Yeah well when you mix religion into the whole quantum physics thing, things get rather complicated.

I'm really not sure what is most preferable, Damon + Matsui or Damon + Cameron. It would be nice to have all 3, honestly.

I need to find a baseball salary calculator on the internet so I can do the math on that.

LOL. If you debated me about quantum physics, I'd BEG for an agreement to disagre-my introduction to this came on a baseball forum.

Anyway, yeah.

I agree with you about the 2010 team. I also like the chances of at least Joba having a very good year. I am a big proponent of signing Cameron, IF we don't bring Matsui back. I'd rather bring Matsui back.

I'm fairly sure this will end up in us politely agreeing to disagree - and this is primarily a forum for baseball conversation - so umm...

Yeah, I've realized now that 2010 is a year where we have the ability to make some more accurate evaluations of the current talent in the organization, both in the majors and minor leagues. As long as we get one of Damon/Matsui back + Mike Cameron plus Pettitte, I think the 2010 team has a chance to be better than the 2009 team. Its probably worth it to pass on major acquisitions so that you can act accordingly in 2011 and 2012, where you may or may not need to dip into the FA market for another outfielder, a catcher, more starting pitching, etc.

If we see improvement from Cano, Melky, Joba, and Hughes and A-Rod is good for 145+ games, I like this team's chances. I'd pencil Jeter in for a career-average season.

In all seriousness-The existence of God had something to do with the great organizer of all these sperate threads of space-time.

Does that mean there is a God? No, and according to my old theology teacher, God cannot be proven scientifically. But there is something to the idea that one war or another, the omniverse was organized, and there is a very real pattern to it-how that pattern got there is left to the belief systems of people.

Well as long as you read it on the intergoogle it must be true.

To each his own. As long as people can find comfort or understanding in their beliefs and it doesn't interfere with the decisions of others, its all good.

Seems to me like a cheap way of excusing yourself for a non-vote and passing the buck onto the next guy. If I was Edgar Martinez, I wouldn't exactly be impressed by Buster Olney's attempt at praise.

To be clear, I agree with Buster that Edgar isn't quite HOF worthy.I just wish he would man up to his decision. By not voting for the guy, that's a clear action demonstrating his disinclination towards Martinez being a member of the HOF.

I guess Olney just wants to do his best to avoid having awkward moments in the future with him.

Actually, believe it or not the concept of quantum physics does not necessarily deter from religion.

I know this because wikipedia says so. Or youtube. Or givoogle. I don't remember which, but I definitely read it, that the existence of God is not proven or disproven either way by quantum physics.

Yes. Or something.

A belief system influenced by religion can certainly affect one's perception of all of this information.

I still don't have a problem with it. He showed that Martinez was a great player for a while, but not a Hall of Famer in his eyes (citing the RBI stuff), adding that he was a "tremendous representative of baseball" and a "tremendous pro, someone who represented the game well and who always treated teammates and reporters well."

I take it as Olney saying Edgar's a great guy who didn't do enough to get into the HOF, but he'd be happy for him as a person if he got in.
