  1. EvoLuTioN says:

really joe? you’re gonna burn hughes in a 9-5 game but you can’t use him in a tight game where you’re down by a run or 2?

  2. Brazilian Yankee says:

If that was Jeter flipping the ball to Cano they turn the DP. And that’s not a knock at Jeter, it’s just how good Cano is at turning the DP.

  3. Drew says:

Stupid Albe… now Philly has to pitch. I doubt he’ll be available tomorrow afternoon.

  4. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

So what are the chances that Albaladejo is released or nontendered (what the hell does this even mean) this offseason?

  5. Dela G says:

where the fuck was hughes on monday when the yanks were down 3-1 in the 6th inning against the angels?

    joe, why so damn inconsistent?

  6. Jeremy says:

    Hughes? Really?

  7. acb says:

why not use bruney? (I cant believe i just said that)

  8. Reggie C. says:

This team needs a Rafael Soriano type for next season. Seriously. Aceves can’t be the ONLY reliable RHP coming out the ‘pen. Robertson is good , but Joe G. doesnt use him enough. Albie and Melancon aren’t shut down.

  9. aj says:

So heres my jackass move of the day:
Eating a pretzel on a bench in Central Park, I gave a piece of it to a pigeon. Then another pigeon came. The next was even bigger. The more pretzel I gave, the more the big pigeons attacked and pecked the small ones. In the end, there was nothing but dead pigeons and salt on the floor, and I’ve been traumatized for life. Couldn’t be my fault right? I’ll keep my pretzels to myself now.
    Go yankees!

  10. “JMK says:
And seriously, by weight, I’d bet I’ve had more pussy than you. By weight.

Are we going by average, or total aggregate? I think you win on mean, median, and mode, but if we’re just adding all of them together, I’m sure I’ve got you.

I may not hit fat chicks, but lots of skinny girls add up quick.

  11. aj says:

    That’s nasty.

  12. Salty Buggah says:

    HUGHES!!!!!!!!

  13. Dela G says:

    damn bye bye bay

    i love the pornstache

  14. Mike Axisa says:

    Nice one, Kay.

    “Schwashwwwaschwaswing and miss, strike three!”

  15. Riddering says:

Relievers must be the new long ball.

Dug by both sexes, all ages, races, religions, and classes. But can they bring about world peace?

  16. Reggie C. says:

New ESPN headline: RS rally falls short. Maintain dominant lead in WC race.

  17. ansky says:

    HUUUUUUUUGHES!

  18. EvoLuTioN says:

hows that tyler clippard for albaladejo deal looking right about now?
btw never in a millions would have i thought i would say this

  19. Will says:

Hughes is getting a little of the “I can’t believe they’re bringing me into THIS game” look that Mariano gets sometimes.

  20. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

I don’t know if I will miss Hughes in the bullpen next year. He really turned this team around with a bp role. I will love it when he finally starts, but how will the bullpen shape up next year?

  21. aj says:

Tyler clippard is having a nice season in relief for the nats against the NL, let’s not go nuts.

  22. aj says:

Wang as a reliever next year if he comes in?

  23. ansky says:

Was that Phil Hughes or Ron Jeremy?? Are we donning Porn staches for the playoffs??

  24. Salty Buggah says:

You know you have a good night when they cant even fit your other things you’ve done in the night. (They couldnt add Alex’s 2 walks and 3 SBs)

  25. Esteban says:

No one is keeping score at home Michael

  26. Mike Axisa says:

Is Dusty Brown playing second? That’s awesome.

    He’s a catcher.

  27. bonestock94 says:

In the last thread someone mentioned that they hoped Pujols was ok. What’s the deal?

  28. Dela G says:

holy bunch of pitchers batting for the red sox batman!

  29. Drew says:

Thank Mo we don’t need to trade Joba after his performance today!

    /Omar’d

  30. ????? says:

Is this America or the Ukrane?

  31. aj says:

Maybe we can see Nick Green pitch again.

  32. ????? says:

Really Yo, I was no Halladay now I’m blocked, is there free speech or not in America?

  33. GRGOYLDEF@ says:

I want Guzman to steal home.

  34. Esteban says:

YES should not show that play

  35. Will says:

In theory, you could call all steals against the Sawx this season “defensive indifference”, for the mere fact that they are starting Varitek.

  36. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Michael Kay did u really have to show that we no what happen.

  37. ansky says:

Swish is having a terrible night at the dish.

  38. aj says:

I don’t care what people say. I enjoyed Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo bay. Even though it was horrible.

  39. ????? says:

If this is now the USSR or the USA then just let me know so I can go ahead and move to Cuba.

  40. EvoLuTioN says:

    Rockies win

  41. JMK says:

    Swish has been terrible tonight.

  42. bonestock94 says:

That “mac snack wrap” ad makes me nauseous. The square processed meat and cheese sauce really screws me up.

  43. ????? says:

Cuba has free health care, so does Canada, so does England, so does France. We have the Yanks and Cuervo, whopeee!

  44. ansky says:

Chris Woodward? ..WTF?? he’s still in the league?

  45. Dela G says:

that order to face looks as daunting as a wet rag

  46. ansky says:

Varitek=Pizza behind the plate. Lets Run all weekend!

  47. ????? says:

The First Amendment to the Constitution states that I have the right to free speech. Yet some geek with a keyboard gets to decide what’s acceptable and what’s not ok. That’s not American.

  48. ansky says:

Wow claimed off the Mariner waiver wire?…talk about desperate. I’m sure NESPN called it a blockbuster move though.

  49. AJ says:

Alby off the 40 man. Ramirez too

  50. ansky says:

maybe the Sox will go after Vizquel next. Another brilliant move by Theo Einstein!…since Smoltz and Penny worked out so well!

  51. Dela G says:

    WALKING ROCCO BALDELLI???!!???

  52. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Rocco Baldelli = Final Lottery Ticket.

  53. ansky says:

What does the C on Varitek’s jersey mean? caught stealing? cant throw? Cant hit?

  54. Johan Iz My Brohan says:

The relief today (with the exception of Hughes and Aceves) has been br00tal

  55. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

And neither one of those guys were Dice-(wal)k

  56. Drew says:

Who else is thrilled that Tek played the whole game and Lowell is sitting his ass on the bench?

  57. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    beautiful.

  58. Dela G says:

    FUCK YEAH!

    YANKEES WIN!

  59. JMK says:

This game was never in doubt. Great win. Keep the numbers dropping.

  60. ansky says:

What a DP!!!! give that man a gold glove right NOW!!!! ROBBIE!

  61. uncle stevie says:

GET THE BABE RUTH PHOTO READY

  62. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

    That was DEEEEEE-Liteful !!!

  63. bonestock94 says:

Cano too lazy to take the ball out of his glove.

  64. Bob Stone says:

Great win. Totally unexpected. I figured the Yanks would lose this one and win the next two. Maybe a sweep is possible.

  65. Esteban says:

    beautiful turn. stellar game. 3

  66. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

    BABY ROOF???

  67. Greg G. says:

Hmmm…who will they pick for the #3 photo? Tough call.

  68. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    Babe Ruth

  69. Bob Stone says:

Wow. This was an uncharacteristically short game for Red Sox and Yankees. Just a little under four hours.

  70. Will says:

Robbie Cano, WERE YOU NOT AWARE?

  71. Drew says:

Lost in the shuffle tonight will be how we pounded Lester (not literally).

  72. Bob Stone says:

I can’t decide whether to watch the NESN or YES postgame show. hmmmmm . . . watch the pain and excuses for Boston or the confidence and joy in the Yankee Clubhouse.

  73. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Really? A near dead Babe Ruth?

  74. ????? says:

Go ahead and allow the government to continue to own the means of production, dictate your debt, make you dependent, even control speech on a supposedly freely owned website. You are idiots to allow yourselves to be fooled into complacency and dependency. Go to work on Monday to your “careers” while your homes are worth nothing, you have nothing saved, and those that own you profit. If you get sick, who cares, you are replaceable, a part only nothing more. You are a piece int he game and nothing more. You are happy with that? Then be happy but know that you are just a dog!

  75. Salty Buggah says:

    A bit late but….WIN!!!!

  76. Will says:

Hm, apparently the out-of-market blackout for YES on FIOS applies to postgame too? Dang.

  77. aj says:

Arreola-Klitschko tomorrow, big heavyweight title bout, make sure to check it out.

  78. Quikksand says:

    yankees win baby

  79. Mike Axisa says:

Sorry about that gents. Our friend has been banished to the most fascist regions of TEH BANHAMMAH!!!

  80. Keanu Reeves says:

    A little off topic here:

ESPN, as most of you probably now, has designed web sites specific to cities. The first was Chicago, the next to come was Boston.

I just saw an ad for ESPN Dallas.

There’s an ESPN Dallas before there is an ESPN New York?

    Fail.

  81. Bob Stone says:

What a great win. I thought going into this game that it was far more important to get a decent to good outing from Joba than to get this win. To get both . . . the good outing and the win is a huge bonus.

  82. Drew says:

    I see yesmichaelkay is back.

    My favorite of the night.
“Hey fans! I don’t want to take a stolen base away from A-Rod, but here’s two minutes of me saying why A-Rod shouldn’t have a stolen base.”

  83. Steve H says:

On NESN they just did a montage of all of the steals tonight to the song, “It keeps you running”. Great stuff

The Angels will be running all over the place.

  84. Greg G. says:

Just realized that tomorrow’s game is on FOX. Phooey.

  85. ESPN headline:

    “Expect The Unexpected”

Yeah, because there was no way to predict this. No chance in hell that the Yankees could beat the Red Sox. None. They have no weaknesses, and we’re a walking enigma. Million-to-one longshot.

It’s like Seabiscuit v. War Admiral. Buster Douglas v. Mike Tyson. Hickory High v. South Bend Central. This is the most shocking development in human history. Nothing is safe anymore. Sun may not come up tomorrow. Space-time continuum is in jeopardy.

  86. Sweet Dick Willie says:

From the Sons of Sam Horn game thread:

There once was a man named Varitek
who could catch and throw to great effect.
    But then he got old,
    and covered with mold.
Now he can’t get no respect.

  87. Bob Stone says:

I love Jeter but he has to be the most boring sound bite ever. He is the master of cliches. He’s memorized millions of them.

  88. Bob Stone says:

Boston Herald Headline ” Yankees, ARod bruise Lester and Red Sox”

  89. pat says:

lohud and rab again have the same picture
