World Series chat this afternoon

By Mike Axisa

So … how’d your weekend go? I’m pretty sure my heart rate has finally stabilized after Game Four last night, so I think I can make it through this chat this afternoon. Let’s do this thing at 1pm ET. See you there.

cor shep says:

Man, when Joba let up that homerun my heart dropped… The only thing I could think of was how bad it would be tied 2-2 and not up 3-1 with Lee tonight. Whew good thing our offense owns Lidge. What a game!

I love these chats, and am pumped to have hopefully our second to last one at 1!!

You should never doubt this team. Not even after we give up a game tying home run in the bottom of the 8th did I think we were going to lose.

cor shep says:

Oh I never doubted them, as I’ve been voting a 10 for the last 5-6 weeks. Just saying, being up 3-1 >>>>>> tied at 2-2. You have to agree with that lol. Never said I thought we’d lose.

TSJC.. wtf is with the Jets and why do they always do this to their fans?

Mike Pop says:

The Jets are just going through a bad phase with some coach mistakes and rookie qb mistakes. They’ll be fine, plus losing Kris Jenkins sucked hard.

cor shep says:

losing leon sucked a lot as well

Both of those are correct answers.

To put it diplomatically, I was not very happy with the way that game was officiated in the second half. The second Ted Ginn runback was sparked by a clear and blatant block in the back which was not called; Davone Bess fumbled and we recovered but the refs missed it (although, that one is on us, because we should have challenged); and the illegal shift penalty on the 2-point conversion is 100% pure horseshit.

That being said, we had a shot at the doorstep to win it and couldn’t. Came up short. Credit the Dolphins DL, whom we outplayed for most of the game but who came up with key blitzes at key moments to stop critical conversions.

AJ Burnett's Chin Music ensemble says:

Hey J-Roll…thanks for letting us stick around for game 5…it was a great one…you’ll be lucky if we let YOU stick around for 6…Yankees #1.. Phillies smell like #2

cor shep says:

Remember that Phillies newspaper that said “Yanks avoid sweep” after the game 2 win. haha good times.

John says:

Results not withstanding, I thought Mariano looked awful last night. Does the pitch data on those nine pitches show any big differences from normal, not worked-to-the-bone, Mariano?

Tom Zig says:

He used 8 pitches to get 3 outs…what’s awful about that

John says:

Like I said, not withstanding the results, the velocity looked down, the pitches were dropping in as opposed to cutting, and he didn’t look comfortable at all. I was asking if anyone looked at the pitching data to see if there is any support for what I observed during the broadcast.

Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

I’m sorry but this is utterly insane. All three of those outs were classic mariano. He’s fine.

ShuutoHeat says:

So has there been any announcement on the issue of opening the stadium up for game 5?

UWS says:

I just called and they said it’s not open tonight. Sad panda.

Andy in Sunny Daytona says:

They can not risk the Yanks winning and the fans going mad and tearing the fancy seats.

Raf says:

i believe they have a no rioting policy in the moat.
too bad though, would be great to see them clinch in the Stadium tonight.

ShuutoHeat says:

Bah, that sucks. They probably think that no one is going to show up on a weekday….true Yankees fans would try to go regardless weekday or weekend.

Raf says:

people would definitely show up. they had like 7,000 people the first time they did it and that was a 4pm start on a Monday.
