I was at that game, sitting upper deck, left field side. I remember watching him mow those guys down and not having any clue what he was actually throwing. The changeup looked like a splitter, or a cutter, or a slider (we were far away), depending. We couldn’t help but notice the physical resemblance to Mariano…and the 3 K’s didn’t hurt. Oh, how young and foolish was I!
Good thing we had the mighty Pena in today or we’d find ourselves on the wrong side of a no no.

Roy Halladay is arguably the best pitcher in the game. Has been for a long time.
He’s got a sub 3 era in the AL East. If he was in the NL West there’s no telling what he’d do.

Believing it’s Lincecum is totally fine. It’s just that your earlier logic strongly suggests that you only take into account what a guy has done in the last couple of weeks, which is a little…different.

NL stats do not translate to the AL, especially the East. If we’ve learned one thing this year, it’s that.
The NL west isn’t horrible this year. If Halladay pitched in the NL west all of this year, Lincecum would still be better.

Actually for those who don’t know my name comes from a conversation Nick Swisher had with Kim Jones on a day where he made one bad play and one great play. When Jones asked Swisher to describe his day in right, he said that if he were an “ice cream, he’d be a rocky road” (my vote for number one quote of the year). So Jones said that Swisher must have gotten some Rocy Road Redemption when he made the nice play. I loved the quote and it was memorable, so there’s my name.
At least Toronto faces Boston again one more time this season. Let’s hope that today’s Halladay shows up that day as well.

This loss is no big deal, so they got one hit big deal (It was NOT a no no). But Boston will lose tonight (And maybe Anaheim as well), so they are not losing ground. Another factor is this: When you throw Gaudin and Joba vs Romero and Halliday, you are very happy splitting the first two games (Particularly when a split of the next two gives the Yankees a 5-2 road trip, not bad at all).
