Trenton’s regular season is over. They finished third in Eastern League Northern Division with a 69-72 record. As you know, yesterday’s loss eliminated them from postseason play. Mike Ashmore has word of the corresponding roster moves, as several players were shuffled around to help out the other affiliates in the postseason.
High-A Tampa‘s regular season is over. They finished with a 77-56 overall record, second in the Florida State League North Division. Their first round matchup against Brevard County starts tomorrow, today was just an off day. I don’t know this for sure, but it looks like David Phelps and DJ Mitchell line up to get the ball in games one and two of the best-of-three series.
Low-A Charleston (7-6 win over Savannah, walk-off style)
Jose Pirela: 3 for 5, 3 RBI, 1 CS

Charleston’s regular season is over. They finished with a 74-65 overall record, second in the South Atlantic League Southern Division. They did not qualify for the postseason.
Short Season Staten Island‘s regular season is over. They finished 47-29, and won the NY-Penn League McNamara Division. Their first round matchup against Lowell starts tomorrow, today was just a day off. Robert Pimpsner’s playoff preview says Adam Warren will get the ball in game one of the best-of-three series, and will be followed by Sean Black and Caleb Cotham. There’s a chance they may face a rehabbing Dice-K at some point during the season.
The Rookie GCL Yanks season is over after they lost to the GCL Marlins in Round One of the playoffs. The GCL Nats won the league championship.

Since Eric Duncan is a Minor League FA this year (I think) will the Yankees let him walk?
Yep. It’s off to the indy leagues for him.
Poor guy…
Z-Mac will move up prospects lists if he has a run of impressive playoff starts for Scranton. Go Scranton!
Seems like as good a place as any to mention this…
On the subject of old friends – went to the Nats game on Sunday (hoo-ray for walk-off homers, etc), but Tyler Clippard entered the game and was pretty much a shut-down guy in the 8th for the home side.
Checking his numbers, he’s been a beast this year for Washington – 163 ERA+, 1.073 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 and a 2.3 K/BB in 41 innings.
Also, most impressive – he comes out to “Peaches” by the Presidents of the United States of America.
That is all, except to say that Costas and Kaat are so much better than Kay and Flash its absurd.
Clippard’s still only 24 years old, too. Has allowed 23 hits in 41 IP. Not bad at all.
Ehhh, in other news Brad Penny is dominating the NL. Along with Smoltz/Pineiro/Contreras, etc.
True dat… if i’m a NL GM I’d just try to keep finding those middling AL playes and take them for a song, seem to be the biggest market inefficency these days.
I hope Z-Mac CRUSHES the IL playoffs. Good luck, SWB.
Hopefully a great series for A-Jax and Zach. I can’t believe DOTF is almost over.
It’s like losing your kid to Children’s Services…only to get them back next year.
so in the minor league’s playoffs you can have more than a 25 man roster?
No, they’ll have to shuffle some players around.
Melky Mesa… boo!
It’s all in the name, and I’m not talking about Mesa.
welll , Jose Mesa was quiet a K machine in his day too!
168 Ks….yikes
Does Shelly Duncan go back to Scranton for their playoffs? Then he comes back to the Bronx.
No. I think Duncan is here to stay on the MLB team through September.
I really wish Montero wasnt injured, he’d could have helped Scranton in the playoffs.
And to prove he’s a way better hitter than Jason Heyward.
I’d like to see Guzman get a few games in CF in the Bronx. It seems he could be a better base stealer than Gardner and I’d like to see how his D compares.
Good to see Brackman finish the season on a positive note. Now let him go to the Fall Instructional League and continue to work on his mechanics. Expect much bigger things from him next season. Only question is does he go to Tampa, or start back in Charleston?
