With Mauer on second, the ground ball that Cuddyer hits (assuming he hits that same ground ball, which I shouldn't even do) is probably right to Cano because the defensive alignment is different. That puts Mauer on third with one out, which is a worse situation than what the Twins eventually found themselves in. So...I don't we "stole" anything.
