Eric Duncan lands with the Braves

By

Via Baseball America’s minor league transactions, former Yankee first round pick and New Jersey’s own Eric Duncan has signed a minor league deal with the Braves. E-Dunc hit .242-.320-.400 in six-plus years since being selected 27th overall in 2003, and was easily New York’s best prospect in the mid-aughts. I wish him nothing but the best.

He may have a shot to do something….hope he makes it to the majors.

I remember when he was first drafted, the initial reports on him compared him to Chipper Jones. Well, so much for that. Atleast he can be on the same organization as Chipper now.

I really did think he was a decent prospect, who lacked very good power for his position and the Yankees wanted to make him a power hitter, which led to his swing being all messed up. He seemed to have a good approach at the plate early in his career, that somehow deteriorated it seems.

Oh well, wish him the best of luck.

I wish him all the success in the world but at a certain point, he’s the one who needs to make adjustments. Power hitter/contact hitter, whatever. He just didn’t get it done. That’s how it is with prospects. That said, I hope he can find his stroke in Atlanta. There’s a poster on here who claims that he met Duncan’s parents recently. Said they were nice folks.

      Again, best of luck, Eric.

I remember when we could have had Torii Hunter for Duncan, Matt DeSalvo, and Andy Phillips.

      Ah, those were the days.

I wish him nothing with the best.

Ha, you would Axsia. I on the other hand wish him only hardship and trouble. In fact, I wish hiis career spirals into Hell and he’s left on the streets alone and penniless. Just because I’m mean that way.

      With should be but.

Wake me when Shelley Duncan signs with a team. Screw Eric. Nah, just kidding…Or am I?

Apparently, he had astigmatism for a while, and it only recently got corrected.

This is why i believe AFL hitting stats are overrated.

Always wanted it to work for Eric with the Yankees, now maybe it will with the Braves.

    Good luck to Eric Duncan!

Good Luck to Eric. It’s got to be frustrating having enough talent to become a professional ballplayer and falling just short of becoming a major leaguer.

More proof that the Yankee Talent evaluators and that of the “real world” are worlds apart. Makes you wonder what we really have in the minors. Just look at the latest hype’d up guys in our rotation (hughes, joba) what a joke to count on those two.

      um, ok.

first off, E-Dunc is pre-Oppenheimer. so there’s that.

second, you’re comment about Hughes/Joba is pretty dumb. but then again, the whole post was dumb.

but keep the wisdom coming, the FO would love to hear your ideas.
