  1. Jackson says:

    Remember when people were worried?

  2. Accent Shallow says:

    Girardi,

Gaudin is finishing this game. Just like Sergio Mitre in that laugher in Boston, he’s not giving up 9+ runs before he gets three outs. So please don’t warm anyone else up.

  3. Mister Delaware says:

Going back one thread, Beltran had 8 (in 56 PAs!) in 2004. So he’s tied with 2002 Bonds if 8 is the highest.

  4. Dela G says:

    what an asskicking

    i love this offense today

    holy shit

  5. JMK aka The Overshare says:

Next on The Real Housewives of the O.C.: The Yankees come to town and stick thundersticks up the no-no spots of the Pacific Time Zone Angels, small monkeys de-evolve, and Matt Palmer’s wife found dead from wounds authorities believe were caused by pruning shears.

  6. JobaWockeeZ says:

So I guess the Yanks read the post about how they aren’t hitting at all.

  7. Accent Shallow says:

We just can’t escape Josh Beckett’s long shadow, can we?

Most overrated pitcher in the majors.

  8. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

alright Chad, you got day off tomorrow we don’t…lets finish this quickly..no fuckin around,.

  9. jim says:

    You were warned.

  10. ansky says:

Yanks should put the pic of the little girl crying on the bulletin board…just for fun.

  11. Wasn’t Bob Shepherd’s birthday a week ago?

  12. Accent Shallow says:

10-2 if we’re in the bandbox.

I thought Bob had already turned 99?

  13. ansky says:

nice home run trot there Rivera.

  14. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Didn’t we have Bob’s bday last week?

  15. Jake H says:

What is crazy is that the Yanks really have out played the Angels. This should be a sweep.

    • ShuutoHeat says:

What’s crazy is we’ve outplayed them without even playing at 100%. We’ve seen this team at 100%, when everything was impeccable.

  16. master bra'tac says:

    happy birthday bob shep

  17. Jackson says:

You know what the best part is. The only way the Angels can win this series now is by beating CCin a game. That’s not happening.

  18. NYTraveller says:

It was wrongly reported as Oct 14 – today is the right one.

    Happy 99th VOG

  19. JMK aka The Overshare says:

It’s a sad day when Gary Matthews Jr. is your last hope.

  20. cjc says:

wonder how our friends over at Halos Heaven are doing right about now

    love it

    • AJ says:

Probably rehashing old stories about A-Rod’s steroid use, looking for a way to find that CC knew the signals for each batter, and predicting that the Yankee batters looked the wrong way at Kazmir.

  21. james says:

Burnett’s gonna finish it off and then world series here we come!

  22. Lot’s of Yankee fans there. I love it.

    • ShuutoHeat says:

I think half of them were Angels fans with Yankees gear on under waiting to take off their Angels gear.

      • Camilo Gerardo - your inception? fuck perception, go with what makes sense says:

not proud to say that I’ve done that. ditched glasses del sol at time of fanatico change as well. someone thought i stole a red-socks-fan’s seat and called security. then i showed him my ticket

  23. Mike Pop says:

    After game 3:

The Angels have all the momentum, pressure on Yanks.

I always get a kick out of shit like that.

  24. yankees=warriors says:

    To Bob C.:
Yeah, you’re right about the productive out thing. Maybe I’m just frustrated…
It’s been painful watching Swisher’s ABs, because it seems he’s trying to get a walk everytime he comes to the plate, obsessed with his own strike zone and ignoring the ump’s.
Throw in the squandered scoring chances and base-running mistakes today, and I’m really pissed…
Hope he proves me wrong tomorrow or in the WS.

  25. Riddering says:

    Yesterday seems so far away.

  26. ansky says:

    Happy B-day Bob! Great win.

  27. The sky is back where it should be.

  28. Mister Delaware says:

    THA-AAA-AAA … … … YANKEES … WIN!

  29. TJ says:

Nice work by Gaudin to finish it off.

Good job Yanks! Let’s end this on Thursday.

  30. e mills says:

can’t wait til my 2009 playoff hoodie arrives!

  31. Michael Kay says:

to be fair to the Angels, Sabathia could clearly be seen in the bottom of the 5th turning around and using a bit grinder on the ball.

  32. Mike Pop says:

Starting CC on 3 days rest is a bad idea – Steve Philips.

    Ugh, Stee.

  33. dkidd says:

does gaudin start game 4 of the ws?

and please don’t tell me this series isn’t over yet

    • Game 1 of the WS isn’t until Oct. 28, so CC will have 7 full days of rest between then and now.

I bet we line him up to throw Games 1-4-7 of that series, even on short rest. The short rest is mitigated by the long rest he had between the regular season and ALDS, between the ALDS and ALCS, and between the ALCS and WS.

3 man rotation for the World Series. You heard it here first.

    • PaulF says:

I expected Gaudin to have some rust, but he looked real good. I actually trust him to give us a solid 5 innings. On second thought, Gaudin against the Philies lefties might be a bad idea.

  34. yankees=warriors says:

Yikes, that line is just SICK!

  35. AJ says:

Solid game tonight for the Yanks. See, everyone who worried last night was just pulling the trigger waaaay to quickly. This team has been spectacular, and I can’t wait until Thursday night. Good game tonight.

  36. JMK aka The Overshare says:

    Yankees>The Ledge

  37. mustang says:

Great job of bullpen managing by Girardi.

    Oh wait a minute…..

  38. Yanks21 says:

1 more win and then the Promise land!!! ohh how I have missed that place

  39. Salty Buggah says:

Who knew A-rod was 8 feet tall?

    Oh…

  40. Bob C says:

hey this was in the other thread (maybe getting ahead of myself a little bit, but i dont think so) here is the schedule for the WS, and i thought id put where the pitchers would pitch was wondering what you all thought

    Oct. 28- Gm 1- CC
    Oct. 29- Gm 2- AJ
    Oct. 30- Break
    Oct. 31- Gm 3- Pettite
Nov. 1- Gm 4- CC on 3 days rest
    Nov. 2- Gm 5- Joba/Gaudin
    Nov. 3- Break
    Nov. 4- Gm 6- AJ
Nov. 5- Gm 7- CC on 3 days rest

not sure if CC would be able to go on 3 days rest twice but ya, i think you have to use Joba/Gaudin though

  41. Klemy says:

ZZ iz like a fine wine.

  42. Drew says:

    A journey back in time…

    http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-314976

    Conveniently, Fox erased that page.

    We all remember though, SGNJ.

  43. JMK aka The Overshare says:

    Ken Rosenthol: Skittles…

  44. Mister Delaware says:

Assuming no rain (holla at Blind Melon!), here’s the layout.

    Game 1
    Game 2
    Off Day
    Game 3
    Game 4
    Game 5
    Off Day
    Game 6
    Game 7

So we lose a day from the ALCS and Game 4 and Game 7 would both be on 3 days rest. And I do it, not question.

  45. count crapulent says:

We’ve been at the World Series since the middle of August, who are we kidding.

    Cue: parity outcrys.

Respond: We’re NEW FUCKING YORK FUCKERS PARITY THIS

  46. Eirias says:

    Emplified? Bobby V… for shame.

  47. Esteban says:

From that ridiculous Angels blog that shall not be named. Batshit insane

So two Yankees are tagged not standing on a base, what happens? One is called safe. This is just one of many instances this postseason where the most ratings-friendly team in baseball located in a favorable media market is being gifted more opportunities to score and to wear down the opposing pitcher.

Numerous calls that should have gone the Angels’ way and a strike zone the ignored the knees and letters to an Angels starter who lives on the outer limits of the plate can only add to the frustration as anyone with an historical appreciation of the game can practically smell a media-industrial complex version of Arnold Rothstein collaborating to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Chicago Black Sox in corrupt style.
    (emphasis added)

  48. count crapulent says:

    The score is 10-1

that is “stick your thundersticks up your monkey’s ass” big

    right, zz?

  49. DSFC says:

The tears of that girl brought the biggest smile to my face. I could not see enough of those disconsolate Angel faces….so very, very sweet.

  50. Brooklyn Ed says:

ONE more win till we hear the long-waited words: The Yankees are going to the World Series.

  51. JMK aka The Overshare says:

Haha Duke Castigliowhatever is a complete turd. Where did they find that goon?

  52. Drew says:

Did anyone see that stat on YES.

Al has 8 straight playoff games with a RBI. That’s an alltime record, is that only for the Yankees? I only saw the graphic for a second.

  53. count crapulent says:

If the Yankees are winning against the Angels, Mo must be cheating and we’re paying off the umps.

If the Angels are winning they are fundamentally good.

It’s like breaking up with a chick who says, “I was too good for you anyway.”

    The answer is “yeah. okay.”

  54. mustang says:

The Yankees make little girls cry, cheat, are part of a media conspiracy, had a part in the John F Kennedy’s Assassination, started World War 1&2, and were the reason for the Great Depression.

  55. AJ says:

Don’t forget Watergate and the Bill Clinton – Monica Lewinksi conspiracy.
