That’s a good point Steve H. about Montero’s playing time at catcher versus designated hitter. If Montero can give the Yankees 1,000+ extra PA as a DH opposed to catcher, is it really worth wearing him down behind the plate?

LOL at Fogerty vs. Montero in CF dkidd. Hopefully Montero doesn’t need to beg for playing time .

At what point does his offense outweigh his position scarcity if he can stay at C? Even if he is good enough to stay at catcher, do we want him catching 120 games a year and losing his bat 25% of the time, or do we want him to have less value at a different position but regain that value by playing 155 games?
