Optimism should be a no-brainer in this situation. What, just because AJ sucked, that “proves” the short-rest strategy will make us lose two more games? Get real.

We won 10 more games in a tougher division. We are a better team. Our pitching is better than theirs at this point. Our hitting is probably better, too. We have the ultimate ace-in-the-hole: Rivera. We are at home. Most importantly, we are UP 3-2.

Jeez, lose one game and the sky starts fallling. Puh-lease.

I like the situation we’re in going back to the Bronx:

Pros:
-We’re up 3-2 and have 2 chances to win (hopefully we’ll only need 1)
-We’re adding both Posada and Matsui to the lineup.
-Mo didn’t pitch in game 5. I was worrying about all the wear and tear Joe was putting on him.
-Hughes, Aceves and Robertson all looked good on Tues night.
-Andy is the winningest pitcher in postseason history. This is nothing new for him.
-We took 2 of 3 in Philly
-We essentially took their closer (Lidge) out of the series and made the acting closer (Madson) work hard for Tues nights save. Shaky late inning relief without homefield advantage could be a real achilles heel for the Phils. Who does Manuel go to late in the game if they have a small lead? He’ll be slaughtered either way unless his decision works out. Not a choice I’d want to make.
-If by some chance they win the Phils have noviable starter for 7. It’s either Hamels who has publicly stated he can’t wait for the season to be over and stunk it up in game 3. Or Happ who hasn’t pitched more than 3ip in over a month. I’ll take CC and committee against that any day.

Cons:
-Andy isn’t getting any younger. Three days rest should be viewed with a lil apprehension. He should be on a short leash.
-Tex still isn’t hitting.
-Utley has been monstrous
-Never thought I’d say this but I think Melky’s bat will be missed at the bottom of the order in the late innings. He has been surprisingly clutch all season.

Rose, you went for the cheap laugh and hurt my feelings. Shame on you. The “0 for the WS Statement” was metaphorical not literal. Cano and Tex have basically had 0 impact so far. If Victorino can’t throw or swing a bat or is impaired in doing so that is BIG so think about it.
