  1. EvoLuTioN says:

Yankees need to get into their bullpen asap, garza is at 98 pitches

  2. Dela G says:

    cmon offense!

  3. The Evil Empire says:

I’d like CC in the 8th, even though it’s not happening.

  4. BigBlueAL says:

Im beginning to think Sabathia is underpaid…

  5. EvoLuTioN says:

Why not pinch hit for hinske? he clearly looks terrible against garza

  6. Dela G says:

this strike zone for garza is just KILLING me!

  7. cjc says:

    contact mini victory

  8. Dela G says:

wow i am shocked he didn’t get that call

  9. BigBlueAL says:

Another reason for having the best overall record is you get to choose the format for the ALDS in terms of playing the series with the extra off-day or not.

    • Johan Iz My Brohan says:

what would the yankees most likely do?

      • BigBlueAL says:

I would hope go with the extra off-day so they would only need 3 starters and CC can pitch Games 1 and 4 on normal rest and whoever they choose to pitch Game 2 could pitch Game 5 on normal rest as well. Of course the problem is the Tigers (assuming they are the opponent) can do the same with Verlander and Edwin Jackson for Games 1-2 and 4-5.

  10. JMK says:

    She’s kinda cute, too.

  11. Sam says:

I hope the Yanks score this inning, CC deserves the W.

  12. EvoLuTioN says:

its the 7th inning, youd think we’d have learned to stop looking at the same fastball over and over. SWING

  13. Tom Zig says:

    Pasta diving Aybar

  14. BigBlueAL says:

    Melky has been hitting lately.

  15. Dela G says:

    hooray melkman!

  16. Dela G says:

    cmon grit, you got this

  17. JMK says:

Melky is hitting .393 since the 31st of August.

  18. EvoLuTioN says:

the outside strike has been brutal this game

  19. EvoLuTioN says:

    GREAT baserunning by the MELKMAN

  20. BigBlueAL says:

Melky is inspired now that Gardner is back.

  21. Dela G says:

THE MELKMAN with the heads up baserunning!

too bad the count isnt 2-1, cuz i’d bunt here

  22. e mills says:

damn, ARod’s BA is higher than Tex’s

  23. Cy Farnsworth says:

great baserunning by the melkman, no hesitation at all

  24. EvoLuTioN says:

what the hell was that brett

  25. cjc says:

    swing the bat fuck

  26. Moshe Mandel says:

    Ahh, gotta swing at that.

  27. Jeremy says:

Jeter, these fans paid good money to see you get a hit. Please oblige them.

  28. BigBlueAL says:

Ive never seen so many K’s on called strike 3′s on fastball.

  29. EvoLuTioN says:

how many strike outs looking has garza had today?

  30. Jake H says:

That is some rust right there.

  31. Brazilian Yankee says:

It’s so easy to challenge hitters when the outside corner is actually the batter’s box.

  32. Tom Zig says:

    damn it Jeter stop slumping

  33. BigBlueAL says:

    2-0 count and that, fuck.

  34. Dela G says:

    damn

    cc needed that :(

  35. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Frustrating offense today.

  36. Brazilian Yankee says:

    What a frustrating game.

  37. EvoLuTioN says:

CC deserved a win today, we let him down. We havent been giving him much run support

  38. BigBlueAL says:

CC winning 20 looking tough now. 2 out of last 3 starts offense has screwed him.

  39. Nels says:

Isn’t the Yanks record something like 14-0 when tied after seven? It would be awesome to stay undefeated for the rest of the season (and postseason) in such situations.

  40. EvoLuTioN says:

wasting the DH slot on hinske is pretty dumb. You’re tell me damon couldnt DH?

  41. mustang says:

anyone think Jeter might be pressing a little Because of the most hit thing?

  42. JobaWockeeZ says:

What is this ump looking at?

  43. BigBlueAL says:

Uh oh not a good start.

  44. Nels says:

    Fuck yeah!

  45. JMK says:

Hooray! Although, I think he may have been safe.

  46. Jeremy says:

    Carl Crawford … ERASED

  47. Dela G says:

    HOLY COW THEY GOT CC!!

  48. EvoLuTioN says:

    so lucky

great job, sweet tag by cano

  49. Mike Axisa says:

    Hip hip … GUNNED DOWN!!!

  50. Moshe Mandel says:

    Right call, great tag.

  51. Dela G says:

great call, they got him before he hit the tag!

  52. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

Posada threw out Crawford? Time to write my will and find a nice looking headstone…

  53. Cy Farnsworth says:

Robbie Cano learned how to sell that swipe tag from Jeter

    Great defense

  54. Riddering says:

    OH HELL YES.

JoPo says, “You running on me? You running on me?!”

  55. JMK says:

Is that an Arby’s logo tattooed on Crawford’s neck?

  56. Tom Zig says:

Cano, where were your quick hands yesterday?

  57. EvoLuTioN says:

why isnt hughes going up the ladder today?

  58. Dela G says:

    HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHES!!!

  59. Accent Shallow says:

    Nicely done.

  60. Brian Cashman is Watching says:

ESPN has found a great way to increase Phil’s innings: by saying he pitched 2 innings before the second out!

    • Bob Stone says:

I saw that too. they left out a decimal point. Either that or they are now predicting how many innings a pitcher will go.

  61. Dela G says:

lol at kay snorting on tv…

  62. EvoLuTioN says:

from a despicable swing on that curve to working a walk

    attaboy swish

  63. Tom Zig says:

I wonder if Joe Maddon is going to do a Tony LaRussa imitation?

  64. Dela G says:

tex, all he is going to do is give you breaking balls

    lay off the yucky ones

  65. EvoLuTioN says:

    HEADS UP BASERUNNING

    hell yeah

    time for some clutchrod

  66. Mike Axisa says:

    Business. They’re in it.

  67. Dela G says:

    hooray!!

    great job tex and swish!

  68. BigBlueAL says:

Shit now they will probably walk Arod.

  69. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Tex!!

  70. Mike Axisa says:

I would imagine they’re going to walk Alex. They have too.

  71. JMK says:

Mark Texiera: That’s what I’m talking about, mother fucker!
Melky Cabrera: What did you say about Mary Carey?

  72. EvoLuTioN says:

    pinch run from 3rd base
    lol

  73. JMK says:

Robbie with bases loaded and no outs? Is this good?

  74. Dela G says:

wouldn’t it be funny if A-rod pulled a miguel cabrera and swing at an intentional ball for a single?

  75. danny says:

    boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  76. EvoLuTioN says:

lets go robbie, you got this

  77. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

    Cano will be clutch here

  78. King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

    Does your Gameday say this:

In play, no out(s), take that bitches!

    Wt…?

  79. Brazilian Yankee says:

Cano HAS to come through here..

  80. Pete says:

How about a nice wild pitch, Lance?

  81. EvoLuTioN says:

    sac fly is good enough

  82. Tampa Yankee says:

    That works

  83. JMK says:

    That will work!

  84. Accent Shallow says:

Playing the game the right way.

  85. Dela G says:

    attaboy cano!

    thanks for the sac!

    2-1!

  86. JMK says:

    He should have bunted!

  87. Pete says:

    2-1.

Now, do you stick with Hughes and give Mo an extra day?

  88. Karl W says:

    Doncha know Robbie Cano!

  89. Riddering says:

That’s all we’re going to need.

    But I’ll take more…

  90. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Atta boy Robbie!

  91. danny says:

better than nothing, good job cano

  92. JMK says:

I don’t understand the marketing behind “That’s G”. Was Gatorade too many syllables or unfamiliar to most people? The “G” means Gatorade, right?

    WHAT AM I MISSING?!

  93. EvoLuTioN says:

can we get matsui after posada? matsui feasts on submariners

  94. EvoLuTioN says:

    hell yeahhhhhhhhhhhh

  95. Tampa Yankee says:

    HIP HIP

  96. Dela G says:

    POSADA DELIVERS!

    3-1!

  97. EvoLuTioN says:

    that was a loud single.

  98. JMK says:

Right down the middle. Excellent swing.

  99. Accent Shallow says:

Posada is a pretty good hitter.

  100. Drew says:

Look at this, as soon as I get home we break the tie.

  101. mustang says:

The old crew strikes again !!!!

  102. JMK says:

    No DP, no DP…Pleeeease…

  103. EvoLuTioN says:

    more great situational hitting

    • Zack says:

but they cant score without a 3-R HR!

    • whozat says:

here’s what I don’t get…it seems like you’re happier about the sac fly than you would have been about a homer. Why? All a homer means is that you did a great job squaring up the ball and putting a good swing on it.

      • EvoLuTioN says:

a homer would be fine but i much rather get a bunch of hits strung together, or in this case some nice sac flys.

what pisses me off the most is going 0fer in RISP and having a couple of solo homers

        • whozat says:

“a homer would be fine but i much rather get a bunch of hits strung together, or in this case some nice sac flys.”

This makes no sense. A homer is the best possible outcome of an at-bat.

“what pisses me off the most is going 0fer in RISP and having a couple of solo homers”

Fine. but those are not the only alternatives.

  104. Jeremy says:

    Solid. Just solid.

  105. Dela G says:

    4-1!

    great job A-rod!

    killin em!

  106. Zack says:

    our 1B/DH has some wheels

  107. Tampa Yankee says:

    I thought the Yanks couldn’t score w/o the HR…

  108. Riddering says:

    Bullpen killers strike again.

  109. EvoLuTioN says:

too bad this should have been CCs 17th win :(
    oh well, ill take it

  110. Bob Stone says:

The Yankees are so tough in late innings. Such a pleasure to watch.

  111. Drew says:

    Come on Melkdog

  112. JMK says:

You guys still want Mo pitching?

    • Bob Stone says:

YES – It was mentioned earlier that he’s already warmed up, so he might as well pitch. And, it’s still a save situation.

  113. scooter says:

This is odd – why wouldn’t you bring in the lefty to face Hinske?

Great job with the sac fly – tacking on another run. Situational hitting at its best

And Maddon must have old stats – Melky’s been much better this year vs lefty pitchers

  114. Dela G says:

    great inning

  115. BigBlueAL says:

I read earlier that Girardi said neither Hughes or Mo will pitch in both games of the DH. Wouldnt it make sense then to not bring in Mo here and let Hughes finish this and have Mo available for 2nd game????

  116. JMK says:

Gipped by the ump on that third pitch.

  117. JMK says:

    What is this crap?

  118. Tom Zig says:

    bullshit umpire.

  119. whozat says:

fucking absurd. Matt Garza was getting WAY more calls than that.

  120. Dela G says:

    wow

    no calls for mo

  121. Riddering says:

    Ridiculous.

    Garza got those calls.

  122. Jeremy says:

The people at this game will not get to say they saw Jeter pass Gehrig, but they will get to say they saw Rivera walk a guy.

  123. JobaWockeeZ says:

Damn those 2009 shitty umpires not watching the game.

  124. Salty Buggah says:

OK, I havent much of this game but the little I saw, Garza was getting those calls all day…so why isnt Mo?

  125. Dela G says:

    damn

    overpowered longo

  126. Cy Farnsworth says:

going into the game you would’ve thought that mo would get more borderline calls than matt freakign garza, no?

make no mistake though, mo’s still got it

  127. Accent Shallow says:

Longoria: still has a punchable face.

  128. Tom Zig says:

    5-1 ChiSox!

  129. Dela G says:

quentin just homered for the white sox

    5-1

  130. Jeremy says:

    Bottom line:

Mo doesn’t need the umpire’s help.

  131. JobaWockeeZ says:

Suck it ump, you tried but the Yankees beat you.

  132. Accent Shallow says:

    Yay Mo! Yay win!

  133. Dela G says:

    BALLGAME!

  134. Salty Buggah says:

    Mo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Umpires, opposing batters, and baseball

    THUUUUUH Yankees win!

  135. Riddering says:

I love seeing a swing-and-miss from Mo right after “Manny gets tossed” pops up on MLBtv.

  136. JMK says:

I think Mo has recovered from injury.

  137. Mike Axisa says:

    Magic Number = 18

Three ChiSox outs from being 17.

  138. Tampa Yankee says:

    Nice win!

  139. Jeremy says:

Mo is an example to people with sore groins throughout the world.

  140. Tom Zig says:

    I love Hawk Harrelson.

  141. Salty Buggah says:

Hmmm, looks like that 1st baseman playing 3rd had a pretty decent game, huh?

  142. danny says:

    YANKEES WINNNN!

  143. scooter says:

    I THINK Mo’s OK

  144. Salty Buggah says:

Heh, I love the JD answering to the roll call magic number picture.

  145. Dela G says:

    BALLGAME OVER!

    RED SOX LOSE!!

    8.5 game lead

  146. EvoLuTioN says:

rumor has it pena has 2 fractured bones in his hand

  147. chriskeo says:

Hey mike, can you post the link for #18, i blinked and missed it, it seemed like both games ended at the same time

  148. Randy A. says:

I was hoping for John Flaherty…but I guess I can accept Winfield

  149. Riddering says:

You guys put quality, swift work in here at RAB.

Love both the #18 and 17 pictures.

  150. EvoLuTioN says:

    Well, its true.

    from the rays blog:
UPDATE, 4:38: Pena has fractured the middle and index finger of his left hand and is done for the year.

  151. Evan says:

I’m glad they put in my guy for the Magic Number. :)

  152. Bob Stone says:

I wanted to see Bob Cerv for #17.

  153. Salty Buggah says:

They don’t think it be like it is, but it do
