The single most curious phenomenon of the 2009 Yankee season for me is the eagerness and frequency with which some Yankee fans want to proclaim a game over and lost before that game is over and lost. I have questions:
1) Why do you feel the need to do this? What compels you do make that pronouncement?
2) Is it out of joy, or dread, or some other emotion?
3) What is this emotion borne from? Have you examined its source?
4) Do you ever look at the results of those games and evaluate your pronouncement? If you have, have you course corrected, or are you content continuing your behavior in the face of countermanding evidence?

it is actually an interesting psychological question. my guess would be that its a way of protecting yourself from the disappointment of your players letting you down – by accepting it now, it hurts less when they load the bases and don’t score. Not saying that’s gonna happen, just that people are trying to protect themselves by accepting a loss early.

i hope the Yankees watch the replays of this game and see all the Phillies laughing in the dugout. I hope this pisses them the fuck off and they wake up and take it out on Pedro. I would LOVE to see a 5 spot in the first inning tomorrow.

Lee pitched the game of his career but the Yanks didn’t make him work at all. That at bat by swisher was what they did all night. An 87 mph cutter and it freezes him. An 87 mph pitch shouldn’t freeze any hitter.
If you are sitting on something else, any pitch can freeze you. Lee has been great, just tip your cap and move on.
Lee has been great but the Yankees helped him out a ton. He hung some pitchers in the first, got through it and never looked back. They never tried to break his routine by stepping out multiple times at an at bat.
Where’s that guy that took a bath in Anaheim’s Disney-waterfall? We could use something to loosen things up here.
