Some great stuff in the papers today:

"Every year, there seems, a growing number of numerologists and nattering nabobs join the army that believes — that swears — that Jeter isn’t nearly the equal of his reputation. That he is a product of the New York hype machine, that the notion that he elevates his game is nonsense, is fiction, is product of a parochial press.
And then . . . well, almost invariably, Jeter does what he does best."

Look familiar.

Wow. Greenie and Golic shared this opinion as well? This is unbelievable. You know what then – they shouldn’t have popped any champagne and partied for two hours after the game and done a victory lap like they just won the World Series.

SHUT UP MLB AND ESPN

5 game series are not nice. I say we ban 'em. And that f'ing wildcard thing.

Mike, that base hit by A-Rod to make it 4-2 was not clutch because it was not in the 8th or 9th inning. What a joke of an argument that was between the Big Papi-A-Rod MVP race in 2005.

A hit in the 8th or 9th is only a very small amount more valuable than in the 1st or 2nd inning, only because of the time/outs remaining in the game to score more runs. Critics always act like a "clutch hit" can only happen in late innings and are SO much more valuable than early inning hits.

Russell, nice work. I can't blame you, only because someone in a Boston hat was in the bar as well.

For me, I am actually rooting to play the Red Sox in the ALCS. As a true Yankees fan, I root for what is the easiest path to a World Series Championship. Which is why I rooted for the one-game playoff and an extra innings game (and got it!), and for the Red Sox to beat the Angels, since we don't ever play well out West against the Angels.

Also, don't ya'll remember the days when the Red Sox just didn't matter and we really didn't HATE them? I only HATE them now because of their fans and that the organization thinks they are so tough, and their players are classless. But not enough to root against them for a more difficult route to #27.

Agreed. The RISP O-for is not what I was referring to, but rather him being dubbed a "choke-artist" in the playoffs for his life. Its just not true. Look at his numbers outside of 2005-2006 you losers.
