Dela G says:

attaboy edwar

onto the mike dunn sighting!

Drew says:

That’s pretty sick that Z-Mac is getting the call to AAA.

Mike Pop says:

I won’t smoke, I won’t smoke! Just stop it with these commercials.

alex gonzalez says:
Mike Pop says:

I like what comes later when he’s doing it to Peter in the office.

JMK says:

His accent is great, though. It sounds Lithuanian.

/Window seat, please.

MikeD says:

Those commercials should be declared “acts of terrorism.”

VO says:

If it’s Edwar proof it’s Dunn proof.

Tom Zig says:

Is it Andrew Brackman proof?

Mike Pop says:

Only if Molina is catching.

JMK says:

I’d love to see Brackman. Just for shits and giggles, ya know?

His last few outings have been really good; hopefully he continues like that next year.

Tom Zig says:

He is on the 40-Man. You know just bring him up so everyone can see what he looks like

JMK says:

He’s the only guy they measure in metric units. He’s a frickin’ giraffe!

Mike bk says:

the way brackman went out of the pen sure is.

zs190 says:

Hey now, Brackman has had pretty good command for a few games now. Now Sam Elam…that’s another story.

Drew says:

Pinch run for matsui? No?

Dela G says:

The hits keep on coming

[/kay’d

alex gonzalez says:

they should let all those kids that didn’t pitch well come out. they got nothing to lose besides maybe more of there dignity.

Mike Pop says:

Cano is taking a siesta.

He’s so lazy that he’s letting someone else bat for him.

Dela G says:

SHELLY DUNCAN SIGHTING!!

Tom Zig says:

Throw Shelley a fastball!

JMK says:

Shelley would be great in fastball-only games.

alex gonzalez says:

those all were fastballs, he didn’t do anything.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

Riddering says:

I love the buzz in the crowd with Shelley’s appearance.

Drew says:

Shelley would hit 5th in the Mets lineup.

Tom Zig says:

He has more plate discipline than Frenchy

MikeD says:

The Yankees have three minor leagues who would have played first base for the Mets once Delgado went down. Duncan, Miranda and Jorge Vazquez, who was having a great year before he was injured.

Mike Pop says:

Trade them all for Beltran.

bonestock94 says:

Mike Pop says:

Johnny Alb now?

Let’s see him serve k them out.

JMK says:

I went to the Jersey Shore last weekend. Holy lord, the whole ocean is polluted with that Axe Body Spray shit. And the air–it’s stifling!

Who actually likes that stuff?

Mike Pop says:

Jose at first, that’s pretty funny.

Drew says:

He was there last night too I think.

VO says:

Lol, Girardi’s got jokes.

JMK says:

The eyedes of September are upon us?

Oh I see what you did there.

Drew says:

Only Kay could bring “manifestation” into a conversation about getting hit with a ball while playing catch.

Mike bk says:

wow what a defense…hinskie at 3rd, shelley in right and molina at 1st.

Zack says:
JMK says:

That’s it? I figured it’d be worse.

Zack says:

i just went -33 each to be nice. but just for kicks id love to see Molina at 1B for 150 games

JMK says:

Cody Ransom=Dividing by zero.

Tom Zig says:

Who would have a better UZR in the outfield? Jose Molina or Bobby Abreu?

Speaking of UZR, I’ve been watching the US Open a decent amount lately and I cannot help but think that some of those tennis players would make dynamite SS/2B.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

Andy Roddick has a wicked serve too, I wonder how that translates to throwing a baseball.

Evan says:

Yup. I can definitely see Fed making the sweet DP turn like Cano.

Mike Pop says:

It doesn’t matter because UZR is the suck.

Tom Zig says:

Its a CrAzY sTaT! My EyEs!!

Riddering says:

Defensively, this is our Z lineup, yes?

Tom Zig says:
Riddering says:

Hey! Tonight, Molina’s batting OVER NINE THOUSAND.

Tom Zig says:

Jose Molina is now 90 for his last 10

Riddering says:

His OBP is through the roof.

Tonight.

bonestock94 says:

This updated line-up has given today’s game new life.

Dela G says:
alex gonzalez says:

are we watching different games?

Dela G says:

this was said right before the two runners reached base….

alex gonzalez says:

I didnt realize the time frame. my bad, although if he allowed a three run jack you would have probably called it a “damn good job” by alby and then blamed it on the defense.

JMK says:

You should consider ignoring the guy.

Drew says:

+1, it’s much, much easier.

alex gonzalez says:

Mike Pop says:

Chances noMaas puts up anything on AJ having a good start?

They’ll give credit to Molina.

GG says:

Wow, so what were left with is:
Pena 2B
Damon LF
Gardner CF
Matsui DH
Hinske 3B
Duncan RF
Cervelli C
Hairston SS
Molina 1B

Take Damon out

Tom Zig says:

We don’t have anyone to put in?

alex gonzalez says:

put that lazy bum arod in, make him catch so I can have a few laughs.

I don’t know what the deal with this “9″ movie is, but the promo uses a Coheed and Cambria song. That kinda makes me want to go see it. Kind of.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

I love playing that song on guitar.

Yeah, I wasn’t a huge fan of that album, though. The previous two were much better.

handtius says:

You should hear they’re old stuff, when they were Shabutie.

Yeah? How hard is that to get? Speaking of ‘way back’ and bands, I think I once heard a song from when Jesse Lacey of Brand New “fame” was in Taking Back Sunday. Weird, wild stuff.

handtius says:

I don’t know. I have some though. I grew up with some of them (Claudio and Travis). To tell you the truth, it’s not that good. There’s a few golden eggs in there, precursors to C&C, but it’s worth a listen. search for them on myspace. it may still be up. “Camouflage” is a good one. As for Taking Back Sunday, I’m pass all together. Not my cup of jo.A little old for that.

handtius says:

Tom Zig says:

Hey look at that A-rod is on the top step too

So much for him not being a team player and all about himself.

Steve H says:

He’s just scoping the crowd for chicks.

Mike Pop says:

No, he’s pitch tipping.

JMK says:

If you read the Roberts book, you’d know that’s the only time he ever tips. Hooters waitresses are not happy.

steve (different one) says:

it’s not his fault. he misheard the advice he got from Chipper Jones about Hooter’s waittresses.

Chipper said “just the tip”

JMK says:

Well played, sir. Well played.

JMK says:

Chemistry breeds biology! Gotcha, Kay!

mike jones says:

What happened to Edwar Ramirez…I thought he used to be good?

Drew says:

Haha, Swish making Al scratch his head… Not surprised. Swish may be nuts.

Mike Pop says:

Swish is always making those dudes laugh.

Seems like a chill dude.

Riddering says:

Hey, our brilliant plan to keep from needing Mo tonight worked!

Zack says:

beat the shit out of sonnastine – check
AJ pitch a good game – check
bullpen keep it going – check

Drew says:

Yeah, but if we needed him, we wouldn’t have him! Clueless Joe at it again.

Riddering says:

Worst manager ever. It’s only because of Pena in the dugout that we ever win games.

MikeD says:

Wow. A Molina walk might be more surprising than all the hits.

Zack says:

Dela G says:

damn molina has an A-rod-like line tonight

Zack says:

JMK says:

He’s just stat-padding, OHDONTCHAKNOW!

Drew says:

Kay: So, forget what I said.

I wish I could Kay, I wish I could…

JMK says:

Kay: I roofie myself to wake up in the morning and discover what I’m really capable of.

(Pause)

Kay: I misspoke. Forget what I said.

King of Fruitless Hypotheticals says:

…RAB have a mobile-friendly site? I’m dying here…

Tom Zig says:

How about they get a Blackbery app too.

Mike Pop says:

We should get benefits for every 2,500 comments.

Dela G says:

save the offense tomorrow for price

we’ll need it i think

Price has been thoroughly “meh” this season.

Mike Pop says:

As expected.

But if he keeps struggling, to thy 8th!

Zack says:

especially recently. look at post ASB, he’s cut down on his walk rate, but his K rate also dropped, and BAA has gone up. oh and hes a 5 inning pitchaaaaah

Mike Pop says:

A buddy of mine just showed me this Mike Francessa vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNdNIg7j_Aw

Drew says:

ahhhahaha

Understand?

Mike Pop says:

Joe DiMaggio is Joe DiMaggio. Joe DiMaggio in 1982 is doing nothing except being Joe DiMaggio. Joe DiMaggio is Joe DiMaggio.

What was that even about? Did Joe D do something stupid in ‘82? I was too busy being -5 years old to notice.

(Comments wont nest below this level)
Drew says:

Who cares, at least now we know, Joe DiMaggio is not Joe DiMaggio because of 1982. He’s Joe DiMaggio because he’s Joe DiMaggio, not because of 1982. Understand?

Getting preeeeeetty sick of that KGB ad.

JMK says:

It’s not nearly as bad as the NYQUIT commercials or the Axe commercials.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

Then you haven’t seen (actually you most likely have seen) the Vlasic commercials….

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hcVcXu51RA (SFW)

there’s 2 others, but I don’t want to bother.

Dela G says:

Kingjoe793 says:

Drew says:

How sick would it be to be able to buy a dugout microphone feed. I’d love to know what they’re talking about.

JMK says:

It could turn into its own show. “Sex Tips with the MelkMan” by Melky Cabrera.

Telemundo, of course.

Riddering says:

Me too. When I watch games with less…devoted fans, they wonder about my obsessive need to know everything going on. But, yeah, to have some inkling into those dugout chats would be fun.

Joseph P. says:

and he walks the 1st batter lol

Dela G says:

dunn

you have to throw strikes

pretty please?

Dela G says:

danny says:

Dunn is in great shape :)

Dela G says:

boy, after this season, someone needs to spend time with him throwing at a target for hours

Joseph P. says:

i def. agree his command is something else

JMK says:

Or throwing at Cody Ransom for hours.

Riddering says:

Our first baseman counseling Dunn. :p

Zack says:

having 2 catchers on the field at once- girardi is the genius!

Zack says:

Tom Zig says:

Dunn come on, just throw it down the middle.

Dela G says:

how was that ball 4???

that was strike 1

MikeD says:

What is that, five walks in one inning of MLB pitching so far? I think we see what he needs to work on.

scooter says:

AJ looking great is the biggest thing out of this game. CC, AJ, Andy is a nice trifecta to start the playoffs

VO says:

Odds that Mariano starts warming?

Mike Pop says:

Are you sure that’s not Posada behind the plate?

Riddering says:

LOL.

It definitely says something about the score that this 9th is making me laugh.

Riddering says:

If Posada was catching or at 1B, Dunn would have given up 10 runs by now.

cjc says:

Drew says:

Bro, throw the shit underhand, throw an eephus, do something, just throw a strike.

Joseph P. says:

Dela G says:

there you go dunn

congrats man on the K

Riddering says:

FIRST BIG LEAGUE K.

Thank you, Tampa!

Zack says:

odds he goes 3-0 against kapler? 80%

cjc says:

progress nice

prediction he wll replace coke at some point next year

MikeD says:

He has the stuff, he just needs the control. Hard to predict when, or if, that will come.

Drew says:

Who’s faster, JoMo or the Ray’s first base coach?

Joseph P. says:

Mike Pop says:

Keep rollin, rollin, rollin, rollin!

Dela G says:

great job all around today!

ballgame over!

Drew says:

Tom Zig says:

We have the same amount of wins as last year.

handtius says:

16! my favorate #!!!

/pedophiled

16! my favorate #!!!

/pedophiled pat’d

Better.

handtius says:

That’s just mean. straight mean. He did his time.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:
Mike Pop says:

Naa, that’s a low blow.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

You have to wait for Roger Maris for that one.

Mike Pop says:

Matt knows all about being not cool.

handtius says:

you 2 should go on a date.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

handtius says:

Is that really you Matt, playing the fool? I’ve taken a few spills in my day for others enjoyment.

You know how to cut to the core of me, Pop.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

Michael Dunn is about as controlled as WalMart the week prior to Christmas. Mariano, on the other hand, is under control as much as WalMart is before Kwanzaa.

gxpanos says:

You going to be here all week? Just so I know if I have to leave right now.

bonestock94 says:

I’m giddy at the strong potential of a 3-digit win record.

Johan Iz My Brohan says:

23 games left and we need 11 for the Triple Digits.

11-12 in the last stretch of the season… that’s weak, we will win a lot bunch more than 100 games.

Riddering says:

Those standings are pretty fierce. And to think, I was sure the Yanks wouldn’t hold on to the East for good after we got it back post-ASB.

Glad to be wrong!

Tom Zig says:

Another come from behind win

Greg G. says:

Nice shot of Whitey for the Magic Number photo! The Chairman of the Board!!!

Drew says:

Tom Zig says:

What do we have like 44 come from behinders this year?

steve (different one) says:

if this game counts, then i don’t think the stat is all that meaningful…

Tom Zig says:

no it isn’t meaningful just fun to keep track of

steve (different one) says:

no, you’re right, it is cool.

just think it would be better if “come from behind” was defined a little more strictly.

Derek is getting annoyed with all these questions.

Tom Zig says:

Its like asking about his defense.

Mike Pop says:

Burnett baby.

So fresh and so clean in his interview.

Charlie says:

how was this a sweep? don’t they play the rays tommorow too?

Drew says:

Tom Zig says:

and the next day, its just a double header sweep.

manimal says:

Tied the win total for last year.

Drew says:

What a win for the Canes!!! That was a sick game.

Tom Zig says:

The Yankee MLB site is talking about Jeter possibly passing Pete Rose’s record eventually…as much as I like Jeter, I don’t see that happening.

whozat says:

If he hung on forever and ever, I think it could happen. He could cling on with a team like the Pirates or the Padres or the Nats for years pinch hitting and playing all over the IF, and putting some butts in the seats with his name.

He wouldn’t, though. I think that Jeter, like Mussina, will want to go out on his own terms and not get shamed out of the game by sucking so badly that no one will give him a job.

Drew says:

His career average is 200 hits/Inning.

This is arguably the best year he’s had, sans 1999. I think, the way he keeps himself in shape, he can play another 5 years. That puts him close to 3800 hits based on career average. However unlikely it is, I don’t think you can write it off.
