Montero out for remainder of season with fractured finger

By Mike Axisa

PeteAbe has the news. Montero broke the middle finger on his right (throwing) hand after catching a pitch in last night’s game. He’ll be out 4-6 weeks according to the team, meaning he’s out for the rest of the minor league but could return in time for a stint in winter ball. Montero finished the season at .337-.389-.562 with 17 homers.

Can he still DH for the Yanks in September? lol

I’m planning on going to a Trenton game next Saturday and I have the means by which to get Montero a get-well soon card.

I am seriously considering it as a possibility.

Don’t bother. He’ll just use it to wipe his ass.

pat says:

You’re pathetic.

God says:

V says:

My, my, I have a fan.

Btw, everyone, this is the same asshole that was making light of Thurman Munson’s death a couple of threads back.

What an absolute bummer. Still, at least he was awesome this year when healthy, and this shouldn’t set back his long-term development.

Salty Buggah says:

Here’s hoping he gets fully healthy and comes back mashing next year and in winter ball.

Sorry to hear about this. As a Braves fan, it was always interesting to compare Jason Heyward and Jesus Montero’s stats. Montero was obviously the better power hitter. Good luck to the Yankees organization in the future.

RIP Montero

Salty Buggah says:

WTH? he broke a finger

Accent Shallow says:

I think I might rather have Heyward.

Montero isn’t exactly a consolation prize, though.

pat says:

Haha, luckily it’s a rather minor injury but thanks for the condolences.

Mike bk says:

RIP? he aint dead, he broke a digit. get well soon much more appropriate.

Dela G says:

Does anyone think he’ll still make a good run at AAA when he comes back. Lets hope his mechanics stay the same

Drew says:

Talk about a nice line. 337/389/562

Broken finger is good news at this point.

DreDog says:

I agree. He might make winter ball exciting too.

Adam says:

atleast its not the wrist

crawdaddie says:

I always thought the Yankees will play him in the AFL and now with this injury I think it guarantees it if he’s healthy by then.

J Squared says:

Montero is our favorite, his bat was just getting really hot for the 2nd time in Double-A, Get Well you hitting machine.

Mike in Florida says:

I am not a machine…Get well Jesus. NY can’t wait for you to arrive the middle of next year.

Chaz says:

i knew we should have traded him!!!!! !!

Reggie C. says:

There goes any chance for Montero to win BA’s Minor League POY …

Guess its gonna be Heyward by default.
