Damn, exactly as I feared, the Denver D is imploding.

    • Salty Buggah

      fuck, please no TD

      • Salty Buggah

        OK, that works

  • Salty Buggah

    get a DP Phil

  • Reggie C.

Jets are gonna own the back page tomorrow unless the G-Men whallop the Skins later today.

  • Dela G

just got back from the watch party (got too much hw to do)

man the jets are effing salty on defense

Kris Jenkins looks like reggie white or lawrence taylor today

    • Bob Stone

The Jets look great on both sides of the ball except for the interception that led to a TD.

    • Zack

i felt bad for schaub, seeing 375lbs of kris jenkins running straight at you

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Phil Hughes looks rusty. Hmmm … I wonder how that happened.

    • Moshe Mandel

      Yeah, soooo rusty.

    • Accent Shallow

Yeah, they’re going to have to get him more regular work if they don’t want him to be rusty in October.

  • Reggie C.

Jets rush attack looks Giants-esque today.

  • Riddering

I would purchase a DVD set filled with footage of Swisher in right field.

  • Reggie C.

Hughes still pumping 95 mph FBs.

    Good sign.

    Pitch him 2 full innings?

    • Tom Zig

      lol yeah right.

  • Salty Buggah

    Hughes>>>>>>>>Rust

  • Tom Zig

Take that Matt Wieters and your 78 OPS+

  • Accent Shallow

Wieters is human! Wieters is human!

    • JGS

but…I thought he was a lock for AL ROY?

  • Salty Buggah

OK, Denver D fail….I blame Orton for getting sacked as a FG would have made the game a 2-possession game

  • Dela G

Sanchez will be the first rookie to win a road game since chris weinke in 2001…

    wow

    • Steve H

Has to be more to that equation than just rookie+road game. Ryan and Flacco sure won a few last year.

      • Dela G

        oh my bad

i meant first rookie to win a road game in week 1

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Yeah, I was about to say. Maybe his first road game? Or his debut?

      • Zack

its probably a rookie starting a week 1 road game

  • Dela G

    tex says.. “slump? what slump?”

  • Salty Buggah

There ya go Tex…cmon Mr. Cleanup Ramiro Pena

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

So they’re not going to bunt with Pena in this spot. Makes sense…

    • Bob Stone

ietc. I was thinking exactly the same thing.

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Girardi must not want to take the bat out of his cleanup hitter’s hands.

    • Salty Buggah

hehe, I really think Jeter decided to bunt himself

    • Moshe Mandel

It does, if you subscribe to the conventional wisdom about bunting. Girardi bunts if it moves the tying or go ahead run into scoring position. This was not one of those times.

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Adrian Peterson just basically ended my fantasy battle before it began.

    Awesome.

  • JGS

    HIT-DEKI!!!

  • Salty Buggah

    MATSUI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dela G

    HITDEKI!!!

    WOOOOHOOO!!!

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Nice day for the Sayonara kid.

  • Bob Stone

    Hit-deki!!!

  • Riddering

So I said, “C’mon, Hideki, hit one out of here” and then Kay called the hit right and my excitement was not for naught.

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOO.

  • Zack

    eddie royal = fail

  • http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2009/07/23/alg_burnett.jpg Mike Pop

These are the Yankees I like to see.

  • Salty Buggah

Eddie Royal FAIL! Takes the kickoff about 6-7 yards deep in the endzone with 35 secs left and takes it out, only to slip and fall at the 12.

  • Reggie C.

Orton is not gonna imitate John Elway.

    • Steve H

      Or will he?

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Holy shit, that was amazing.

  • Reggie C.

    OMG !!!!!!!

  • Dela G

    TOUCHDOWN DENVER!!!

    OH MY GOD!!

  • Salty Buggah

OMFG!!!!!!!!!! Broncos luck out! WTF! UN fuckin believeable!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • BigBlueAL

      That was UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!!!!

  • Steve H

    Kyle Orton=Winning QB.

    • Dela G

seriously, all the guy does is win!!

      • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I mean, really! His team is undefeated!

    • Zack

just wait. mcdaniels will be crowned a genius tomorrow

  • BigBlueAL

I fucking love this new NFL Red Zone channel.

  • Salty Buggah

Still cant believe that happened! I feel so good right now

  • http://tomorrowsnewsyesterday.wordpress.com/ JMK

    The Bengals–masters of futility.

    • Zack

the bengals.com message board just crashed too

  • Bob Stone

I’m really disappointed in the Rays. They certainly aren’t making it any easier for the Yankees to clinch the division. How could a team picked by so many experts at the beginning of the season to be in the playoffs or better run up a ten game losing streak.

At least they made it easier to win my bet with my sister, who roots for the Rays, for best record for the season. She paid me two weeks ago.

    • Steve H

“Experts”. These are the same guys who picked Chipper Jones for MVP, Randy Johnson for Cy Young, etc, etc, etc.

      • Zack

Yankees to finish 3rd. im looking at you olney

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I picked the Rays to win the Wild card. Alas, I fell into the trap.

Who picked Johnson to win the Cy Young?

      • Steve H

Jim Caple at ESPN. Also several BJ Upton MVP picks. A couple of Liriano for Cy. And a Jason Bay for MVP.

        http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/.....xpertpicks

        • Zack

Klaw picked the A’s out west, ouch

        • Accent Shallow

Whole lot of “Sox take division, Yankees miss playoffs” over there.

  • Salty Buggah

    Broncos WIN!!!!

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

What did I just see in Cincy? Holy shit.

  • Salty Buggah

    Melky!!!!

  • Bob Stone

Exciting finish to the Denver/Bengals game!

  • Dela G

    10-3!!!

    puttin a hurtin on em!

  • http://opensourcecomedy.net/images/melky_box.jpg Drew

    Thought I’d chime in.

    Melky is good at baseball.

    Go Skins.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Boooo. G-men.

  • Riddering

    Melky Clutch!

  • Bob Stone

Now that Matsui took away the save situation, can we please see Hughes pitch the top of the ninth????

  • Salty Buggah

Mo is a Broncos fan today

  • Dela G

    GRIT GUTNER!!

    11-3

  • Salty Buggah

Damn, that was a lucky it for Gardy but it was bad luck that it went in the stands.

  • Riddering

Oh, Brett! The other centerfielder of my heart!

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Tex has two hits today, including a double.

    Who’d a thunk it.

  • Dela G

MARK TEX SAYS FUCK YO COUCH!!!

    YEZZUR!!

    13-3

  • Salty Buggah

Pad them stats Tex! 13-3…run diff going to be good

  • BigBlueAL

Lead might be Bruney proof now.

    • JGS

      Bruney-proof?

      this one is Lidge proof

    • alex gonzalez

      bruney? yes. marte? not quite.

      • Steve H

Yes. In 7 appearances since coming off the DL he has given up hits in exactly 1. He’s given up baserunners in 2.

    • Bob Stone

      ietc. Thinking the same thing.

    • Tom Zig

      Chris Britton proof

  • Riddering

    LOLOLOL.

Other teams must start sweating when they play the Yanks and the game reaches the 7th/8th inning.

  • JGS

    John Sterling singing–

“Here comes Trembley, he’s going to the pen. Here comes Trembley, for an out he’s got a yen”

  • Tom Zig

    Why bother taking him out?

    • Bob Stone

Trembly doesn’t want McCrory to have a higher ERA than CMW.

  • Tom Zig

According to Gameday, Meredith replaced himself twice

  • Accent Shallow

I stopped watching the game, and the 8th isn’t over yet? Wow.

  • Dela G

    lol kay you are slow

  • Salty Buggah

    Pena with the hustle!

  • JGS

I wonder if this team’s OPS in the 7th-9th is over 1.000 yet

    • Bob Stone

It feels like it’s over 1.200!

    • Tom Zig

      .893

      (not including today)

  • Riddering

Yanks trying to make up for all the 2-out runs they’ve given up.

    • Dela G

      yep

pay back for that boston series

  • Bob Stone

Bruney for the 9th. I think he has enough runs to work with.

  • Salty Buggah

damn, I really wanted a GS there

    • Tom Zig

a GS is the ultimate rally killer

    • Bob Stone

I don’t know Salty – GS can mean SO many things!

      • Salty Buggah

Well, I wanted the Baseball GS but I wouldnt mind a GS with Megan Fox and 2 models

        • Bob Stone

          ietcvm

  • alex gonzalez

odds of him issuing a walk with a 10 run lead?

    • JGS

odds of him issuing a walk with a 10 run lead?

      100%

  • Reggie C.

    Manningham looks crisp.

  • Dela G

well bruney starts it off in bruney fashion

    BB

  • JGS

13-5 against Baltimore for the year is pretty solid

  • Accent Shallow

Of course Bruney walks the leadoff man.

  • Zack

i thought the saints rebuilt their defense? how can you let the Lions score 27 on you?

  • Bob Stone

    Another walk – UGH!!

    • Zack

      why are we suprised still?

      • Bob Stone

I wasn’t surprised. Just disgusted and tired of it. Bruney can be better than that.

  • Reggie C.

    GO FOR IT !

    C’mon Coughlin! Dammit!!

  • Dela G

    good lord bruney sucks

  • JGS

why are they taking him out?

    • MikeD

      Punishment.

  • http://tomorrowsnewsyesterday.wordpress.com/ JMK

I tend to agree. Let Bruney figure shit out on the mound.

  • Salty Buggah

    Pena isnt shitting at all.

  • Tom Zig

I wish Edwar would rock the Duaner Sanchez goggles

    • http://tomorrowsnewsyesterday.wordpress.com/ JMK

      How about Rec Specs?

  • Reggie C.

Bruney struggling like this is gonna fuel the growing sentiment that he doesn’t belong on the playoff roster. Looking longer term , this team needs a better power righty than Bruney … especially with Hughes out the picture after the ’09 playoff run.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Magic Number = 13

  • Accent Shallow

    Edwar Ramirez: fireman

  • Salty Buggah

    WIN!!!!!!

    Magic Number = A-rod

  • Bob Stone

Way to go Edwar. Bruney could have done that. He just needs to get his control back.

  • MikeD

Every Yankee win is a good win.

  • Salty Buggah

Is that his Walk-off against Bahston?

  • Riddering

Well, it only took three innings for the Yanks to notice Girardi had been ejected and then get all offensively fired up!

    /ejection meme’d

  • Dela G

    great win

  • Bob Stone

I can’t believe that the Dodgers still have a larger run differential than the Yankees – 154 to 152. Although, that could change today as the Dodgers are losing to the Giants 2-0, but it’s only in the second inning.
