  1. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Let’s go Mexican Gangster!!!

  2. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

Too long? Cano should of caught the ball but I hear ya.

  3. Dela G says:

left him in too long? i would’ve kept him in there. Its not entirely his fault the bases are loaded with 1 out. I think he could get out of the jam, and he was mighty pissed about it.

  4. Esteban says:

Gaudin looked shocked when Girardi came out of the dugout

    • Zack says:

he wanted 5 innings for the W

      • Drew says:

not sure i like that. this is bigger than chad and his former squirrel beard.

        • Zack says:

eh, all pitchers are like that, and managers do it to send a message (although i think this was because of pitch count)

remember the Smoltz game? Joba loaded the bases in the 5th with what a 6 run lead and didnt he start off with 8 straight balls or something? Joe said he didnt get Kotchman(i think?) out then he would have been pulled

          • Drew says:

Yeah it was Kotchman, he had that weak hack at the slider. I don’t mind Chad being pissed. He just seemed to be a bit too demonstrative for my liking. But hey, if he pitches how he did today and keeps the little ‘tude it won’t bother me. We’re in line for the W.

  5. Brazilian Yankee says:

Cano screwed Gaudin. Might have cost him the win.

  6. chriskeo says:

which of those runners would be unearned runs if they score

  7. zs190 says:

Ace hasn’t been doing well and this is a really tough spot. I wish we could use Hughes in this spot but of course he can’t be used this early by the rulebook.

  8. Tom Zig says:

    BEAUTIFUL!

  9. Dela G says:

    Ace with the DP!

  10. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

    Now that was Gangsta.

  11. Mike Axisa says:

    Incredible. Way to go Mex-Ganster.

  12. Aceves lets Gaudin and Jeter off the hook. Way to be, Al.

  13. Danny says:

    MEXICAN GANGSTAAHH.

  14. JSquared says:

Gaudin likes the DP… no homo.

  15. Bugsy says:

    Bullpen Ace

do you think he’ll be the 5th starter next year?

  16. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Atta boy Ace!

  17. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Clutch

  18. nyrfan says:

    you can call me al

  19. Drew says:

I’m not quite sure why Gaudin was so shocked. If I read his lips correctly, he said “you’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” as he walked off the field. I know he’s frustrated but, c’mon man. Ace money backin u up.

  20. Okay…THAT was an adventure in RF.

  21. nyrfan says:

he looks pissed…and he should be..shoulda let him go for the w

  22. JMK says:

Sort of off-topic: Why do so many NY-area teams end in “ets”? Jets, Mets, Nets. Does this sort of thing happen anywhere else?

  23. Danny says:

    ugh, yucky inning.

  24. Dela G says:

i hope gaudin uses this as motivation to do a little better next time

he was very good compared to what i was expecting. I wish him nothing but the best. I loved seeing that rather than sergio “i loooooooooove that Hi-WHIP” Meat-Tray

    • ShuutoHeat says:

Gaudin didn’t do bad, I feel what we saw tonight is pretty encouraging.
Problem with him, is that his pitches “move” too much. So finding the strike zone for him might be a problem. Which in turn drove his pitch count up.

    • Zack says:

he did walk 5 guys in a lineup that’s 11th in OBP. it was nice first start, but lets not forget they’re a shitty lineup

  25. Dela G says:

    wow

i was shocked that left the yard

  26. Bugsy says:

    bandbox

  27. JSquared says:

    TEH BANDBOX WIND!!1!

  28. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Cust sucks!

  29. JMK says:

I thought that would be a weak pop to center. Nowhere near a homer.

  30. nyrfan says:

    should have left gaudin in….

  31. Dela G says:

    great recovery by Ace there

    on to TEH 7th!

  32. John Flaherty’s entire world view has been shaken by the fact that a ball got out at the Coliseum at night.

  33. ShuutoHeat says:

damn shit farm of a stadium…

  34. acb says:

aceves has given up 9 hrs out of 50 hits this year.

    • 27 this year says:

yea but he has been a real good guy for most of the season. Every bullpen pitcher has periods where they struggle and only closers are usually good year in year out. Aceves still hasn’t been quite figured out and he has served his purpose.

      • acb says:

yeah i agree i think hes been so effective because he has multiple pitches that always seem to be working. but if hes figured out im pretty sure he will get crushed.

  35. Bugsy says:

    maybe we’ll see bruney

    • 27 this year says:

I think it is going to go Bruney/Coke/Hughes for 7th and 8th and then Mo unless the lead grows in which case Mo might not pitch.

  36. JSquared says:

    Cust Steroiding it out.

  37. JMK says:

Charlie Finley and the A’s: Playing Moneyball before the birth of Billy Beane.

  38. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

Is this stadium in Oakland the worst sports venue in all of sports today? I mean besides the little league ballpark with the handball court in left field.

  39. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Not Cano’s best game.

  40. acb says:

by the time gardner is back melky is gonna be back at his usual .240 avg.

  41. You disappoint me, Rangers.

  42. 27 this year says:

noMaas has a quote they found from Jack Cust saying what a joke the Mitchell report was because the Red Sox weren’t on it.

  43. Wow, did you really just go there, Kenny? Awful.

  44. Bugsy says:

perfect definition of “nose to toes”

  45. Rajai Davis is so annoying.

  46. Bugsy says:

    oh, that rajai davis

  47. Danny says:

    Davis, you annoy me.

  48. kunaldo says:

can someone tell me why bruney is warming and not hughes? the only situation he’s allowed to pitch in(the 8th of a close game) is coming up…unless he’s injured, he should be coming in no matter work…dude needs some work

  49. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Rajai Davis a horrible person.

  50. Esteban says:

    Happy Birthday to me

  51. JMK says:

I’ve never killed a man, but if I thought I could get away with it, I’d kill Rajai Davis. Of course, playing for Oakland might already be a fate worse than death.

  52. Rajai rocking the stirrups. Nice.

  53. Bugsy says:

CC would have had that .

  54. Dela G says:

    damn Ace

  55. Mike Axisa says:

This would be a great time for Girardi to bring his best non-closer reliever in.

  56. ere says:

Aceves’ second half stats–not so good

  57. Brazilian Yankee says:

Joe G., where’s the quick hook now?

  58. Danny says:

    Donde esta Huuuuughes?

  59. Bugsy says:

omg. i’ll kill girardi if he doesnt use hughes this game.

  60. Dela G says:

    ugh

i know coke has got this

  61. Brazilian Yankee says:

He definately left Aceves in there for too long.

  62. Salty Buggah says:

damn, cmon get out of this please

  63. Ivan says:

    Wats wit Ace.

  64. Danny says:

oh boy, okay Cokie impress your parents by getting this guy out. kthnxbye

  65. JobaWockeeZ says:

So how is Hughes such an invaluable member of the bullpen if he’s never getting used? It went from starter –> long man –> 8th Inning guy –> someone just there.

    • Drew says:

We know Joe plays matchups, I don’t mind it honestly. Our biggest “problem” with everyone pitching well in the pen and in the rotation is getting them consistent appearances.

  66. JMK says:

Have virtually all the runs against us this road trip come with 2 outs?

  67. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Good job Coke.

  68. Dela G says:

    cokie = awesome

    more offense my yankee friends

  69. V says:

Man, PeteAbe falls for the allure of the narrative way too quickly. Aceves is ‘off’ because he made a spot start on July 9th. Huh?

August 7th and August 10th beg to differ, d00d.

    • JMK says:

I think Abe does a good job of gathering news but his analysis is often pretty asinine.

    • Drew says:

Coming into July 9th he had a TWO era. Hey Pete, maybe he’s just not the greatest reliever in baseball… He’s been more than solid, I guess Pete had expectations that are only achieved by the likes of Mo.

  70. Danny says:

    canz i have a huughez?

  71. Ivan says:

Yankee offense score some runs…….preferly 10.

  72. Dela G says:

    wow

    that K was unexpected

  73. Dela G says:

    DAMN YOU DAVIS!!

  74. Salty Buggah says:

thought that wasnt a hard catch…fuckin Davis

  75. Danny says:

    really, davis…. ugh

  76. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

I would like some runs please!

  77. Salty Buggah says:

ah fuck…I thought Texy had another one

  78. Bugsy says:

    keep those chants cooming, assholes.

  79. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Who’s winning you idiots?

  80. JMK says:

Is that a Yankees suck chant? Those 12 fans in Oakland are awfully loud.

  81. V says:

God, these umpires are beyond worthless.

  82. Drew says:

    haha. Gotta love Reggie.

  83. Brazilian Yankee says:

That’s gotta be one of the worst calls ever.

  84. Dela G says:

that was bullshit on strike 3

seriously ump? you haven’t been calling that all day

  85. Salty Buggah says:

meh on Gameday its close enough

  86. Danny says:

    lol Reggie, my thoughts exactly

  87. Ivan says:

    How was that a strike?

  88. Danny says:

    Does Horton hear a HUUUGHESSS?

  89. JMK says:

We should have Hughes and Mo up. I don’t want to jump the gun but this is in the bag.

  90. Bugsy says:

    i remember this guy!

  91. Dela G says:

that camera angle thing was cool

  92. Salty Buggah says:

    heh its Hughes

  93. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Hughes is alive!

  94. Hey, look! Phil Hughes!

  95. Dela G says:

man i forgot he was on this team!

  96. Zack says:

Hughes is in, everyone can stop crying now

  97. Danny says:

    wtf ump??

  98. JMK says:

But it’s a little high? That wasn’t nearly as high as the strike to Tex.

  99. JobaWockeeZ says:

I can stop bitching now! That’s Joe!

  100. dkidd says:

    nice to see hughes

unrelated note: adam wainwright is for real

  101. Bugsy says:

why is not throwing strikes? me no like this hughes…

  102. Dela G says:

    jesus christ

this is an inconsistent ass umpire

  103. Salty Buggah says:

    cmon Phil, no runs please

  104. Brazilian Yankee says:

3-2 pitch hit the exact same spot as the strikeout pitch to Tex. It should have been called a strike.

  105. Ivan says:

    Come on Hughes.

  106. Phil: K this dude so he can have a true TTO night.

  107. Danny says:

LIESS, thats the same pitch teix struck out on

  108. V says:

Well, Hughes just struck out Teixeira three times.

  109. JobaWockeeZ says:

    This ump is great.

  110. Dela G says:

    ARE YOU SERIOUS???

    THIS IS BS!

  111. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

    This umpire blows dog.

  112. Bugsy says:

fuck this guy. let’s find out what hotel he’s staying and mug him.

  113. Salty Buggah says:

    this ump is VERY inconsistent

  114. Brazilian Yankee says:

After that BS call to Tex, we should have got that call.

  115. Ivan says:

    That was close.

  116. Quikksand says:

    I can’t watch.

  117. Bugsy says:

    shit shit shit

  118. V says:

    Fuck, curve didn’t bite enough.

  119. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

    Unfuckinbelievable.

  120. Salty Buggah says:

    ah damn, cmon Hughes!

  121. Rust…Hughes has it.

  122. Dela G says:

    ugh

    thanks you effing idiot ump

  123. Ivan says:

Wow Nomar is the PR. funny.

  124. Danny says:

funny, why are they 2 people on base and nobody out? i could’ve sworn he struck those 2 out.

    damn ump.

  125. Salty Buggah says:

    can I get a DP?

  126. Ivan says:

    Nice cutter there.

  127. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

I cant wait for the Yanks to board the plane and leave this F’n stadium and these F’n Umps behind

  128. JMK says:

I hope I didn’t jinx us guys by saying, “It’s in the bag” earlier. DP please?

  129. JMK says:

    I have redeemed myself!!!!!!

  130. Ivan says:

    Nice!!!!

  131. JGS says:

    yay live look in

  132. Mike Axisa says:

Damn, A-Rod should have gone for three. A bunch of slugs on the base paths.

  133. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

    Tex is worth every penny.

  134. Dela G says:

    WHAT AN AWESOME GIDP!!!

    THANK MO!

  135. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Sweet DP!

  136. Aj says:

Yes it was a great catch but it was a headsup play by Alex. Lazy? I dunno about that.

  137. Esteban says:

    Throw to first Scott Brosius!

  138. Salty Buggah says:

nice job Alex…can I get one mo out Hughes?

  139. Quikksand says:

    DOUBLE PLAY!

  140. Bugsy says:

ok. he had it all along. never a doubt, right?

  141. ShuutoHeat says:

Great, I go to the bathroom to build my own Oakland Stadium in my own toilet and I come back to this? Damn shit farming excuses for athletes.

  142. Danny says:

    woot woot!

  143. Ivan says:

    Phil Hughes is that dude.

  144. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Hey hey, nice escape Phil.

  145. Quikksand says:

We’re out of this inning! Nice! Nice! Nice!

  146. Dela G says:

phil hughes got some of that houdini magic from gaudin and ace

  147. Quikksand says:

    Please get insurance runs.

  148. Salty Buggah says:

I think Philly learned a bit as a pitcher tonight.

  149. Lanny says:

Anyone want to say how the 8th and the set up crew isnt important again? How anyone can do it? Hughes has completely changed this team.

  150. Esteban says:

A-Rod needs to go on a tear for the rest of the season/playoffs

  151. Dela G says:

it seems like a-rod was just up to bat last inning

  152. V says:

Wow, that 15 inning game is ALREADY a Yankees Classic, rofl. Too soon for me to watch it AGAIN lol.

  153. Bugsy says:

    man, he looks bad.

  154. JMK says:

A-Rod has looked pretty bad tonight.

  155. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

ARod needs that day off tomorrow.

  156. JMK says:

Stop swinging at the first pitch!

  157. Dela G says:

    jeez

a-rod needs that off day tomorrow almost as much as jopo

He is still hitting >.285 since that FLA 2 day off thing

  158. Danny says:

    A-Rod :/

  159. Salty Buggah says:

Can I get 3 HRs at least in the Boston series Alex?

  160. Salty Buggah says:

    Can I get a 1-2-3 inning Mo?

  161. Danny says:

    lets go mo.

  162. Mike Axisa says:

End this shit now Mo. No fucking around. Long flight tonight.

  163. dkidd says:

terrible at-bats tonight. once tex hit the homer, everyone was like “lets get to the airport”

  164. Salty Buggah says:

    Can’t catch pop-ups…

  165. JMK says:

If Rajai Davis gets on base, I’m flying out to Oakland. Bad things will happen.

  166. Dela G says:

this ump can rot in ump hell

  167. Danny says:

Mo is not impressed by Rajai Davis’s unlimited range

  168. Drew says:

    thuhuhuhuhuhuhuhhhhhhhhhhh Yankees Win!

      • JMK says:

Dela–what are you still doing in your hotel room in Toronto? Having been to Toronto, I must say, there are a ton of really nifty bars and clubs (if that’s your thing).

Explore the city and exploit your liver!

        • Dela G says:

haha i am leaving for texas in about 1 hour. We are driving to texas, so i have to stay up. I have gone out after yankees games during this trip :D Its about a 27ish hour drive back to texas. Should be a fun non-stop drive

I have drank so much on this trip. I got about 5 bottles of crown from the beer store for next to nothing!

          • JMK says:

Holy lord! Sounds like a fun (and long) trip. Any particular reason you’re taking a road trip from X to Toronto to Texas?

I took a road trip once when I turned 18 and ended up getting stabbed in Chicago. Hopefully your trip ends better than mine did.

            • Dela G says:

oh wow thats no good! I hope you are much better now :) . I live in houston when i am not in school in college station, tx. During my roadtrip, i went to montreal, toronto, niagara, nova scotia and back to toronto. It was a lot of driving the past 2 weeks, but i’m glad to be going home. Me and my friends are ready to go back to our own homes and sleeping in our own beds :)

              • JMK says:

Yeah, I’m fine, it was five years ago. That’s quite a trip you took. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Montreal (living in Burlington, VT, it’s a nice refuge), and that is a wonderful, eclectic city. You must be happy to head home, though. School is starting back up pretty soon, I bet, so you’ll need your rest.

  169. Salty Buggah says:

    Thanks Mo…WIN!!!!

  170. Yankee Von Homerdinger says:

    NIce.
I wouldn’t even shower. I would want to get on that plane as fast as I can and get the fuck out of that toilet called Oakland.

  171. JMK says:

I’m so psyched we got Tex. It’s a joy to watch him play baseball.

  172. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    WIN

  173. Danny says:

5-2 on the west coast road trip, i thought these were supossed to bring down the yanks?

  174. Salty Buggah says:

good game going on in LA with STL if anyone wants more baseball

  175. Tom Zig says:

Sox are 6-3 since being swept by us…

However, they faced the free-swinging Tigers
Lost 2 to Texas, won one when Texas’ closer shat himself
    Andd played the Blue Jays.

    I am not impressed
