtius says:

yes you did. It’s that simple. you missed it.

              • Yankee1010 says:

We’ll end it here – I’ve never once (in this thread or otherwise) have ever found myself agreeing with Drew or handtius. We can just end it here. I’ll try to end it civilly.

I will give it this shot.

                • handtius says:

Honestly, I can’t remember ever disagreeing with you on anything. I am now disagreeing with the way you are treating another poster. Saying that some deserves to be physically harmed for their opinion is just not right or constructive towards conversation.

                • Drew says:

To be honest, I don’t remember disagreeing with Yank101 in previous posts either.

                • JMK says:

It’s fine to disagree with people. Hell, I’ve disagreed with handtius on a few points, but, as he mentioned, personal attacks and ad hominem arguments do little to help. A little civility isn’t an unreasonable expectation.

                • Yankee1010 says:

                  Fair enough.

I only know that you and Drew are the only ones I’ve ever had such a disagreement with. And it has happened. And honestly, I really don’t care that much about it. I would prefer to just drop it.

I’ve made my point with regards to the “other poster.”

It was more a culmination of other posts than a 100% reaction to tonight’s post. But tonight’s post reflected a way of thinking that is tiresome.

                • Drew says:

If you read my comment, in the context of the game you may understand where I was coming from. My first was, I thought D-Rob was over this BS. That was after he threw his 6th straight ball I believe. I said this because seeing him in recent outings, his walk rate improved mightily. I honestly thought he was done with what seemed to be rookie jitters and trying to nibble/avoid the middle of the plate.

Then, all I was doing was defending Joe when he got Phil, then Mo up. If D-Rob walked the third straight batter, then gave up a hit, we would need Mo in the game, IMO. I’m not sure where the haste came from. If you don’t agree with me on other issues, I generally am willing to explain why my opinion is what it is. If we don’t agree, I usually proclaim that there is nothing wrong with disagreeing.
There is no need to attack anyone on RAB.

              • Yankee1010 says:

As I’ve said, I’m over it. I’ve disagreed with a few posters on here (mostly handtius, Drew and vehemently with somebody who wanted Peavy on the Yanks). It might be that I disagreed with you guys on Peavy or having short-term views, but I’ve also had serious disagreements with Silva and Lombardi, who are completely nonsensical. I don’t necessarily mean to lump you with in those guys.

The reason I come to RAB is that mostly, people take the long-term view. I’m just sick of people treating every out of every game like the last out of Game 7 of the WS. I appreciate that the Yanks fans are passionate. Trust me, I’m passionate as hell, but I just wish that people would settle down.

                • Salty Buggah says:

Besides the occasional Bo/Lanny/Giacomo, no one is like that for the most part at RAB though.

                • JMK says:

I totally understand where you’re coming from. Hopefully everyone has calmed down (myself included) and we can let bye-byes be bye-byes (it’s a Ricky Henderson quote…seriously). No reason a tiny thing should create such a stir.

I wish you a pleasant evening, good sir.

                • handtius says:

I never wanted Peavy near this club and I’m generally a long-term out-look person. So, I don’t know what we have disagreed on because i tend to take the slow and steady wins the race, we can lose a game here and there or even, gasp, 2 in a row, approach when people are clamoring when we lose 2 straight.

I honestly can not remember ever arguing with you except when you bash other posters. I am vehemently against person attacks on people. Look at my any posts in any thread and you will find me defending someone because another decides it is their place to take them down a notch, because they are so righteous. Fun little pokes are ok. we all do it. It’s not meant to be abrasive, but outright hatred and threats of violence are barbaric.

            • JMK says:

None of my points even mentioned how reasonable Drew is, but hey, it’s clearly a sore spot for you. While I don’t agree with everything he says, I haven’t found him to be unreasonable.

I’m drinking whiskey, and yes, it deserves much praise.

  77. Dela G says:

    BALLGAME!!

    YANKEES WIN!

  78. Esteban says:

    Huzzah!

  79. JSquared says:

    David Robertson >

  80. JMK says:

Good game, guys! It’s nice to get a win after those two painful loses.

  81. Drew says:

Ha, D-rob and JoPo havin a little fun. I love it.

  82. Nikhil R. says:

Wasn’t Robertson at high 80s/low 90s with his FB earlier in the year? Now his FB is sitting 93-94. What gives?

  83. Evan says:

Yeah, baby! Good job by CC after the two solo shots. Also glad they took enough advantage (and got enough balls to drop)of the icky play by the A’s.

  84. handtius says:

Did anyone notice that Mo gets a pass on the whole “clean shaven” rule? love it.

  85. Salty Buggah says:

    WIN!

  86. Danny says:

    woohoo!

  87. Salty Buggah says:

Mo didnt really warm-up so everything is OK, he was mostly soft-tossing. No one complain about that please.

    • DreDog says:

SOFT TOSSING? Who showed him how to warm up, Cone?
Next thing they’ll be giving Portuguese Breakfasts to people out there.

  88. ShuutoHeat says:

That was a “fun” win, I’m glad tomorrow is the gonna be the last time they’ll be playing in this dump for the rest of the regular season and (insert chuckle) possibly the post season.

    • JMK says:

Is there a worse ballpark in the MLB?

      • ShuutoHeat says:

I don’t know about you guys, but this one bothers me the most. It’s just depressing to look at it and it pisses me off when I watch the Yanks play here, regardless of how they play.

Hands down the worst ballpark, IMO.

        • JMK says:

Totally agree, SH. Having seen the lovely park in San Francisco, it must be embarrassing to even be aware that that dump in Oakland still exists. I really hope they get a new park sometime soon.

      • Yankee1010 says:

To watch a game? No way. It’s the worst.

  89. Drew says:

CC just goes out every day and kills it.

With the pen well rested, I’m hoping Gaudin gives us a solid 5 and we score some runs.

  90. Charlie says:

it seems like the rangers overpaid for pudge, no? They’re giving up 2-3 minor leaguers ( i don’t know how good of prospects they are) for a guy who had to beg to get a job at the start of the season.

    • Drew says:

I think they said that they are mid-tier prospects. Hey, I suppose if Pudge helps em get to the playoffs it will all be worth it.

      • Salty Buggah says:

it’s funny how they had too many catchers last year in Ramirez, Salty, and Laird…now they had to trade for one mediocre one. See how quickly depth goes? I dont why some complain we sign too many catching prospects. At one point this season. Montero, Romine, Cervi, and another 1 I cant remember were all down.

        • Dela G says:

the thing is that all of their catchers can’t hit worth a damn. So trading for another catcher who can’t hit a damn makes even more sense for texas….

      • Dela G says:

the problem is that pudge sucks this year

        • Drew says:

Dang just looked at his stats, he’s been brutal this year. Maybe a Texas reunion will help his cause. At least he’s a vet, maybe he can help the youngens they have behind the dish. Especially when they have the September call ups.
