Guzman has not impressed with his base-stealing much in his short time here and that just made it worse right there.

Willing to be it’s because Hughes debuted in the rotation, while Joba debuted in the ‘pen.

…and his reasoning is that Hughes’ body language suggests he knows he can dominate MLB hitters and he’ll carry that through to next season. I’m not disagreeing with that, yet Joba also had that same body language and confidence, so why is it good for Hughes but not Joba?

tRA WAR or FIP WAR?

I don’t much like FIP WAR, it’s like giving Matt Wieters the RoY because he’s the most talented of the AL rookies.
Do you like the tRA version more?
I think I’d rather use an ERA-based WAR, since a pitcher with a flukily low ERA is providing value, even if he’s doing it in a manner that he’s unlikely to reproduce, or even continue with.
Of course, ERA has to do with factors beyond a pitcher’s control, such as his defense.
I’m not crazy about tRA, since it’s dependent on stringers, but I think I like it more than FIP.
If going by what the pitcher actually did, I think it’s better to go by total runs allowed instead of earned runs.
While you’re absolutely correct, I can’t support anything that helps Curt Schilling look good.

Actually, this loss is a perfect example of why the season has been so much fun. Out of nowhere, you’re suddenly in a position to win the game. Considering you’re gonna lose a fair share over the course of a season, can you really ask for any more than what you just got at the end of that game? Great stuff. Great year.

Joba has had a disappointing season. Gaudin has pitched better, not just w/the Yanks but overall (San Diego as well). I’d be happy w/five good innings from Gaudin. Joba has done nothing to earn his spot, and we have a backup ready. Gaudin please.
5 good innings from Gaudin against a contender is as much of a toss up as Joba, imo. If there is 2 men on and Miggy Cabrera is at the plate, I’d have more confidence in Jober.

Minor nitpick, prior to this year they have had one winning season, granted they had a great year last year, but “past success” is a bit much. I’d say the Rays have been a part of CC’s success, not the other way around.
