It does, if you subscribe to the conventional wisdom about bunting. Girardi bunts if it moves the tying or go ahead run into scoring position. This was not one of those times.

I’m really disappointed in the Rays. They certainly aren’t making it any easier for the Yankees to clinch the division. How could a team picked by so many experts at the beginning of the season to be in the playoffs or better run up a ten game losing streak.
At least they made it easier to win my bet with my sister, who roots for the Rays, for best record for the season. She paid me two weeks ago.
