CanoFTW says:

dammit – arod just missing that hanging slider…

Dela G says:

almost had that one

But Mike the rule is the Phillies only need to touch the 3rd base line to score. Home plate is a formality.

Jay says:

And Joe Blanton is terrific so Howard doesn’t have to touch home.

DreDog says:

But wait, didn’t the ball beat him? Therefore, he’s out.

Come on DreDog that only applies to Yankee baserunners.
Different rules for different teams eg strike zones.

DreDog says:

Dang. I forgot that part of the rule.

BigBlueAL says:

Im still waiting for Tex to get a hit w/RISP this postseason.

Mike Pop says:

…Still waiting for people to stop harping on the negatives.

Bryan says:

I’m still waiting for this damn burrito to cook in the microwave!

Brazilian Yankee says:

We should have gotten more runs there. Our numbers 3 and 4 hitter let Blanton off the hook.

ansky says:

/Dennis Green’d

Salty Buggah says:

Damnit, we got 2 fuckin runs. Aren’t you happy with that? Don’t be greedy.

dalelama says:

Tex, Arod, and Cano are like 3 for 36….frustrating

Pasqua says:

Well, if Tex or A-Rod had driven in runs the game wouldn’t be close, and it therefore would not induce a heart attack in all of us. So, really, this is just about what we should expect.

Evil Empire says:

2 runs is … acceptable. But we could’ve gotten more. Many more innings for that though, CC is ready to clamp this motha down.

rob says:

Riddering says:

He’s going to do it after the game, Chambliss style.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Am I the only one who thinks Avatar looks stupid?

Pasqua says:

For a movie that took 10 years to conceive and make, it looks REALLY stupid.

donttradecano says:
Pasqua says:

Yes. I’ve read all about the new technology that Cameron developed to make it and, to be honest, I just see an animated movie in the trailer. Maybe I’ll be wrong.

Jose says:

It cost over $300 million to make, that is insane. It would be funny if it was a Waterworld like flop.

Frigidevil says:

Army tries to take over a group of people who won’t die. Decide to send someone over there to learn about them. Finds out they aren’t savages. Ponders if killing them is wrong. Decides to switch sides. What an original plotline that I’ve never ever heard before.

The Only Yankee Fan in Nebraska says:

Am I the only one who’s tired of seeing clips of it from watching Fox all day?

JMK aka The Overshare says:

baka nakamura says:

Joker, The says:

Jose says:

No, looks like a film that probably has a massive budget and is going to be terrible.

Klemy says:

It looks like tonight’s strikezone.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Best comment so far!

Bob C says:

you are all clearly unsatisfiable people, as movies go this looks amazing, and if the plot is good it will be

Salty Buggah says:

At least we got 2 runs after they tied it so that’s good. This is all on CC to hold it there now.

Jake H says:

I don’t know why they have thrown Howard any fb. He hasn’t come close to a breaking ball. I do think the O will add some more runs.

I know we are winning, but I have not enjoyed this game. Maybe because CC has looked a bit off, maybe because of the zone, maybe because of the whole “the Yankees have a huge advantage in this game” thing.

I’d really like to see some clean innings here from CC.

Pasqua says:

All of the above. It’s the “the Yanks will totally win this game” analysis that drives me especially insane.

Salty Buggah says:

Not good fastball command.

BigBlueAL says:

Agreed. Plus it feels like they let the Phillies off the hook in the 1st and 5th innings.

donttradecano says:

blanton with the pine tar. wheres halos heaven?

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Thanks for the insightful information, Joe.

Mike Pop says:

Lol Cano.

Just ran right past it.

Damn, almost Robbie.

Salty Buggah says:

Damnit Robbie. You had that.

bobtaco says:

Cano doing it with the bat and the glove…

JackC says:

I’m starting to come around with the idea of giving Hairston a start at 2nd, just to wake Cano up

Pasqua says:

Milt Thompson looks like he could still play.

MikeD says:

When the over-50 league starts, we have our man.

Klemy says:

No Charlie again. lol Hello Milt!

I was blasting my music and somehow I heard an over ecstatic Joe Buck coming to a ground ball hit. Wow…

Salty Buggah says:

This is why he has a negative UZR. He’ll get to a lot of balls but can’t make the play on them

Klemy says:

We might need those 2 runs right now.

Mike Pop says:

Na. Phils won’t get a run this inning.

Pasqua says:

ansky says:

I wonder when Robbie is going to feel like playing in this series.

Jake H says:

cc hasnt looked sharp in this series

baka nakamura says:

manuel’s mouthpeices.

c’mon cc.

Brazilian Yankee says:

CC hasn’t looked good at all against the Phillies.

And yet, they’re winning the game, and the series. Amazing.

Mike Pop says:

7 innings and 2 runs the first game isn’t good?

Chris says:

Sabathia has a lower ERA in the WS against the Phillies than he did in the regular season, yet people still aren’t happy.

Joe D. says:

Manuel should take lessons from his hitting coach on not saying dumb ass things. Nice job, Milt.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Eh, his colostomy bag probably just burst. Give the guy a break!

Salty Buggah says:

Cmon CC. You just got back the lead man. Settle down.

cjc says:

JGS says:

cmon CC, keep poundin the corner! get em to chase one outside

Evil Empire says:

bobtaco says:

don’t put two on for Utley, come on…

Reggie C. says:

Just got back from a birthday dinner.

I’ve missed the entire game.

Sooooo , have we been cheated of a run or 2 yet?

Klemy says:

CC pitched well in game 1. He might not have had everything, but I’d take 7 innings and 2 runs any day.

bobtaco says:
Mike Pop says:

Not as awesome as Caray.

PsiFighter37 says:

Well, this isn’t good. Can I has a GIDP?

Phillies fans treating that walk as if it tied the game.

baka nakamura says:

blood pressure rising.

charlespoet says:

Time to get the pen up and running.

Mike Pop says:

Too soon in my opinion.

cjc says:

JackHammer says:

everyone always wants to do things the hard way.

Salty Buggah says:

Need a DP here for CC. Somehow. Anyway. Please!!!!

southernyankeefan says:

Oh boy this is not a situation i wanted to see.

Brian says:

Settle down CC! Get a DP here!

DGeezy says:

cmon CC, now would be a great time for a ground ball double play

Dave G says:

The damn daily news fifth inning.

slappy white says:

i was just thinking that ….fuckin fiensand

crapula says:

I seriously have no f’ing clue what you people want.

Mike Pop says:

People complain about how our team just got 2 runs in one inning.

Joe D. says:

They want a 50-0 lead in the first inning. Else, commence bitching.

Jake H says:

Throw strikes with your offspeed stuff.

AJ says:

baka nakamura says:

love to see porn hair strike out here.

Mike Pop says:

Klemy says:

Yeah, I’m thinking getting out of this with no runs scored might be tough.

Mike Pop says:

Strikeout, strikeout, pop up.

Maybe not in that order.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

I feel the GiDP right here.

Salty Buggah says:

Jorge set up in. CC threw away (but got a strike anyway). That’s not good. He needs his command.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Quickly 0-2. Put him away, no screwing around.

Joker, The says:

Why can’t it ever be easy? -_-

Chef says:

b/c the phillies are a great team.

southernyankeefan says:

Ok 0-2 no fastball down the middle this time.

bobtaco says:

Keep going outside. Pleeeeze…

Chef says:

I want a triple play… nothing less.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

We’re not playing the Mets.

MikeD says:

The only game I went to at Citi Field this year was the unassisted triple play. If I’m going to a Met game, might as well see something I’ve never seen before.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Haha, that’s great. It is the Mets, though, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened 10 games a year.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

I know he kills us, but Utley has to be the most likable Phillie, right?

Mike Pop says:

Him and cliff Lee.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Yeah, forgot about Lee. Solid guy, it seems.

HolyGhostClaw says:

Yep, Charlie “Cousin-Fucker” Manuel couldn’t do it.

He sent one of his coaches to do the interview.

slappy white says:

id be surprised if he could find a cousin to fuck him

AJ says:

I honestly think it’s because Manuel is a terrible public speaker. He’s a bright guy, but he’s a terrible speaker. It would probably embarrass him too much to do it.

Salty Buggah says:

A do-over? That’s calling time. Not a do-over

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Okay, so now we just don’t throw any fastballs to Howard.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

My bad on the reply fail.

JackHammer says:

for what its worth, we’ll score another 4 runs before this game is over.

Salty Buggah says:

I predicted a 8-3 win so yea that works.

baka nakamura says:

Brazilian Yankee says:

PsiFighter37 says:

Salty Buggah says:

Huge out there. DP please.

Klemy says:

That’ll do CC. I’d even take 2 more of those.

Klemy says:

and now 1 more of those.

There we go Carsten.

Evil Empire says:

Papa Bear is still in command right here. He won’t give this one up.

Joe D. says:

Nice job, Sabathia. Keep it rollin’

Dela G says:

wow they got utley out on popup

V says:

JackHammer says:

wow. howard couldn’t hit that if he threw it 15 times

JackHammer says:

i love being right.

Vinny the Bull says:

He keeps hanging that slider, and eventually it’s going to go a long way.

Mike Pop says:

Why no triple play?

Brazilian Yankee says:

ANOTHER GREAT PITCH!

chriskeo says:

Did the ump call infield fly rule on the Utley pop up?

baka nakamura says:

PsiFighter37 says:

Where’s the Howard choke artist articles?

Esteban says:

Joe Buck is disappointed by Ryan Howard

Salty Buggah says:

Another big out there. One more CC.

V says:

e mills says:

we need to get a grassroots organization started ASAP to deal with umps, commentators, and probably a bunch of other things right now

Esteban says:

Fatalistic Yankees fans (adding to the list)

C’mon, please no more two out runs.

Joe D. says:

Oh Carsten, my Carsten!

One more!

Dave G says:

One more big man.

Chef says:

be verrry careful here with werth…

slappy white says:

thats 2 big man….pleeeease be careful with this fuck

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Ugh, shave your soul patch, you sleazebag.

At this point I’m more scared of Werth than Howard.

Esteban says:

esp. agaisnt a lefty

Esteban says:

Swisher’s definitely having better ABs

Esteban says:

why does this HAPPEN??

Joe D. says:

I gotta commend the Yankee fans chanting their balls off in hostile territory — especially in Philly. Takes some cojones.

V says:

Yup. I love the “How may I help you?” Yankee Stadium signs also.

Evil Empire says:

A high tolerance to getting beer spilled on you, too.

Mike Pop says:

Can Tim McCarver just announce the game and not input any of his knowledge.

Mike Pop says:

Let’s make him Werthless.

/bad jokes ftw

JMK aka The Overshare says:

MikeD says:

Yes, that was a swing.

I like this 1st base ump. He’s not blind.

Riddering says:

That’s what I’m taking about, DeMuth or whoever.

Joe D. says:

Derek: “CC my man, I got some Minka pie waiting for you if you finish this bitch off.”

Salty Buggah says:

Why do they boo for every little thing? Do they boo their kids for not getting A’s? Boo their bosses for work? Boo after bad sex?

JackHammer says:

no such thing as bad sex

JackHammer says:

at least for a guy.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Jose says:

You obviously don’t know my ex-wife.

slappy white says:

Nobodys kid gets an A in Philly

crapula says:

There’s no booing after bad sex? I’m going to let people know that!

JMK aka The Overshare says:

It’s Philly, the same place where they lowered an F from 65 to 50. So A’s aren’t happening any time soon.

Klemy says:

They wouldn’t dare, because in Philly that stuff is acceptable.

Salty Buggah says:

I can imagine it now. They get laid off. They boo themselves outloud.

JackHammer says:

love that call by the first base ump

Ed says:

I am surprised they gave it to CC.

HolyGhostClaw says:

Hanging Slider there? Phew!!!

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Please do not ever compare Posada with that fucker Tom Brady.

HolyGhostClaw says:

I didn’t think it could, but my hatred for McCarver grew because of that shitty Brady comment.

Fuck McCarver, Brady, Buck and that dirty cousin-fucker Manuel.

PS -Fuck!!!

BigBlueAL says:

Ive been frustrated with the offense but you cant be critical of CC at all tonight. With some help from his D he would be pitching a shutout right now.

cjc says:

Jesus I would boo too

PsiFighter37 says:

NICE, that was clutch.

I love CC Sabathia.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

That’s right, motherfucker!

Klemy says:

CC, you are the man!

MikeD says:

Even when CC gets into trouble, and he struggles a bit, I still always have faith that he’ll get out of it. Nice job, CC.

Accent Shallow says:

CC is a fucking horse. Beautiful.

southernyankeefan says:

baka nakamura says:

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike Pop says:

Mudafuckas need to have faith.

It’s in the bag.

E-ROC says:

JackC says:

Pasqua says:

This feels like a smoke and mirrors performance by CC.

Dave G says:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ansky says:

FUCK YEAH!!!!! I just wet my pants!

kunaldo says:

love the houdini act

Dela G says:

Brazilian Yankee says:

That was a beauty. What a changeup.

JSquared says:

Get a Haircut, than get some skills werthless.

bobtaco says:

I think CC can get through 6 now. Then you have Joba, Marte and 4 outs for Mo?

goose says:

Can someone put some battery acid in McCarver-bitch’s coffee?
(He has cop hair also)

Evil Empire says:

Yeah that timeout was obviously not a pointless endeavor.

Nice to see Posada show some poise and make sure the right pitch was thrown to get out of the 5th.

TIME TO OPEN THIS ONE UP.

Mike Pop says:

One more inning from CC?

PsiFighter37 says:

Yeah, I think he’s at around 90 pitches now. One more, then time to turn it over to the ‘pen. Maybe we can get some Robertson?

Pasqua says:

Depends on the ease of the next one, I’d bet.

Klemy says:

I’m tired of Cole Hamels commercials and Chevy Malibu. Seriously, fuck them both.

AJ says:

Wow. Great job by CC to get out of that inning. If he could give the Yanks two more quick innings, the team can turn to the ‘pen to get the job done.

EDUB says:

sick strike out right there. these chevy commercials make me want to pull my ears off

Pasqua says:

“I just sucked one year of your life away.”

JGS says:

JMK aka The Overshare says:

Dad wants you to pound the corner. And I thought I had a weird upbringing!

I especially like that Utley, Howard and Werth couldn’t score a run in with 0 outs.

Mike Nitabach says:

The Japanese broadcast just showed the Philly Phanatic knocking some dude in a boxer outfit out, and was declared the Heavyweight Champion of the World!

Klemy says:

Thta pitch was wayyyy low.

Joe D. says:

Perhaps a bit early for this, but…

how many pitches do you let CC go tonight, max?

Cap the pitches a bit just in case or go nuts?

I think you go for the jugular and let him go 125 if he’s looking good enough, no doubt.

What say you?

Joe D. says:

Add’l Info: CC at 88 pitches right now.

V says:

If he can, he finishes the 7th. Pitch count be damned.

If they’re low stress pitches then 120 all the way. Otherwise maybe 100 or 110.

BigBlueAL says:

Yup, dont worry about Game 7 because if we win tonight you would hope no need for a Game 7.

JGS says:

nah, this is pretty high stress

Evil Empire says:

Girardi said 110-120, which sounds right to me. Game 7 you gotta let him go 130-140 if the situation calls for it.

Accent Shallow says:

Maybe, but who knows if he’ll be effective in Game 7 at that many pitches.

Jose says:

Remember David Cone in Game 5 of the 1995 ALDS? He was around 150 pitches in that elimination game.

V says:

Man, that sadistic redhead is hot!

Souter Fell says:

this umping is atrocious

Redeem yourself Jorge by providing a run to make up for that run that shouldn’t have been a run.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Terrible swing Posada.

Evil Empire says:

Jorge needs to shut the fuck up right now. He’s put his 2 cents in. Now he needs to deal with it before he gets Jose Molina in this game.

Ed says:

Yep. We don’t need Molina in there in a close game.

e mills says:

Cano’s hitting a HR right now

JMK aka The Overshare says:

I’ll be happy if he doesn’t embarrass himself.

e mills says:

JackC says:

Posada’s had a rough couple of games

bobtaco says:

If you are Blanton, why not just keep throwing that low and away shit, it keeps getting called a strike regardless

Mike Pop says:

Cano breaks out here.

Klemy says:

I think if anyone is due, it has to be Robbie?

DontChaknow says:

How did that homeless chick get such good tickets?

Accent Shallow says:

Blanton is the sort of pitcher it looks like Cano should rip.

Mike Pop says:

Nice rip from Robbie there.

V says:

JackC says:

Best AB by Cano in a while

bobtaco says:

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Oh well. If nothing a good AB for Cano.

Souter Fell says:

cano, slam it out of here

Souter Fell says:

im no slappy white

slappy white says:

just keep callin em…sooner or later somebody hits one and your praised by all

Klemy says:

If that’s not pine tar on Blanton’s hat, he’s spitting chew on it between innings.

JGS says:

Brazilian Yankee says:

He hit that hard, that’s progress.

slappy white says:

another Swisher homer here

slappy white says:

JackC says:

Love that hustle, Robbie

V says:

Man, he smoked that.

Accent Shallow says:

Well, at least Robbie hit the ball hard.

PsiFighter37 says:

Please sit Robbie down after the game, Kevin Long.

Dela G says:

man we are so close to that bullpen

i can smell it

Mike Pop says:

i can smell it

They stink!

Jay says:

So Blanton gets praise for doing what he’s supposed to do. Jeebus.

Evil Empire says:

Getting just one more insurance run would be sweet.

Salty Buggah says:

I think FOX is turning up the stadium mic on purpose. I can hear everyone clearly. I think they turned down YSII too.

(Kidding, mostly.)

JMK aka The Overshare says:

What’s Cano’s BA now? .050something?

Klemy says:

He and Tex are trying to add up to .100

JMK aka The Overshare says:

That was a strike?!

Brazilian Yankee says:

That 2-0 pitch to Swisher might be the worst called strike of all time.

V says:

I want CC up to bat this inning, so Joe isn’t tempted to PH in the top of the 7th.

Matty Ice says:

I know it was mentioned in the last comments thread, but there’s no doubt in my mind Blanton is cheating. Look how he tweaks the smudge spot with his thumb and index finger after he rubs it.

JMK aka The Overshare says:

No need to get into conspiracy theories.

Mike Pop says:

bobtaco says:

If I was Girardi, I would ask the umpires to make him change his hat, or at least check it. If nothing else, it messes with his rhythm.

Accent Shallow says:

I dunno, it’s not like his pitches have crazy movement on them.

Mike Pop says:

Swish back to walking.

DreDog says:

Melky’s going deep! The Melk Man will deliver!

Evil Empire says:

Nice job by Swish. Let’s see Melky do something big right hurr!

Salty Buggah says:

Cmon Melky slamma-lama-ding-dong!

Souter Fell says:

seems the only low pitches guaranteed for balls have to kick up dirt

Joe D. says:

Hell yeah, Swish.

Very well done.

Brandon says:

I cannot believe this strike zone tonight. Not because its huge (because it is), but because it is so inconsistent.

Brandon says:

I’m holding my breath every pitch because I don’t know if its going to be called or not

Accent Shallow says:

Come on, Melky. Time to earn immunity from RAB bashing you for the winter.

claybeez says:

Already earned. Doubt he’ll get it.

Mike Pop says:

Melky’s got this shit.

crapula says:

tweet from badbanana: why is everyone on that baseball team wearing a Jay-Z hat?

JoeFromBayRidge says:

This isn’t being negative, but Melky getting out could make the decision to go to the bullpen after 6 innings from CC a lot easier….

V says:

No, no, no. CC > bullpen.

Ed says:

Making him work this inning if nothing else.

Klemy says:

Melky holding the hammy.

Accent Shallow says:

Nice D there from Howard/Blanton, although maybe they should have been a little more careful.

ansky says:

oh shit…did Melky pull up lame?

Pasqua says:

Ummmm…was Melky grabbing his hamstring at the end of that play?

Jay says:

Was Melky reaching for his hamstring there?

Ed says:

Was Melkey holding his hamstring?

Evil Empire says:

Big 3 outs for CC right here. Only 9 innings to Mo.

nathan says:

Hammy? Damn.. not good… Buck missed it

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Someone screencap that last shot of Blanton.

There was something strange on it.
