I really think that Girardi is doing this to build up Bruney’s confidence. These games don’t really matter that much, but having a confident and effective Bruney would be huge for the playoffs.
Of course, if Bruney fails a couple times it could completely destroy him, but I’d rather have that now than in October.

BTW, I dont know how those of in NY/East Coast do it, commuting with trains and buses for an hour+ is fuckin hard and tiring.

I think the train is the more common method of transportation in the East Coast/NY area. I don’t know about GCS, but smaller train stations that all connect to GCS aren’t bad, they’re peaceful for the most part. There is always a lot of construction though imo, which makes driving difficult at times, but it isn’t too bad (I’ve had my license for about a month now…)

We got into trouble because a pitcher who would NEVER pitch 6+ innings in October pitched 6+ innings tonight. And then three pitchers who we’d count on coming into a sticky situation and thriving came into a sticky situation and thrived.
That’s why it’s a good scenario.

I’m not sure that Girardi would do something differently. Remember Game 5 of ALCS last year, when it was 7-0 rays in the 5th or the 4th and they have basesloaded no out. Francona brought in Papelbon in that situation and the Red Sox came back to win that game. Why can’t manager do that more often? so frustrating.

Right I definitely implied that. Of course I trust Hughes more than any other non Mo pitcher but the reason I quoted ‘The Artist’ because it’s so annoying how a lot of people must complain about every little thing Girardi does in an unimportant game.
Managing is not easy which is what i believe I wanted to be said again. I don’t know how in the world that translates into a implication that I have more confidence with Bruney than Hughes.
At least those people were first guessing, which is a fair thing to do. The decision just didn’t work out, which is part of managing.
What really bugs me are all the guys who are geniuses after the fact.
well the idea is to use your best reliever in the first high leverage situation presented in late innings. that will increase your chances of winning a game. obviously, nothing is perfect but girardi’s move was questionable, at least according to my philosophy.

I was somewhat curious as to how much of the older comments people read here, partly I was pissed at Hughes for blowing the lead (and I view Chamberlain in the same way that RAB views Melky, except I hate him far far more, and hate the Os for laying down for Buchholz, again. I’m also pissed that the Yankees don’t have a starter with Lester’s K-rates.

I think Betances will be ready for spring training. Someone on the Rays just had the same procedure and he can back in 6 months. That would put Dellin right around Febuary, assuming there’s no setbacks.
In case you missed it, it was initially reported as TJ but updated to a ligament strengthening procedure that’s less involved.
Yeah, I remember. In fact, I did a write-up of the procedure and other pitchers who had it and their return date in the thread. You might have even thanked me at the time.
That would be weird. But anyway, I still think that it will take him a bit longer because of his size, mechanics, and past injury history. I’m saying he’ll be back in early or mid-May.

Oh, btw, my cat pretty much had a heart attack in mid air, I think. I heard this crazy loud thud and figured he knocked something over. I went out to the room, and he was all sprawled out. I figured he hurt his leg or something then he started gasping, wheezing, and convulsing, and a few minutes later, he was dead. It was pretty shitty.
