NLDS Game One Thread: Rockies @ Phillies

By Mike Axisa

Even though last night’s riveting Twins-Tigers game was for all intents a purposes a playoff game, the postseason officially gets underway today. Cliff Lee (14-13, 3.22) and the Phillies are at home taking on the Rockies, who are sending Ubaldo Jimenez (15-12, 3.47) to the bump. If you’re an ESPN insider, you can check out KLaw’s series preview here. TBS is carrying the game, and first pitch is scheduled for 2:37pm. Use this thread to chat about the game while we wait for the Yanks to start their own playoff series a little later this evening.

Who in the hell are these guys?

Dela G says:

am i the only one who’s MLB.tv is actually working for the playoffs too?

i didn’t pay a dime and i am getting this playoff baseball on top of the 99 i paid for MLB.tv

Clayton says:

Are you getting the regular broadcast or the postseason.tv? I am getting just the postseason.tv with some weird camera angles.

Dela G says:

Ubaldo Jiminez has the best fastball i’ve seen this year

he throws some wicked moving 96-98mph fastball

Thats why I wanted Detroit to win. The baseball fan in me wants to see the Yankees hit against Verlander

Peedlum says:

I can’t get the full feed, just the video from a camera angle of my choosing along with the audio. Its sorta half-assed and stupid. I get the exclusivity in the agreement with TBS, but believe me, if I could watch the game on a tv I would.

Peedlum says:

Sorry, went under the wrong comment.

Frank1979 says:

Hey question for anybody…What if this Rockies-Phillies game goes past 6pm? Does the Yankee game temporarily shift to another channel?

When that happened in 2007 the Yanks started on TNT.

Frank1979 says:

Chris says:

That better not happen… I get TBS, but not TNT.

What craptastic cable package gives you one but not the other?

Chris says:

It’s Time Warners basic cable package. Just 24 channels, but I get the networks and ESPN so there’s really no need for more. I couldn’t bring myself to spend $50 a month more just for YES…

Dela G says:

cliff lee just got lucky there

very Dice-BB esqe

Whats with the gay techno music?

Oh god its playing again. Whos genius idea was this?

Ask the radio operator in your cerebellum to turn down the music.

It’ll all be ok.

Am I the only one with a bad feed? It freezes for about 3 seconds every so often. It did it last night, but it’s worse today.

I haven’t tried the regular channel, as far as I know it’s just the HD feed.

dkidd says:

tbs feed driving me frank caliendo levels of crazy

ClayBuchholzLovesLaptops says:

On mlbtv? Mine is not working so great, either. Same problems.

Drew says:

My HD feed was fine last night and today too.

Drew says:

lol

Do umpires even watch what happens or do they just close their eyes and guess? I see the shitty umping we’ve seen all season has carried over to last nights and today’s game.

Ray says:

wow how did the ump miss that call? The Play wasn’t even the least bit close.

ClayBuchholzLovesLaptops says:

It doesn’t matter if he tagged him. He was out because the ball was there before the runner.

Ubaldo’s filthy. Just disgusting.

Salty Buggah says:

My favorite non-Yankee pitcher

Salty Buggah says:

Even though he made an out there, can we please somehow get Fowler from the Rox? How about Melky/Gardy/Kennedy/Some weaker prospects?

Zack says:

that makes no sense for colorado to do that

Salty Buggah says:

I know, I was just joking about that. But I really really want Fowler.

Chris says:

Why?

I can understand the general desire to have him as he’ll probably develop into a pretty good player, but so will Austin Jackson. For right now, both Melky and Gardner are better.

Salty Buggah says:

Mike do you think Gonzalez’s breakout this year was for real? I know this is his potential but he had not shown anything yet. This year, all of a sudden he starts to mash like crazy.

Mode:Theif and Lair says:

More importantly, is “Buggah” slang for Bugger or Booger? I’m hoping for the latter.

Doug says:

I’m hoping for the former.

*shifty eyes*

Salty Buggah says:

Hmmm, never thought of that. I don’t know.

I don’t think he can be that good over a full season, but he’s arrived.

Drew says:

Umpires are funny.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Gotta love them umps robbing the Rockies. Two bad calls in 3 innings.

Doug says:

Ubaldo just brushes the dirt off his shoulder and gets the strikeout anyway.

Brazilian Yankee says:

He’s a bad mofo!

pete says:

TheLastClown says:

Eh, Cliff Lee beat the ball to the bag. Didn’t matter if he got tagged.

pete says:

moreover, he’s white and doesn’t throw too hard. he should get a call or two here and there for grittiness

Salty Buggah says:

Haha, Howard trying to steal?

Zack says:

i love watching a network with a real radar gun and kzone up for every pitch

Drew says:

+1
Hopefully next year YES will get their shit together.

Evan says:

Not to mention that the scoring bug is up and ready right away. I still can’t believe how YES after all these years still has a delay between the start of the inning and when the bug shows up on the screen.

dkidd says:

jason werth looks like a veloceraptor

Evan says:

Where’s Werth’s mother?

/Destrade’d

Drew says:

Keep the ball in front of you. Holy shit.

Evan says:

Did the camera miss that ball by a bunch or what?

pat says:

has it really been this long without a comment or is my internet messed up?

pat says:

i guess it’s been a while.

Doug says:

Damn, Lee is 2 outs away from a complete game.
