AJ is an absolute fuckin’ joke when pitching against the SOX in Boston. But for ONE good outing this year, he’s given up 20 fuckin runs in 10 innings in Boston. Thats totally unaccpetable. The only reason we signed him was to beat Boston. His body language is awful in Boston and it looks like he doesnt even care out there.
The only thing going for us is that we’ll have homefield advantage if we play Boston in the ALCS, so AJ can pitch in Yankee stadium rather than Boston. But for that one solace, I have zero faith in him pitching in Boston.

The only time his facial expression doesn’t scream “apathy” is when he’s giving the cream to his teammates on walk-offs. We didn’t sign him just to beat Boston. We signed him to be a front-of-the-rotation starter, throwing an ERA in the mid-3′s. Yeah, we expect him to play well in Boston because it’s indicative of a high-pressure capability, but that’s not why we sign guys.
It’s only been a few starts, and it hasn’t been encouraging thus far, but it’s a small sample size. We both agree that he has to pitch better though.

I just don’t understand the rational of getting all worked up and angry over AJ blowing for the first two innings. Let’s remember that the Yankees are up 7.5 games for one. Two, sometimes, pitchers suck. I know he’s conveniently had two bad outings at Fenway this year, but we’re talking about a guy that has consistently kept the Yankees in games all year long. This is real baseball, not a video game. He won’t throw 8 shutout innings every time out. If they lose this game 7-0, it’s the same as losing 2-1 after AJ throws 7.2 innings of 3 hit 2 run baseball.

Because people like being angry and a lot of people care very much about the rivalry so AJ having a bad bad day gives them an excuse to be very very angry.
The first time AJ had a bad day like this versus Boston I myself was very angry but the team was in such a different situation then. I also hadn’t fully acclimated to the bad AJ showing up sometimes stuff.
I do understand that for sure. I care about this rivalry just as much as the next person. But I guess I’m just confident that from what I’ve seen this year, AJ will give the Yankees what they need when it matters the most. And what that may be today is hanging in there even though he doesn’t have his best control and giving them 6 or 7 innings so they don’t have to burn the pen.

In other news, Eric Hinske is terrible in every aspect of the game. The worst thing he ever did was hit all those homers when he first showed up, because it tricked people into thinking he’s good. Me included.

we haven’t been hitting the ball hard, high weak loopers right into the gloves of the outfielders (which could go either way as a flyout/lineout) are pretty routine plays. The tomko game u could make excuses for, we were hitting the ball crazy hard and a few missed a couple inches foul of being a double, etc.

So this is what it felt like to be a Sox fan watching Penny and Bowden last night.
Well, this one is over. My advice is to go do something else. A loss is a loss, tomorrow is another game. You can all post about how you’re going to kill your pets or yourselves and all that. People that actually watch baseball know that one game means nothing. A 6.5 game lead toward the end of August, best record in the AL, best record in all of MLB, is just fine.
By the way, you’re not playing for the team, only watching them. When the Yanks decide to make deposits into my account when they win, or take money when they lose, then I still won’t act like some of the children on this site.

How on Earth does a team score 9 runs on 9 hits, 2 walks, 0 errors, and 0 HBP? That is admirably efficient. (Bastards).
The problem with AJ is that he only has 2 pitches. If one is off, the other team can just sit on the other one (i.e. exactly whats happening today since his fastball has zero command). Thats a very dangerous make-up for a pitcher. He needs to develop a 3rd pitch. You can only get the same team out on 2 pitches for so long.
