Justin says:

Let’s hope so, Mike.

DFD says:

it’ll be a battle, i hope so

Rose says:

Looks like Gaudin would have been a better choice after all LOL

pat says:

We have no way of knowing that. I still doubt it very highly. Gaudin gets murdered by lefties and is a journeyman pitcher. The odds of him doing better than even this are low.

Rose says:

You think with more rest AJ would have been better off on Wednesday? Or was it just part of the pattern…

AJ just struggles sometimes. He’s still a way better option than Gaudin.

pat says:

At least we get Posada’s bat…

chriskeo says:

Mike, I was really hoping that wouldn’t be necessary in the World Series.

Jim says:

People: This does NOT settle the AJ on short rest debate. Gaudin could have done the same thing. What this settles is what we already knew, AJ has days where he just doesn’t have it. This was one of those days.

It’s 5-1. Cliff Lee is not dominating right now. We WILL score more than 1 run tonight, and our pen is fully capable of keeping us in this. Have some fucking faith.

DFD says:

agreed, it’s far from over

Rose says:

Tex and Cano need to start hitting first

Frank Fernandez says:

So it’s reasonable to expect he would have crapped the bed like this at home on five days rest?

(It’s settled.)

Jim says:

It’s reasonable to expect that he’s had horrible starts on full rest before, and was fully capable of shitting the bed on any amount of rest.

I seriously hope you were being sarcastic or communicating poorly and agreeing with me somehow.

Frank Fernandez says:

Um, no. You’re seriously wrong.

Jim says:

Um. I’m done with you. Look at his fucking season before you spout nonsense.

April 25th on full rest: 5 innings 8 runs
June 9th on full rest: 2.2 innings 5 runs
August 1st on FULL REST: 4.2 innings 7 runs

AUGUST 22nd on FULL REST: 5 innings 9 runs

What the hell are you talking about. Use fucking google.

Also, the 6 runs he gave up to the Pacific Time Zone Angels in the ALCS? That was on full rest.

andrew says:

Just because he’s sucked on full rest doesn’t mean that starting him on short rest didn’t contribute to him sucking tonight.

The stats you provide don’t prove anything…

Actually, no, he’s seriously right.

AJ is inconsistent. It’s his crutch. He’s prone to laying an egg at any time. Nothing in this game proved that he was bad due to fatigue. He was just bad.

Correlation does not imply causation.

dalelama says:

But now Andy and CC have to go on three days rest…if Gaudin did no worse than Burnett we would have been better off pitching Gaudin.

andrew says:

This goes back to the Burnett to Molina thing. Is Burnett capable of throwing a bad start to Molina and a good start to Posada? Yes. But does it seem likely that Molina increases the chance of Burnett throwing a good game? Yes.

Could Gaudin have shit the bed? Yea. Could Burnett have shit the bed on full rest? Yea. But is it possible that pitching on short rest increased the chance of him shitting the bed? Yea.

Jim says:

Yes. it’s POSSIBLE. but because of a huge sample of sporadically horrible, unpredictable starts, it’s just as likely that this was one of those starts. By no means does it “prove” anything.

andrew says:

But if over a huge sample of starts, there was no difference between starting on 3 days rest and starting on 4 days rest, why wouldn’t everyone be starting their best 3 guys in the postseason on 3 days rest every time?

Jim says:

Look. I didn’t say its not possible. I said nothing, by any means, was proven. You can’t prove a negative.

Are you saying that it was 100% because it was on 3 days rest? No, you’re not. so basically, since neither of us can prove anything, I’m going with the huge history of inconsistency.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Jay says:

Oh well. There’s still time if they can limit the damage.

Doug says:

Seriously. It’s only the third inning.

This performance by AJ was regrettable, but Girardi still absolutely made the right call in giving him the start on short rest.

The decision was sound, the results were simply subpar.

Tom Zig says:

starting molina may not have been though

That ship has long since sailed. And furthermore, to this point, it’s fairly moot. Molina has one bad plate appearance, but has been sharp blocking balls and delivered a strike to Jeter that should have nailed the runner if only Jeter would have hung onto it. He’s playing well so far.

Brazilian Yankee says:

It was a good risk to take, I’ll give you that.

That being sad, it wasn’t the right decision. How can you look at a 2IP+ 5ER (so far) performance and say it was the right move?

I hope you’re not expecting an actual response from me.

I don’t speak to you. YOU’RE FUCKING INSANE. You’re permanent persona non grata to me. Enjoy the silence.

Russell NY says:

I never want to see Molina catch Burnett again. That should no longer be a discussion.

Zack says:

It’s not really a debate anymore, this is AJ’s last start of 2009, and Molina is gone after this season.

Klemy says:

Agreed 100%. If it hasn’t been proven now, it never will be.

At least Posada will be in now.

Reggie C. says:

Joker, The says:

This sucks. Fuck you AJ. And now Andy has to go on short rest too….ugh fuck.

pat says:

game’s over u should probably leave.

Reggie C. says:

Game’s not over.

Phillies likely score another run here. fine.

wiht posada in the game now and Lee not looking his sharpest , we can still make up this deficit?

i realize you were kidding with Joker man, but i just had to type this out to feel better.

TheLastClown says:

Damn everybody. It’s the third. They can score 5 runs. They scored 7 last night.

Lee has thrown 50 pitches, hasn’t looked too sharp.

Phillies’ bullpen is eminently hittable.

This is far from over. Fuck Wednesday. Yanks in…right now.

D M says:

Someone hasn’t seen this lineup

Someone doesn’t care about this lineup. We’re still the best team in baseball. No deficit is too large.

TheLastClown says:

Not to mention that Posada will be in shortly, and Matsui will get an at bat when the moment’s right.

Bobtaco says:

AJ really shit the bed though… not unexpected.

I worried about Andy on three days rest.

Pasqua says:

Please don’t start. If they lose this game, there’s gonna be, like, 48 hours of people saying that. Let’s just watch baseball.

Dela G says:

wow that really sucked

Pasqua says:

On the brightside: AJ’s available out of the ‘pen back in NY! Huzzah!

Obnoticus says:

6 more innings to bring home the bacon

JMK aka The Overshare says:

If we lose this game no doubt all of the questions will be about how stupid Girardi is for putting AJ out on three-days rest.

It was the right move, even though it didn’t work out. AJ looked great in Game 2, has a history of success on three days rest, and the alternative is terrible against lefties and hasn’t pitched in a month.

Just because something doesn’t work out doesn’t mean it was the wrong decision.

Pasqua says:

Exactly. And, still, you give me a series lead with Pettitte and CC, in NY no less, I’ll take it.

But, I suppose we should see what unfolds tonight.

ansky says:

Damn, thats 2 consecutive starts where AJ cant close out the clinching game.

Bob C says:

really bad performance there by AJ… was he just gased?

Pasqua says:

Location, location, location.

And…

No bite, no bite, no bite.

Mike bk says:

so we are incapable of 5 runs in 6 innings?

Zack says:

yes, this offense is pathetic. we’re now witnessing a real offense on the other team

/brazilian yankee’d

Brandon says:

so safe to say the bad aj showed up tonight?

D M says:

Brilliant. Now pettitte on 3 days against a team with momentum

Justin says:

Obnoticus says:

OH NOES, WE LOST THE SERIES! Cmon, have some faith man. We can take this

Zack says:

a. the game is not over so you cant say they have the momentum
b. if phillies win, yankees will have to beat either Pedro or Hamels at home

advantage: yankees

Pasqua says:

Jesus, man. Are you serious?

Mike bk says:

this zone is ridiculous.

ShuutoHeat says:

Sad Lidge appearance later tonight? Highly probable.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Doubt it. Madson.

How was that not a strike?

X says:

Now we have to hear Francesa tomorrow

Zack says:

Or you dont turn him on, just a thought.

No you don’t, unless you are picking up WFAN through your fillings.

Russell NY says:

Ugh I know, which is why I won’t turn the radio on at work.

Hova says:

What’s the best way for Joe to manage this BP tonight? Limit pitches and innings to make sure they’re all available for a possible game 6 Wednesday?

I’m just concerned about not having a fresh bullpen if Andy blows up in a potential game 6.

Stadium Garlic Fries says:

We are still in this game folks and lead series 3-1..calm down..Burnett imploding has nothing to do with 3 days rest,.

pete says:

maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. but gaudin’s exceptionally forseeable implosion would have had everything to do with his general mediocrity and not having started in over a month.

pete says:

PANNICCC!!!! THE YANKEES ARE NO LONGER CAPABLE OF WINNING THE WORLD SERIES!!!11ONEEEE!!!

Doug says:

Texting my physical address

The side gate by the pool is unlocked and the dogs are chained up in the backyard

Oh god I’m so sorry

Randy A. says:

That wasnt a strike?

cjc says:

I said earlier to my friends up 3-1 I would have never thrown AJ short free game IMO have him locked an loaded for 6. However I never thought he would be this bad at all I figured 5 or 6 innings 4 runs. Hopefully the pen keeps it close enough for us to peck away

Brandon says:

how do you know he wouldnt do this in game 6? just because he “rested” an extra day doesnt mean he’s “locked and loaded”

never give a “freebie”

and as everyone else is saying…3rd inning, lets see what happens

Why would you put Gaudin out there, though? Why not put the best pitcher possible out there?

pete says:

yeah true, there would not have been any significant chance of burnett sucking on full rest, since he isn’t the type of pitcher who just randomly sucks sometimes.

YankeeScribe says:

Where’s the strike zone? The umps want the Phillies to win.

DFD says:

fox needs a stat for pitchers starting on short rest when their opponent has pancakes for breakfast, they conveniently have a stat for everything else

I wonder how much slower a pitch arrives at the plate from it’s peak velocity when thrown by a pitcher on three days rest? Let’s get FOXTRAK on this immediately.

Jeff Nelson says:

How many innings can Robertson give the Yanks?

Arman Tamzarian says:

Mariano Rivera starts tommorrow, Mario will pitch a perfect game, then ascend to the Heaven’s while Ride the Lightning blares from the speakers

Arman Tamzarian says:

*and he will shorten his name to Mario to make this post work

claybeez says:

Good start K-Rob. Keep it up. Keep it close. Philly fans will be crying when the O starts to roll.

Riddering says:

Am I surprised that people are giving up already even after last night’s game?

Well, yeah, I kind of am.

Pasqua says:

Yeah. I usually keep my mouth shut and can at least understand the frustration, but if you freak out tonight you’re just not paying attention.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Really? You’re surprised?

pat says:

If you’re bitching about game 6 you should just fucking leave. You’re a poussy and an amateur and we have no patience for your garbage.

Alex S says:

woah, hostile much? cuz that’s bush league bro

pat says:

WHERE’S THE FUCKIN GUAC AT BRO??!??!?!

Holy shit, people.

JUST BECAUSE BURNETT DID NOT PITCH WELL TONIGHT DOES NOT MEAN PETTITTE WILL PITCH POORLY IF THERE IS A GAME SIX!

The two have nothing to do with each other. At all.

D M says:

3 days rest doesn’t help. N quit the caps stuff.

Doug says:

wow, thanks so much Internet Cop.

How does A.J.’s pitching imply ANYTHING for Pettitte’s pitching? Answer that. Please.

Tom Zig says:

Caps are used for emphasis, in this case it was necesary

Pasqua says:

4 days rest doesn’t help. There. I just countered your argument.

Pasqua says:

Oh, and you’re fuckin’ with the wrong hombre. You must be new.

TJ says:

Wait wait wait you mean AJ and Andy don’t have a psychic connection?

Rose says:

Then what was the point of posting all those “he’s good on 3 days rest” stats? Pettitte is 37 years old and probably hasn’t pitched on 3 days rest in quite some time…

Because they have at least some value. Saying that Pettitte will pitch poorly because Burnett pitched poorly tonight, as some are saying, has no value.

Salty Buggah says:

Well, Molina again didn’t pitch well.

Jay says:

I would love to see a double play here.

Obnoticus says:

We almost had it. I trust K-Robs

D M says:

The ump is awful. It’s a total squeeze

ShuutoHeat says:

AJ beating himself up on the inside, it’s tough seeing him like that.

Bobtaco says:

Think Girardi should have had a faster hook tonight?

Well, at least Joe Buck woke the fuck up for the 1st time in years.

Why the hell did my post reply to Bobtaco?

Jay says:

It really sucks when a guy hits a cheap grounder like that and it scores a run.

JoeFromBayRidge says:

When will people realize that nothing factors into Burnett’s starts except that he flips a coin before a start. Head = Good AJ. Tails = Bad AJ. He could be on 2 days rest, 8 days rest, starting consecutive games of a day night double header. Just the coin toss.

Alex S says:

where do you live in bay ridge? i’m right near owls head park

pete says:

thank you. there isn’t always a reason why burnett sucks sometimes, or why anything happens in baseball. Personally, I’m pretty sure AJ was just pissed that he had to miss How I Met Your Mother tonight, and couldn’t get over it.

JoeFromBayRidge says:

You know how AJ loves his Barnacle.

JJhammer31 says:

that’s absolutely true. Last week, this guy gave up four runs before recording an out. He’s electrifying when he’s on, but he often doesn’t have it. Hence, the career 4+ era. Better he did this tonight than have gaudin go out there and get killed and then see AJ cough it up in a game 6. Worse case scenario, we need to win one out of two in the stadium against Pedro and Hamels. I like those odds.

natalMike says:

If this game gets out of reach, then it’s time for the drilling. A -Rod deserves payback. Utley’s my pick.

Obnoticus says:

Klemy says:

Yeah, this zone is as bad as last night, only the opposite direction.

Reggie C. says:

We need extra base hits to get back in this game. We’re gonna need contributions from Cano and Gardner to get back in this game.

Why those two? Because you want it to be those two?

C’mon D-Rob, you gotta get the pitcher.

Rose says:

It’s been a pattern of his. The game after that nasty one in Tampa Bay he got slaughtered by the White Sox…it’s just what he does.

Oh noes Girardi is teh idiot for brining in K-Rob1

Brazilian Yankee says:

It doesn’t matter who pitches anymore. Let K-Rob get some work tonight.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Somebody please answer how can a right move not work out? A right move is the one that works out. The wrong one doesn’t work. Starting AJ tonight was the wrong move cause it didn’t work out. You can applaud Girardi for taking the risk, but it doesn’t make the move right.

pat says:
claybeez says:

This is just moronic.

claybeez says:

Evil Empire says:

Hahahaha

/high five

You are constructing your lineup for the World Series. Someone starts Jose Molina over Jorge Posada. So Jose Molina goes 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a HR and a single. Does starting him make it right? No.

Or flip this. You want your best lineup out there. Jorge goes 0-5 and strands 5 runners. It didn’t work out. So sicne it didn’t work out it’s the wrong move and since it’s wrong Jose Molina should be brought in?

Your logic sucks.

toad says:

Ever heard of probabilities? Of course a right move can fail.

Suppose I offer you 2-1 on a coin flip. The right move is to take it, obviously, but you still might lose.

Zack says:

Batting Jeter leadoff and playing SS is the right move, if he goes 0-4 and has 2 errors, was starting Jeter in Game 5 of the WS the WRONG move?

pete says:

this sounds sarcastic, but knowing you, it isn’t. Since the move was made BEFORE the result was known, the result has NOTHING to do with the rightness of the move. All that factors into whether or not a decision was correct is the evidence available pre-decision. Which said that AJ is a good pitcher, who has pitched on 3 days rest before and done well, and Chad Gaudin is a mediocre pitcher who hasn’t started a game in a month and sucks against lefties. the result of AJ’s start tells us that AJ is inconsistent. Which we already knew.

JJhammer31 says:

burnett has to go into the locker room. He’s fucking depressing me.

Jose says:

Mike, you said that same thing in Game 1 of the World Series. They never brought the tying run to the plate. I’m hoping you’re right this time.

cr1 says:

The question of whether Molina can keep Babycakes from imploding had already been asked and answered in previous games, so nothing new learned there.

Luckily Molina won’t start another game as a Yankee and we’ll never have to see another travesty just like this one again. Babycakes will pitch to whoever the starting catcher is on his day, just like any other grownup.

Probably too late to matter, though, that the bottom third of the lineup just got less embarrassing.

Obnoticus says:

AJ didn’t pick Molina to be his caddie; that was Giradi’s call.

Justin R. says:

I wish your post was less embarrassing.

D M says:

Klemy says:

To tire Lee out, we should throw to first 25 times in a row.

Doug says:
Mike Pop says:

+ another 1

That was pretty funny.

Alex S says:

that actually seems like a good idea right about now

Evil Empire says:

Oh well, Bad AJ days happens. All the people I give a shit about seem to agree that Girardi made the right decision so that’s all good. This team is not out of this game, those who got the faith know that shit.

Klemy says:

WHat the fuck was wrong with that pitch!

Hova says:

Good news is Posada will be entering the game shortly.

ansky says:

This strike zone fucking BLOWS!!!

The 0-1 pitch was more of a strike than the 1-1 pitch! This umpire is A W F U L .

TJ says:

Man now McCarver and Buck have more Lee jerk-off material

One more, K-Rob!

Klemy says:

In their trailers with Barry White playing on the CD player, thumbing through the Philly media guide…

Mike Pop says:

Only down 5 runs. Posada is going to come in, the chances don’t look too high but it ain’t over.

D M says:

Someone has to hit utley. Paging bruney…..

Reggie C. says:

Burnett’s ridiculous attachment to Molina lessens him.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

He has none. You are misinformed. Do some reading.

Reggie C. says:

Joe g. is absolutely coddling Burnett.

Mike Pop says:

This statement is ridiculous.

All Girardi.

MikeD says:

Well, Molina almost certainly has caught AJ for the last time. I’m sure the Yankees will part ways with Molina and have Cervilli take over as the back-up catcher next season, and save a couple million in the process.

I think there’s little evidence that AJ pitches better to Molina than Posada. It’s basically a question of timing. Molina happened to catch AJ on more days when his game was on. Posada caught some great games with AJ, but Molina got more of them.

Camilo Gerardo - your inception? fuck perception, go with what makes sense says:

safe to assume AJ won’t take home WSMVP?

Tom Zig says:

Mariano Rivera will

Bobtaco says:

I don’t know how you could have gone to Gaudin since he hasn’t pitched in almost a month. The Yankees didn’t really have a choice…

MikeD says:

It’s just a flesh wound.

Michael Kay says:

I can’t believe Victorino is on deck despite a career threatening hand injury….what a heroic performance.

Doug says:

He’s gonna live forever!

ansky says:

Wow. I know man. That guy’s a hero!

Klemy says:

Is that a bloody batting glove?!?!

pat says:

Love k-Rob and his balls of steel.

ShuutoHeat says:

Liquid nitrogen running through his veins.

Arman Tamzarian says:

Alright, here we go!!!

Rose says:

Burnett still get MVP if we win today? LOL

Arman Tamzarian says:

I’m going with Chase Utley win or lose

ansky says:

nah, Victorino’s hand will win MVP.

Rose says:

He seriously is a beast…I wish our 2nd baseman could hit like that…or hit at all in the postseason…

Salty Buggah says:

Looky there, Rollins sucks without the help of an umpire.

Riddering says:

That was a nice job by D-Rob to get out while only giving up the run at third.

Reggie C. says:

Bullpen mission: HOLD THEM TO SIX RUNS.

We can get back in this game. I know we can.

Reggie C. says:

… AT six runs.

Heh. It’d be pretty terrible if the bullpen coughed up another 6 runs.

Dave G says:

We start the climb back right now.

ansky says:

Damn I’d be freaking pissed about this 5 run deficit….If I wasnt a YANKEES fan!!! C’mon boys lets go get this shit!!!

Alex S says:

maybe AJ can work out of the pen if theres a game on wed?

trueblue says:

How bout…. NO

He is a chump

Mike Pop says:

CC/AJ/Pettitte have all been pretty stellar this postseason.

Due for a bad game.

stuart says:

aj personal catcher can’t pitch on the road came up miniscule tonight.

the ultimate tease burnett what a joke…

aj is a clown, he will break your heart every time.. yea he has pitched a few very good games, and yep he has sucked in 2 in the playoffs…

that is why he is the ultimate cement head tease…..

TheLastClown says:

If he’s pitched a few very good games, how can he break our heart all the…nevermind.

Obnoticus says:

Should we play you some Dashboard Confessional while your cry yourself to sleep? We have a comeback game to watch.

Phil "Bud" Selig says:

The recession has shrunk the strike zone too.

TheLastClown says:

I hate to enjoy this comment.

Hold ‘em and fight back.

If anyone can come back from this deficit, it’s the Yanks.

Obnoticus says:

+1. Never give up.

Rose says:

When I looked up and saw 47 pitches – 24 balls, 23 strikes…I just couldn’t believe it…that’s pretty god awful

Zack says:

Lee: 55 pitches, 30 strikes, 25 balls

Rose says:

Not anymore…he looks like he’s settling in just fine now. It also helps that half our team are in long lasting slumps too…and there’s brett gardner…that helps too haha

Tom Zig says:

All this game means is that the parade will be on Friday…which works out better anyways

Helix C says:

Victorino is tough.

Salty Buggah says:

It’s not fuckin broken, stop talking about his toughness.

ShuutoHeat says:

If it’s not broken and you’re fine, please stop wincing at every little fucking movement you fucking ass clown.

Helix C says:

Just showing his toughness.

DreDog says:

Let’s get to Cliff Lee. That bullpen is scared, except for Mister Spitball.

danny says:

now the dilema. do i shut off the tv and do my paper thats due tomorrow or do i try to multitask and end up doing the paper late at night after a yankee lose?

fuck the paper, i believe in yankee magic! GO YANKEES!

kunaldo says:

molina has to be out now, right? I mean, Posada HAS to pinch hit, no?

Pasqua says:

Odds that Buck / McCarver will ominously remind the audience that the Yanks have no catchers left on the bench when Posada enters?

Reggie C. says:

If pitchers’ AB comes up this inning , who pinch hits? Mats? hairston? save mats for later?

Brittany says:

I wanna see hinske

Hugh Jassman says:

Well, I think a lot of us figured this game would be a loss with Clifford starting. I do kind of wish we could have AJ at home on full rest in game 6 now, and Andy on full rest with CC on short rest in a game 7. Now everyone is burned.

Now everyone is burned.

No. You know who’s burned?

The Phillies, who have to win three games in a row against us, and only get to throw Cliff Lee in one of those three.

I’ll take our odds.

Salty Buggah says:

Man, Lee is getting lucky tonight. So many hard hit outs.

Reggie C. says:

Damn.

Swisher made good contact.

Michael Kay says:

please man have some sensitivity, you can’t use the word CONTACT with the Victorino hand injury so fresh in our minds. You wanna make some 9/11 jokes while you’re here?

Riddering says:

I lol’d. Keep it coming.

Third well struck ball right at someone.

Pasqua says:

Three runs will scare the shit out of the Phillies. Let’s do that, shall we?

Michael Kay says:

how come Girardi is the only manager that has to do these terrible in game interviews?

trueblue says:

Every other manager tells Fox to go screw

putt says:

The rest probably pass it off on their coaches. He seems like someone who wouldn’t do that…maybe a bit of a micromanager?

Every time the Phillies play, we’re going to hear about Shane Victorino’s fingers. It’ll be like Jon Lester and cancer.

Dela G says:

except one actually almost killed someone and one is just something you get over in a week. I am talking about getting hit on the hand and cancer respectively of course…

Evil Empire says:

Its an endless bullshit narrative in the making!

Pasqua says:

I’m getting angry just thinking about it.

pat says:

Haahaha I love how people can come here and definitively say that starting a career journeyman with shitty platoon splits on thirty something days rest was indisputably the better choice over the guy who went 7 ip 1 er 4 days ago.

Unbelievable.

Michael Kay says:

I heard Francesa saying that last night, and I guess I saw the point that Burnett would be available on full rest…but even with tonight’s results I disagree with him because you want Andy & Sabathia for 6 & 7 no matter what, and AJ will be available out of the pen if need be.

Reggie C. says:

That sucks Cano. You just let a good one go by.

Okay, the 2-1 pitch was definitely a strike, but it was called a ball earlier.

Girardi out to the mound says:

Any consideration for screwing the OF defense and having Matsui pinch hit for Gardner

JMK aka The Overshare says:

YankeeScribe says:

Inconsistent strike zone

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Why do they interview the assorted coaches? What are they going to say? “No, that guy is dogshit. In fact, we just didn’t happen to have anyone else who could even reach home plate besides him, so…yeah.”

PsiFighter37 says:

Goddammit Robbie, act like you fucking care. Just swinging the bat like it doesn’t mean a thing.

Doug says:

You believe in the narrative; you fail.

trueblue says:

This is a results game. His results have been shit.

pat says:

because of not caring? You know that for a fact?

trueblue says:

I don’t give a fuck if he cares. He isn’t getting the job done. that is all that matters

Zack says:

Every time someone fails at something it’s because they dont care? That’s a great way to go through life

PsiFighter37 says:

No, I just want to see some passion. He just goes up there, grounds out, runs back to the dugout, ho-hum. I hear about Swisher taking extra BP when he’s in a rut, and at least he’s doing better now. Cano has just been doing terribly…one of his hits in the series was a pop fly to no man’s land.

Just want to see some passion. Not seeing it from Robbie right now.

pat says:

Right he should definitely break his bat, punch a wall kick over a watercooler. Just to make you happy.

Zack says:

Right, and if he kicked and yelled he would be mentally weak, not made for the NY/playoffs, and immature.

Robbie does not have to show passion just to satisfy your desire to see passion.

All he has to do is use his talent and skill to play baseball well. He doesn’t give a shit if you want to see passion, nor do the Yankees, nor do any of the rest of us, for that matter.

Jim says:

He hit it hard. He’s hit the ball hard twice. Sometimes they don’t find holes. It happens.

Arman Tamzarian says:

Right or wrong, there seems to be an excessive amount of bitching about the strike zone from the players

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Cue the Robbie is lazy chatter.

Zack says:
JMK aka The Overshare says:

Am I a prophet or what? Timestamp FTW!

Jose says:

It’s a Dominican thing. I would explain it, but I’m too lazy to. I’ll go back to half-assing all my posts.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Avoid using punctuation next time. That whole thing is undermining your laziness angle.

Mike Nitabach says:

I really wish these fucks would shut the fuck up about Demuth’s fucking strike zone already.

Pasqua says:

You know, blaming AJ Burnett’s performance on 3 days rest is like blaming the damage of a Category 5 hurricane on the fact that it hit Florida on a Tuesday. Shit’s gonna do damage at any given moment, and so it is with AJ.

Evil Empire says:

Agreed, good analogy. At least AJ is a hurricane who fucks up the other team’s shit most of the time.

Evil Empire says:

Or is that a metaphor? I’m fucking stupid with shit like that.

Pasqua says:

Simile, baby. Simile. But also an analogy. Full credit.

crapula says:

So to feel better, we yell at each other. Nice.

We yell at people who say dumb shit. If they didn’t say dumb shit, we wouldn’t yell.

Should I smile at my dog when he shits in the den?

trueblue says:

What a fucking joke.

Mike Pop says:

you’re talking bout yourself?

OK, I can see that.

trueblue says:

OK. please explain to me howan absolute massive fucking turd from your 16 million dollar pitcher isn’t a joke?

Reggie C. says:

Cano’s current futility is maddening.

He’s gotta hit tonight in order to get back in this game.

pat says:

2 hard hit balls, right at people.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

He’s partially a victim of bad luck. He hit some balls hard last night, and of course some shitty bloop fell.

Still, he’s been pretty bad.

MikeD says:

It’s only five runs if we can hold it here. Need the bullpen to hold the line, but we also can’t burn out the pen.

I’m still waiting for an explanation from someone. How does Burnett’s performance tonight hold any predictive value for Pettitte’s possible Wednesday performance?

rafael says:

’cause they said so on TV…

??

Mike Pop says:

It tells me Phillies have the edge in the series.

ansky says:

remember when Girardi’s move to take K-Rob out and bring in Aceves gave the Angels the edge and momentum?

TheLastClown says:

Cause, you know, Burnett’s a Yankee pitcher, & three days rest, & um…it’ll be Wednesday, and Pettitte’s old & lefty…and blah blah blah blah blah ok…..how bout this.

Yankees win tonight.

Andy on 6 months rest in April.

MikeD says:

It doesn’t. Pettitte will be fine.

Evil Empire says:

reckon ’cause they both done got 3 days rest

Pasqua says:

Because Andy’s 37! 37!!! If a young buck like AJ can’t deliver, how can Andy?! Aghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

JMK aka The Overshare says:

The same way me masturbating onto my stomach can get my blowup doll pregnant.

Stadium Garlic Fries says:

If game gets further out of hand, does Joe bench Cano and put Pena to send a message? he looks so lost and not interested

vin says:

Can we send him to Scranton for the off-day tomorrow?

Zack says:

yeah he’s not into World Series baseball, pissed he’s missing the Dominican Winter League practice

No.

And, no to all of your judgments. Cano might be lost. He’s most certainly interested. Saying he’s not is ridiculous. He’s a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees who works hard at his craft and wants very badly to win his first World Series ring.

Right in on Victorino’s hands, D-Rob.

Matt M. says:

this ump might be worse tonight with that zone

Doug says:

Make Victorino swing!

Doug says:

There you go. He can’t generate any power on contact.

ansky says:

What I cant understand about people criticizing the Burnett move is that everyone who wanted Gaudin to start was reserved to a Yankee loss. So “if” the Yanks lose tonight dont you get the same result you expected? All this does is change the possible game 7 starter. I’m sorry I love Andy but there’s no one I’d rather have starting a game 7 than CC. Because even when he struggles we still WIN.

Obnoticus says:

+1. Though if we started Gaudin tonight with Andy going for #7 wouldn’t CC still be available out of the pen for that game?

Raf says:

this.
no matter what they say (and some people did), they wanted Gaudin to start so that AJ wouldn’t match up with Lee and lose even with a quality start. and now they’re flipping out which makes no sense.

Zooboy says:

Great point. I was fence-sitting on this one until I read your post.

TJ says:

Why are they still talking about it if there’s no break in Victorino’s hand?

Mike Pop says:

Cause that dude has heart for playing through this injury.

Doug says:

His sheer grit calls for, nay, DEMANDS your attention.

pat says:

Hahah Melk sippin hot chocolate.

Doug says:

ShuutoHeat says:

Give him a break man he had a tough night jumping up and down int he dug out, lol.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Wrong. It’s hot milk.

Doug says:

D-Rob solves Utley. Wow.

JJhammer31 says:

who remembers game 4 in 1996. kevin brown gives up 6 in the first two innings. Leyritz sends a Wohlers slider deep into the night and the Yanks win it in extra innings. Shit, we’re only down 5.

trueblue says:

It was Kenny Rogers

Michael Kay says:

Joe Buck don’t let these alleged “x-rays” showing no break fool you. What do THEY know? Right? You saw Shane’s face on that swing, you know the truth. And you also must know that we don’t have the power to fight this battle, but you do Joe Buck, you do. You’re a big famous TV guy with guts & a microphone and a national audience. LEAD US JOE! FOR THE HAWAIIAN!

JJhammer31 says:

So do you think they’ll give D-Rob another inning?

No, he’s due up next inning.

nick says:

I doubt it…maybe I’m wrong, but down 5 I think they won’t want to give a free out. Some pinch hitter…

JJhammer31 says:

I think we’re looking at the closer of our future. (hopefully, that future doesn’t start until 2015)

charlespoet says:

Still early but celebrating in the Boogie Down is not a bad option. Yanks will come back.

Vinny the Bull says:

K-Rob is the real deal.

Mike Pop says:

True that.

The the bridge, the bridge!

Camilo Gerardo - your inception? fuck perception, go with what makes sense says:

i still don’t understand how AJ couldn’t get the fastball down. whatevs.. let’s go Yankees!!!!!!!!1

Riddering says:

D-Rob is the fucking man.

Obnoticus says:
