The Dodgers had teams 1 and 2 in the wild card behind them in their division. (Facing Lincecum and Cain often doesn’t amount to facing “weakness”…talk about struggling to score runs!) Furthermore, the 4th and 5th best teams of the NL West also had better records respectively than the 4th and 5th teams in both the NL Central and NL East.

They also had the weakest schedule in the game, facing the padres, dbacks and giants so many times. Those teams all struggle mightily to score runs, and that’s almost 60 games.

Looking at the #s, Dodgers had by far the best pitching in baseball this year. Their bullpen is excellent.

Kuroda had a 1.14 WHIP. They get him throwing and they’re dangerous.
