ALCS Game Three Spillover Thread V

Categories : Game Threads, Playoffs

  1. Accent Shallow says:

  2. Drew says:

You play to win the game!

    • frank says:

Joe Girardi blew this game. He has over managed every game in these playoffs but this is the first game that came back to bite him in the ass. He is not a post season manager. Joe Torre would never have made these decisions. Girardi will be the only reason why the Yankees don’t win the World Series this year.

  3. Shut ‘em down again, Phil.

  4. Marc says:

I need this game to end so I can go to work! Cmon Yanks!

  5. Jeff Mathis? Seriously?

  6. Mike Pop says:

Damn. Jeff Mathis does get big hits.

  7. Accent Shallow says:

    Doubles to terrible hitters?

    Not cool, Phil.

  8. Handtius says:

More Hughes…how does this back up catcher always hit doubles?

  9. Drew says:

Gotta go to Mo’s… Modells! yeahh

  10. Salty Buggah says:

    Damnit. Put Mo in?

  11. Well, here comes the sac bunt.

  12. Patrick says:

I feel like I’m watching the Jets in a tie game after they’ve missed field goals all day. Of course, that’s where the comparison between the two teams stops.

  13. jim says:

    ya, we’re gonna lose

  14. Brian says:

    Please get out of this!

  15. JackC says:

I’m not an expert, but I think that’s not good

  16. Brazilian Yankee says:

Let’s lose this game with our best pitcher still avaiable.

  17. Mac says:

Sandman in. Keep this tied for another inning.

  18. Salty Buggah says:

Please Mo. PUHLEEEASE let Mo get out of this unscathed.

  19. Mike bk says:

i hate when yankee manager do this…if you were going to bring mo in with guys on and 0 out just put him to start the inning.

  20. Dela G says:

    joe G aint fuckin around

  21. Jackson says:

Sac bunt, ground out to the pitcher, K. Get it done.

  22. AdamParker says:

Why weren’t the outfields playing no doubles defense??

  23. kunaldo says:

i was worried for a second that girardi would be married to the save rule…cmon mo, be the god that you are

  24. Hugh Jassman says:

Mo in with men on = loss.

  25. Mike Pop says:

    This doesn’t look good.

  26. Ivan says:

Phil, your killing me. Punto, now Mathis. Ugh.

Oh well, Gotta go to Mo.

  27. Hova says:

    In Mo we trust…

  28. ansky says:

I cant get those two innings w/ men on 1st and 3rd out of my head. Swish really shit the bed on that.

  29. Jake H says:

I don’t understand this move unless this move.

  30. marc resnick says:

def the right move and one torre would never make

  31. AJ says:

Let’s go Mo. If I want anyone in during a huge pressure situation, I want Mo.

  32. Babe's Ghost says:

    In Mo we trust

  33. ShuutoHeat says:

Gotta love the negativity from some people tonight.

So when something bad happens, it is “YOUR YANKEES”. But when something good happens, it is “OUR YANKEES”.

If we lose, then we lose. You gotta stand by your team, if you don’t who will? A stanking Boston fan?

  34. danny says:

i know i shouldnt be nervous, but im nervous.

  35. mustang says:

all I done for the last 2 weeks is watch baseball and do things to make it up to my wife for watching baseball

  36. Mike Pop says:

Trolls make me a sad panda.

  37. Accent Shallow says:

So Scioscia pulls Napoli for a weaker hitter, and it’s led so far to the Angels taking the lead, and now a leadoff double that could win the game.

    Bad decisions that work. Oy.

  38. Brazilian Yankee says:

Cashman needs to visit this team again.

  39. Doug says:

You can’t bunt on the cutter.

  40. Dela G says:

  41. Doug says:

    This is trouble.

  42. Mike Pop says:

    Wow. We had him too.

  43. Fucking perfect back up, Johnny. Wow.

  44. AJ says:

Ugh. Not a good error there. But the K and double play are still intact. It was a good idea, but just bad execution.

  45. Salty Buggah says:

Fuck. A good throw gets him there, Mo.

  46. Brazilian Yankee says:

Come the fuck on Mo. I wouldn’t expect that from you.

  47. Reggie C. says:

    Aw fuck.

This will require some real Mo magic to get out of this one.

  48. Jackson says:

    Dammit, he had him dead

  49. Mike bk says:

    no need to rush there.

  50. Hugh Jassman says:

    Dumb play.

  51. Drew says:

great job by Damon. Load the bases??/????

  52. ShuutoHeat says:

I’m more worried about Mo, did he trip? Is he okay?

  53. Doug says:

Mo is going to bear down and strike out the side here. Watch.

  54. Hova says:

The ghost of Nick Adenhart is starting to appear. I’m officially terrified.

  55. The Artist says:

It will be a miracle if we get out of this.

  56. Babe's Ghost says:

    Three strike outs

  57. Reggie C. says:

any number of ways can keep Mathis from scoring. game not over.

  58. Drew says:

Woof I’m fucking dieing here. Please Mo pleasE1!!!

  59. Dela G says:

    ok one out

  60. Salty Buggah says:

    OK, IBB then DP.

  61. Ivan says:

    God I love u Tex.

  62. AJ says:

Alright, c’mon Mo. You can do this. Two more outs.

  63. ShuutoHeat says:

WOW TEX!!!! Okay, whoever is going to shit on Tex needs to remind themselves of all the plays he made today.

  64. Mac says:

load them now, pitch to tori

  65. Doug says:

MORE defense from Tex. That’s like 3 XBH’s he’s saved today.

  66. Jackson says:

    Once again, Teixeira is ridiculous.

  67. Okay, okay.

Let’s do it, Mo. Let’s do it.

  68. Accent Shallow says:

    Woo, Tex.

I think it’s game over if Mathis goes.

  69. mustang says:

    MY GOD !!!!!

  70. Dela G says:

you have to load the bases here

  71. danny says:

    teix is the fucking man

  72. Handtius says:

  73. Babe's Ghost says:

now I’ve seen everything… Mo giving up an intentional walk?

  74. The Artist says:

Mo kills lefties, but you have to do this. Sets up the DP at any bag.

  75. Mike bk says:

in on the corners, back up the middle?

  76. pat says:

    FUckin hate away games.

  77. Babe's Ghost says:

Dave Eiland, “OK here’s the plan. Mo strikes him out.”

  78. Jackson says:

Wow, really shitting on Damon’s arm here huh.

  79. Mac says:

johnny always looks happy, what pills is he on?

  80. Handtius says:

    interesting move…

  81. slappy white says:

this means Mo bats third for us WHEN we bat

  82. Ivan says:

    Lets go Mo.

  83. Eirias says:

Seriously, what would Dave Eiland be telling Mo.

  84. Dela G says:

alright mo, you have to focus

  85. Accent Shallow says:

Alright Mo, nowhere to put him, so do your thing.

  86. Salty Buggah says:

Cmon Mo, dont walk em in.

  87. SmittDogg says:

    lets go mo

  88. Yeesh. Mo’s gonna have to wiggle out of this one.

  89. Handtius says:

    come on mo….come on.

  90. Accent Shallow says:

One more strike and we can almost relax.

  91. Mac says:

    phew…..1 more

  92. Reggie C. says:

    Beautiful execution.

    1. More. OUT.

  93. SmittDogg says:

    Cmon mo. One more buddy.

  94. Salty Buggah says:

One more Mo. Don’t fall into the 2-out runs crap.

  95. Riddering says:

We are so lucky to have Tex.

  96. Hyper ventilating now.

  97. Drew says:

If it’s your thing. Say your prayers, boys.

    One more.

  98. Mike bk says:

i think in these situations our pitchers put some sort of magnet on Teix.

  99. pat says:

Beating a dead horse but Giambi would have lost this game innings ago.

  100. Ivan says:

Iight one more. The last out is always the toughest no matter the hitter for some reason.

  101. Handtius says:

We got this we got it.

  102. Accent Shallow says:

Vlad. Mariano. Bases loaded. Tie game. Extra innings.

  103. The Artist says:

Ok, 2 outs. We have a shot.

    BTW-What a fucking game.

  104. Dave G says:

C’mon MO. Get us out of this

  105. SmittDogg says:

you can do this mo, lets get this.

  106. Accent Shallow says:

Buck talking about walks here? Zero chance he walks Vlad.

  107. Marc says:

    Holy crap! Hell yeah!@

  108. Jackson says:

And that is why Mariano Rivera is Mariano Rivera.

  109. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Thank God for Mo.

  110. Mike bk says:

    Teixy sexy.

  111. Hugh Jassman says:

  112. Handtius says:

    I”S KNEWS IT!!!!!

  113. Salty Buggah says:

  114. The Artist says:

    The Lord performs another miracle.

  115. Jake H says:

Got to win it this inning now.

  116. Joey says:

    All praise Mo, amen

  118. mustang says:

    This fucking Crazy now

  119. E-ROC says:

Sucks to be an Angel’s fan

  120. Reggie C. says:

  121. Frigidevil says:

    Thanks be to Mo

  122. Babe's Ghost says:

    Eat it doubters!!!!!

  123. Ivan says:

  124. slappy white says:

  125. Doug says:

I’m hyperventilating and incoherent and the same time. Mo is our salvation.

  126. Riddering says:

I’m pulling a 2003 Game 7 Mariano post-Boone HR. on the floor right now.

  127. e mills says:

Just for Men purchase is in my future

  128. Drew says:

    Mo appreciation thread now plz.

  129. YankeeScribe says:

Wow! Just wow! Atleast Tex isn’t slumping on defense

  130. AdamParker says:

Mo, MVP of Baseball! Tex, best 1B evah!

  131. NYQ says:

    LETS F*****G GO!!!!!!

  132. ShuutoHeat says:

People gotta stop shitting on Tex, everything he has done in this game defensively all then makes up for his lack luster plate appearances. If it wasn’t for Tex, the game would’ve ended ALREADY.

  133. JobaWockeeZ says:

STFU trolls. And you can GTFO while you’re at it.

    • ShuutoHeat says:

Fucking trolls and haters and bandwagon fans have been dotting this place for a bit. When we win, all the people abandoning ship can go suck on it.

  134. Mike Axisa says:

The greatest of all time. ALL TIME.

  135. wilcymoore says:

Hey, can Teixeira get Game MVP even if he makes out every time he comes up?

  136. SF Yanks says:

Holy crap, I can’t believe we got through that. I mean, I know it’s Mo and all… simply amazing. Now, step on their fucking throats!

  137. SmittDogg says:

    The Cardiayankees ride again

  138. J says:

    he is seriously a genius.

  139. Mike Pop says:

    Fuck the haters, son!

  140. Keanu Reeves says:

In Mo I trust. That’s just incredible.

  141. Eirias says:

Do you think Mo has paid for a drink in the last decade?

  142. baravelli says:

Okay, this is interesting: Mo’s now batting in Damon’s spot. If Melky/Jeter somehow score a run between them, does Mo bat?

  143. Hugh Jassman says:

Mo, grant me the serenity …

  144. Tom Zig says:

    We can do this

  145. Dela G says:

    oh my god

    i can’t believe what i just saw

  146. YankeeScribe says:

We would have lost this game if Giambi was playing first base…

  147. So we should start building an actual church devoted to Mo, like, yesterday.

  148. . says:

  149. ansky says:

oh my god….i mean oh my MO

  150. slappy white says:

WHEN Jeter homers….MO gets to bat

  151. Jackson says:

Rivera is up 3rd this inning, but I think he might be a better hitter than the 3 guys on the bench who can pinch hit.

  152. Mike Pop says:

    Game MVP – Mo.

  153. Alright, let’s tag this pigeon looking mother fucker now.

  154. Handtius says:

    It’s over. we got it.

  155. Bob Stone says:

Unbelievable! Mariano for the walk off!

  156. Drew says:

All of ya’ll bitching about Teix earlier.

  157. John Duci says:

Mo’s gunna hit a go ahead hr watch

  158. Mike Pop says:

Who hits in the 2 spot? You gotta leave Mo in.

  159. slappy white says:

    Is Santana Spanish- Amish?

  160. A-Rod Fan says:

  161. Brazilian Yankee says:

It’s hard to believe a team with unlimited payroll has Melky Cabrera as their CF.

  162. Dela G says:

    leave mariano in the game

  163. Hova says:

God damn it. Some of these other guys have to step up (Tex, Swish, Melky).

  164. Ivan says:

    Lets go offense.

  165. Dela G says:

fuck, i thought jeter hit that one out

  166. ansky says:

They need to come up with a new name…because Closer doesnt cut it. All praise be to Mo!

  167. J says:

    no mo’ mo

  168. Accent Shallow says:

Thought Torii was gonna screw that up.

Well, Cervelli, time to do something useful. Remember that time in Atlanta?

  169. Doug says:

    Frankie pinch-hitting for Mo. Crud.

  170. Brian says:

    Give us the lead Cervelli!

  171. Accent Shallow says:

Sure, Buck, don’t mention his RBI walk!

  172. Goddammit. Right to him.

Frankie…just get on to get to Tex and Alex.

  173. Babe's Ghost says:

    this i would not do….

  174. Bob Stone says:

I wanted to see Mo hit. I know it’s stupid, but it would have been fun.

  175. Riddering says:

Lift us up where we belong.

  176. Oh just wear that, Frankie!

  177. Keanu Reeves says:

    WEAR IT!

  178. The Artist says:

A bit surprising, but that tells me he wants to save Mo for tomorrow.

  179. Marc says:

    What is Mo’s batting average?

  180. Mike Pop says:

    I’m still overjoyed about Mo.

  181. Dela G says:

    oh jesus

    this sucks losing the DH

  182. Joey says:

    That was weak…

    Let’s go K-Rob!

  183. helix says:

Why does Mo have to hit anyhow? Wrong league?

  184. Okay. That was a putrid swing. Why the hell have they looked so bad on breaking balls today? Jesus.

    Do it, Dave.

  185. J says:

If they bring in Lackey he won’t pitch a game 5? Saunders on 4 days rest perhaps????

  186. Mike Pop says:

I would of let CC hit.

    kind of joking.

  187. Drew says:

    Aight fellas.

I’d like a slightly less stressful bottom inning plz!

  188. Accent Shallow says:

Heart of the order against Robertson? Eek. Of course, if he can survive, it’s Tex, A-Rod, and . . . Hairston.

  189. Sam P. says:

That was a pathetic 1-2-3 inning. Santana breezed. Come on K-Rob! Keep it going.

  190. Bob Stone says:

We have a relatively week hitting line-up in there right now – Cervelli, Gardner, Hairston

  191. Mike bk says:

d-rob for what 2 at the most? can AJ go 1 today? or is it up to Gaudin after D-rob?

  192. vin says:

Time for Robertson to give up a lead-off double and wiggle his way out of it?

  193. SmittDogg says:

Ok Robertson, lets make quick work of em… If need be, I’d like to see DRob get next inning as well

  194. Kevin says:

Let it be said that despite Tex’s struggles at the plate, his defense has been phenomenal.

  195. Eirias says:

    Ninja Assassin. Lol.

  196. AJ says:

    Alright D-Rob, let’s go 1-2-3.

Then can we have some offense?

  197. Mike Pop says:

    Ryan Howard – unbelievable.

  198. ansky says:

I wonder at what point in the series, our offense will show up

  199. Ivan says:

This game is taking 3 years off my life rite now.

  200. PaulF says:

Its going to be really hard to score with what the lineup is now.
A Tex or Posada shot seems like our only chance, since they’ll just walk Alex.

  201. Salty Buggah says:

Let’s go K-Rob, get another win.

  202. Dela G says:

good thing they still have ace and gaudin left

  203. Handtius says:

    D-Rob on it…

PS. So can we officially put Brazilian Yankee on the “Troll” list? His comments are worse then Lanny’s.

  204. Yanks21 says:

Get thorugh this inning… we got the big boys coming

  205. Keanu Reeves says:

    I love watching DRob pitch.

  206. Babe's Ghost says:

I think it would have been better to have Mo bat and increase the likelihood of getting through this innning to Tex/Arod/Hairston/Cano and have another inning of D-Rob over the marginal benefit of Cervelli hitting. It’s not like bringing Po off the bench.

  207. Salty Buggah says:

I hope Howard goes cold when/if we face him.

  208. The Artist says:

We have D-Rob, Aceves, and Chad Gaudin left in the bullpen. All of whom can give us multiple innings.

And the best manager in baseball is warming up his Game 5 starter.

  209. Accent Shallow says:

Morales. Eek. Here’s hoping that mound conference is better than the previous one facing a big hitter.

  210. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Great umpiring as usual.

  211. baravelli says:

Do people like that move to lift Damon for defense in the middle of that inning? It makes things hairy with the lineup, but I think it was the right thing to do in that spot, especially considering Damon’s arm.

  212. This ump is definitely generous when the batter is ahead.

  213. Mike bk says:

if he throws the curve he gets him.

  214. Keanu Reeves says:

Strike two was a better pitch than ball three.

  215. Accent Shallow says:

Out of the first five fastballs to Morales, four were practically in the same spot. Nicely done.

    Kendrick terrifies me.

  216. Why the fuck is Robertson coming out?

  217. Brazilian Yankee says:

Really? Robertson can only face 2 hitters?

  218. Reggie C. says:

  219. Salty Buggah says:

WTF? Leave K-Rob in. No me gusta.

    • scooter says:

      Can’t imagine there’s a history between Kendrick and K-Rob – is there?

My guess – Girardi wants to throw Kendrick breaking stuff only

  220. AJ says:

Wasting away the bullpen Joe. I think D-Rob can do the job.

  221. pat says:

HAHAHAHA they found a way to get Kei Igawa in.. WOW really curious move here Joe.

  222. Mike says:

    wtf. why take robertson out

  223. Jackson says:

You know, I never really question Girardi, but I don’t get this move.

  224. james says:

why the hell are we taking Robertson out?! Over managing!

  225. NYTraveller says:

Kendrick must have good numbers v DRob or terrible ones v Ace

  226. Ivan says:

    McCarver, shut up.

    Why take out D-Rob?

  227. Jake H says:

Saving D Rob for tomorrow there?

  228. Accent Shallow says:

Not 100% crazy about this move. Anyone have any rationale? Aceves is crafty, and Robertson isn’t?

    • Keanu Reeves says:

The only thing I can possibly come up with is that Ace is a groundball guy and Kendrick has been hitting the ball in the air.

But that’s all I got and I don’t totally buy it.

    • AJ says:

On the radio they’re saying that because D-Rob throws fastballs and sliders he can be more predicatable, but Aceves has too many pitchers for a batter to key in on. I don’t necessarily agree with that, but let’s also remember that D-Rob had to miss time with an elbow injury at the end of the year.

  229. Handtius says:

OK, I don’t complain about Joe G’s moves, but I don’t understand this one. Explain?

  230. Mike Pop says:

Don’t like this move – but I trust Joe G.

  231. danny says:

  232. Brian says:

Not a fan of this move…let’s hope Joe is right. Go Yankees!

  233. Christopher says:

Girardi seems determined to get Gaudin in a game at some time lol

  234. Babe's Ghost says:

Girardi is managing like he thinks it’s going to be a seven game series… I’m not sure that’s a good thing

  235. Mike Pop says:

    Maybe concerns about the shoulder?

  236. Eirias says:

What is the general mood here on infanticide when it involves the eTrade baby?

  237. SF Yanks says:

Alright those smarter than me… What’s the benefit to bringing in Aceves now when Robertson was doing just fine? Save him for tomorrow?? I would have loved to stuck with David, but I’m sure Joe knows a little more than I do.

  238. Bob Stone says:

Well it seems universal here at RAB – We all hate this move.

  239. Lanny says:

LaRussa Jr is at it again.

  240. pat says:

Kendrick never faced Aceves and is 1/2 with 2 rbi vs K-rob.

  241. Salty Buggah says:

Got it. K-Rob threw 33 pitches in game 2.

  242. I don’t get this at all.

  243. Yanks21 says:

He must be saving these guys for tomorrow too..

They dont expect CC to go 7/8 Innings

Not sure why ACE scares me here.

  244. pat says:

Eh I guess maybe you gotta keep tomororow in mind too.

  245. Hugh Jassman says:

“I’m doing it ’cause I’m the DAMN MANAGER AND ITS MY JOB”

  246. Yeah, I guess saving him for tomorrow makes sense.

Again, Gaudin’s all by his lonesome.

  247. Babe's Ghost says:

I think this is a big risk because you have no idea how Aceves is going to pitch. D-Rob was doing great.

  248. james says:

    Girardi is an idiot

  249. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Great move Joe. Great move.

  250. Bednarz42 says:

    great move.

  251. Keanu Reeves says:

    So far so good…

  252. NYTraveller says:

Just get the .200 hitter out once

  253. Riddering says:

Dammit, Joe, D-Rob is the one who gets the wins for SPs in the postseason.

  254. Ivan says:

Oh no, Yankee Killer Jeff Mathis is up. ZOMG!!!!!!!

  255. Mister Delaware says:

Between the Marte hook and now D-Rob, you wonder if Girardi is practicing for next year’s all-star game.

  256. Yanks21 says:

They will send you back to Mexico…. and we both dont want that

  257. SmittDogg says:

Cano really had a shot at that – not saying he has to make that play, but his leash is a little shorter after his game 2 performance.

  258. Let’s fuckin’ go, Ace. Remind this guy that he’s Jeff Mathis.

  259. E-ROC says:

Marte, Coke, and Gaudin are left, right?

  260. Drew says:

I’m thinking he went with Alf because Ace throws nothing straight. Howie could sit on D-Robs fastball.

  261. danny says:

lets go ace, prove us wrong.

  262. Brian says:

Just get one more out Ace!

  263. Accent Shallow says:

Kendrick hitting .400 on the series: anyone want to take the under?

  264. AJ says:

Aceves, c’mon man. Mathis got a lucky double last time. You’ve got to attack the zone.

  265. Babe's Ghost says:

Plus, in a best case scenario, Aceves has to close.

  266. The Artist says:

Oh well. Hell of a game.

  267. E-ROC says:

    ol well

  268. You have got to be fucking kidding me.

  269. Mike bk says:

    way to go girardi.

  270. Jackson says:

    Well that backfired.

  271. MAMO says:

    game over. good job girardi.

  272. SmittDogg says:

    Goddamn it Joe……

  273. John Duci says:

  274. Accent Shallow says:

Jeff fucking Mathis. What a fucking joke.

    Tomorrow’s another day.

  275. scooter says:

Fuck me – Mathis wins it, and Girardi blew it overthinking

And Aceves has been awful so far against the Angels

  276. Brazilian Yankee says:

  277. Yanks21 says:

  278. james says:

    Joe Girard blew this game

  279. Bob Stone says:

    Girardi blew this one.

  280. Ivan says:

Wow, I have no words to explain this.

  281. AJ says:

That’s what happens when you don’t throw strike one. Tough game to lose, especially with Kazmir pitching tomorrow.

  282. Jeremy says:

We made them work for it. We’ll get ‘em tomorrow.

  283. mustang says:

Damn I know it’s one game but that hurt

  284. Babe's Ghost says:

    Like I said, bad choice

  285. Reggie C. says:

    This is on Girardi.

  286. Mike says:

    girardi is a fucking asshole

  287. Mike Pop says:

    Fuck man.

  288. Mister Delaware says:

    Stupid fucking binder.

  289. dgrgr says:

This loss is on Girardi, Swisher and Cano

  290. ShuutoHeat says:

Oh wellz, we lost this one. I’m still sticking by this team, no regrets. We get em.

  291. Christopher says:

Girardi costs the Yankees a game in the post-season. Yikes.

    • MikeD says:

When the series started, I saw a few sabre-inclined commentators suggest that while they believed the Yankees would win it all, the odds were high that Girardi would cost the Yankees at least one win in the post season with over management of the bullpen. We just saw it. Hopefully he got it out of the way.

  292. Charlie says:

fucking stupid as shit move. why the fuck would you take out d-rob when he a) is a beast and b) was doing fine. we all knew that stupid fuck would overmanage at some point. thanks girardi you motherfuckin dumbass

  293. MAMO says:

    • scooter says:

I’m pissed off, but this is a huge overreaction

Aceves has been solid all season. Now it’s two bad games in a row – no command, and meh stuff

In the playoffs, go with the guys who are throwing well.

  294. MikeD says:

Over-managing by Girardi. Robertson should not have been removed, IMHO.

  295. PsiFighter37 says:

Stupid f’in Girardi. What the hell was that.

  296. trueblue says:

    Girardi is an idiot

  297. Hova says:

Wow. Girardi will be ripped apart for taking Robertson out with two outs after a handful of pitches.

  298. Brazilian Yankee says:

Someboduy quick, make an excuse for Girardi. Or Swisher. Or the rest of this pathetic offense.

  299. SF Yanks says:

Can’t win em all, I guess. However, I want zero momentum going their way, and that doesn’t help.

  300. Drew says:

People are going to be pissed at Joe but Alf has got to get the job done.

  301. Reggie C. says:

    Very very disappointing.

  302. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

    Girardi is a damn fool.
The Yanks can’t hit with RISP now wait till tomorrow when they face Kazmir.

  303. Brian says:

Way to go Joe…hopefully this doesn’t turn the tide of the series. Fucking bullshit goddamnit.

Well CC tomorrow, hopefully he tosses a gem and the Yankees win.

  304. Mark B says:

Torre would not have made that error….Girardi better learn from the mistake and move on tomorrow

  305. billbybob says:

Wow. Girardi is a fucking moron.

  306. Tony says:

    Girardi implosion

  307. Ivan says:

I cannot wait for the stat of game 4. Yanks WILL get them faggots tomorrow.

  308. mustang says:

D-Rob move was a killer no question.

  309. Jobamania says:

    marte(lefty) gets 1 out on 1 pitch
gets replaced by phil coke(lefty) who gives up a double

    robertson gets 2 outs
gets replaced by aceves who just sucks and hastn been good for a while now to end the game.

    cool management girardi.

not to mention going 0-10000000 with RISP, can we get any worse? 4 solo blasts is pathetic.

    • Chris says:

The Yankees are 5-1 in the post season. The best record of any team. So, Yes we could get worse. We could be the Angels, or the Phillies, or the Dodgers.

      • Jobamania says:

i meant it as in this game:o plus we hvaent been hitting with RISP at all this series and it was bound to bite us in the ass. hopefully we learn from it.

  310. YankeeScribe says:

    Girardi lost this game

  311. Drew says:

Lohud in the buildin.. what what

  312. Tom Zig says:

this is what happens when you don’t hit with RISP…ever

  313. marc resnick says:

The scouting report on kendrick is he cant hit off speed pitches. Ace throws junk. We saw kendrick line up fat fastballs all game. Ace just pitched poorly.

  314. Bob Stone says:

Girardi is in press conference on YES

  315. trueblue says:

Tomorrow is a near must win.. CC on 3 days vs. a guy that owns us.. I don’t like the look of handing the ball to AJ in a must win game

    • scooter says:

      You’re kidding, right?

      • trueblue says:

No… You feel good about AJ vs. Lackey in Aneheim? I do not- never know what you get with AJ

This was a huge swing game. Yanks should have been up 6-0 vs Weaver but fucked it up.

    • TheLastClown says:

Let’s relax with the “Kazmir owns us” business.

He got lit up against the Sox in the DS, and only dominated against us once out of three starts this year.

      We’ll get to Kazmir & I’ll be there :)

      • trueblue says:

The numbers don’t lie… For Kazmir or for pitching on 3 days rest. I hope CC duplicates the other night and makes it moot, but there is nothing about tomorrow that is easy

  316. Mike Pop says:

Bringing in Aceves >>>>>>>> dealing with the bullshit that will come from this both on here and the MSM.

  317. Michael Kay says:

If Steinbrenner were still alive YES would be going live to a press conference to announce the new Yankees manager for Game 4.

  318. Jobamania says:

girardi: “we liked the matchup with ace better”

  319. Ed says:

CC is going to have to pitch a shutout and hit for himeslef tomorrow.

  320. theriverdog says:

no bridge jumping yet people. It’s one game and the Halos cant win at home.

One game, calm down. We lost our FIRST game of the playoffs and you’re acting like we’re down 3-0.

Tomorrow is another day and a big lefty, remember him?

    • Pasqua says:

Honestly, people have every right to be upset about this one. Losing is one thing, but increasing your chance to lose like that (as I and a lot of other people would agree happened) warrants some anger.

      • theriverdog says:

fine, frustration is seemingly understandable, but we probably were not going to win every game this series. Girardi messed up like every Angel in Game 1. There’s just no reason to panic is all i’m saying.

    • Charlie says:

really? tommorow is another day? you really don’t fucking understand the postseason, do you?

  321. Lanny says:

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. Its been plain as day. Girardi aka LaRussa JR costing us a post season game with his ridiculous over managing. Its just sad.

    • scooter says:

Sad is you popping in here to troll the boards again

      • Lanny says:

So someone who criticizes the moves is now a troll?

So everyone who waves pom poms is ok I guess? F that.

If you cant take the criticism you shouldnt be posting on this board.

        • Mike Pop says:

You’re a troll because you change your name from Bo to Lanny in order to become that troll.

Also, when you get called out on what you would have done(for example: motherfuckers always asked you how to build a better bench, I’d fnd another comment of yours 20 comments down about you saying the bench sucks, great job cashman without ever responding to anyone elses response)

Yes, I know how bad that grammar was but i’m fuckin pissed.

  322. stuart says:

the stooges tonight are; tex with another great offensive game, wow just saw swisher swing at another off speed in the ground in the clubhouse, and of course mister clutch himself robinson cano..

joe overmanaging with the aceves move enough with the damn moves………….

    0 for 8 with RISP, clutch……….

  323. marc resnick says:

not to mention we are 3 for like 28 with risp this series. 3 for 28!

  324. Mike Pop says:

It’s not like the pen has been absolutely fantastic for us this postseason.

    Let’s all forget that.

  325. SteveD Fla says:

everyone on the planet was wondering what the fuck Girardi was doing taking out D-Rob. Way to over manage Joe.

  326. adam says:

This confirms my thought that Girardi was lucky in game 2
Why pinch hit cervelli there. Mo has as much of a chance of a hit then one more inning.

How do you take Rob out of that game
    its criminal

i cant wait to hear this crappy explanation.

If they didnt have stupid guzman out there hinske could play or hit for swisher.

    • hit for swisher.

      I doubt that ever happens.

    • Pasqua says:

Putting Mo out there for the 11th without a lead hurts your chances in 2 different games. Yes, he might preserve the tie but there is still not guarantee that you win the game and then he’s out for tomorrow. At least, if I’m looking for silver lining, Mo should be able to pitch tomorrow.

  327. ansky says:

True Girardi fucked up…but if Swish puts one in the air in either of the 1st and 3rd situation innings the game never would’ve been Girardi’s to fuck up. This offense has to wake the fuck up b/c Jete and AROD cant do it every day.

  328. Klemy says:

I just have to believe that was over managed. ughhh He better be useful tomorrow now.

  329. Tank the Frank says:

No, Joe Girardi does NOT over-manage.

  330. Well, let’s just put it behind us, take a deep breath, and let CC do his thing tomorrow night.

  331. pete says:

stupid move by girardi, but i’m still pissed at pettitte for throwing something over the plate to Guerero 1-2. That was fuentesian

    • SteveD Fla says:

Girardi should have never went out there in the middle of the at bat. Did you notice Petites face? He looked pissed. And Im pretty sure thats where Jorge was set up for the pitch. Inside I think.

  332. adam says:

He has been quick with the hook the whole postseason.
why take out guys who are throwing strikes and getting outs

  333. Doug says:

All the people crawling out of the woodwork to share with us exactly how badly they can’t handle a Yankees loss.

It’s probably a little too taxing on your mental capacities to read RAB and watch the game at the same time, huh?

People have every right to vent that way, but it’s just sad and a little depressing every time it happens.

    • scooter says:

I get the feeling it might be a short list of people with multiple logins, all spewing the same crap

    • JackC says:

True, but while it’s silly to think the Yanks would 11-0, it’s the manner in which the Yankees lost that sticks in people’s craws — much rather lose 11-0. True, this isn’t all Girardi’s fault — their #’s with RISP are shockingly bad — but Joe’s fingerprints are found around the neck of the corpse that is this game

      • Doug says:

I understand that. The problem is that the majority of these complaints come from people who have been silent all night, then as soon as Kendrick slides into home, they commence the complaining. That is their only contribution the whole game.

    • Michael Kay says:

whoa whoa whoa, I may be ugly and hate filled but….

  334. Riddering says:

    On another Yankee site:

“Is it true that we have to win five??”

    Oh, jeez. Too funny.

  335. Jake H says:

I have no problem with the pitching. The O did nothing with RISP and it seems like from posada’s hr we got no hits or walks.

  336. Joe Girardi says:

    My B

  337. MAMO says:

They’re in some deep shit now. A guy they can’t hit and CC on 3 days rest. I just hope the bats come out firing tomorrow; and CC pitching 7 innings of 3-4 ER…

  338. pat says:

Yeaaa fire up the Trolls bring it fuckwads.

  339. Moose Man 12 says:

Girardi is a complete fucking disgrace.

This is NOT a fucking math test, you gotta go with your BEST pitchers in the moment, ACEVES FUCKING BLOWS!!!!!

Unreal, this is EXACTLY why he got his ass fired from Florida. Stupid stat geek whose more concnerned with fucking NUMBERS than his own EYES! This loss is 100% on him…Swisher and Melky, you are hereby pardoned.

p.s. Can you fire a Manager mid post-season????

  340. Mike Pop says:

I thought Girardi undermanaged when he didn’t let Guzman hit for Swisher.

  341. Jobamania says:

i didnt catch his answer for why marte to coke. did anyone catch it?
    marte threw 1 fucking pitch

  342. jjhammer31 says:

I don’t like the move if it forces Gaudin in there earlier than he should be, but Aceves wasn’t going to get beat no matter what. Either now or in the next inning. They need to continue to get good starts and they’ll be very tough to beat. If they hit with RISP, they are a lock.

  343. marc resnick says:

one last thought to alll the ace haters…. even if we scored the next innning.. guess who is closing out the game?

  344. Bill says:

Joe Girardi cost us that game. Pulling Mo for Cervelli was dumb, pulling robertson for aceves was dumber. He has been hurting us all yr but it finally caught up w. him. this could be a huge momentum swing, we better win game 4.

    • Pasqua says:

Mo for Cervelli was not dumb, unless you like the idea of no Rivera for Game 4, b/c that’s exactly the situation you’d find yourself in if Mo came pitched the 11th.

  345. AJ says:

Alright everyone, let’s take a step back from the ledge and calm down a bit. The Yankees didn’t have their A-game tonight. The bullpen pitched admirably, but you knew at some point going 0-for-8 with RISP (stat might be more, I’m not sure) was going to hurt this team. Andy still had a solid start, but the ball just wasn’t going the Yankees way tonight. I don’t think anyone should have had the expectation that this team would go 11-0 in the postseason. It’s one game. Remember the Angels series earlier in the season where the Yanks lost the first but won the next two to take the series? This team will rebound and play better.

So let’s all take a deep breath. The Yanks still hold a 2-1 series lead with their ace going tomorrow. Kazmir has pitched well against the Yankees, but I think the Yanks are due for a real break-out game this postseason.

    Tomorrow is another day.

    • JMK aka The Overshare says:

Thank you. I was getting tired of the LoHud vitriol in here. No one is happy with what transpired. Should Girardi have left K-Rob in? I think so, but that doesn’t really matter. The real issue here is the missed opportunities. We had them all game and that’s what did us in. This idea that Girardi has been hurting the team all year with his over-managing, I think, is a bit over-thought. You don’t win 103 games with a clueless manager. Managing is putting players in the best position to win. Girardi doesn’t play the game, the players do. While I think putting in a guy who pitches more to contact was a poor decision, it does not mean that he is a poor manager.

We’re up 2-1 and have our ace going tomorrow. We need to be more consistent offensively but going 11-0 wasn’t going to happen.

  346. Dela G says:

    i’ll just say this

not having hinske is killing the yanks

  347. mike jones says:

Should have let mo bat in the top of the 11th

  348. Moose Man 12 says:

hahaha, Michael Kay just repeated exactly what I just said.

  349. Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

That was the second stupidest move I’ve ever seen (cough Grady Little cough). Aceves was not pitching well, naving allowed a run yesterday. Robertson had been pitching great. He had gotten 2 quick outs. There was a limited history. Both were righthanded. Why switch pitchers?

    • dan says:

no reason just a brain cramp or he likes to see himself on tv.

    • Bob Stone says:

Exactly. To top it off, Girardi’s answer, in the post-game press conference, for the move was totally stupid. He said “We have all the stats and we liked the matchup better” Incredible!!!!

      • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

There were like three at bats each. What a dumb move.

      • westcoastyanks says:

Girardi’s explanation is total bull. Fox ran the stats. Kendrick was 1-2 against Robertson, with a K and 2 RBI’s. Aceves had NEVER faced Kendrick. There is no way that is enough data to make a decision like that in the 11th inning, especially considering how good Robertson was throwing and how bad Aceves looked on Saturday night.

  350. ShuutoHeat says:

Wait, where the fuck were some of you people when everything was going right with the game? Oh thats right, you people only come out to complain. When the Yankees win, you guys run around like a true Yankees fan.

I’m as pissed as anyone for losing this game. But shiet, I wasn’t spouting out shit when things are looking grim. We move forward and we believe in this team. That’s what fans do. Not abandon the fucking ship like every other fucking bandwagon fan.

Believe in this team, that is all there is. If not, you can go cheer for the other teams. Yankees don’t need some half ass fans that doubt every move. We lose, then we fucking lose. We win, then we fucking win. Accept the loss gracefully, fucking trolls.

    • scooter says:

‘cept more than a few of the woodwork-ers aren’t exactly fans, if you get my drift

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

Still, this game sucked horribly. A win, I think it’s over. As it is, I think we’ll win, but still…

    • Dela G says:

      dude i’m here all game

i never leave unless i have class

      • ShuutoHeat says:

Dela G, you’re cool. Just sick of some people that jump in only to enjoy the misery of Yankee fans. Plus the ones that won’t believe in this team.

    • Bob Stone says:

I was here all day . . . long before I saw you show up. I am upset at a stupid move by Girardi to replace DRob with Aceves that might have cost us the game. Everyone on the YES Network, the F&^king Yankees own channel, are asking the same questions and complaining about the move as well.

Don’t tell me how to root for my team. I am a Yankee fan. I have a right to complain. If you don’t like it, too bad.

      • ShuutoHeat says:

I wasn’t referring to you bob. I saw you around on the post too. I was here all day, after running my errands early in the morning just for the game.

I was referring to all these people going ape shit that wasn’t even here earlier. Obviously they were either trolls or just people that think they are fans.

    • Babe's Ghost says:

I disagreed with G’s moves, but I am not panicking.

Last time I checked it was best out of seven, we won our two at home, the Angels won the first of their three. As far as I can tell the pressure is on them. If they lose a single game at home they’ll be under tremendous pressure. We have home field advantage, look at our starters, we have CC twice more, we have AJ. Look at our hitters we have Jeter, Po, Tex and Arod. Look at our pen, we have Joba, Hughes and D-Rob, for Mo’s sake, we have Mo!
The only people shouting the sky is falling are the Lohud tards and the trolls. The Lohud tards you ignore. The only thing to tell a troll is “Back under the bridge with you.”

  351. CapitalT says:

During the Catcher Preview (great job on those BTW), I wrote that it always seamed that Mathis got big hits against the Yankees.

Somebody came back with his pedestrian stats vs the Yankees.

Now I wish I had been wrong and not the tool who snidely commented

  352. Riddering says:

Guys, it’s a cool night. Let’s go for a walk, cool our heads, and then come home and pop in Sisqo CD.

  353. Jobamania says:

oh and guzman probably could have caught that ball mathis hit

  354. Lanny says:

If hes going to over manage like crazy why wasnt Guzman out in LF for defense?

  355. Jobamania says:

the bottom line is that GIRARDI lost this game, not the New York Yankees.

  356. MikeD says:

So was following on GameCast, which is difficult when certain moves are made. It reported that Cervelli was hitting for Damon, but that can’t be right. I’ve seen a post here that said he was hitting for Mo, but why was Mo hitting at all?

  357. I’m going to say this again, in bold, caps, and in italics:

  358. JackC says:

It’s only one game, my fellow Yankee fans. But God, A) Anaheim is a house of horrors B) A surprisingly high # of Yanks aren’t hitting a LICK and C) The more you think about Girardi’s move, the more inexplicable it becomes.

    Still, let’s get ‘em tomorrow.

  359. DreDog says:

Not worried. CC twice, AJ & Andy for two wins. Done.

  360. Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

I think I speak for everybody when I say:

    I hate Anaheim.

  361. dan says:

just because were bitching dos’t mean were not loyal .My fear is he dosn’t get it and will do the same shit again next game

  362. Pasqua says:

I will say this: it is after games like these that I realize how scarred I was by the 2004 series against the Sox. As irrational as it might be, I find myself flashing back to it in the tight spots now and remembering that sickening feeling as each game came and went.

Could that be a part of the emotional reaction? And does anybody relate to this?

    [Sobs quietly into his pillow.]

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

It’s like I’m the victim of some fearsome attack and every time something bad happens I keep flashing back and panicking.

    • putt says:

I’m with you, sometimes. Today, I started getting those feelings when Abreu drew the 2 out walk in front of Vlad. It was like that game 4 walkoff to Ortiz; the inch they needed to push the door back open.

I felt a lot better after the Posada HR tho. I guess those feelings come and go, I just try to stay as positive as possible.

I will say this tho; I really don’t feel like the Yanks can be beat in the Bronx. Thank Mo for homefield throughout!

  363. rob says:

need cc and aj to get it done. thats why they’re here…maybe tex can find his bat??

    dammit joe

  364. westcoastyanks says:

Girardi’s tendency to overmanage has been fodder for debate all season, but the decision he made tonight was decried by everyone watching the minute it happened and frankly defies all rational explanation. Robertson just showed everyone that he has the control, poise and “stuff” to get out the Angels biggest offensive threat, and yet he gets pulled for a junkballing long reliever who looked bad in his last appearance only 36 hours ago? Girardi made this decision based, we can only assume, on all of 2 at bats worth of data (which were inconclusive, even if you are willing to discount the small sample size). This is absolutely a fireable offense. There is obviously no guarantee that the Yankees win the game if Robertson isn’t pulled, but Girardi’s move put his team in a worse position without any provocation — if the Angels make a series out of this, the Yankees need to seriously look at bringing in a steady hand to man the bench.

    • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

Um, they didn’t lose the series yet. How is that a fireable offense?

    • TheLastClown says:

      A “fireable offense?”

You couched yourself in a thin cloak of sanity up until that.

It was a mistake, a dumb move. Aceves pitched great for us at at times this year, maybe Girardi was blinded by loyalty.

If bringing in D-Rob with the bases loaded against the Twins backfired, he’d be castigated for that.

If something was perfect 100% of the time, it’d be no fun to watch.

      • westcoastyanks says:

How is a dumb move in the 11th inning of an LCS game NOT a firable offense? This wasn’t an arguable move that just didn’t work out – I agree that those happen, it’s part of the fun of the game – this was a mental error in a pressure moment that was preventable. Were it a player that made this error, the proper decision would be to not put them in that position again. How is it not the same for the manager?

        • Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

          Because we’re winning the series.

          • westcoastyanks says:

Let me rephrase — do you have confidence in Girardi managing late-game situations going forward? Because its not just Girardi making the move that is frightening, its that he actually thinks he was doing the right thing. If he can’t see that ignoring glaringly obvious on-field performance in favor of thinly-supported statistical history is the wrong way to go, then he absolutely needs to be relieved of his duties in the off-season.

    • Count Zero says:

I don’t know about a “fireable offense” but there’s no denying that was a bonehead move in a long string of them tonight. He was definitely over-managing, and all it did was get him further and further behind the 8 ball. I can only hope he didn’t tell Gardner to run on that 1-1 pitch when everyone in creation knew a pitchout was coming.

    • westcoastyanks says:

I don’t buy the “it’s only one game” argument. The Angels are absolutely good enough to win 3 of the next 5 and take this series. Heck, they probably should have won Game 2 and actually be ahead in the series right now. Now the already struggling Yankee offense goes up against a pitcher that is a very tough matchup for them (Kazmir) with the Angels best big game pitcher following right behind him (Lackey). Sabbathia and Burnett could shine and still lose both those games, at which point the Yankees are returning to the Bronx in do-or-die mode and this “one game” is looking huge.

  365. Tom Zig says:

the 1998 yankees lost 2 games in the postseason

    • Drew says:

Yeah, only because Joe Torre was stupid.

    • ashish says:

Lol. I was wondering when we were going to lose the first game. Now if you would have told me before the series started that the Yanks would be up 2-1 before Game 4, I would’ve signed up for that in a heartbeat. Still don’t like the Aceves for D-Rob move but what’s done is done. Go CC and go Yanks!!!!

    • Dan says:

Imagine what this place would’ve been like after ALCS Game 2 that year.

  366. Michael Kay says:

meh its how these things go, going up 3-0 would have been nice against a team that we as fans get a little nervous playing, but on the bright side this time we aren’t trying to calm ourselves with “Well if we can get anything out of Mussina we can have Wang go in a must win.”

I mean I watched Randy Johnson pitch an absolute turd against these guys and fall back on “Well hopefully Chacon can do the job” to make myself feel better. Its night and day when Sabathia is waiting for his turn.

  367. And, let’s make sure we spread some blame around here:

    1. Girardi’s move was definitely ill-advised and puzzling. He definitely deserves a good share of the blame.
    2. Aceves made bad pitches to a bad hitter and he paid for it. He deserves some of the blame too.

    And, again, for emphasis:

Let’s just put it behind us, take a deep breath, and let CC do his thing tomorrow night.

  368. Jobamania says:

    Lets recap
Go 0-11ty with RISP, hit 4 solo homers. yes it was ugly but we did enough to win the game or atleast give us another chance to win
Bring in Marte to face figgins(1 pitch fly out)
Next batter, bring in Coke to face Abreu(double, but hes and idiot and overruns and gets out)
Bring in hairston for his arm(fine but we lost the DH)
Bring in robertson to get 2 outs on 11 pitches
Bring in aceves(rofl) who gets clobbered and loses game

  369. Accent Shallow says:

As baffling as pulling Robertson was, I’m not particularly thrilled with Pettitte for the bomb to Vlad, or the offense for doing nothing when someone was on base. Or Joba for giving up rockets to shitty hitters.

Still, with CC going tomorrow, I’m not in panic mode just yet.

  370. scott says:

that was terrible over managing. someone please rationalize it for me so i can sleep tonight. someone needs to get a hit with runner in scoring position. it might also help if swish or melk could hit a slider. this game was doomed the second vlad hit the HR. i thought a righty should have been up for him, but that might have been over managinf

    • Pasqua says:

Considering the Abreu miscue on the bases and the whole getting-out-of-the-inning-with-1st-and-3rd-and-nobody-out thing, to say that the game was doomed on the Vlad HR makes you quite a prognosticator.

My point is, the Yanks had ample opportunities to pull it out after that HR and didn’t take advantage of it.

    • Jobamania says:

not really, andy didnt have much all night

he was in the “battle” mode which frankly i’m annoyed to hell with. when people say he battled through is when he sucks. But girardi has been quick to hook andy all year, why not hook him then? He’s all over with his decisions

    • Larryf says:

We need to get rid of that binder that Joe looks at or have Eiland or Pena look at it and then lie to Joe! We got LaRussa’ed tonight for sure.
      Analysis paralysis……

      • Pasqua says:

The weird thing is, watching the replay, when Girardi goes to the binder, he actually doesn’t look at ANYTHING. He just opens to the first page, flips it, and then closes the book. I really think he just “gutted” that decision…unfortunately.

    • Chris says:

Aceves gave up a seeing eye ground ball single to Kendrick. It’s not like the ball was crushed. A foot to the left or right and that’s an out that ends the inning.

      • Jobamania says:

and girardi would have dodged another bullet he fired by himself
but nope, his STUPID decision finally came back to bite him int he ass, and i’m glad it did. maybe it will be a wake up call. when a pitcher is in his groove, you dont remove him to go to a coin flip pitch to contact long reliever.

aceves shouldnt even be on this roster, why would you want 2 long relievers? bring on bruney

  371. marc resnick says:

joe torre let jeff weaver pitch before mo rivera.

  372. Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

More concerning is that our offense basically shut down. We got to get these guys going or we’ll just keep letting the Angels back into these games.

BTW, anybody else pissed at Francesa crowning this team already?

  373. Lanny says:

As much as Girardi is to blame you have to put just as much on Swisher for leaving a small village on base with less than 2 outs.

And I’ll be shocked if Melky starts tomorrow. His at bats have been 2008 Melky-esque.

  374. Jake H says:

Why this lose hurts I don’t think the bottom of the lineup and Tex are going to suck it up at the plate.

  375. Jobamania says:

    Yankee hitters vs Scott Kazmir

Lets hope Teix finds his way tomorrow and Swisher somehow finds his patience back

  376. Drew says:

We all know it, let’s stop beating around the bush.

Girardi is teh moron and the only chance the Yankees have of winning is if we get Lanny, Bo or sal to manage this team.

  377. dan says:

If we keep swinginng at any off speed pitch in the dirt we will not knock in runners

    • Pasqua says:

But the fact is, some of those Angels throw pretty mean off-speed stuff. Curveballs on 3-2 counts? I can’t really kill the Yanks for being off balance. Now, the complete lack of hitting in the latter half of the game…that’s another story.

      • Larryf says:

Bulger (I think) also threw a 3-1 curveball to Posada for a strike (taken of course) before the 3-2 curve strikeout which was a ball inside. You gotta admire that confidence in your curve…

  378. Ivan says:

Guys, the yanks are still up in this series with CC pitching tomorrow. Calm down. Were not gonn win em all. Just take a chill pill. The yankees have this series.

  379. Dorian says:

The next time any of you question Girardi playing small ball in June, remember this game. Twice we had two on with less than two outs and he let guys swing. 1st and 2nd nobody out in the 4th and the inning goes as follows:

Matsui walk, Posada single, Cano fielder’s choice (Matsui moves to third), Swish K’s (as is his custom), and Melky grounds out to end the inning.

Fast Forward to the Top of the 8th after the Posada homer with 1 out: Cano singles, Swisher walks, Melky K’s (As is his custom), and The Captain grounds out. This game goes on Melky and Swish just as much as Girardi.

    • kunaldo says:

are you suggested that swisher should have bunted??

      • Dorian says:

Absolutely not. I am a believer in not giving up outs but I don’t think that assuring yourself runs is necessarily the skid mark on the underpants of society either. When runs are presented to you, you take them. In whatever fashion you can get them. Just because something isn’t executed doesn’t make it a bad decision. If Cano gets a bunt down in the 4th, we have another run.

All I am saying is that this is an example of when small ball might be able to help and isn’t the worst thing in the world. Don’t be so narrow minded to think that bunting is awful all the time.

        • kunaldo says:

Bunting isnt awful all the time…just most of the time. Swisher simply did not get the job done(just had to get a fly ball). It really sucks, but our team is just not clicking on offense(sans HRs)

But I’m not sure where you’re suggesting small ball in the situations cited…

  380. Drew says:

This is pathetic. If we can’t sweep the Angels how can we expect to beat the Phillies/Dodgers?

    We should just forfeit.

  381. Mike Pop says:

If he overmanages so much, so be it. It worked for us on Saturday. Worked for us throughout the postseason. He’s 5-6. I’ll take that any day. The move he made didn’t work out. I wanted to keep D-Rob in there, but so be it.

Nobody is bitching that he managed a great game on Saturday to get the Yankees a key win.

Jesus people. So soon you forget. It’s kind of sad.

  382. Larryf says:

On a positive note-Hughes threw a nasty first pitch 12:6 curveball strike. Oh well-trying to feel good about something…

  383. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

I think if Andy gets Guerraro in 6th, Yankees come out unscathed..but it happens..thats why the series is seven game and we still have four left to win two more..

  384. Joseph M says:

Disgraceful. Girardi could bungle this series away, Cashman needs to “counsel” Joe on the need to let the talent win or lose the series on their own. The Yankees are lucky, Girardi could have cost them the Saturday night game. There were so many bad decisions in this game that it’s too frightening to review, I like Joe, I was in favor of hiring him but he has to learn he is the biggest thing standing in the way of the Yankees and a trip to the World Series.

  385. The Artist says:

You know who’s REALLY to blame for this loss? It’s not Girardi, it’s not Joba and it’s not Nick Swisher.

    Two words. Joe Pawlikowski.

  386. Dontchaknow says:

They needed this win, because Kazmir has owned them. Girardi basically decided that he wanted the series tied 2 – 2. Cant wait for tomorrow when Kazmir walks a bunch of guys in Front of Cano, so he can promptly hit into a double play and ruin another inning.

  387. thurdonpaul says:

lets go out and score at least 12 runs tomorrow, CC goes 7 scoreless, and all will be forgotten

  388. Rocky Road Redemption (formerly RAB poster) says:

    Consider this guys…

Supposedly we “gave this game to the Angels, and they could still barely pull it out after 12 innings. Pretty amazing.
