ALCS Game Three Spillover Thread V

By
Categories : Game Threads, Playoffs
  • Accent Shallow

    Agreed.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

You play to win the game!

    • frank

Joe Girardi blew this game. He has over managed every game in these playoffs but this is the first game that came back to bite him in the ass. He is not a post season manager. Joe Torre would never have made these decisions. Girardi will be the only reason why the Yankees don’t win the World Series this year.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Shut ‘em down again, Phil.

  • http://www.repairmycomputer.com Marc

I need this game to end so I can go to work! Cmon Yanks!

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

Not a good time to ask for the game to end! Dammit Marc!

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Jeff Mathis? Seriously?

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      That was my exact reaction.

  • Mike Pop

Damn. Jeff Mathis does get big hits.

    • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

      I misread that at first.

  • Accent Shallow

    Doubles to terrible hitters?

    Not cool, Phil.

  • Handtius

More Hughes…how does this back up catcher always hit doubles?

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

Gotta go to Mo’s… Modells! yeahh

  • Dela G

    shit

  • Salty Buggah

    Damnit. Put Mo in?

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Well, here comes the sac bunt.

  • Patrick

I feel like I’m watching the Jets in a tie game after they’ve missed field goals all day. Of course, that’s where the comparison between the two teams stops.

  • jim

    ya, we’re gonna lose

    • Mike Pop

      Shutup. Please, thank you.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      Welcome, “jim.”

    • Handtius

      glad your here.

    • TheLastClown

There are blogs for Angels’ fans you know.

  • ansky

    fuck

  • Brian

    Please get out of this!

  • JackC

I’m not an expert, but I think that’s not good

  • Brazilian Yankee

Let’s lose this game with our best pitcher still avaiable.

  • Mac

Sandman in. Keep this tied for another inning.

  • Salty Buggah

Please Mo. PUHLEEEASE let Mo get out of this unscathed.

  • Mike bk

i hate when yankee manager do this…if you were going to bring mo in with guys on and 0 out just put him to start the inning.

    • Handtius

I had no problem with leaving in Hughes to start the inning and no problem with him bringing Mo in now.

  • Dela G

    joe G aint fuckin around

    • Brazilian Yankee

      He already fucked it up.

      • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

        You’re not actually from Brazil.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Show me where you first guessed pulling out Hughes.

      • Handtius

        WE GOT THIS!!!

  • Jackson

Sac bunt, ground out to the pitcher, K. Get it done.

    • TheLastClown

Broken bat to Mo that Mathis tries to advance on, gunned out at third.

      K. K.

      • TheLastClown

        Prophesy fail.

  • AdamParker

Why weren’t the outfields playing no doubles defense??

    • Mike bk

      sac bunt, walk, DP?

      • AdamParker

Doesn’t really answer my question, but okay.

  • kunaldo

i was worried for a second that girardi would be married to the save rule…cmon mo, be the god that you are

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

    Yay trolls.

  • Hugh Jassman

Mo in with men on = loss.

  • Mike Pop

    This doesn’t look good.

    • Ivan

      Have Confidence, Mo’s here.

  • Ivan

Phil, your killing me. Punto, now Mathis. Ugh.

Oh well, Gotta go to Mo.

  • Hova

    In Mo we trust…

  • ansky

I cant get those two innings w/ men on 1st and 3rd out of my head. Swish really shit the bed on that.

  • http://twitter.com/hopjake Jake H

I don’t understand this move unless this move.

  • marc resnick

def the right move and one torre would never make

  • AJ

Let’s go Mo. If I want anyone in during a huge pressure situation, I want Mo.

  • Babe’s Ghost

    In Mo we trust

  • ShuutoHeat

Gotta love the negativity from some people tonight.

So when something bad happens, it is “YOUR YANKEES”. But when something good happens, it is “OUR YANKEES”.

If we lose, then we lose. You gotta stand by your team, if you don’t who will? A stanking Boston fan?

  • danny

i know i shouldnt be nervous, but im nervous.

  • mustang

all I done for the last 2 weeks is watch baseball and do things to make it up to my wife for watching baseball

    • count crapulent

sounds like a very binary existence

  • Mike Pop

Trolls make me a sad panda.

  • Accent Shallow

So Scioscia pulls Napoli for a weaker hitter, and it’s led so far to the Angels taking the lead, and now a leadoff double that could win the game.

    Bad decisions that work. Oy.

  • Brazilian Yankee

Cashman needs to visit this team again.

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

Yeah they didn’t go 11-0 against the best teams in the league. NO NOES!

    • Mike Pop

STFU HOLY SHIT. THEY WENT 5-0 BEFORE THIS. CHRIST.

      • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

IS 5-0, 11-0? NO SO STFU POP!!

    • Eirias

Yes. The sweeping of the Twins and the taking of the first two ALCS games does bode poorly for the Yanks.

    • SF Yanks

The Red Sox can use another fan. You should go join them. They have a decent ball club. We won’t mind.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

You can’t bunt on the cutter.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

    Aysh.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Come on, Mo.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

    Fuck.

  • Dela G

    shit

    shit

    shit

    shit

    shit

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    This is trouble.

  • Mike Pop

    Wow. We had him too.

    Shucks.

  • Ivan

    Ugh.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Fucking perfect back up, Johnny. Wow.

  • AJ

Ugh. Not a good error there. But the K and double play are still intact. It was a good idea, but just bad execution.

  • Salty Buggah

Fuck. A good throw gets him there, Mo.

  • Mac

    faaack

  • Brazilian Yankee

Come the fuck on Mo. I wouldn’t expect that from you.

  • Reggie C.

    Aw fuck.

This will require some real Mo magic to get out of this one.

  • Jackson

    Dammit, he had him dead

  • Mike bk

    no need to rush there.

  • Hugh Jassman

    Dumb play.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

great job by Damon. Load the bases??/????

  • danny

    :(

  • ShuutoHeat

I’m more worried about Mo, did he trip? Is he okay?

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

Mo is going to bear down and strike out the side here. Watch.

  • Hova

The ghost of Nick Adenhart is starting to appear. I’m officially terrified.

    • pat

      Stopppp.

    • count crapulent

oh stop. I really dislike that stuff.

    • slappy white

      TCMMS

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      This confuses me.

    • SF Yanks

      C’mon.

    • Hova

      Oh my goodness gracious!!!

      /waldman’d

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

It will be a miracle if we get out of this.

  • Babe’s Ghost

    Three strike outs

  • Reggie C.

any number of ways can keep Mathis from scoring. game not over.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

Woof I’m fucking dieing here. Please Mo pleasE1!!!

    WOW

  • Dela G

    ok one out

  • Salty Buggah

    OK, IBB then DP.

  • Ivan

    God I love u Tex.

  • AJ

Alright, c’mon Mo. You can do this. Two more outs.

  • ShuutoHeat

WOW TEX!!!! Okay, whoever is going to shit on Tex needs to remind themselves of all the plays he made today.

  • Mac

load them now, pitch to tori

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

MORE defense from Tex. That’s like 3 XBH’s he’s saved today.

  • Jackson

    Once again, Teixeira is ridiculous.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Okay, okay.

Let’s do it, Mo. Let’s do it.

  • Accent Shallow

    Woo, Tex.

I think it’s game over if Mathis goes.

  • mustang

    MY GOD !!!!!

    • mustang

seriously what could they be telling Mo use the sinker?

  • Dela G

you have to load the bases here

  • danny

    teix is the fucking man

  • Handtius

    WE WILL GET THIS DONE!

  • Babe’s Ghost

now I’ve seen everything… Mo giving up an intentional walk?

    • AdamParker

      It isn’t unprecedented.

    • count crapulent

      textbook baseball

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Mo kills lefties, but you have to do this. Sets up the DP at any bag.

  • Mike bk

in on the corners, back up the middle?

  • pat

    FUckin hate away games.

  • Babe’s Ghost

Dave Eiland, “OK here’s the plan. Mo strikes him out.”

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      I like it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

I really hope that is what happens.

  • Jackson

Wow, really shitting on Damon’s arm here huh.

    • pat

      No egos, gotta win.

  • Mac

johnny always looks happy, what pills is he on?

    • count crapulent

      he’s just very dumb

  • Handtius

    interesting move…

  • slappy white

this means Mo bats third for us WHEN we bat

    • Marcus

      second

  • Ivan

    Lets go Mo.

  • Eirias

Seriously, what would Dave Eiland be telling Mo.

  • Dela G

alright mo, you have to focus

  • Accent Shallow

Alright Mo, nowhere to put him, so do your thing.

  • Salty Buggah

Cmon Mo, dont walk em in.

  • SmittDogg

    lets go mo

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Yeesh. Mo’s gonna have to wiggle out of this one.

  • Handtius

    come on mo….come on.

  • Accent Shallow

One more strike and we can almost relax.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    Tex. Again.

  • Mac

    phew…..1 more

  • Reggie C.

    Beautiful execution.

    1. More. OUT.

  • SmittDogg

    Cmon mo. One more buddy.

  • Salty Buggah

One more Mo. Don’t fall into the 2-out runs crap.

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

We are so lucky to have Tex.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Hyper ventilating now.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

If it’s your thing. Say your prayers, boys.

    One more.

  • Mike bk

i think in these situations our pitchers put some sort of magnet on Teix.

  • pat

Beating a dead horse but Giambi would have lost this game innings ago.

  • Ivan

Iight one more. The last out is always the toughest no matter the hitter for some reason.

  • Handtius

We got this we got it.

  • Accent Shallow

Vlad. Mariano. Bases loaded. Tie game. Extra innings.

    Whoa.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Ok, 2 outs. We have a shot.

    BTW-What a fucking game.

  • Dave G

C’mon MO. Get us out of this

  • SmittDogg

you can do this mo, lets get this.

  • Accent Shallow

Buck talking about walks here? Zero chance he walks Vlad.

    HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

  • http://www.repairmycomputer.com Marc

    Holy crap! Hell yeah!@

  • Jackson

And that is why Mariano Rivera is Mariano Rivera.

    • Accent Shallow

That’s about the best explanation you can give. Wow.

  • Brazilian Yankee

    Thank God for Mo.

  • Mike bk

    Teixy sexy.

  • Hugh Jassman

    HOLY SHIT MO MAGIC

  • Handtius

    I”S KNEWS IT!!!!!

  • Salty Buggah

MARIANO RIVERA IS A GODLY GOD! WOw!

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

    The Lord performs another miracle.

  • http://twitter.com/hopjake Jake H

Got to win it this inning now.

  • Joey

    All praise Mo, amen

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

MARIANO YOU ARE THE LORD AND SAVIOR.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Feel a big weight lifted off your shoulders, don’t you?

  • mustang

    This fucking Crazy now

  • E-ROC

Sucks to be an Angel’s fan

  • Reggie C.

    NOW LETS WIN THIS FUCKER!

  • Frigidevil

    Thanks be to Mo

  • Babe’s Ghost

    Eat it doubters!!!!!

  • slappy white

ONE MORE TIME…..IN MO WE TRUST

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

I’m hyperventilating and incoherent and the same time. Mo is our salvation.

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

I’m pulling a 2003 Game 7 Mariano post-Boone HR. on the floor right now.

    Mo appreciation thread now plz.

  • YankeeScribe

Wow! Just wow! Atleast Tex isn’t slumping on defense

  • AdamParker

Mo, MVP of Baseball! Tex, best 1B evah!

  • NYQ

    LETS F*****G GO!!!!!!

  • ShuutoHeat

People gotta stop shitting on Tex, everything he has done in this game defensively all then makes up for his lack luster plate appearances. If it wasn’t for Tex, the game would’ve ended ALREADY.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

STFU trolls. And you can GTFO while you’re at it.

    • ShuutoHeat

      +42

Fucking trolls and haters and bandwagon fans have been dotting this place for a bit. When we win, all the people abandoning ship can go suck on it.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

The greatest of all time. ALL TIME.

    • Joey

Nick Swisher and Chuck Norris combined have nothing on Mo

    • The Fallen Phoenix

      Just sayin’.

  • wilcymoore

Hey, can Teixeira get Game MVP even if he makes out every time he comes up?

  • SF Yanks

Holy crap, I can’t believe we got through that. I mean, I know it’s Mo and all… simply amazing. Now, step on their fucking throats!

  • SmittDogg

    The Cardiayankees ride again

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

People forget, but the late 90s groups played a lot of these games. Especially in 1996.

  • J

    he is seriously a genius.

  • Mike Pop

    Fuck the haters, son!

    Mosanna.

    Epic.

  • Keanu Reeves

In Mo I trust. That’s just incredible.

  • Eirias

Do you think Mo has paid for a drink in the last decade?

    • SmittDogg

      The man doesnt drink coffee…

  • baravelli

Okay, this is interesting: Mo’s now batting in Damon’s spot. If Melky/Jeter somehow score a run between them, does Mo bat?

    • AdamParker

Fuck yes! We already know he can work a walk.

    • Keanu Reeves

I think he has to stay in the game. Especially if they get a lead.

  • Hugh Jassman

Mo, grant me the serenity …

  • Tom Zig

    We can do this

  • Dela G

    oh my god

    i can’t believe what i just saw

  • YankeeScribe

We would have lost this game if Giambi was playing first base…

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

      we upgraded

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

So we should start building an actual church devoted to Mo, like, yesterday.

  • .

ALL PRAISE MO!!! GO YANKEES GO!!!

  • ansky

oh my god….i mean oh my MO

  • slappy white

WHEN Jeter homers….MO gets to bat

  • Jackson

Rivera is up 3rd this inning, but I think he might be a better hitter than the 3 guys on the bench who can pinch hit.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Yeah, were leaving him in so it’s not a decision.

    • Mister Delaware

That reads dumb but I don’t doubt you’re right. Cervelli isn’t a massive improvement over Mo unless you have a runner or runners on.

And yes, please use Lackey, Scioscia.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      +1

      • Mister Delaware

You wonder if he planned on throwing after the game or if this is for reals.

  • Mike Pop

    Game MVP – Mo.

    • Joey

Teix based solely on defense. Seems like he’s been in every defensive play

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Alright, let’s tag this pigeon looking mother fucker now.

  • Handtius

    It’s over. we got it.

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Unbelievable! Mariano for the walk off!

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      Actually – the go ahead.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

All of ya’ll bitching about Teix earlier.

    LOL

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Who bitched about his glove?

      • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

nada one. Just people that said he hasn’t shown up in October.

        • Brazilian Yankee

At the plate, he hasn’t. On defense he has been our best player though.

  • John Duci

Mo’s gunna hit a go ahead hr watch

  • Mike Pop

Who hits in the 2 spot? You gotta leave Mo in.

    • Mike Pop

That’s what my dad just said.

  • slappy white

    Is Santana Spanish- Amish?

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

    Mo with a RBI?

  • A-Rod Fan

MO DAMN I LOVE MY TEAM

  • Brazilian Yankee

It’s hard to believe a team with unlimited payroll has Melky Cabrera as their CF.

    • Hova

We like to keep it interesting.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

You’re running out of things to shit on. Spare us your C-material and give it a rest.

    • ShuutoHeat

      IS that you Lanny?

    • AdamParker

If we had an unlimited payroll, we would have resurrected Joe DiMaggio to play for us this year.

  • Dela G

    leave mariano in the game

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

We could need him tomorrow. Can’t burn him out, he’s 39 years old.

  • Hova

God damn it. Some of these other guys have to step up (Tex, Swish, Melky).

  • Ivan

    Lets go offense.

  • Dela G

fuck, i thought jeter hit that one out

  • ansky

They need to come up with a new name…because Closer doesnt cut it. All praise be to Mo!

  • J

    no mo’ mo

  • Accent Shallow

Thought Torii was gonna screw that up.

Well, Cervelli, time to do something useful. Remember that time in Atlanta?

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    Frankie pinch-hitting for Mo. Crud.

  • Brian

    Give us the lead Cervelli!

  • Accent Shallow

Sure, Buck, don’t mention his RBI walk!

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Goddammit. Right to him.

Frankie…just get on to get to Tex and Alex.

  • Babe’s Ghost

    this i would not do….

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

I wanted to see Mo hit. I know it’s stupid, but it would have been fun.

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

    CERVELLI.

Lift us up where we belong.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    Oh just wear that, Frankie!

  • Keanu Reeves

    WEAR IT!

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      Wear it with jeans!

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

A bit surprising, but that tells me he wants to save Mo for tomorrow.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      Of course.

  • http://www.repairmycomputer.com Marc

    What is Mo’s batting average?

    • Accent Shallow

.000. He does have an RBI walk, though.

    • Keanu Reeves

      He’s 0 for 5 I believe.

    • AdamParker

      0.000

He struck out and walked I believe.

    • TheLastClown

      .000

But he’s got a .333 OBP, and an RBI….BBRod, remember?

  • Mike Pop

    I’m still overjoyed about Mo.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Yeah, that was the biggest spot of the game so far, and he delivered. That’s all you can ask for.

  • Dela G

    oh jesus

    this sucks losing the DH

  • Joey

    That was weak…

    Let’s go K-Rob!

  • helix

Why does Mo have to hit anyhow? Wrong league?

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Hairston was put in as a defensive replacement in the DH spot so the pitcher goes to Damon’s spot now.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Yeah, a short pop fly with Damon’s arm would have been game over. Wasn’t a bad move. Gave up an out for it, and one we might not have ever had.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Okay. That was a putrid swing. Why the hell have they looked so bad on breaking balls today? Jesus.

    Do it, Dave.

  • J

If they bring in Lackey he won’t pitch a game 5? Saunders on 4 days rest perhaps????

    • Keanu Reeves

      Hopefully there won’t be a Game 5

    • Mike bk

game 5 is 3 days away so lackey can go 1 or 2.

  • Mike Pop

I would of let CC hit.

    kind of joking.

    • vin

      I’d let Swisher pitch.

      completely joking.

    • Keanu Reeves

Girardi already said he’ll use him in an emergency.

      We may see it lol.

    • Mike bk

i would have let CC hit right there.

    Aight fellas.

I’d like a slightly less stressful bottom inning plz!

  • Accent Shallow

Heart of the order against Robertson? Eek. Of course, if he can survive, it’s Tex, A-Rod, and . . . Hairston.

  • Sam P.

That was a pathetic 1-2-3 inning. Santana breezed. Come on K-Rob! Keep it going.

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

We have a relatively week hitting line-up in there right now – Cervelli, Gardner, Hairston

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Gardner’s not in.

      • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Right – replaced by Hairston in the batting order even though Hairston came in for Damon.

  • Mike bk

d-rob for what 2 at the most? can AJ go 1 today? or is it up to Gaudin after D-rob?

    • Jackson

      Aceves is still available

      • Mike bk

sorry forgot Ace, he has 1 or 2 in him today.

    • Keanu Reeves

      Don’t forget Ace.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      Ace?

  • vin

Time for Robertson to give up a lead-off double and wiggle his way out of it?

  • SmittDogg

Ok Robertson, lets make quick work of em… If need be, I’d like to see DRob get next inning as well

  • Kevin

Let it be said that despite Tex’s struggles at the plate, his defense has been phenomenal.

    • Sam P.

100% absolutely. Game is already over w/out his glove.

    • Brazilian Yankee

      Agreed.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Totally agree – Gaem over without his glove.

  • Eirias

    Ninja Assassin. Lol.

  • AJ

    Alright D-Rob, let’s go 1-2-3.

Then can we have some offense?

  • Mike Pop

    Ryan Howard – unbelievable.

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

This coming from a man who watches Alex Rodriguez on a daily basis.

  • ansky

I wonder at what point in the series, our offense will show up

    • Accent Shallow

Four homers counts. Now if only they’d come with men on base.

  • Ivan

This game is taking 3 years off my life rite now.

  • PaulF

Its going to be really hard to score with what the lineup is now.
A Tex or Posada shot seems like our only chance, since they’ll just walk Alex.

  • Salty Buggah

Let’s go K-Rob, get another win.

  • Dela G

good thing they still have ace and gaudin left

  • Handtius

    D-Rob on it…

PS. So can we officially put Brazilian Yankee on the “Troll” list? His comments are worse then Lanny’s.

    • ShuutoHeat

No doubt. I’m sick of the fukkin flip flopping bandwagon fans.

    • Accent Shallow

      I don’t think he’s a troll, he’s just pissed. I know I’m not totally happy right now.

      • Handtius

He was bitching about having Melky on the team because we have “unlimited funds”.

        • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

…after Mo pitched out of the 10th inning.

  • Yanks21

Get thorugh this inning… we got the big boys coming

    • Dela G

      tex, a-rod, gardner….

      • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

        Tex, ARod, Hairston

  • Keanu Reeves

    I love watching DRob pitch.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      That curve is just phenomenal.

      • Keanu Reeves

Plus the socks are a thing of beauty. He really wears them well.

        • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

He’s definitely got the figure for them.

  • Babe’s Ghost

I think it would have been better to have Mo bat and increase the likelihood of getting through this innning to Tex/Arod/Hairston/Cano and have another inning of D-Rob over the marginal benefit of Cervelli hitting. It’s not like bringing Po off the bench.

  • Salty Buggah

I hope Howard goes cold when/if we face him.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

We have D-Rob, Aceves, and Chad Gaudin left in the bullpen. All of whom can give us multiple innings.

And the best manager in baseball is warming up his Game 5 starter.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      I love it!

  • Accent Shallow

Morales. Eek. Here’s hoping that mound conference is better than the previous one facing a big hitter.

  • Brazilian Yankee

    Great umpiring as usual.

    • AdamParker

Shouldn’t you change your name to Brazilian Angel?

      • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

I don’t know, we all would think he was a girl.

  • baravelli

Do people like that move to lift Damon for defense in the middle of that inning? It makes things hairy with the lineup, but I think it was the right thing to do in that spot, especially considering Damon’s arm.

    • Mike bk

and if a fly ball had been hit to him, the game would be OVER.

      • Brazilian Yankee

That was sarcastic. D-Rob threw 3 pitches to the same spot. 2 of them were balls, one was a strike

    • AdamParker

If Damon can’t make a potential throw to home, gotta put in someone who can.

    • claybeez

Yes. Gotta live to fight another inning. With Damon’s arm, you’re dead.

    • AJ

It was the right move. It sucks that the the team lost the DH spot, but at the time they needed to worry about not losing the game. We all know J.D. throws worse than a fourth-grader.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

This ump is definitely generous when the batter is ahead.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Generous to pitchers, that is.

  • Mike bk

if he throws the curve he gets him.

  • Keanu Reeves

Strike two was a better pitch than ball three.

    • Keanu Reeves

Flip that. Ball three was a better pitch than strike two.

      haha

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      Exactly

    • PaulF

      Makeup call

    • Russell NY

No holds barred. Girardi’s fault here.

  • Accent Shallow

Out of the first five fastballs to Morales, four were practically in the same spot. Nicely done.

    Kendrick terrifies me.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Why the fuck is Robertson coming out?

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      WTF – Why?

  • Brazilian Yankee

Really? Robertson can only face 2 hitters?

  • Mike bk

    WTF?

  • Reggie C.

    Why?

    Why?

  • Salty Buggah

WTF? Leave K-Rob in. No me gusta.

    • scooter

      Can’t imagine there’s a history between Kendrick and K-Rob – is there?

My guess – Girardi wants to throw Kendrick breaking stuff only

  • AJ

Wasting away the bullpen Joe. I think D-Rob can do the job.

  • pat

HAHAHAHA they found a way to get Kei Igawa in.. WOW really curious move here Joe.

  • Mike

    wtf. why take robertson out

  • Jackson

You know, I never really question Girardi, but I don’t get this move.

  • james

why the hell are we taking Robertson out?! Over managing!

  • NYTraveller

Kendrick must have good numbers v DRob or terrible ones v Ace

    • TheLastClown

Never faced Ace, 1-2 against D-Rob

  • Ivan

    McCarver, shut up.

    Why take out D-Rob?

  • http://twitter.com/hopjake Jake H

Saving D Rob for tomorrow there?

    • scooter

That’s a better guess than mine

  • Accent Shallow

Not 100% crazy about this move. Anyone have any rationale? Aceves is crafty, and Robertson isn’t?

    • Keanu Reeves

The only thing I can possibly come up with is that Ace is a groundball guy and Kendrick has been hitting the ball in the air.

But that’s all I got and I don’t totally buy it.

    • AJ

On the radio they’re saying that because D-Rob throws fastballs and sliders he can be more predicatable, but Aceves has too many pitchers for a batter to key in on. I don’t necessarily agree with that, but let’s also remember that D-Rob had to miss time with an elbow injury at the end of the year.

  • Handtius

OK, I don’t complain about Joe G’s moves, but I don’t understand this one. Explain?

  • Mike Pop

Don’t like this move – but I trust Joe G.

  • danny

    over-managing

  • Brian

Not a fan of this move…let’s hope Joe is right. Go Yankees!

  • Christopher

Girardi seems determined to get Gaudin in a game at some time lol

  • Babe’s Ghost

Girardi is managing like he thinks it’s going to be a seven game series… I’m not sure that’s a good thing

  • Mike Pop

    Maybe concerns about the shoulder?

    • Mike Pop

      elbow*

  • Eirias

What is the general mood here on infanticide when it involves the eTrade baby?

    • AdamParker

      Love that baby!

  • SF Yanks

Alright those smarter than me… What’s the benefit to bringing in Aceves now when Robertson was doing just fine? Save him for tomorrow?? I would have loved to stuck with David, but I’m sure Joe knows a little more than I do.

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Well it seems universal here at RAB – We all hate this move.

    • Accent Shallow

I wouldn’t say “hate”, I’d say “confused by”.

  • Lanny

LaRussa Jr is at it again.

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

      Now the circle is complete.

  • pat

Kendrick never faced Aceves and is 1/2 with 2 rbi vs K-rob.

  • Salty Buggah

Got it. K-Rob threw 33 pitches in game 2.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

There you go. I was scratching my head on this one.

      • Lanny

So he cant face one more hitter?

    • scooter

      THAT’s the answer…

Funny that McCarver and the crack Fox team hasn’t come up with this yet

    • Chris V.

25 really. 8 of those were on intentional walks.

      • Salty Buggah

Still a lot for him, especially considering he’s had elbow issues.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I don’t get this at all.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Trying to save D-Rob for tomorrow’s game.

      • Lanny

        You dont play for tomorrow.

  • Yanks21

He must be saving these guys for tomorrow too..

They dont expect CC to go 7/8 Innings

Not sure why ACE scares me here.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Yeah, if not he would have stuck with Mo longer.

  • pat

Eh I guess maybe you gotta keep tomororow in mind too.

  • Hugh Jassman

    Joe:
“I’m doing it ’cause I’m the DAMN MANAGER AND ITS MY JOB”

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Yeah, I guess saving him for tomorrow makes sense.

Again, Gaudin’s all by his lonesome.

  • Babe’s Ghost

I think this is a big risk because you have no idea how Aceves is going to pitch. D-Rob was doing great.

    • J

Exactly. D-Rob had proven he’s got control today

  • james

    Girardi is an idiot

  • Brazilian Yankee

    Great move Joe. Great move.

  • Bednarz42

    great move.

  • Keanu Reeves

    So far so good…

  • NYTraveller

Just get the .200 hitter out once

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

Dammit, Joe, D-Rob is the one who gets the wins for SPs in the postseason.

  • Ivan

Oh no, Yankee Killer Jeff Mathis is up. ZOMG!!!!!!!

  • Mister Delaware

Between the Marte hook and now D-Rob, you wonder if Girardi is practicing for next year’s all-star game.

  • Yanks21

PLEASE ACE DONT FUCK THIS UP!

They will send you back to Mexico…. and we both dont want that

  • SmittDogg

Cano really had a shot at that – not saying he has to make that play, but his leash is a little shorter after his game 2 performance.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Let’s fuckin’ go, Ace. Remind this guy that he’s Jeff Mathis.

  • E-ROC

Marte, Coke, and Gaudin are left, right?

    • MAMO

      no… just gaudin

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

I’m thinking he went with Alf because Ace throws nothing straight. Howie could sit on D-Robs fastball.

    • Lanny

Not like D-Robs curve isnt top notch or anything.

But hey lets lose with our 10th best pitcher

  • danny

lets go ace, prove us wrong.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm61weFrK4c JobaWockeeZ

    More trolls??
    Sigh.

  • Brian

Just get one more out Ace!

  • Accent Shallow

Kendrick hitting .400 on the series: anyone want to take the under?

    Yikes.

  • AJ

Aceves, c’mon man. Mathis got a lucky double last time. You’ve got to attack the zone.

  • Mike Pop
    • Dela G

      oh wow

      that makes sense

  • Babe’s Ghost

Plus, in a best case scenario, Aceves has to close.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    POOP.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Oh well. Hell of a game.

  • E-ROC

    ol well

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

  • Mike bk

    way to go girardi.

  • Jackson

    Well that backfired.

  • MAMO

    game over. good job girardi.

  • SmittDogg

    Goddamn it Joe……

  • John Duci

WHY THE FUCK DID HE PULL DROB

  • Accent Shallow

Jeff fucking Mathis. What a fucking joke.

    Tomorrow’s another day.

  • scooter

Fuck me – Mathis wins it, and Girardi blew it overthinking

And Aceves has been awful so far against the Angels

  • Brazilian Yankee

GREAT FUCKING MOVE JOE GIRARDI. WHAT A PATHETIC MANAGER.

    • Mike Pop

      103 wins. Yup.

  • Yanks21

    FUCK YOU ACE

  • james

    Joe Girard blew this game

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

    Uh.

    Thanks, Joe.

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

    Girardi blew this one.

  • Ivan

Wow, I have no words to explain this.

  • AJ

That’s what happens when you don’t throw strike one. Tough game to lose, especially with Kazmir pitching tomorrow.

  • Jeremy

We made them work for it. We’ll get ‘em tomorrow.

  • mustang

Damn I know it’s one game but that hurt

  • danny

    CRAP.

  • Babe’s Ghost

    Like I said, bad choice

  • Reggie C.

    This is on Girardi.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    Jeff Mathis??

  • Mike

    girardi is a fucking asshole

  • Mike Pop

    Fuck man.

  • Mister Delaware

    Stupid fucking binder.

  • dgrgr

This loss is on Girardi, Swisher and Cano

    • SteveD Fla

Agreed Girardi fucked it up. WTF was he thinking

  • ShuutoHeat

Oh wellz, we lost this one. I’m still sticking by this team, no regrets. We get em.

  • Christopher

Girardi costs the Yankees a game in the post-season. Yikes.

    • MikeD

When the series started, I saw a few sabre-inclined commentators suggest that while they believed the Yankees would win it all, the odds were high that Girardi would cost the Yankees at least one win in the post season with over management of the bullpen. We just saw it. Hopefully he got it out of the way.

  • Charlie

fucking stupid as shit move. why the fuck would you take out d-rob when he a) is a beast and b) was doing fine. we all knew that stupid fuck would overmanage at some point. thanks girardi you motherfuckin dumbass

  • MAMO

ACE IS A LONG RELIEVER. NEVER PUT HIM IN WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE. GREAT FUCKING JOB GIRARDI. FUCKING IDIOT.

    • scooter

I’m pissed off, but this is a huge overreaction

Aceves has been solid all season. Now it’s two bad games in a row – no command, and meh stuff

In the playoffs, go with the guys who are throwing well.

      • Jobamania

he hasnt been solid for a while

  • MikeD

Over-managing by Girardi. Robertson should not have been removed, IMHO.

  • PsiFighter37

Stupid f’in Girardi. What the hell was that.

  • trueblue

    WHAT AN AWFUL GODDAMN LOSS

    Girardi is an idiot

  • Hova

Wow. Girardi will be ripped apart for taking Robertson out with two outs after a handful of pitches.

  • Brazilian Yankee

Someboduy quick, make an excuse for Girardi. Or Swisher. Or the rest of this pathetic offense.

    • TheLastClown

How about a question…what was the last team you saw go 11-0 in the Postseason?

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

God forbid we lose one game after winning 103 and going 5-0 in the playoffs.

    • Chris

Ummm… four runs in a game is not pathetic.

      • Lanny

No one makes excuses like this crew.

        • Babe’s Ghost

Um… when you’re in the ALCS leading 2-1 and your bitterest rivals are home eating donuts they’re not called excuses.

        • scooter

But you keep coming back for more, Lanny. If this board is soooooooo dumb, then please locate to a board more fitting of your giant baseball intellect

  • SF Yanks

Can’t win em all, I guess. However, I want zero momentum going their way, and that doesn’t help.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

People are going to be pissed at Joe but Alf has got to get the job done.

    • Brazilian Yankee

Joe Girardi has got to get the job done. He didn’t, we lost.

  • Reggie C.

    Very very disappointing.

  • Mouch “Half Man Half Couch”

    Girardi is a damn fool.
The Yanks can’t hit with RISP now wait till tomorrow when they face Kazmir.

  • Brian

Way to go Joe…hopefully this doesn’t turn the tide of the series. Fucking bullshit goddamnit.

Well CC tomorrow, hopefully he tosses a gem and the Yankees win.

  • Mark B

Torre would not have made that error….Girardi better learn from the mistake and move on tomorrow

    • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

I lol’d so hard at this.

    • Ivan

      Jeff Weaver said hi.

    • Tom Zig

We wouldn’t make it this far under Torre

    • Justin R

Yeah, because Ace would have been on the 60 day DL with a torn rotator cuff.

      • http://inthemasses.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/mad-max-poster-1.jpg gxpanos

        I lollered.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

        IETC

    • Dan

Yeah, Torre would’ve lost the game in the 10th by not bringing in Mariano.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

First, you’d have to wake Torre up.

  • billbybob

Wow. Girardi is a fucking moron.

  • Tony

    Girardi implosion

  • Ivan

I cannot wait for the stat of game 4. Yanks WILL get them faggots tomorrow.

  • mustang

D-Rob move was a killer no question.

  • Jobamania

    marte(lefty) gets 1 out on 1 pitch
gets replaced by phil coke(lefty) who gives up a double

    robertson gets 2 outs
gets replaced by aceves who just sucks and hastn been good for a while now to end the game.

    cool management girardi.

not to mention going 0-10000000 with RISP, can we get any worse? 4 solo blasts is pathetic.

    • Chris

The Yankees are 5-1 in the post season. The best record of any team. So, Yes we could get worse. We could be the Angels, or the Phillies, or the Dodgers.

      • Jobamania

i meant it as in this game:o plus we hvaent been hitting with RISP at all this series and it was bound to bite us in the ass. hopefully we learn from it.

  • YankeeScribe

    Girardi lost this game

    • CT Yankee

      Yes he did

    • toad

How many outs did Girardi make with guys on base?

I didn’t like pulling Roberston either, but come on. This should have been a blowout.

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

Lohud in the buildin.. what what

    • Charlie

dude, stfu. i bet you thought pulling d-rob was a good move, didn’t you?

      • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

lol at “Charlie” telling me to stfu.

        classic…

Is it the move I would have made? No.

When he did it I figured he went to Ace because Ace throws nothing straight. I think I understand why he did it.

      • Babe’s Ghost

I think “Lohud is my life” should be your tag

  • Tom Zig

this is what happens when you don’t hit with RISP…ever

    • Pasqua

Or you just don’t PUT RISP, ever, which is what the last half of that game was all about as well.

      • Tom Zig

        fair enough

      • Brazilian Yankee

Yankees are 0 for their last 20 with RISP. So yeah, they have been putting runners in scoring position.

        • Pasqua

          last. part. of. THAT. game.

  • marc resnick

The scouting report on kendrick is he cant hit off speed pitches. Ace throws junk. We saw kendrick line up fat fastballs all game. Ace just pitched poorly.

  • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Girardi is in press conference on YES

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Girardi gave a completely stupid answer for replacing DRob with Aceves

      • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

        For those without YES…elaborate?

        • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

I did elaborate elsewhere in this thread but basically he said: ” We have all the stats and information and thought it (Aceves instead of DRob) was the right matchup”.

  • trueblue

Tomorrow is a near must win.. CC on 3 days vs. a guy that owns us.. I don’t like the look of handing the ball to AJ in a must win game

    • scooter

      You’re kidding, right?

      • trueblue

No… You feel good about AJ vs. Lackey in Aneheim? I do not- never know what you get with AJ

This was a huge swing game. Yanks should have been up 6-0 vs Weaver but fucked it up.

    • TheLastClown

Let’s relax with the “Kazmir owns us” business.

He got lit up against the Sox in the DS, and only dominated against us once out of three starts this year.

      We’ll get to Kazmir & I’ll be there :)

      • trueblue

The numbers don’t lie… For Kazmir or for pitching on 3 days rest. I hope CC duplicates the other night and makes it moot, but there is nothing about tomorrow that is easy

  • Mike Pop

Bringing in Aceves >>>>>>>> dealing with the bullshit that will come from this both on here and the MSM.

  • Michael Kay

If Steinbrenner were still alive YES would be going live to a press conference to announce the new Yankees manager for Game 4.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      ietcvm

  • Jobamania

girardi: “we liked the matchup with ace better”

ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING ME? YOU LIKE A PITCH TO CONTACT GUY AGAINST KENDRICK BETTER?

    • Frigidevil

how do you like the matchup of never faced vs. an o-fer in your favor?

  • Ed

CC is going to have to pitch a shutout and hit for himeslef tomorrow.

  • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

no bridge jumping yet people. It’s one game and the Halos cant win at home.

One game, calm down. We lost our FIRST game of the playoffs and you’re acting like we’re down 3-0.

Tomorrow is another day and a big lefty, remember him?

    • Pasqua

Honestly, people have every right to be upset about this one. Losing is one thing, but increasing your chance to lose like that (as I and a lot of other people would agree happened) warrants some anger.

      • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

fine, frustration is seemingly understandable, but we probably were not going to win every game this series. Girardi messed up like every Angel in Game 1. There’s just no reason to panic is all i’m saying.

    • Charlie

really? tommorow is another day? you really don’t fucking understand the postseason, do you?

      • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

Are you socially or mentally retarted? Youre pathetic, see ya in red tomorrow you sorry bastard.

  • Lanny

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. Its been plain as day. Girardi aka LaRussa JR costing us a post season game with his ridiculous over managing. Its just sad.

    • scooter

Sad is you popping in here to troll the boards again

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      NO U

      • Lanny

So someone who criticizes the moves is now a troll?

So everyone who waves pom poms is ok I guess? F that.

If you cant take the criticism you shouldnt be posting on this board.

        • Mike Pop

You’re a troll because you change your name from Bo to Lanny in order to become that troll.

Also, when you get called out on what you would have done(for example: motherfuckers always asked you how to build a better bench, I’d fnd another comment of yours 20 comments down about you saying the bench sucks, great job cashman without ever responding to anyone elses response)

Yes, I know how bad that grammar was but i’m fuckin pissed.

        • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

          lol, u mad

  • stuart

the stooges tonight are; tex with another great offensive game, wow just saw swisher swing at another off speed in the ground in the clubhouse, and of course mister clutch himself robinson cano..

joe overmanaging with the aceves move enough with the damn moves………….

    0 for 8 with RISP, clutch……….

    • ACC

Can’t bash Tex- as poor as he’s been at the plate, his D all day kept the Yankees in it as long as they were.

    • Pasqua

Tex single-handedly (literally) save that game for an inning. Sure, it’d be great if he hit, but he’s been insane on the field.

      • trueblue

        Awesome… He is Tony Clark

        • Brazilian Yankee

          A very expensive Tony Clark.

          • Mike Pop

            A very annoying poster.

    • dan

I never have written to a blog but I am sitting here shaking my head and I need to vent.why replace a lefty pitcher with a nother lefty early in the game and then take the kid out to put in aceves. If you thought he was the guy you wanted he should of started the inning. If Melky starts next game just shoot me.

  • marc resnick

not to mention we are 3 for like 28 with risp this series. 3 for 28!

  • Mike Pop

It’s not like the pen has been absolutely fantastic for us this postseason.

    Let’s all forget that.

  • SteveD Fla

everyone on the planet was wondering what the fuck Girardi was doing taking out D-Rob. Way to over manage Joe.

  • adam

This confirms my thought that Girardi was lucky in game 2
Why pinch hit cervelli there. Mo has as much of a chance of a hit then one more inning.

How do you take Rob out of that game
    its criminal

i cant wait to hear this crappy explanation.

If they didnt have stupid guzman out there hinske could play or hit for swisher.

    UUUGGGHH

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      hit for swisher.

      I doubt that ever happens.

    • Pasqua

Putting Mo out there for the 11th without a lead hurts your chances in 2 different games. Yes, he might preserve the tie but there is still not guarantee that you win the game and then he’s out for tomorrow. At least, if I’m looking for silver lining, Mo should be able to pitch tomorrow.

  • ansky

True Girardi fucked up…but if Swish puts one in the air in either of the 1st and 3rd situation innings the game never would’ve been Girardi’s to fuck up. This offense has to wake the fuck up b/c Jete and AROD cant do it every day.

    • SteveD Fla

      agreed

      • Mister Delaware

Physical errors happen. Mental are far less acceptable.

    • Pasqua

You’re assuming the game plays out the same way if Swisher gets a run in, which you can’t do. I”m not trying to nitpick…it’s just the truth.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Bingo.

      • ansky

Yeah because we’ve never seen it work out before.ok.

  • Klemy

I just have to believe that was over managed. ughhh He better be useful tomorrow now.

  • Tank the Frank

No, Joe Girardi does NOT over-manage.

    /RAB’d

    • Lanny

Cant wait for someone to defend this.

Maybe Cashman should tie him up before Game 4.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Uh…up to now, he hadn’t.

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

      Move doesn’t work; overmanaging.

      Move works; overmanaging.

      108 wins; overmanaging.

      I get it now.

      • Brazilian Yankee

Blowing a playoff game = overmanaging

        • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

          Winning 5 playoff games; overmanaging.

I said I get it now.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Well, let’s just put it behind us, take a deep breath, and let CC do his thing tomorrow night.

  • pete

stupid move by girardi, but i’m still pissed at pettitte for throwing something over the plate to Guerero 1-2. That was fuentesian

    • SteveD Fla

Girardi should have never went out there in the middle of the at bat. Did you notice Petites face? He looked pissed. And Im pretty sure thats where Jorge was set up for the pitch. Inside I think.

  • adam

He has been quick with the hook the whole postseason.
why take out guys who are throwing strikes and getting outs

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

All the people crawling out of the woodwork to share with us exactly how badly they can’t handle a Yankees loss.

It’s probably a little too taxing on your mental capacities to read RAB and watch the game at the same time, huh?

People have every right to vent that way, but it’s just sad and a little depressing every time it happens.

    • scooter

I get the feeling it might be a short list of people with multiple logins, all spewing the same crap

    • JackC

True, but while it’s silly to think the Yanks would 11-0, it’s the manner in which the Yankees lost that sticks in people’s craws — much rather lose 11-0. True, this isn’t all Girardi’s fault — their #’s with RISP are shockingly bad — but Joe’s fingerprints are found around the neck of the corpse that is this game

      • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

I understand that. The problem is that the majority of these complaints come from people who have been silent all night, then as soon as Kendrick slides into home, they commence the complaining. That is their only contribution the whole game.

It’s like: GRRR WE LOST! I WILL NOW OPEN UP THE RAB GAME THREAD FOR THE FIRST TIME, THROW A TANTRUM, AND THEN TAKE A 2-HOUR ANGRY NAP.

    • Michael Kay

whoa whoa whoa, I may be ugly and hate filled but….

      • scooter

        Who but!

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

    On another Yankee site:

“Is it true that we have to win five??”

    Oh, jeez. Too funny.

  • http://twitter.com/hopjake Jake H

I have no problem with the pitching. The O did nothing with RISP and it seems like from posada’s hr we got no hits or walks.

  • Joe Girardi

    My B

  • MAMO

They’re in some deep shit now. A guy they can’t hit and CC on 3 days rest. I just hope the bats come out firing tomorrow; and CC pitching 7 innings of 3-4 ER…

    • http://inthemasses.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/mad-max-poster-1.jpg gxpanos

CC’s a big boy. Let’s give him a chance, huh?

He’s pitched on 3 days rest before, dont know if youve heard.

      • MAMO

I’m not putting him down. I’m hoping for 7 innings 3-4 ER – that’s not bad. I expect a quality start at least.

        • Mike Pop

If they are in deep shit, what are the Angels in?

  • pat

Yeaaa fire up the Trolls bring it fuckwads.

  • Moose Man 12

Girardi is a complete fucking disgrace.

WHAT A FUCKING MORON! DUDE, TAKE THAT STUPID GRAPH-BOOK YOU LOVE AND STICK IT UP YOUR ASS!!!!

This is NOT a fucking math test, you gotta go with your BEST pitchers in the moment, ACEVES FUCKING BLOWS!!!!!

Unreal, this is EXACTLY why he got his ass fired from Florida. Stupid stat geek whose more concnerned with fucking NUMBERS than his own EYES! This loss is 100% on him…Swisher and Melky, you are hereby pardoned.

p.s. Can you fire a Manager mid post-season????

    • Randy A.

Seriously? Alex Gonzalez is that you?

    • scooter

Can we NOT overreact to a loss? (or NOT troll the board?)

      Apparently not

    • Mike Pop

      ACEVES FUCKING BLOWS!!!!!

You can disagree with the move but don’t say Aceves blows. Come on, just not fair.

p.s. Can you stop commenting mid post-season??

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

wait, who won a NL manager of the year award in 2006? Damn i cant remember

      • Michael Kay

        Willie Randolph!

        • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

          Ha!

    • Accent Shallow

No, he got fired in FL because Loria is a twat.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      I’m not convinced this isn’t a parody.

  • Mike Pop

I thought Girardi undermanaged when he didn’t let Guzman hit for Swisher.

  • Jobamania

i didnt catch his answer for why marte to coke. did anyone catch it?
    marte threw 1 fucking pitch

    • Lanny

Well thats a nice example of OVER MANAGING.

      • Chris

Apparently overmanaging is making any move that Lanny disagrees with.

  • jjhammer31

I don’t like the move if it forces Gaudin in there earlier than he should be, but Aceves wasn’t going to get beat no matter what. Either now or in the next inning. They need to continue to get good starts and they’ll be very tough to beat. If they hit with RISP, they are a lock.

  • marc resnick

one last thought to alll the ace haters…. even if we scored the next innning.. guess who is closing out the game?

    • TheLastClown

Well, D-Rob only threw 11 pitches, I was thinking he could have thrown 2 innings.

  • Bill

Joe Girardi cost us that game. Pulling Mo for Cervelli was dumb, pulling robertson for aceves was dumber. He has been hurting us all yr but it finally caught up w. him. this could be a huge momentum swing, we better win game 4.

    • Pasqua

Mo for Cervelli was not dumb, unless you like the idea of no Rivera for Game 4, b/c that’s exactly the situation you’d find yourself in if Mo came pitched the 11th.

      • ansky

momentum only swings if the Halos win tomorrow. Which they will not. 2-1 means nothing. As much as you’d like to think so they were not going to sweep this team. so CC and AJ lock it down. but we need to his w/ RISP for realz.

        • ansky

          *hit*

  • AJ

Alright everyone, let’s take a step back from the ledge and calm down a bit. The Yankees didn’t have their A-game tonight. The bullpen pitched admirably, but you knew at some point going 0-for-8 with RISP (stat might be more, I’m not sure) was going to hurt this team. Andy still had a solid start, but the ball just wasn’t going the Yankees way tonight. I don’t think anyone should have had the expectation that this team would go 11-0 in the postseason. It’s one game. Remember the Angels series earlier in the season where the Yanks lost the first but won the next two to take the series? This team will rebound and play better.

So let’s all take a deep breath. The Yanks still hold a 2-1 series lead with their ace going tomorrow. Kazmir has pitched well against the Yankees, but I think the Yanks are due for a real break-out game this postseason.

    Tomorrow is another day.

    • JMK aka The Overshare

Thank you. I was getting tired of the LoHud vitriol in here. No one is happy with what transpired. Should Girardi have left K-Rob in? I think so, but that doesn’t really matter. The real issue here is the missed opportunities. We had them all game and that’s what did us in. This idea that Girardi has been hurting the team all year with his over-managing, I think, is a bit over-thought. You don’t win 103 games with a clueless manager. Managing is putting players in the best position to win. Girardi doesn’t play the game, the players do. While I think putting in a guy who pitches more to contact was a poor decision, it does not mean that he is a poor manager.

We’re up 2-1 and have our ace going tomorrow. We need to be more consistent offensively but going 11-0 wasn’t going to happen.

      • ansky

        agreed.

  • Dela G

    i’ll just say this

not having hinske is killing the yanks

    • Charlie

i wouldnt say killing, but pretty stupid to have guzman over him

    • Pasqua

Tonight was the first time I wished he was on the roster, so I wouldn’t say it’s killing them.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

I agree. Several times I wished we had him instead of Guzman.

    • Chris

I know. I can’t believe that the Yankees are down 0-3 because they don’t have Hinske.

      • ansky

i dont think it thats major but i dont see the reason for having a speed guy if no one can drive him in. I is he going to have to steal home? I’d rather have the extra bat.

  • mike jones

Should have let mo bat in the top of the 11th

    • Tom Zig

      why

      • TheLastClown

So he could pitch another inning?

      • Justin R

Because what they did didn’t work, get it!

If they let Mo bat and he strikes out meekly, the same people would be crying that they didn’t PH for him and that Cervelli would have hit a HR for sures!

        • mike jones

          i was being completely sarcastic

          • Justin R

            Touche Salesman.

Although, this is a tough thread to catch sarcasm in.

  • Moose Man 12

hahaha, Michael Kay just repeated exactly what I just said.

    • pat

not exactly something to gloat about. to back to the woodwork loser.

      • Lanny

Because you’re actually right. This loss in on the manager.

        • pat

Lanny you’re a tool shed who comes here to bitch and whine only when the Yankees are losing, don’t waste my time responding to anything I say because I think you’re a piece of garbage. Maybe I’m taking the internets too seriously but whatever, if you’re going to be a douche so am I.

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

It’s funny that you think that is a good thing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

      lol

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

That was the second stupidest move I’ve ever seen (cough Grady Little cough). Aceves was not pitching well, naving allowed a run yesterday. Robertson had been pitching great. He had gotten 2 quick outs. There was a limited history. Both were righthanded. Why switch pitchers?

    • dan

no reason just a brain cramp or he likes to see himself on tv.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Exactly. To top it off, Girardi’s answer, in the post-game press conference, for the move was totally stupid. He said “We have all the stats and we liked the matchup better” Incredible!!!!

      • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

There were like three at bats each. What a dumb move.

      • westcoastyanks

Girardi’s explanation is total bull. Fox ran the stats. Kendrick was 1-2 against Robertson, with a K and 2 RBI’s. Aceves had NEVER faced Kendrick. There is no way that is enough data to make a decision like that in the 11th inning, especially considering how good Robertson was throwing and how bad Aceves looked on Saturday night.

        • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

          Exactly right.

  • ShuutoHeat

Wait, where the fuck were some of you people when everything was going right with the game? Oh thats right, you people only come out to complain. When the Yankees win, you guys run around like a true Yankees fan.

I’m as pissed as anyone for losing this game. But shiet, I wasn’t spouting out shit when things are looking grim. We move forward and we believe in this team. That’s what fans do. Not abandon the fucking ship like every other fucking bandwagon fan.

Believe in this team, that is all there is. If not, you can go cheer for the other teams. Yankees don’t need some half ass fans that doubt every move. We lose, then we fucking lose. We win, then we fucking win. Accept the loss gracefully, fucking trolls.

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

      A-fucking-men

      • Lanny

You do realize most people here have lives and dont watch a playoff game and sit on a laptop at the same time right?

        • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

          Dude…

          • Mike Pop

You do realize most people here have lives and dont watch a playoff game and sit on a laptop at the same time right?

Yeah, but posting under MULTIPLE fucking names on a comment board. That’s SO MUCH BETTER. Plus, you do come around… wheen the Yankees blow the game.

        • Marcus

Sit on couch, watch TV = Have life.

Sit on couch, watch TV + lap top = Have no life.

          Makes sense.

          • Mike Pop

Posting under multiple names on a blog = Have life.

            Lanny/Bo/Sal/Grant logic

        • Justin R

But they sure were able to sprint to it and manically post right after. I am sure they rushed home from the bar and their harem of bitches to call out Girardi!

        • http://www.pinstripesplus.com theriverdog

what? Lanny what the shit are you talking about?

        • ShuutoHeat

I’m sure all the trolls that troll over RAB have lives.
Trolling over RAB is like stalking someone/something through the internet. Oh wait, that’s what trolls do. So yeah I’m sure trolls have lives.

          • JMK aka The Overshare

My stalking skills are much more refined than you give me credit for. Sheesh!

‘cept more than a few of the woodwork-ers aren’t exactly fans, if you get my drift

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Nice.

Still, this game sucked horribly. A win, I think it’s over. As it is, I think we’ll win, but still…

    • AJ

      Well put.

    • Dela G

      dude i’m here all game

i never leave unless i have class

      • ShuutoHeat

Dela G, you’re cool. Just sick of some people that jump in only to enjoy the misery of Yankee fans. Plus the ones that won’t believe in this team.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

I was here all day . . . long before I saw you show up. I am upset at a stupid move by Girardi to replace DRob with Aceves that might have cost us the game. Everyone on the YES Network, the F&^king Yankees own channel, are asking the same questions and complaining about the move as well.

Don’t tell me how to root for my team. I am a Yankee fan. I have a right to complain. If you don’t like it, too bad.

      • ShuutoHeat

I wasn’t referring to you bob. I saw you around on the post too. I was here all day, after running my errands early in the morning just for the game.

I was referring to all these people going ape shit that wasn’t even here earlier. Obviously they were either trolls or just people that think they are fans.

        • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Sorry – Just frustrated. I hate the trolls too.

          • ShuutoHeat

It’s cool dude, no need to apologize. Just wish the so called “fans” and trolls would just choke+rot.

          • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Especially when they screw up the Fan Confidence Poll by voting “1″ and “2″ for a 103 victory team that wins it’s firt five playoff games.

        • JMK aka The Overshare

In fairness, some could have been at LoHud and just jumped on here after the game to vent in another place. I doubt it, but it’s entirely possible.

          • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

You have a good heart JMK and certainly give folks the benefit of the doubt.

    • Babe’s Ghost

I disagreed with G’s moves, but I am not panicking.

Last time I checked it was best out of seven, we won our two at home, the Angels won the first of their three. As far as I can tell the pressure is on them. If they lose a single game at home they’ll be under tremendous pressure. We have home field advantage, look at our starters, we have CC twice more, we have AJ. Look at our hitters we have Jeter, Po, Tex and Arod. Look at our pen, we have Joba, Hughes and D-Rob, for Mo’s sake, we have Mo!
The only people shouting the sky is falling are the Lohud tards and the trolls. The Lohud tards you ignore. The only thing to tell a troll is “Back under the bridge with you.”

  • CapitalT

During the Catcher Preview (great job on those BTW), I wrote that it always seamed that Mathis got big hits against the Yankees.

Somebody came back with his pedestrian stats vs the Yankees.

Now I wish I had been wrong and not the tool who snidely commented

    • kunaldo

easy to get a big hit when the pitch is right down the middle, belt high…just sayin…

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

Guys, it’s a cool night. Let’s go for a walk, cool our heads, and then come home and pop in Sisqo CD.

  • Jobamania

oh and guzman probably could have caught that ball mathis hit

  • Lanny

If hes going to over manage like crazy why wasnt Guzman out in LF for defense?

  • Jobamania

the bottom line is that GIRARDI lost this game, not the New York Yankees.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Last I checked, Girardi was still a New York Yankee.

      • Pasqua

…and he didn’t throw that pitch, either.

        • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Also true – I am sure he told Jo Po and Andy to keep it out of the strike zone. Andy just made an unfortunate mistake over the plate.

  • MikeD

So was following on GameCast, which is difficult when certain moves are made. It reported that Cervelli was hitting for Damon, but that can’t be right. I’ve seen a post here that said he was hitting for Mo, but why was Mo hitting at all?

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Gardner ran for Matsui, Hairston PH’d for Gardner, Hairston went to left for Damon, so they lost the DH.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I’m going to say this again, in bold, caps, and in italics:

LET’S JUST PUT THIS ONE BEHIND US, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, AND LET CC DO HIS THING TOMORROW NIGHT.

    • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

I’d do the whole thing where I bold your comment so people can hear it again but, dude, you don’t need an echo.

      Well done.

      • Lanny

So we shouldnt be pissed off that our manager cost us a 3-0 lead?

        And whys that??

        • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

So the manager gave up the HR to Vladdie?

          • Chris

No, the manager gave up the ground ball to Kendrick. You know, the one that would have been an easy groundout to the pitcher if it were a foot to the left or an easy ground out to Cano if it were a foot to the right.

        • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Yes, be angry, but there’s plenty of blame to go around.

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Don’t worry, dude; I’m gonna keep saying it all night.

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

I love the fact that so many regular RABers are SO POSITIVE. But I think it’s okay to be frustrated at a really bad move by Manager Joe tonight and to vent a little.

Do I think we will still win this series? YES! Do I think we have the upper hand? WITHOUT A DOUBT!!

Am I still frustrated about HOW we lost tonight? YES!! If I can’t express it here, then where do you recommend I vent?

      • Pasqua

This. I feel the same way.

        • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

Pasqua. I like the way you think. Thank you for always being a voice of reason here on RAB.

          • Pasqua

You are a gentleman and a scholar, Mr. Stone.

  • JackC

It’s only one game, my fellow Yankee fans. But God, A) Anaheim is a house of horrors B) A surprisingly high # of Yanks aren’t hitting a LICK and C) The more you think about Girardi’s move, the more inexplicable it becomes.

    Still, let’s get ‘em tomorrow.

    • Pasqua

I feel the same. The only way I see a problem arising is if the offense starts to press.

  • DreDog

Not worried. CC twice, AJ & Andy for two wins. Done.

    • pat

      My man.

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I think I speak for everybody when I say:

    I hate Anaheim.

  • dan

just because were bitching dos’t mean were not loyal .My fear is he dosn’t get it and will do the same shit again next game

    • http://www.stonerh1@aol.com Bob Stone

      EXACTLY!!!

You can’t give away wins to a team a good as the Angels.

  • Pasqua

I will say this: it is after games like these that I realize how scarred I was by the 2004 series against the Sox. As irrational as it might be, I find myself flashing back to it in the tight spots now and remembering that sickening feeling as each game came and went.

Could that be a part of the emotional reaction? And does anybody relate to this?

PLEASE SAY YOU DO! I DON’T WANT TO BE ALONE!

    [Sobs quietly into his pillow.]

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

It’s like I’m the victim of some fearsome attack and every time something bad happens I keep flashing back and panicking.

    • MAMO

      Yes… :(

    • putt

I’m with you, sometimes. Today, I started getting those feelings when Abreu drew the 2 out walk in front of Vlad. It was like that game 4 walkoff to Ortiz; the inch they needed to push the door back open.

I felt a lot better after the Posada HR tho. I guess those feelings come and go, I just try to stay as positive as possible.

I will say this tho; I really don’t feel like the Yanks can be beat in the Bronx. Thank Mo for homefield throughout!

  • http://chefrob rob

need cc and aj to get it done. thats why they’re here…maybe tex can find his bat??

    dammit joe

  • westcoastyanks

Girardi’s tendency to overmanage has been fodder for debate all season, but the decision he made tonight was decried by everyone watching the minute it happened and frankly defies all rational explanation. Robertson just showed everyone that he has the control, poise and “stuff” to get out the Angels biggest offensive threat, and yet he gets pulled for a junkballing long reliever who looked bad in his last appearance only 36 hours ago? Girardi made this decision based, we can only assume, on all of 2 at bats worth of data (which were inconclusive, even if you are willing to discount the small sample size). This is absolutely a fireable offense. There is obviously no guarantee that the Yankees win the game if Robertson isn’t pulled, but Girardi’s move put his team in a worse position without any provocation — if the Angels make a series out of this, the Yankees need to seriously look at bringing in a steady hand to man the bench.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Um, they didn’t lose the series yet. How is that a fireable offense?

    • TheLastClown

      A “fireable offense?”

You couched yourself in a thin cloak of sanity up until that.

It was a mistake, a dumb move. Aceves pitched great for us at at times this year, maybe Girardi was blinded by loyalty.

If bringing in D-Rob with the bases loaded against the Twins backfired, he’d be castigated for that.

If something was perfect 100% of the time, it’d be no fun to watch.

      /Wabi-Sabi’d

      • westcoastyanks

How is a dumb move in the 11th inning of an LCS game NOT a firable offense? This wasn’t an arguable move that just didn’t work out – I agree that those happen, it’s part of the fun of the game – this was a mental error in a pressure moment that was preventable. Were it a player that made this error, the proper decision would be to not put them in that position again. How is it not the same for the manager?

        • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

          Because we’re winning the series.

          • westcoastyanks

Let me rephrase — do you have confidence in Girardi managing late-game situations going forward? Because its not just Girardi making the move that is frightening, its that he actually thinks he was doing the right thing. If he can’t see that ignoring glaringly obvious on-field performance in favor of thinly-supported statistical history is the wrong way to go, then he absolutely needs to be relieved of his duties in the off-season.

    • Count Zero

I don’t know about a “fireable offense” but there’s no denying that was a bonehead move in a long string of them tonight. He was definitely over-managing, and all it did was get him further and further behind the 8 ball. I can only hope he didn’t tell Gardner to run on that 1-1 pitch when everyone in creation knew a pitchout was coming.

    • westcoastyanks

I don’t buy the “it’s only one game” argument. The Angels are absolutely good enough to win 3 of the next 5 and take this series. Heck, they probably should have won Game 2 and actually be ahead in the series right now. Now the already struggling Yankee offense goes up against a pitcher that is a very tough matchup for them (Kazmir) with the Angels best big game pitcher following right behind him (Lackey). Sabbathia and Burnett could shine and still lose both those games, at which point the Yankees are returning to the Bronx in do-or-die mode and this “one game” is looking huge.

  • Tom Zig

the 1998 yankees lost 2 games in the postseason

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

Yeah, only because Joe Torre was stupid.

    • ashish

Lol. I was wondering when we were going to lose the first game. Now if you would have told me before the series started that the Yanks would be up 2-1 before Game 4, I would’ve signed up for that in a heartbeat. Still don’t like the Aceves for D-Rob move but what’s done is done. Go CC and go Yanks!!!!

    • Dan

Imagine what this place would’ve been like after ALCS Game 2 that year.

  • Michael Kay

meh its how these things go, going up 3-0 would have been nice against a team that we as fans get a little nervous playing, but on the bright side this time we aren’t trying to calm ourselves with “Well if we can get anything out of Mussina we can have Wang go in a must win.”

I mean I watched Randy Johnson pitch an absolute turd against these guys and fall back on “Well hopefully Chacon can do the job” to make myself feel better. Its night and day when Sabathia is waiting for his turn.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

And, let’s make sure we spread some blame around here:

    1. Girardi’s move was definitely ill-advised and puzzling. He definitely deserves a good share of the blame.
    2. Aceves made bad pitches to a bad hitter and he paid for it. He deserves some of the blame too.

    And, again, for emphasis:

Let’s just put it behind us, take a deep breath, and let CC do his thing tomorrow night.

    • Pasqua

But what if CC is bad? AGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

      • scooter

        Heh… nice

Apologies to the regs – sorry if the trolls got to me. Was listening to the game on the bus, got home, saw the game from Mo time forward. It’ll all be good with CC. Peace out

      • Babe’s Ghost

back under the bridge with you!

    • Tom Zig

We wouldn’t be in this situation if the offense did a little hitting with RISP. Mistakes have been made and we finally paid for them.

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Yep, that’s a very logical conclusion as well. It takes a whole team to both win and lose a game.

      • Pasqua

Luckily there is ample time to atone. That’s how I’m comforting myself.

  • Jobamania

    Lets recap
Go 0-11ty with RISP, hit 4 solo homers. yes it was ugly but we did enough to win the game or atleast give us another chance to win
Bring in Marte to face figgins(1 pitch fly out)
Next batter, bring in Coke to face Abreu(double, but hes and idiot and overruns and gets out)
Bring in hairston for his arm(fine but we lost the DH)
Bring in robertson to get 2 outs on 11 pitches
Bring in aceves(rofl) who gets clobbered and loses game

    • Jobamania

on this note, lets CLOBBER KAZMIR TOMORROW SO WE DONT GIVE GIRARDI A CHANCE TO LOSE IT FOR US

      • Lanny

The only good/smart move he made was bringing Mo in.

        • Mike Pop

and enough moves to make us 103-59 in the regular season and 5-1 in the playoffs.

          but still, fuck that guy.

    • dan

      sounds about right

  • Accent Shallow

As baffling as pulling Robertson was, I’m not particularly thrilled with Pettitte for the bomb to Vlad, or the offense for doing nothing when someone was on base. Or Joba for giving up rockets to shitty hitters.

Still, with CC going tomorrow, I’m not in panic mode just yet.

  • scott

that was terrible over managing. someone please rationalize it for me so i can sleep tonight. someone needs to get a hit with runner in scoring position. it might also help if swish or melk could hit a slider. this game was doomed the second vlad hit the HR. i thought a righty should have been up for him, but that might have been over managinf

    • Pasqua

Considering the Abreu miscue on the bases and the whole getting-out-of-the-inning-with-1st-and-3rd-and-nobody-out thing, to say that the game was doomed on the Vlad HR makes you quite a prognosticator.

My point is, the Yanks had ample opportunities to pull it out after that HR and didn’t take advantage of it.

    • Jobamania

not really, andy didnt have much all night

he was in the “battle” mode which frankly i’m annoyed to hell with. when people say he battled through is when he sucks. But girardi has been quick to hook andy all year, why not hook him then? He’s all over with his decisions

    • Larryf

We need to get rid of that binder that Joe looks at or have Eiland or Pena look at it and then lie to Joe! We got LaRussa’ed tonight for sure.
      Analysis paralysis……

      • Pasqua

The weird thing is, watching the replay, when Girardi goes to the binder, he actually doesn’t look at ANYTHING. He just opens to the first page, flips it, and then closes the book. I really think he just “gutted” that decision…unfortunately.

    • Chris

Aceves gave up a seeing eye ground ball single to Kendrick. It’s not like the ball was crushed. A foot to the left or right and that’s an out that ends the inning.

      • Jobamania

and girardi would have dodged another bullet he fired by himself
but nope, his STUPID decision finally came back to bite him int he ass, and i’m glad it did. maybe it will be a wake up call. when a pitcher is in his groove, you dont remove him to go to a coin flip pitch to contact long reliever.

aceves shouldnt even be on this roster, why would you want 2 long relievers? bring on bruney

  • marc resnick

joe torre let jeff weaver pitch before mo rivera.

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

More concerning is that our offense basically shut down. We got to get these guys going or we’ll just keep letting the Angels back into these games.

BTW, anybody else pissed at Francesa crowning this team already?

  • Lanny

As much as Girardi is to blame you have to put just as much on Swisher for leaving a small village on base with less than 2 outs.

And I’ll be shocked if Melky starts tomorrow. His at bats have been 2008 Melky-esque.

    • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

He was 3-8 with 2 walks coming into today but hey.. why look at facts?

  • http://twitter.com/hopjake Jake H

Why this lose hurts I don’t think the bottom of the lineup and Tex are going to suck it up at the plate.

  • Jobamania

    Yankee hitters vs Scott Kazmir
    http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/h3BUb

Lets hope Teix finds his way tomorrow and Swisher somehow finds his patience back

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

We all know it, let’s stop beating around the bush.

Girardi is teh moron and the only chance the Yankees have of winning is if we get Lanny, Bo or sal to manage this team.

    • scooter

Why not Lanny, Bo AND Sal – a three-headed manager if you will… Oh WAI-

    • Babe’s Ghost

      ietc

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

Let’s call Cash and set it up.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

Don’t forget Brazilian Yankee. He won’t be PATHETIC like Girardi is.

  • dan

If we keep swinginng at any off speed pitch in the dirt we will not knock in runners

    • Pasqua

But the fact is, some of those Angels throw pretty mean off-speed stuff. Curveballs on 3-2 counts? I can’t really kill the Yanks for being off balance. Now, the complete lack of hitting in the latter half of the game…that’s another story.

      • Larryf

Bulger (I think) also threw a 3-1 curveball to Posada for a strike (taken of course) before the 3-2 curve strikeout which was a ball inside. You gotta admire that confidence in your curve…

  • Ivan

Guys, the yanks are still up in this series with CC pitching tomorrow. Calm down. Were not gonn win em all. Just take a chill pill. The yankees have this series.

    • Jobamania

i really don’t understand people that use this excuse. Sure we won’t win them all, but lets not mail in winnable games because of stupid decisions.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

NO! STOP MAKING EXCUSES!! IF WE DON’T WIN EVERY POST SEASON GAME THEN GIRARDI SHOULD BE FIRED, CASHMAN SHOULD BE FIRED, AND MIKE AXISA SHOULD BE FIRED!!!

                  YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!!!

  • Dorian

The next time any of you question Girardi playing small ball in June, remember this game. Twice we had two on with less than two outs and he let guys swing. 1st and 2nd nobody out in the 4th and the inning goes as follows:

Matsui walk, Posada single, Cano fielder’s choice (Matsui moves to third), Swish K’s (as is his custom), and Melky grounds out to end the inning.

Fast Forward to the Top of the 8th after the Posada homer with 1 out: Cano singles, Swisher walks, Melky K’s (As is his custom), and The Captain grounds out. This game goes on Melky and Swish just as much as Girardi.

    • kunaldo

are you suggested that swisher should have bunted??

      • Dorian

Absolutely not. I am a believer in not giving up outs but I don’t think that assuring yourself runs is necessarily the skid mark on the underpants of society either. When runs are presented to you, you take them. In whatever fashion you can get them. Just because something isn’t executed doesn’t make it a bad decision. If Cano gets a bunt down in the 4th, we have another run.

All I am saying is that this is an example of when small ball might be able to help and isn’t the worst thing in the world. Don’t be so narrow minded to think that bunting is awful all the time.

        • kunaldo

Bunting isnt awful all the time…just most of the time. Swisher simply did not get the job done(just had to get a fly ball). It really sucks, but our team is just not clicking on offense(sans HRs)

But I’m not sure where you’re suggesting small ball in the situations cited…

  • http://dinosaursneverexisted.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/melky.jpg Drew

This is pathetic. If we can’t sweep the Angels how can we expect to beat the Phillies/Dodgers?

    We should just forfeit.

        Everyone knows that.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

I’ sure the Yankees have talked it over and are debating as we speak whether Seppuku is in the best interests of the team.

  • Mike Pop

If he overmanages so much, so be it. It worked for us on Saturday. Worked for us throughout the postseason. He’s 5-6. I’ll take that any day. The move he made didn’t work out. I wanted to keep D-Rob in there, but so be it.

Nobody is bitching that he managed a great game on Saturday to get the Yankees a key win.

Jesus people. So soon you forget. It’s kind of sad.

  • Larryf

On a positive note-Hughes threw a nasty first pitch 12:6 curveball strike. Oh well-trying to feel good about something…

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Hughes’ curveball was diiiiiiiiiiiirty tonight.

    • Pasqua

I was proud of Robertson for coming back on Morales from down 3-1 in the count! And then he was handsomely rewarded when Girardi…

      Shit, nevermind.

  • Stadium Garlic Fries

I think if Andy gets Guerraro in 6th, Yankees come out unscathed..but it happens..thats why the series is seven game and we still have four left to win two more..

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Definitely.

  • Joseph M

Disgraceful. Girardi could bungle this series away, Cashman needs to “counsel” Joe on the need to let the talent win or lose the series on their own. The Yankees are lucky, Girardi could have cost them the Saturday night game. There were so many bad decisions in this game that it’s too frightening to review, I like Joe, I was in favor of hiring him but he has to learn he is the biggest thing standing in the way of the Yankees and a trip to the World Series.

  • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

You know who’s REALLY to blame for this loss? It’s not Girardi, it’s not Joba and it’s not Nick Swisher.

    Two words. Joe Pawlikowski.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

      Damn that scoundrel.

      • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ The Artist

        You have no idea.

  • Dontchaknow

They needed this win, because Kazmir has owned them. Girardi basically decided that he wanted the series tied 2 – 2. Cant wait for tomorrow when Kazmir walks a bunch of guys in Front of Cano, so he can promptly hit into a double play and ruin another inning.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

That doesn’t really sound like “owning.”

  • thurdonpaul

lets go out and score at least 12 runs tomorrow, CC goes 7 scoreless, and all will be forgotten

  • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster)

    Consider this guys…

Supposedly we “gave this game to the Angels, and they could still barely pull it out after 12 innings. Pretty amazing.
