I know this will be a hot-button topic coming up with the CBA approaching, but Bud Selig NEEDS to implement some sort of instant replay. Selig has to do this. There simply is not a justifiable reason for not implementing it.

And, I want a serious crackdown on balls and strikes from a training and performance standpoint as well.
The umps are expected to be 100%. That’s the goal, and it’s not unreasonable. Give them the technology, training, and accountability to make that happen.

Agree totally. I wasn’t in favor of expanding Instant Replay until the HORRIBLE umpiring this entire post season. It has to be implemented immediately.
With HD TV, all these umpiring errors are even more glaring. It makes the umps look ridiculous and incompetent and brings into question the integrity of the game.
We’ve got high tech in our lving rooms with HD TV – We need high tech at the ball park with Instant Replau to complement it.

It was borderline, but the actions of everyone on the field, both Yankees and Phillies, indicate that clearly the only person who thought it was caught was the ump.

Bud Selig better make some serious changes this offseason. time and time again they’ve been ruining calls all posteason long. They’re regularly out of position or quick to make a call. I know some calls have gone our way and some haven’t but it’s ruining the game
Here’s my proposal:
Home plate umpire is replaced by pitch F/X.
The home plate ump is instead in the replay booth, in communication with the umps on the field. When a call is wrong, he tells them to reverse it.
I am all for that use in playoff games.
