With engineering like YouTube, cameras and on the web picture galleries improving each of the time, it's no wonder that no person goes to their regional video clip retailer anymore for any "blue movies" or even purchasing porn magazines. Which is simply because all of the naughty imagery which they could ever want is closer to them then their very own doorstep. Why are leading porn stars' movies in need?

Artist - - You've got it wrong - - Matsui's contract did not cost the Yanks more than he was worth, in any sense of the word....in effect, they made MORE in TV & advertising revenues from the Japanese market than they paid him, in every year of his contract - - making his NET cost to them negative....If Matsui goes away (which I dearly hope he does NOT) that revenue goes away; Matsui is, in that sense, in a category unlike any other player, except Ichiro & Dice-K (and that's where that revenue is going to go, if the Yanks don't sign Matsui, is to whoever does, plus to the (choke) Red Sox & the Mariners!!

I agree with almost everything you said but this part was a tad harsh and overstated:

"The reality is the Yanks got screwed on his last contract."

He put up good numbers most of the time, he got hurt, but still had productive years all but the one year he missed tons of time. Hell the man even apologized for getting hurt.
With all that said I agree with the logic of your post. One year DH worthy contract, nothing more.

BTW-"screwed" is a poor choice of words. Let's just say his last deal "didn't work out for the team" when you look at it in its entirety.

I think the market for his services will be very limited, and Cashman knows it. If he wants to come back, it will be for a low base, incentive-laden deal like Andy signed this year. Or I think Cash will pass. Even if he comes back, he's looking at being DH 3-4 times a week and a bench player otherwise. They don't have a full time spot for him.

I have no problem with the Yanks playing hardball with him. The reality is the Yanks got screwed on his last contract. They paid him top dollar as productive 'Iron Man' and he was hurt for much of the deal. From their perspective, they lost money on his last deal. And Hideki has never left a penny on the table, he was very hard line in his last negotiations with the team. That's OK, but don't expect the Yanks to be Mr Nice Guy and give him a 'thank you' deal this time around. He wants to come back, he'll have to be the one who gives in at the bargaining table. It's an open question whether or not he'll do that, he's never done it before.

I put my early morning posts on the previous HOF thread. For this one, has there ever been a DH who cannot run or field win an MVP? Matsui is a limited player who fits best with the Yankees for 2010. He and his agent know it and I predict he will be back...

Not many early rising RAB'ers. Will be heading back to bed myself.

I'd love to see them bring Hideki back.
