i am praying with you that it happens

  2. The Fallen Phoenix says:

The Yankees will bring the winning run to the plate in this game.

  3. Jim says:

and he’ll strike out looking to end the game.

    i love my optimism

  4. Dela G says:

i can’t believe how lucky tazawa is getting

EVERY OUT (save jeter’s ground out) has been a crushed ball to someone

  5. V says:

No, you’re wrong Mr. Axisa, because this game is OVER.

It’s OVER I said, why are you people still here? Turn off the blog, because the game is OVER.

    /Tank the Frank’d.

  6. Salty Buggah says:

I say the Yanks WILL win this game.

  7. E-ROC says:

Hopefully AJ can give the Yanks those precious innings.

  8. JMK says:

We’re facing TAZAWA! We’re not dead, yet!

  9. Bugsy says:

look at that, he can still get outs.

  10. Jim says:

If the yankees win this game, i’ll donate $9mill to the V foundation

  11. Moose Balls says:

AJ is an absolute fuckin’ joke when pitching against the SOX in Boston. But for ONE good outing this year, he’s given up 20 fuckin runs in 10 innings in Boston. Thats totally unaccpetable. The only reason we signed him was to beat Boston. His body language is awful in Boston and it looks like he doesnt even care out there.

The only thing going for us is that we’ll have homefield advantage if we play Boston in the ALCS, so AJ can pitch in Yankee stadium rather than Boston. But for that one solace, I have zero faith in him pitching in Boston.

    • Jim says:

i agree. but i can guarantee u that 50 angry, flaming posts will follow this one

    • Bugsy says:

      go back to your cave

    • Salty Buggah says:

There’s so much wrong with this inane rant, I don’t what to say.

“The only reason we signed him was to beat Boston”

      yea…

    • The Fallen Phoenix says:

Really? Here I thought the Yankees signed AJ Burnett because he’s, you know, a good pitcher who they planned to deploy against every team in the league, not just Boston.

Hm. I’ve been wrong before, though.

    • DF says:

His body language? Seriously? I mean, he’s not even Dominican.

    • Bugsy says:

i wish you could see my body language

    • JMK says:

The only time his facial expression doesn’t scream “apathy” is when he’s giving the cream to his teammates on walk-offs. We didn’t sign him just to beat Boston. We signed him to be a front-of-the-rotation starter, throwing an ERA in the mid-3′s. Yeah, we expect him to play well in Boston because it’s indicative of a high-pressure capability, but that’s not why we sign guys.

It’s only been a few starts, and it hasn’t been encouraging thus far, but it’s a small sample size. We both agree that he has to pitch better though.

  12. Dela G says:

i wonder if AJ could go 5 or 6

  13. Jim says:

yeah dickweed, strike out the side when the GAME IS ALREADY OVER

  14. Bugsy says:

that punk! looks like he was getting unlucky. yes, it’s known to happen in baseball.

  15. Salty Buggah says:

Hey, if AJ keeps that up. He can go 6 innings!

  16. Dela G says:

good to remember that curve ball is fuckin filthy

  17. GG says:

come on Yanks, put some runs up!!

  18. danny says:

well at least he combusted during the early innings so that we have time to come back, oh how kind he is

  19. Jim says:

Wow, another unlucky out. That team actually catches routine shallow flyballs!!!

  20. Jim says:

    *cough* melky *cough*

  21. Salty Buggah says:

Oh noes, we’ll only have a 6.5 game lead IF we lose today!!!

  22. Eirias says:

Late to the party (wake?) but let me just add a big fuck you to FOX for blocking the game.

  23. Jim says:

we just got tomkoed by tazawa

  24. Dela G says:

so which inning do we score our first run?

    4th? 5th?

  25. Salty Buggah says:

    Tazawa getting better now.

  26. Dela G says:

posada doubling his walk count for the month i believe

  27. Keanu Reeves says:

I just don’t understand the rational of getting all worked up and angry over AJ blowing for the first two innings. Let’s remember that the Yankees are up 7.5 games for one. Two, sometimes, pitchers suck. I know he’s conveniently had two bad outings at Fenway this year, but we’re talking about a guy that has consistently kept the Yankees in games all year long. This is real baseball, not a video game. He won’t throw 8 shutout innings every time out. If they lose this game 7-0, it’s the same as losing 2-1 after AJ throws 7.2 innings of 3 hit 2 run baseball.

I direct this comment not at all, but at some.

    • Dela G says:

dude i def agree with you

    • Bob Stone says:

      I agree as well.

    • leokitty says:

Because people like being angry and a lot of people care very much about the rivalry so AJ having a bad bad day gives them an excuse to be very very angry.

The first time AJ had a bad day like this versus Boston I myself was very angry but the team was in such a different situation then. I also hadn’t fully acclimated to the bad AJ showing up sometimes stuff.

      • Keanu Reeves says:

I do understand that for sure. I care about this rivalry just as much as the next person. But I guess I’m just confident that from what I’ve seen this year, AJ will give the Yankees what they need when it matters the most. And what that may be today is hanging in there even though he doesn’t have his best control and giving them 6 or 7 innings so they don’t have to burn the pen.

    • Riddering says:

Keanu, I never thought I’d be so impressed by your powers of reason but…WHOA!

I too felt that some people round these parts were under the impression that A.J. woke up this morning and decided to suck and keep his team from winning.

    • Salty Buggah says:

      Wise men exist?

  28. Bob Stone says:

    Let’s start scoring NOW!

  29. DF says:

    Damn. Cano owns this dude.

  30. Dela G says:

    CANO!

    finally getting a good double

  31. danny says:

    cano lovesss fenway

  32. Riddering says:

    Hinske homer?

  33. Brazilian Yankee says:

We seriously can’t score a single run against Tazawa? This is embarrassing.

  34. Bugsy says:

jesus christ, fuck mccarver for not failing to insist on an asinine comment about his mechanics. yeah, it’s moderately interesting just like how i’m moderately interested in the color of my shit.

  35. Salty Buggah says:

see you negative posters, we’re hitting Tazawa well for the most part.

  36. charlespoet says:

Well those that are cliff jumpers, you are screwed now. 2 on 1 out…

  37. Bill R says:

    come on STINKSKE!

  38. Bill R says:

How is this kids Curve ball that confusing! He throws 88!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. Dela G says:

    damn you hinske

this is when i wish we had damon

  40. Bill R says:

    (expletive deleted) you Hinske!!!!!

  41. E-ROC says:

    C’mon Melkman.

  42. Bill R says:

WOOOOOW ANOTHER FUCKING RUNNER STRANDED AT THIRD!

  43. Jim says:

ROARRRRRR WE ARE GONNA COME BACK SCORE 10 RUNS AND WIN THIS FUCKER ROARRRRRRRR ROARRRR ROARRRRRRRRRR

  44. Mike Axisa says:

In other news, Eric Hinske is terrible in every aspect of the game. The worst thing he ever did was hit all those homers when he first showed up, because it tricked people into thinking he’s good. Me included.

    • Dela G says:

      +14

    • Bill R says:

He’s still better than Cody Ransom!

      • Accent Shallow says:

Yeah, but that’s not hard. There are hundreds of players in the minor leagues better than Cody Ransom.

Probably just about everyone in the majors, as well. Cody Ransom is dogshit garbage. He appears to be below replacement level on both offense and defense, which is tough to do — usually if you’re replacement level or below at one, you’re above at the other.

Thankfully, he’s not wasting a roster spot anymore.

    • JSquared says:

Yes, i always thought when a player was out, you would give up the offense for better defense. not downgrade in offense and defense…

  45. Bob Stone says:

This sucks. I hope the Yanks didn’t use up their whole weekend allotment of runs last night.

  46. djjd says:

    Melky is brainless

  47. Dela G says:

HOW THE HELL ARE THERE ZERO RUNS ON THE BOARD??

  48. JSquared says:

Hinske… see the ball, hit the ball, not swing and hope the ball hits the bat.

  49. charlespoet says:

over anxious Melk chasing that first pitch. tsk tsk.

  50. Riddering says:

    ….am I gonna hafta choke a bitch?

    BAD MELKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

  51. Brazilian Yankee says:

Somebody should remind our batters that they are not facing Nolan Ryan. It’s Junichi freaking Tazawa..

  52. charlespoet says:

For those that are watching the game, was HBP no Tex in the 1st inning worthy of retaliation?

  53. danny says:

nothing like a young chubby joba to make me smile during a (so far) crappy game

  54. Bill R says:

So AJ decided to show up after he gave up 7 runs!

  55. Dela G says:

man AJ could go 6 if he wanted to to lower that ERA

  56. Bob Stone says:

I’ve never seen a first baseman run plays out to first as much as Teixeira has this year.

  57. Pastafarian says:

Fuck what happened to the team hitting .600 with RISP, and boy does AJ Burnett know how to pitch at Fenway alright…. striking out everyone and only giving up 7 runs!!!!!!11!!!1!

  58. Riddering says:

Joe West is still going to screw us over for calls at home today.

  59. Dela G says:

Tex does nothing but gobble up balls

  60. Jim says:

are they allowed to let jesus montero chill in the dugout even if he’s not on the 40-man? just his presence will get us back in the game

  61. Bill R says:

Can someone name me a game that the Yankees played this season on FOX that we didn’t get CRUSHED!

  62. trueblue says:

what a fucking joke- no runs. no fucking runs. this guy is 6 feet of shit and we have no runs. fuck!@

  63. Jim says:

    isn’t dante like five?

  64. JSquared says:

Uh Oh… Pedroia didn’t get lucky, things are turning around.

  65. Riddering says:

Jeter’s really sticking it to his little buddy this series.

    I like it.

  66. Brazilian Yankee says:

It’s the 5th inning, are we allowed to score now?

  67. Bill R says:

I’d say come on Jeter lets get things started but every lead off batter is doing well its the rest of the losers after him!

  68. Dela G says:

ok, i predict we score 2 runs this inning

    Jeter singles, tex home run

  69. charlespoet says:

So tomorrow nights game is on ESPN, so fan poll here.

Which is worse for Yankee fans.

    A) Losing any game by any score to the Red Sox
    B) Having to listen to John Sterling/Suzyn Waldman
    C) Having to listen to Tim McCarver
    D) Having to listen to Joe Morgan
    E) Having to listen to McCarver and Morgan back to back.

  70. Salty Buggah says:

Take the 1st and 2nd innings out, AJ’s working on a perfect game.

  71. Keanu Reeves says:

    I vote E.

  72. danny says:

did the Midget really deserve to win it last year?

    • leokitty says:

he wasn’t a bad pick since there wasn’t a clear winner like pujols. it seems that most writers only look at playoff teams when that happens.

  73. Riddering says:

I wanted that one to go out.

  74. Bill R says:

    Tazawa = CY YOUNG WINNER!

  75. Dela G says:

    damn

every fucking ball hit to someone

    incredible

  76. Tank the Frank says:

Hey at least they paused the Red Sox drool fest for five minutes and gave Jeter some love.

  77. Dela G says:

    cmon swish

  78. Bill R says:

If we don’t score a run by the 7th we might as well stop watching. Paps isn’t giving up 8 runs no matter how much he sucks!

  79. Bob Stone says:

How are the Yanks letting Tazawa pitch such a good game? How is this possible?

  80. sam says:

who is this Cy young winner Tazawa?

  81. Dela G says:

probably in the top 10 in defense?

he’s rated as the second best, isnt he?

  82. Bob Stone says:

    Finally – Go Tex!

  83. Riddering says:

    Now A-Rod homers.

  84. Keanu Reeves says:

First thing I hear when I walk into the living room: my Dad yelling, “I can’t believe they aren’t hitting this Jap crap piece of shit pitching!”

    hahaha…

  85. Dela G says:

    there you go tex

  86. JMK says:

How does Rosenthal qualify as a journalist. In what parallel universe does he have any sense of integrity?

    • Zack says:

he lost all of it when he wrote that piece about AJ, ARod and Mo needing to get shut down half way through summer for major surgeries and all that other shit he wrote

      • JMK says:

He’s been bad for so long, we’re selling him short. But that was the tipping point, no doubt.

    • charlespoet says:

He works for Fox. Even the guy who changes light bulbs at night is called an Engineer.

  87. Bill R says:

Yesterday we caught every break getting balls down the line staying fair, balls missing gloves. Today complete opposite. Balls going foul, Balls finding gloves! Red Sox clobbering us!

    • JMK says:

It’ll happen. Worst case they take two games and we’re still ahead of them in the division by a considerable margin. Not the worst thing in the world.

    • Salty Buggah says:

Yesterday we caught every break getting balls down the line staying fair, balls missing gloves. Today complete opposite. Balls going foul, Balls finding gloves! Red Sox Luck clobbering us!

      Fixed

  88. Dela G says:

a-rod will look for that curveball now i bet

  89. Bob Stone says:

    Yeah ARod

  90. Bob Stone says:

C’mon Matsui – Hit one out against your conuntryman

  91. Dela G says:

    a-rod is on fire

  92. Bill R says:

    come on chop!!!!!

  93. Bugsy says:

matsui’s got the japanese connection. i bet he could command tazawa to thrown a fastball right down the middle just with his eyebrows.

  94. Accent Shallow says:

Speaking of Jesus Montero, think he’ll be going to AzFL? Romine is ticketed there.

  95. Riddering says:

Matsui always looks bad when he misses.

I would like another homer from him though.

  96. Jim says:

Tazawa’s breaking stuff WAS the best in the industrial league. Combine that with him being an amateur, and Theo Epstein KNEW he had something special coming his way.

  97. danny says:

well i didnt want to get swept, so im happy that we won yesterday, i think whats getting people so aggravated is that this game feels like the games from April. and those memories tend to bring out the worst in yankee fans, i can only imagine whats going on over at Lohud.

btw the game isnt over yet ;)

  98. Bob Stone says:

    That was a ball!!!!

  99. Salty Buggah says:

that strike 2 was inside…but oh well

  100. Jim says:

There is a greater chance of Hurricane Bill making a direct landfall in downtown NYC than the Yankees winning this game ;)

    • Dela G says:

      dont be so sure

its not like this team scored 20 yesterday

      • Jim says:

it’s not like we’ve left 8 men on base and have just been totally flat all day. it’s not like boston’s bullpen is pretty decent when you get passed scrubs like michael bowden.

  101. Salty Buggah says:

LOL Waldman said V-Mart has been using a “glove or mitt that’s been around the clubhouse”

need some laughs for this game

    • JMK says:

I don’t know how you can understand Waldman. She sounds like a Jewish American Princess, mixed with a pinch of downs syndrome.

  102. Dela G says:

good job wearing this kid down

  103. E-ROC says:

    Damn!

  104. YankeeScribe says:

Yanks can’t catch a break this game

    • Brazilian Yankee says:

They can’t hit mediocre pitches either.

    • Jim says:

i’m having a really hard time understanding how hitting weak popouts and flyouts and striking out is pure bad luck to some of the posters here.

not being able to catch a break and sucking with RISP are totally different things

      • Salty Buggah says:

“not being able to catch a break and sucking with RISP are totally different things”

        not really…

and we’ve had only 2 K’s and 2 groundouts with like 7 lineouts….don’t believe your selective memory

        • Jim says:

are you only following the game on Gameday?

          i don’t think there’s been 7 lineouts.

we haven’t been hitting the ball hard, high weak loopers right into the gloves of the outfielders (which could go either way as a flyout/lineout) are pretty routine plays. The tomko game u could make excuses for, we were hitting the ball crazy hard and a few missed a couple inches foul of being a double, etc.

  105. Brazilian Yankee says:

0 for 7 with RISP. Bad ol’ Yankees.

  106. Riddering says:

    Unbelievable.

I’m gonna punch someone in the face.

  107. Dela G says:

    this is lunacy

the yanks need to crush this kid

  108. Salty Buggah says:

I guess when it rains, it pours (most of the time at least because somtimes it just drizzles, which is what I hope was happening today)

  109. GG says:

    NYY: 6 hits 0 runs
    BOS: 6 hits 7 runs

  110. No Halladay says:

I hate it when a team scores a ton of runs, almost guarantees that the team scores only a couple runs the next time out.

  111. BigBlueAL says:

Forget bringing the tying run to the plate, how about just avoiding a shutout.

  112. No Halladay says:

Big deal, even if the Yanks lose today and tomorrow the lead is still 5.5

  113. Bugsy says:

really, dazzling? i fucking hate everyone.

  114. JobaJr says:

Only 4 more innings of pain.

  115. Dela G says:

    tazawa has not been dazzling

he is not that good, the yanks just can’t find a fucking gap

    • Brazilian Yankee says:

You’re not going to find gaps with popups.

      • Dela G says:

yeah but how many pop ups do we have? maybe 3 or 4 max? most of the outs have been hard hit balls to people

      • Jim says:

I love you. some of these posters cant possibly be watching the game. there’s been maybe one hard-hit ball. the tomko game was bad luck. but they aren’t hitting anything hard anywhere. everything is routine…

  116. No Halladay says:

39 games left in the season, 6 weeks. Still 3 games v Boston in NY.

15-4 this month, maybe 15-5, relax.

    • Salty Buggah says:

Oh nevah!!!! we sucky, AJ cant pitch in Bahston, which is the only reason we signed him!!! This team cant hit bad pitchers and are supah dupah unclutch! We needs to win every game! I gonna jump off this cliff we have “only” a 6.5 game lead

  117. Bugsy says:

where the fuck was all this like 3 innings ago?

  118. Dela G says:

    boy AJ is dealin

  119. Dela G says:

    throw fastballs by ortiz

    he can’t hit them

  120. Doug says:

    what the fuck

  121. E-ROC says:

The Green Monster is reviving careers.

  122. JSquared says:

nothing cheesy about this shot? nope, but a whole lot of steroids on it.

  123. Doug says:

“Why? Why? Why? Why? Why would you throw that? Why?”

    lol

  124. Salty Buggah says:

    Ortiz = Stat-padder!!!

  125. Dela G says:

    man that sucked

i think the yanks offense will realize that they are facing tazawa soon

  126. JSquared says:

After the pitch is thrown, run to an open space, cause with boston;s luck, it’ll be hit to an open space.

    • Brazilian Yankee says:

Dude, stop with this luck thing. They are hitting balls hard off AJ, we are not. Sometimes it’s just that simple.

  127. Jim says:

wait so who said we’d be winning this game?

  128. Jim says:

wait so who said we’d be winning this game?

  129. Brazilian Yankee says:

Do we have one starting pitcher capable of not shitting the bed in Fenway?

  130. JobaJr says:

Once in a while every team needs to get ass whopped. Its alright. We’ll be right back in this tomorrow.

  131. JMK says:

So this is what it felt like to be a Sox fan watching Penny and Bowden last night.

  132. No Halladay says:

Well, this one is over. My advice is to go do something else. A loss is a loss, tomorrow is another game. You can all post about how you’re going to kill your pets or yourselves and all that. People that actually watch baseball know that one game means nothing. A 6.5 game lead toward the end of August, best record in the AL, best record in all of MLB, is just fine.

By the way, you’re not playing for the team, only watching them. When the Yanks decide to make deposits into my account when they win, or take money when they lose, then I still won’t act like some of the children on this site.

  133. Brazilian Yankee says:

There’s another hard hit ball by the Yankees. Unluckily that popup didn’t find a hole.

  134. Riddering says:

    Cano…waits?

  135. Dela G says:

    cano is on fire

  136. Eirias says:

How on Earth does a team score 9 runs on 9 hits, 2 walks, 0 errors, and 0 HBP? That is admirably efficient. (Bastards).

  137. Moose Balls says:

The problem with AJ is that he only has 2 pitches. If one is off, the other team can just sit on the other one (i.e. exactly whats happening today since his fastball has zero command). Thats a very dangerous make-up for a pitcher. He needs to develop a 3rd pitch. You can only get the same team out on 2 pitches for so long.

    • Dela G says:

oddly enough, it worked 2 weeks ago against this exact same theam……

      • Brazilian Yankee says:

Yeah, but both pitches were working. And he was not pitching at Fenway, where he apparently doesn’t know how to pitch.

        • Salty Buggah says:

2 games tells you that? What about all the years before he dominated them there?

          :rolls eyes:

      • Salty Buggah says:

Cmon Dela, let’s not point out the facts. Our selective memories are more accurate.

    • No Halladay says:

Two pitches? Are you 11 or something?

    • Riddering says:

Well, he managed to do it his entire career as a Blue Jay.

And he’s faced division teams over and over again in Toronto and Florida while still holding up as an impressive pitcher. So.

  138. Bill R says:

Well I guess when you throw up a 20 spot at the opposing teams park they come out swinging the next game!

  139. bosox4liffeee says:

    Worried yet?

  140. Salty Buggah says:

I can’t wait to see what ESPN has to say about today. They are going to have a field day.

  141. JMK says:

That ball girl is pretty cute.

  142. danny says:

bard in a 9-0 game in the 6th?

    weird.

  143. Moose Balls says:

And for those of you who disagree that the main reason we got AJ was b/c of his record against Boston – your all wrong. Do you honestly think we’d give AJ an 85 million 5 year contract if he got pounded by Boston and sported a 14.00 ERA (i.e. exactly what he’s throwin up this year)…ofcourse not.

Cashman went hard after AJ because of his record against Boston and his propensity to pitch well in “big” games – 2 things which he has been shaky, at best, during this season. Anyone can dominate the shitty teams, I want to see you do it against Boston and Anaheim.

  144. djjd says:

How does everybody feel about Burnett’s performance this year? He’ll be 10-7 with an ERA over 4 after this game.

  145. danny says:

lol when its not your day, it REALLY isnt your day.

  146. Brazilian Yankee says:

There’s another hard hit ball that didn’t find a hole. Poor Melky, not his fault he hit a bad pitch and grounded into a DP.

  147. Chofo says:

At leasts one runner in every inning and they canĀ“t score?
