He's not saying Joba can't be an effective MLB starter, he's just expressing the opinion that he thinks Hughes will be the better MLB starter, in 2010, of the two of them. He's not saying he's giving up on Joba or that Joba can't make it. He has the fastball, curveball and cutter, and I believe the changeup will be a quality pitch." Okay, while he does have those pitches, he's been in the Yankee system for 2 more years than Joba. He's also spent most of that time in the minors, able to work on secondary pitches. Joba's been the opposite, his first year in professional ball was capped up by a spot on the Yankees.
