It’s really dissapointing to see you consistently attack certain personalities that lean politcially right because you are often the funniest & coolest commentator on this fantastic site.
Please, start expanding your subject matter because it offends those politically conservative who share your passion for the Yanks.

I think you are a little premature in putting DRob on the same plane as Nelson and Stanton during the glory years. We also did not have better options. This year we have Hughes and Ace and maybe Joba ahead of DRob. I just feel like those guys plus a lefty can handle all of the high leverage relief innings

His WHIP for July and August was 1.55. In September he has pitched well, but only for 3.2 innings.

I like his long term potential, just not for this year during the playoffs.

Well, I don’t think Joba in the postseason was ever a given. Early in the season, the team was very vague about his postseason role. I think they were considering moving him to the pen or even not using him at all.

The team indicated in the preseason that they’d treat him like a normal 5th starter and skips starts on occasion, which didn’t really happen – which I’d guess is because it would’ve meant having guys like bad Wang and Mitre pitch more.

I also think that if they had an effective Wang or Hughes in the rotation, shutting Joba down completely would’ve been considered.

I think that Mo, Hughes, Ace, and lefty specialist should all see the mound before him. I would also trust Joba before him if Joba ends up in the pen. Mo, Hughes and Ace can all get more than three outs. That should be all we need in most cases. I like Roberston, but during the playoffs I don’t think you should go that deeep into the bullpen unless it is really needed or if it is a blowout.

This has also been his first real, kinda full year in the bigs, and he has been a bit inconsistent and has had some control problems. Again, I like him, but I don’t think he should be trusted in the playoffs this year. ONly time will tell though

That’s ridiculous hyperbole.

I’ll agree with you that it’s premature to think that DRob can slide right into the 8th inning role and replicate what Phil Hughes is currently doing, because he’s just not that good of a pitcher, but he’s a damn fine reliever, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving him high-leverage playoff innings.

If you think DRob shouldn’t see the light of day in the playoffs, you must have hated watching Jeff Nelson or Mike Stanton during the title years, because all three of those guys are the same caliber of relief pitcher.
