Staten Island walks off with the division lead
ByFor some reason, Yurendell DeCaster was released. All he did was hit .301-.369-.446 in 53 games for Triple-A Scranton.
Short Season Staten Island’s roster took a big hit today; Schaeffer Hall, Arodys Vizcaino, and Francisco Rondon were all shut down for the season. Homer machine Neil Medchill is out with a bum wrist.

Huh, have to think it’s non baseball related (about Decaster).
And I won his autographed picture in the raffle at the Scranton get-together on Sunday, lol.
kiss of death you are.
Well, he’s a 3B, and that position is more or less locked up at the MLB level for the next 10 years.
He couldn’t possibly be worse than Ransom, though.
click on the link and it gives a possible reason, some kinda tournament. still seems stupid to me
The fact is if he was any good and a legit prospect nothing he could have done in his personal life besides killing dogs it seems would have got him released.
Nobody who 30, (turned 30 8/26), is a legit prospect. He was a productive veteran AAA roster filler.
Good to see Brackman ending the season on a high note.
Brackman, future ace! Book it!
Heh, “book it” is like your trademark.
Don’t forget the reply fails.
and the defending Burnett.
I’m a mess, yo.
I woke up in some chinese family’s rec room this morning and they would not stop screaming.
It was a Japanese family’s rec room. They are different you know. Show a little sensitivity, Pop.
No that was Champ, this is me.
Like he said, he’s a mess. He ebbs and flows like his boy Burnett. Pop was on fire for a stretch earlier this year, but has been slumping lately. Pop, you better get it going in October.
Future ace RELIEVER! Book it!
Indeed – what’s up with Brackman coming out of the pen?
Probably an innings thing.
Brackman the Bust. Guessing that will be the last time they hand out a roster spot to a draftee.
Arodys shut down? Damn, gotta wait till next year I guess to see his stats in DOTF. He was the Jesus of pitchers for me.
Guy has a great arm. I was hoping that they would have challenged him with assigning him to Low A but next year will be big.
Brackman is making progress. I wonder if they just told him to throw it hard right down the middle. Hopefully this will continue to end the season and he can end on a high note.
Agreed. It may or may not mean anything in the long run, but you certainly wouldn’t want him heading home for the winter thinking about how terrible he is. At least a good finish there is some promise and optimism for the future (in his eyes especially).
He needs some coaching from Nick Swisher.
Don’t we all? How much better a place would the world be with more coaching from Nick Swisher? Obviously we can’t all be Nick Swisher, but if we all spent 5 minutes each day emulating Nick Swisher, all of the worlds problems would vanish.
You really think smoking pot for 5 minutes a day will cure the world’s ills?
Charleston was actually no-hit for the first 9 innings.
…..on the other hand, Charleston pitchers have thrown 33 consecutive shut-out innings.
Really? That’s incredible!
SI takes a hit there for sure but they added enough pitchers that I don’t think it makes a huge difference.
Arodys hadn’t pitched in a long while since his shut down anyway.
Er not shut down, back tweak.
Adam Warren = ace of 2010 Tampa rotation
Where is slade??
He was traded to the Newark Bears.
they sent him off to get ready for instructional league.
Dave Adams season in Tampa has been very encouraging.
Adams has an .865 OPS in 220 PA at Tampa, including a .500 Slg %.
That is impressive production in the FSL, even for a player with college experience. And it’s even more impressive coming from a middle infielder in the FSL.
This. I like Adams and Russo a lot.
But can they jump as high as Cody Ransom?
I like Adams a lot too.
Phil Bartlewski: 0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Ay Caramba!
Who?
Mike Jones
Who?
Well played, sir.
DeCaster is almost 30 but it still makes little sense unless he does in fact want to play in another league.
has angelini been declared a bust already? convert him to pitcher maybe? trade him for andy Stankiewicz?
any chance to replace the players they call up GCL guys like Turley, Jose A. Ramirez and even DeLeon if Neil is out for any length of time?
How about Corban Joseph? Is he a legit prospect or just an organization filler? Maybe Brackman has found a home in the bullpen. Future closer?
The guy cant get out rookie league hitters and you’re talking future closer? Maybe in the oriole pen.
have you seen his numbers since he was put in the bullpen? Obviously not. Read the post next time before commenting.
