World Series Game Two Spillover Thread V

And that’s why you don’t bunt.

Also, ML umpires are awful.

Categories : Game Threads, Playoffs

    Horseshit. Double horseshit.

  2. nathan says:

WTF was that… 2 gift outs?

  3. That makes up for the good call they made last night, huh?

  4. Drew says:

LOL at Bob C saying it’s not the umps fault. You’re right, they should not be held responsible for their blatant mistakes.

  5. slappy white says:

  6. Johnny says:

  7. NatalMike says:

These are supposed to be the best umps??

  8. goose says:

    Can we fire them all?

  9. JackISBACK says:

Its stupid. If Howard caught the ball, there is NO reason to throw to 2nd, he would just have to tag the base, if THAT DIDN’T tip off that fucking retard….UGH.

  10. pete says:

the amazingness of pitch/fx technology tells me that human umpires are an antiquated practice

  11. Hugh Jassman says:

This call could very well cost the yanks this game.

  12. The Artist says:

I send AJ out for the 8th. 108 pitches.

  13. rbizzler says:

    What a bunch of garbage.

Clearly, Howard knew he didn’t catch the ball. That is why he went to second and didn’t just touch up at first.

    Epic Fail.

  14. Brazilian Yankee says:

So they are only allowed to change calls agaisnt the Yankees? Amazing.

  15. Mike R says:

That is an absolute garbage call. I really hope that it doesn’t end up effecting the outcome of the game, because that is pure and utter BS.

  16. Newbie says:

I guess we have to have 4 hour games so it gets called correctly.

  17. Phanatic Philly says:

The Umpires are horrible in MLB.

  18. JobaWockeeZ says:

    2009 umpires all suck ass.

  19. Lanny says:

For all those books and stats Girardi reads he never read the part where teams don’t give up free outs???

    Especially in the 7th inning.

With the RP on the ropes. Crowd up and excited.

    And your best hitter up???

    He forgot that section?

  20. Girardi out to the mound says:

    Worst part about Jeter bunting…

Having to say these words: McCarver was right

  21. Alright, Mo. Fuck someone up.

  22. NatalMike says:

  23. charlespoet says:

Fucking overweight fat ass white men who can move should not be umpires…

  24. Drew says:

I saw better umping in the LLWS. This shit is ridiculous. If Jorge can see it from second why can’t the fucking man payed to watch it.

  25. The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

I’ve seen better Umpires in local youth sports leagues.

  26. Keanu Reeves says:

You know, it was a missed call, but it almost serves them right for Jeter, the ALL TIME YANKEE HIT LEADER, not swinging the damn bat.

    That being said….#$%@!!!

  27. Joker, The says:

I would like for those cumguzzling umpires to be shot in the ANUS.

  28. Girardi out to the mound says:

That may be the most game changing missed call of the postseason so far

  29. JMK aka The Overshare says:

I know this will be a hot-button topic coming up with the CBA approaching, but Bud Selig NEEDS to implement some sort of instant replay. Selig has to do this. There simply is not a justifiable reason for not implementing it.

    Your thoughts?

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    • Keanu Reeves says:

The only instant replay expansion I’d like to see is making all fair/foul calls okay to review, not just home runs.

      • Not enough.

Everything other than balls and strikes is reviewable.

And, I want a serious crackdown on balls and strikes from a training and performance standpoint as well.

The umps are expected to be 100%. That’s the goal, and it’s not unreasonable. Give them the technology, training, and accountability to make that happen.

    • Johnny says:

      damn it

    • Bob Stone says:

Agree totally. I wasn’t in favor of expanding Instant Replay until the HORRIBLE umpiring this entire post season. It has to be implemented immediately.

With HD TV, all these umpiring errors are even more glaring. It makes the umps look ridiculous and incompetent and brings into question the integrity of the game.

We’ve got high tech in our lving rooms with HD TV – We need high tech at the ball park with Instant Replau to complement it.

      IT’S TIME!

  30. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Remember when we thought it would be starter for seven, phil, then mo?

  31. Phanatic Philly says:

Can’t the other umpires help the blind one out?

  32. JobaWockeeZ says:

I can umpire better with my damn eyes closed.
Or are the umpires trying to do that already?

  33. nathan says:

    and why not convene tonight?

    they did last night

  34. Salty Buggah says:

If he fuckin caught the ball, why did he start going to 1st!!!! Fuckin umpires! I hate them.

    • Jackson says:

Um, well if he caught the ball then he would want to tag first to double up Posada. It’s the throwing to second that gives it away.

  35. AJ says:

But the umps human error is what makes baseball!

    /Tim Kurkjian’d

  36. Derby says:

I love how the 1B ump was BEHIND Howard I wonder how he can honestly say that howard caught the ball

  37. GG says:

we just had an out taken away from us late in a world series game……..really????

  38. dkidd says:

    come on mo

    make it moot!

  39. nathan says:

that asshole ump was behind Howard
how did he see through Howards dangling butt?

  40. Hova says:

Someone has to be fired over this. I am so freaking heated right now. I hope these umps die. Die die die.

    In Mo we trust.

  41. danny says:

seriously though? in the world fucking series you gotta get that call right. terrible

  42. Bryan says:

I’m still in shock that one of the best hitters in all of baseball tried to bunt with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Just horrible.

    • Seconded.

Jeter should be excoriated in the press for that tomorrow.

All the shit writers used to sling at ARod is what Jeter should get. That one bunt was worse than all the popups and strikeouts from ARod’s postseason struggles put together.

      • Bob Stone says:

I just find it hard to believe that Jeter with all his basebal acumen called that. I know that many of us here dump on Girardi, sometimes unfairly, but I immediately thought Girardi called that play.

Upon reflection, maybe that’s wrong. Perhpas Jeter decided to gamble and outsmart everyone so that he could TOP his flip play and pad his “intangibles” stats.

I can’t waait until the post game interview. Jeter will probably admit he did it on his own.

  43. CT Yankee says:

It was a bad call, but he was positioned correctly and there is no way he could get that right. And instant replay would have what? put Damon on first, runner on third?

  44. MikeD says:

Really? I saw it as a bounce at real speed.

  45. The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

Who cares how fast the play is.

  46. Johnny says:

In fairness… that would of been tough to call real time. Sucks anyway.

  47. Alex S says:

Bud Selig better make some serious changes this offseason. time and time again they’ve been ruining calls all posteason long. They’re regularly out of position or quick to make a call. I know some calls have gone our way and some haven’t but it’s ruining the game

  48. Here’s my proposal:

Home plate umpire is replaced by pitch F/X.
The home plate ump is instead in the replay booth, in communication with the umps on the field. When a call is wrong, he tells them to reverse it.

  49. NYTraveller says:

If he caught it in the air and touched first Posada would be out anyway. The only reason to throw to second is if you don’t catch it and you’re trying to get the slow lead runner.

    Brilliant analysis Tim

  50. Klemy says:

Why is there no strike call on Rollins when he doesn’t swing?

  51. charlespoet says:

Ya like those fat fucks meeting are going to change something, they can’t even seen their ding dongs how are they going to tell another clone he was wrong.

Bad bad bad umpiring. Well done MLB

  52. Derby says:

These Phillies don’t have a lot of experience with MO. I’m expecting a quick 123 8th and 9th

  53. Newbie says:

It was a tough call. If Howard thought he caught that why wouldn’t he just step on 1st?

  54. Jake H says:

    Philly lefties, meet Mr. Cutter

  55. Come on, Mo. Don’t lose Rollins.

  56. nathan says:

    this is a fuckin conspiracy

  57. Salty Buggah says:

Haha, you know what’s hilarious? 4 mins before that horrible call, the article about Selig refusing to expand replay just came up on Yankees.com

  58. Mike Axisa says:

The Phillies have large revenue, they’re paying off the umps!

    /Halos Heaven’d

  59. slappy white says:

  60. pete says:

more work cut out this offseason: bud selig or the mets?

  61. cjc says:

this east coast bias is out of control there is clearly a conspiracy with these umps I am calling for an investigation headed up by Halos Heaven

  62. charlespoet says:

On the other hand, Joe just sent a message to the bullpen. You suck right now and I can only trust one person.

  63. Jay says:

I’m not worried because Mo is in the game. But that call has me fuming. Sorry, but that was not close and the home plate umpire needs to make that call. If he’s not looking, he’s not doing his job.

Total suckage by umpires this year. They should all be fired.

  64. JackISBACK says:

Rollins doing his Eric Aybar impression.

  65. ShuutoHeat says:

Those fucktards in the Ivory Tower will never get it right…

  66. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Awful walk Mo. Awful walk.

  67. Goddammit. I am really sick of this asshole walking.

  68. Jake H says:

why can’t they get rollins out?

  69. Salty Buggah says:

Why are we all of a sudden walking Jimmy fuckin Rollins?

  70. Hova says:

F Rollins. DP right here. Let’s go.

  71. Henry Triana says:

We need replay. If not, we need a new comissioner.

  72. Derby says:

Rollins is a real pain in the ass

  73. Ivan says:

WTF? I no Mo is a merciful person but plz Mo.

  74. The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

I can’t take these FOX guys anymore. Their bias is clear.

    I’m muting.

  75. nathan says:

Great, we got royally f**ked there

that was basically taking a few runs and outs off us

  76. Hobs says:

    Double play right now…..now….now

  77. Derby says:

  78. Ivan says:

    Little League hit.

  79. Fucking dribblers.

    Work out of it, Mo.

  80. slappy white says:

dont get me wrong, its NEVER a bad move to bring in Mo, but he never seems to be as sharp in the 8th….hope it doesnt hurt

  81. Klemy says:

  82. Reggie C. says:

    C’mon Mo.

    Get a DP.

  83. AJ says:

    C’mon Mo!

  84. Jake H says:

That is why you don’t walk rollins. if you get him out that is an easy gb.

  85. trueblue says:

    Jesus Mo, come on

  86. Will says:

What happened to Mo’s velocity this postseason?

  87. Brazilian Yankee says:

That’s the 3rd or 4th groundball that goes right next to Tex and he doesn’t even try to field it.

  88. Salty Buggah says:

    Oh fuck this. Cmon Mo.

That bad call better not hurt us or else something bad’s gonna happen to Selig!

  89. MikeD says:

    ….uh, what r u talking about McCarver.

  90. pete says:

ok tim. melky literally just threw a 8999 mph laser

  91. Joker, The says:

That fucking blown call is going to fuck us out of a fucking win. I’m going to be sick.

  92. Henry Triana says:

  93. cjc says:

14000 hopper this inning is getting a bit annoying

Melky doesn’t have a strong arm? the fuck?

  94. Esteban says:

McCarver: Melky has a very strong arm! Not that accurate, but it’s strong.

  95. Jake H says:

Mo doesn’t seem to be able to hit the outside corner on lefties anymore.

  96. Jackson says:

What? Melky’s arm is “a little above average”?

  97. danny says:

    lets go mo!

  98. Ivan says:

Come on Mo. We need Old Testament Mo, not new Testament Mo.

  99. Accent Shallow says:

    Not worried just yet.

  100. Jay says:

And how much worse does that fucking bullshit call look now?

  101. NYQ says:

Is this that Rivera guy everyone keeps talking about, I am very disappointed.

  102. nathan says:

The umps are sure rooting for the yanks in this one.. cant make that call the focus eh

  103. AJ says:

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Phils try a double-steal here.

  104. Johnny says:

    not even worried a bit

  105. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

come on Mo..we need u for another inning..don’t build up pitch count

  106. Tim says:

How about McCarver and Buck saying that Howard touched first at any point. McCarver will say Hunter was safe because he complained and had the best view, but give it up and say no biggie when the Umps give the Phils TWO free outs?

  107. Derby says:

This inning is KILLING the pitch count

  108. Brazilian Yankee says:

21 pitches, 1 out. We are fucked.

  109. southernyankeefan says:

Come on MO end this threat.

  110. Klemy says:

    Please Mo.

  111. charlespoet says:

    lot of pitches for mo

  112. nathan says:

2 free outs in bottom 7… unfucking believable

and they have segwayed off to other topics already

  113. Vinny the Bull says:

    Oh sweet Jesus.

  114. Reggie C. says:

    Full count.

Mo. I have faith in you.

  115. ansky says:

    WTF is going on?

  116. pete says:

    c’mon mo

  117. Jake H says:

Mo has no command tonight. This isn’t good.

  118. cjc says:

    boy nothing easy

  119. Phanatic Philly says:

Why would they bring in their closer in the 8th?

  120. Vinny the Bull says:

    Tim McCarver. STFU.

  121. The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

  122. D-Roc says:

  123. Arman Tamzarian says:

    Done and Done

  124. chriskeo says:

    Good Call
    Thank Mo

  125. Salty Buggah says:

    HUGE DOUBLE PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  126. Derby says:

  127. Matty Ice says:

  128. Riddering says:

  129. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Beautifully turned by Jeter.

  130. Will says:

    23 pitches, 3 outs, bitchezz

  131. YankeeScribe says:

    In Mo we trust

  132. Mike Axisa says:

Pffft, and you people were getting nervous.

  133. Alex S says:

    DP muthafucka!

  134. yankees=warriors says:

  135. danny says:

  136. Mike says:

    yesssssssssssss woooo fuck yeah

  137. AJ says:

    Let’s go!

Let’s add some runs and give a big middle finger to the umps in this one.

  138. Jackson says:

Mariano Rivera is a bad ass.

  139. JobaWockeeZ says:

For a second I thought the umps would call them both safe. You never know.

  140. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

    In Mo we trust..

  141. Drew says:

What a feed by Cano!!! WOOOHOOOOOO

  142. Jake H says:

Mo don’t scare me like that!

  143. slappy white says:

Wow 23 pitches for Mo….but hey HE IS MO

  144. charlespoet says:

Ok, sliding that far out of the base path needs to be looked at for next year.

  145. trueblue says:

Did McCarver just question Cholly??? Unreal

  146. giselle says:

THAT’s how you do it. That’s how you turn a double play!

  147. Jay says:

And Mo says: EFF YOU Chase and your umpires.

  148. pete says:

    well that was nice

  149. JackISBACK says:

Oh wait, Oh wait, the RF line ump just called Utley safe, he saw him touch the base, and give himself a manicure before the ball got to TEX!!

  150. Lanny says:

Hey dont worry Girardi. Manuel may be worse than you.

How dont you send the runners there

Maybe thats Girardis thing. Make the other manager screw up. Scioscia obliged him.

  151. Girardi out to the mound says:

Is McCarver serious? Jeez man could you be anymore obvious.

Utley grounds to Cano. McCarver: UGH! UGH! I do not understand why they did not send the runners. And the Yankees get out of it”

    Is that serious!?

    • The Artist says:

He did call for it before it happened.

      • Girardi out to the mound says:

He actually just said in disgust that “The Yankees get out of it.”

If that was Cliff Lee last night it would have been and LEE GETS THE DOUBLE PLAY TO END THE INNING! Instead of praising the GREATEST closer of all time he says in disgust the Yankees get out of it. IDK, maybe I am making too big a deal about it.

    • trueblue says:

I am impress with how quick Tim can take the Phillies cock out of his mouth to drop jems like that.

  152. Hugh Jassman says:

Well that half inning got the heart rate up.

  153. charlespoet says:

Yankees need 3 runs and then call it a night for Mo.

  154. ShuutoHeat says:

I wonder, do these assclown fucktard umps ever fear for their own lives?

Because on one hand there are a lot of crazy people out there and on the other there are a whole lot of people who watch baseball out there.

  155. baka nakamura says:

i’d be happy with another run or two after that.

  156. nathan says:

i demand a strike zone as large as a pack of cards and 2 make up calls

these MFers are the best .. Bud Selig should stop going to David Letterman show and attend these god damn games

  157. Ivan says:

    Thanks be to Mo.

  158. danny says:

good job by jeter who got took DOWN by victorino lol

  159. The Three Amigos says:

Thank Mo for Mo’s inducing a rare DP.

  160. BronxBomber44 says:

McCarver just “ughed” in disgust as that ground ball was hit. Rewind if you don’t believe me.

  161. The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

    That’s called a make-up, Joe.

  162. charlespoet says:

This umpiring crew is just fantastic. They should all run for Congress and run this country.

  163. southernyankeefan says:

So thats a big missed call but the one earlier wasnt????

  164. JMK aka The Overshare says:

Well check that out, he’s safe. 1B ump is great!

  165. I guess that was the make up call.

  166. yankees=warriors says:

Love that song in the background with the game replay.

  167. ansky says:

The umps giveth and the umps taketh away.

  168. Riddering says:

Cry me a river. That call wasn’t nearly as bad as the earlier DP call.

  169. ShuutoHeat says:

Oh yea? Big mis-call? How about the other big mis-call we had earlier? FUCK YOU BUCK AND FUCK YOU MCCARVER.

  170. Salty Buggah says:

Bad call. But the bad call for us hurt more.

Cmon FOX, aren’t you going to say that it’s not an easy call now?

  171. JobaWockeeZ says:

Oh STFU, Fox don’t act like the Yanks didn’t have a BS DP play called on them too.

  172. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Buck, STFU…u were not bothered this much when Yankes were sent out of inning..

  173. Craig says:

I think I’m gonna vomit if I have to listen to these two anymore.

  174. Alex will make you pay for hitting his boy.

  175. Bob C says:

bigger missed call utley or damon’s liner?

  176. Arman Tamzarian says:

    You sonofabitch!

  177. pete says:

    makeup call

  178. ansky says:

niiiiice….thats the way to do it Phillies. go ahead and bean us…wake up the Sleeping Giant.

  179. JackISBACK says:

lol, McCarver and Buck analyzing that missed call, while the other much bigger one was just a footnote the next inning. Great. Tex better not be hurt, can’t afford to lose him in the struggling lineup.

  180. MikeD says:

I think it’s time for A-Rod to get his first World Series hit, which should be a homer.

    • Vinny the Bull says:

That’s what he’s thinking too, and that’s why he’s 0-for-the series. He’s not thinking line drive.

  181. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Alex, u r welcome to join the WS anytime u want

  182. Salty Buggah says:

No DP A-Rod…I’d love one of those unclutch 2-run HRs right now.

  183. ansky says:

wow they sure are giving a lot of air time to this sending the runners bullshit.

  184. Will says:

Mo, the bridge to Ace. Wait, what?

  185. Jay says:

Ok…we GET IT McCarver. They should have started the runners. STFU!!!!!!!!

  186. bobtaco says:

    Why is Ace warming?

  187. ShuutoHeat says:

Seriously, whoever fucking thinks Buck and McCarver are pro-Yankees must be fucking retarded or they have their fucking heads so far up their fucking assholes they can’t even reason.

  188. Derby says:

I better not see Aceves in this game

  189. Bob Stone says:

Make up call on that double play me thinks.

  190. Bob C says:

well hopefully A-ROD can start to heat up starting here, if not hopefully he gets going soon and the team can keep em going till then

  191. ansky says:

hmmm…AROD’s helicopter swing is back..not a good sign.

  192. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Girardi will be a 1st manager to lose a job after winning WS if he replaces Mo here with Ace..

  193. Matty Ice says:

Ryan Howard’s nose looks like a cauliflowered ear.

  194. JackISBACK says:

Alex, I know the WS is new to you and all, but the postseason DOES NOT end after the ALCS. Please take note.

  195. Brazilian Yankee says:

Great call ump. That pitch was at least a foot off the plate.

  196. Johnny says:

    that was horse shit

  197. Okay that looked outside to begin with and it took the umprie about 20 minutes to cal it.

  198. Klemy says:

Who is that man and what did he do with Arod?

  199. Hova says:

Damn, A-Rod is off his game in the WS. All he should do tomorrow is bang Kate Hudson. Time to recharge.

  200. Reggie C. says:

Alex is having a disastrous WS.

Phillie’s stadium hopefully puts a charge in him.

  201. Jay says:

High and outside called strike three. Jeebus.

  202. The Three Amigos says:

Alex needs to hit a single and stop swinging for the fences…

  203. Accent Shallow says:

Joe Buck is really pushing the “A-Rod: still an unclutch choker, no matter what he does” storyline.

  204. Derby says:

6 Ks by ARod in 2 games. I know I can’t really be mad because he kind of got us to the World Series, but I only have so much patience.

  205. Drew says:

    Great closeup of Mo’s forehead.

I saw a discoloration he may want to get checked out.

  206. Riddering says:

Look at Matsui: 2 for 2 with a walk. He’s the sneaky killer in the lineup.

  207. nathan says:

    now whos pen was weak?

  208. Jim says:

News flash RAB: We would most likely not be here without A-rod. It’s everyone else’s turn. My gosh how quickly we forget.

  209. cjc says:

with a strikezone like that he’ll go 0 for the WS the fuck blue the fuck

  210. charlespoet says:

    ARod is channeling Swisher.

  211. slappy white says:

    Too many fucking strikeouts

  212. nathan says:

i blame Scioscia… asshole made ARod rusty

  213. Salty Buggah says:

OK, here’s what Alex needs to do . Stop fuckin swinging at those inside pitches. None were strikes right there. Also, stop pulling/swinging at outside pitches.

  214. ShuutoHeat says:

Cano needs to just imagine empty bases when he’s at bat.

  215. AJ says:

C’mon Grit! Line a double into the gap!

  216. Derby says:

    Scouting Report on Gardner:

    1. He’s fast.
    2. He’s fast.

Maybe they’ll get confused and try to pick him off in the batter’s box and throw him something slow over the plate.

  219. DreDog says:

I wonder what that conversation on the mound was like.

  220. JMK aka The Overshare says:

Gardner for the home run! No? Weak hit and he reaches on a single? I’m okay with that.

  221. ansky says:

    This strike zone blows!

  222. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Ump is Madsen’s boyfriend.

  223. Can’t say i didn’t expect that from Gardner. Okay, Mo. Slam it shut.

  224. yankees=warriors says:

    All up to Mo now!
    Go get them~

  225. AJ says:

I don’t care about experience – they are still making mistakes. If you’re going to brag about the umpiring crew, then they shouldn’t make mistakes. Plain and simple.

*Granted, I’d never want to be an umpire. But still, I expect those men who choose to be umps to make good calls.*
