..I guess. I’d rather Jorgie stand up for himself. Obviously he can’t get hurt right now but I wasn’t too worried about that. It’s a baseball brawl, they happen often and rarely result in serious injuries. Jorgie is tough, he can handle himself, 37 yr old surgically repaired shoulder and all. Carlson turned to him and demonstratively yelled, F you, you mother Fer and some other words I couldn’t quite get a read on. At that point I don’t see Jorgie, or anyone else for that matter just walking away and taking a seat on the bench.

this 1-4 shit from arod and tex aint gonna cut it…

  3. JMK says:

    Another triple for Tex? Wow.

  4. JGS says:

    UZR hates Vernon Wells

  5. Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

Would anybody be surprised if we won today?

  6. Dela G says:

tex with 2 triples in 2 nights??

    wow

  7. Riddering says:

    Gardner’s got some competition!

  8. Salty Buggah says:

    Yea, a walk-off two-out down by 3 in a 0-2 count Grand Slam!

  9. Riddering says:

I want a grand slam this inning. Can’t believe the regular position players have let Molina show them up for this long.

  10. Chris says:

I love the ESPN headline about how impressive Dice-K was in his return. In 6 IP he gave up 3 BB and 9 fly balls. That’s generally not a recipe for success. His luck was good in 2008 and tonight, but those sort of peripherals won’t lead to sustained success.

    • JGS says:

on the other hand, we’ve been saying that his entire career

      • Chris says:

His peripherals were slightly better in 2007, but his performance was basically in line with what was expected. It’s just 2008 where he should have sucked, but got lucky and was actually pretty good. This year he should suck and has.

  11. chriskeo says:

I know this was discussed in the previous thread, but how many games does posada get suspended for, and would he appeal it?

    • Pasqua says:

I’ll say 3-5. I don’t know if the obvious crack on Carlson’s head would have any bearing, but it certainly doesn’t look good. But it was pointed out before that the appeals process might push the suspension into next year, assuming Jorge continues to appeal.

  12. The Artist says:

Is there any chance Jorge’s suspension spills over into the playoffs?

Let’s say it takes Bob Watson 7-10 days to figure out what to do, and he gives Jorge 6 days. That would take us into October.

  13. king of fruitless hypotheticals says:

…make league throw 30 pitches tonight–if nothing else, continue to gore the soft underbelly that is their pen…

  14. Salty Buggah says:

fuckin League stinks against everyone else but is good against us.

  15. RollingWave says:

    14 hits + 3 walks = 3 runs?

The good Joel Sherman makes an appearance, nails the Joba-babying thing.

    • The Artist says:

” Sure you might notice that teams all over the major league landscape are either curtailing or completely shutting down young pitchers because their innings have swelled too high. But, again, those are facts. And those are other teams. These are the Yankees and they are ruining Chamberlain. Right?

They’re ruining him because he should be a reliever pitching less or a starter pitching more. Can’t the Yankees see this? They are pitching him too much, except for when they are pitching him too little. Why can’t the Yankees figure out how to use him just like you want him to be used, throwing seven innings as a starter on Monday and setting up Mariano Rivera on Tuesday? “

      • king of fruitless hypotheticals says:

…maybe its just late, maybe my blood sugar is low, but i dont understand those words–if this were on teh SAT’s, i’d still be in teh army right now…

    • I read that this morning and was flabbergasted.

      • The Artist says:

        There’s two Joels.

1-A calm, rational, somewhat modern sportswriter.

2-The Mets fan (which he is) who just doesn’t get what the Yanks are all about on any level.

The above article was the good Joel, and his pieces around opening day bashing the new ballpark were the bad Joel.

    • Salty Buggah says:

Awesome, maybe the best thing Sherman has ever said.

    • Riddering says:

      PREACH IT.

I just fistpumped in the most inappropriate place while reading that article.

  17. king of fruitless hypotheticals says:

    MATSUI!!!

  18. If that guy’s a kid, then I’m an infant.

  19. king of fruitless hypotheticals says:

    guzman time.

  20. Dude is like 35 yrs old, “kid behind the dugout.” Kay is a dunce.

  21. Lanny says:

Professional hitters never give up at bats.

  22. Evan says:

1 for 7 is enough to tell you he’s not good at pinch-hitting?

  23. king of fruitless hypotheticals says:

WTF is matsui at first right now?!?!

  24. Mike R says:

What happened to CC in that brawl? Someone mentioned to me that he must have taken a shot to the head? Any other Yankee’s take shots?

  25. Salty Buggah says:

    League has REALLY good stuff

  26. RollingWave says:

This game proves the Yanks can not win, all the other 90+ win games don’t matter

    /Lombardied

  27. Tom Zig says:

I defended Mitre and this is what he gives me. What a jerk.

  28. pollo says:

Fuck. I was really hopin this division would be wrapped up by the time our west coast swing came about.

I do not want to face Boston in the ALCS anymore with a healthy Matsuzaka…Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Matsuzaka is deadly.

  29. Mike says:

Just saw a video of Girardi blatantly getting sucker punched while trying to break up the fight by John Macdonald, what a classy player.. Whole thing could of been avoided, I would of been all for it had the Yankees came up on top, but it wasn’t in the cards… I’d like to see us come back strong tomorrow with an offensive uproar, while hopefully Gaudin has a good outing.

  30. Tom Zig says:

im so pissed that i missed the fight

  31. Tom Zig says:

Im also pissed that Kyle Farnsworth isn’t on the team anymore. Today would have been the perfect moment for him
