Cody Ransom: 0 for 5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
Shelley Duncan: 1 for 5, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K – sitting at 98 RBI … he’s got three more games to get to century mark
Juan Miranda: 0 for 3, 2 BB, 2 K
John Rodriguez: 1 for 2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Reegie Corona & Doug Bernier: both 2 for 5, 1 K – Corona homered & drove in two … Bernier drove in a run & scored twice

Jason Hirsh: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1-0 GB/FB - 6 of 9 pitches were strikes … he came out of the game with an injury after making a play on a soft grounder out in front of the plate … maybe he rolled an ankle or something… hopefully it’s not something serious, they’re going to need him in the playoffs
Luke Prihoda: 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1-6 GB/FB – 32 of 49 pitches were strikes (65.3%) … now that’s some quality long relief

Zach Kroenke: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 3-4 GB/FB – 20 of 26 pitches were strikes (76.9%)
Scranton has already clinched it’s fourth straight division title. The first came when they were still affiliated with the Phillies, the last three have come under the Yankees’ watch. They’ll take on either Durham or Gwinnett in Round One (best-of-five series) of the playoffs when they start on Sept. 9th.
Double-A Trenton (4-3 win over New Britian in 12 innings) winning the must win keeps their playoff hopes alive … there’s two games left in the season, and they have to win both to make the postseason … Jason Stephens get the ball in tomorrow’s must win
Austin Krum, Matt Cusick, Edwar Gonzalez & PJ Pilittere: all 2 for 5 – Krum drew a walk, got caught stealing, scored three runs & K’ed … Cusick doubled, drove in two & K’ed twice … Edwar K’ed & got caught stealing

RAB regular Rebecca was at the game and took some photos. You can see them here, here, and here.
High-A Tampa had their doubleheader postponed. I don’t think they’re even going to bother to make these games up since they have absolutely no bearing on the playoff races whatsoever. Tampa has already clinched a postseason berth and will take on Brevard County in Round One (best-of-three) of the playoffs when they start on Sept. 8th.
Low-A Charleston (5-4 win over Savannah, walk-off style)

Ewin Walker: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1-3 GB/FB
Charleston isn’t going to make the playoffs. Their regular season ends on Monday.
Short Season Staten Island (11-2 win over Vermont) when the team scores 10 runs in the second, they usually win … but then again, how often does a team score 11 runs in a game when it’s 1-2-3 hitters take a combined 0-fer?
Francisco Santana: 0 for 5, 1 R
Justin Milo & DeAngelo Mack: both 0 for 4, 2 K- Milo drew a walk, drove in a run & scored another
Luke Murton: 2 for 3, 2 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Zoilo Almonte: 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Mike Lyon: 0 for 1, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K
Kelvin Castro: 2 for 3, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K – career night
Hector Rabago: 0 for 2, 1 R, 2 BB
Carmen Angelini: 1 for 4, 1 R
Kelvin Perez: 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 4-5 GB/FB – 56 K in 59.1 IP
Ben Watkins: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 3-3 GB/FB – so I guess whatever injury forced him from yesterday’s game couldn’t have been that bad
Mike Solbach: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 WP, 2-1 GB/FB
Ryan Flannery: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 3-0 GB/FB – Robert Pimpsner says his 34 appearances are a team record
Staten Island has already clinched the division and a playoff spot, and it looks like they’ll face Lowell in Round One (best-of-three) of the playoffs when they start on Sept. 8th.
The Rookie GCL Yanks season is over after they lost to the GCL Marlins in Round One of the playoffs. The GCL Nats won the league championship.

What time does Trenton play tomorrow?
1:35
Good DOTF. But I miss some Jesus!
Trenton game tonight = so so much better than last night.
Let’s go Thunder!! (Clap-clap-clapclapclap)
Who pitches tomorrow’s game?
Charleston may not make the playoffs this year due to a lack of impact talent, but there chances are better in 2010 with the arrivals of DeLeon, Heathcott, Higashioka, Murphy, and Arodys Vizcaino.
I’m not sure how the rest of that rotation is going to pan out beyond Arodys Vizcaino … maybe kids like Gerritse and turley will get a shot. The lineup should be much improved.
sorry for asking b/c im sure u guys discussed it somewhere else…
but where is medchill?
he is resting a sore wrist until the playoffs start tuesday i believe.
thank you!
Gardner getting ready for a Monday return?
Monday would be a good time for him to come back with the double header the Yankees play. Regardless of when he comes back I’m looking forward to seeing him again. That injury was a tough break in his rookie year. He’ll give this Yankee team a better defensive option in the OF. I’m tired of seeing Hinske misplay balls.
Yeah, nice to be able to have the defensive replacement late in games.
Gotta like Trenton’s chances with Stephens
With that offense? Eh.
From Facebook:
Neil Medchill: just clinched the division.. yankee stadium monday to see the hand specialist, crossing my fingers
Consider my fingers crossed.
If you’re going to see a hand specialist, crossing your fingers may not be the best idea! Seriously, I hope he’s OK.
