Well I actually did just install that Spybot Search and Destroy program but for some reason it won’t work on the computer.
probably because you already have malware on your machine that can recognize and disable whatever you’re putting on there to clean it.
Nuke it and start over. Reinstall windows. Or, sell it and then get a mac.

If you want an inferior machine then go right ahead. No viruses are on there because of the sheer difference in numbers of PC’s and Macs.
Your second sentence is true, but does not speak to any superiority or inferiority at all.
Macs are like iPhones. The hardware is not what sets them apart, it’s the software. It works like it’s supposed to.
Reboot and pray. After that run a good anti-virus, antispyware program like Norton Antivirus or McAfee.
Those aren’t that great. If you want a good AV get Kaspersky, worth every penny. For free try avira or avast, heard good things but never used them
I’ve got more pornography than Matsui on this Mac (Nine Trannies One Cup??) and my computer has never done me wrong. Seriously, I know it’s not a real computer (some people say), but it’s never buggy or prone to viruses like a PC.

By “real computer”, do these people mean “runs the latest version of office”? or “plays Half Life”?
I am a software engineer and I have a PhD in computer science. I see more macs than windows machines among my academic peers and also among the people I work with who write software for a living. And I’ve been using macs sine I was nine.
So, take from that what you will.
I have no idea what their gripes with Macs are. I grew up with PCs and there was always something wrong with them. I heard that Internet Explorer technically qualifies as a virus. I don’t know if it’s true, but I wouldn’t doubt it. I use the computer for graphic design, writing, music, video editing and porn. It’s great. No problems at all.

Because they’re more prevalent in corporate settings, and instead of being easy to use and attractive, they have generally been hard to use and have appeared utilitarian — which makes people assume they’re more powerful. The “pro” version of something ALWAYS has a learning curve, right? A Serious Piece Of Equipment can’t be nice to look at…it should be beige or grey, and look boxy! They also let IT dudes act all macho and condescending because regular people have no shot at keeping themselves safe using a Windows machine.
Well, I’ve worked on both my whole adult life and there are downfalls to both. It’s stupid to claim either is better.
Also I might add the program that keeps popping up as the virus proctection is called Total Security.

Question for all the Mac users … I have a PC now, have my entire life, but my next laptop will be a Mac. Am I shit out of luck with all my files – Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, etc – or is there a way they can be transferred?

Have had a Mac all my life, I’m pretty sure they can all be transfered, I’m not sure how but it should be easy to find on google.
You could also use programs like VMware Fusion, which allows you to run a windows simulator for files that do not work well on Macs.

You’ll be fine, but you will need to buy Office for Mac. Transferring the files can be as simple as just using a usb thumb drive.

B) If you want, you can partition your Mac to be a half-Mac half-Windows machine and keep running your old shit. If you want (you probably won’t).
PROTIP: Buy the baseline model, then go to Newegg.com and buy replacement RAM and/or a hard drive for cheap. Like under $100 cheap. Since Macs are now Intel, parts are interchangeable with PCs.
I upgraded my ’06 Macbook from 512 MB to 2 gigs and it looks like I can keep running it for another two years.

Congratulations Mike. Almost all files work on a mac. .exe files do not.
And you don’t overpay for a mac. The extra money you spend now, you will save later, when you would have to fix your PC or buy a new one in 2 or 3 years and the rarity of viruses is a plus.
And buy a refurb. It will save you a ton. And like someone said above, buy the base model and upgrade. I like newegg, but you can also get ram directly from curial.com (that’s my pick), or ramjet.com. Just make sure you get the right stuff. If you need any help, e-mail me. My preliminary answers to your arguments are:
1)-No, Writers hate Jeter too much to ever give it to him. Plus, Texiera probably cancels him out. Oh, and that Mauer guy.
2)- Perhaps, I won’t be surprised in a few years when the whole country is honestly considring it. To be fair, I think most of us here in the Universe recognize him as a top five shortstop already.

This is all I ever wanted from this team this month. That we could beat the Saux in these two pivotal August series and they have probably decided the division as well.
Still, most importantly the boys in navy blue pinstripes have proven they have transformed into a far better team- a true contender in October!
Also, I know no one will ever believe me, but I always thought we were gong 6-1 in this month againt the Saux. I just figured once we broke down that 0-8 barrier, we were going to show how great we truely have been since A-rod’s return in early May in Baltimore. Of course, I did predict we would sweep them here and win 3 of 4 at the Stadium. Guess I was looking in the magic crystal ball from the wrong angle.
Finally, I also did predict we would each of these final three series and I think we will take 2 of 3 in Septemeber to finish up with my overall prediction of 8-2 in the final 10.
And now I predict it’s time for me to calm up
