This team needs a Rafael Soriano type for next season. Seriously. Aceves can’t be the ONLY reliable RHP coming out the ‘pen. Robertson is good , but Joe G. doesnt use him enough. Albie and Melancon aren’t shut down.

Well, he’ll be a Type A, so we’d have to give up the 30th pick in the draft to get him.

I don’t know. Generally you don’t want someone who generates so many balls in play as a reliever. That’s why guys like Hughes who get so many swings and misses make great relievers.

The reason was basically “The Boston web media market is collapsing and this is prime time to pounce”.

Even if you had a prime opportunity to roll out in Boston, and even if you somehow had similar golden opportunities in Chicago and Dallas, there’s no reason to have NOT rolled out in NY and LA by now. Those markets are large enough that there’s no need to wait for a prime oppportunity; every day is a prime opportunity.

I lived in the Boston area at the time, read both papers and listened to WEEI Sports Radio and it wasn’t much publicized until well into the divorce, and then not really very much in the papers or on WEEI. It was kind of a sub-terranean story. MSM kind shied away from it, even during the protracted contract negotiations.
