Wang's top priority is definitely to become fully healthy again, & that means staying away from the Yankees & their "rehab" program.

There's no way in hell that Alan Nero will subject his client to another round of medieval quackery, as in when Wang was told in the 2008 off-season by the Yankees to NOT work on conditioning his legs.

There will surely be teams in contention, midway through the 2010 MLB season, which will crave starting pitching. Pedro is living testimony to this point & to believe that a starting 5 pitching staff on any team will go through a season without injuries is the rare exception.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Wang ended up with an AL rival & helped them into the post-season at the expense of his old team?

They say talk is cheap, but so is being non-tendered by the NYY...

Wang's 1st priority is to get well. His 2nd priority is pitching consistently. If he doesn't do that, no team in the majors will offer him a contract.

If he comes back to his old form, the Yankees will be one of the teams that will go after him. His sinker is one the best in baseball and a double play pitcher is hard to come by.

His peripherals actually didn't change much from his great 2006 to 2008 (until his freak injury). Strikeouts went up, GB rate was similar, WHIP was still 1.3, same number of HR/AB. I think last year was him coming back a bit too early (and since when is wanting to play a problem?) Statistically, 2008 was shaping up to be his best year, too (though the ERA didn't show it), so I think that once his mechanics are tweaked, he'll go back to the guy who pitches 200 innings with a sub-4 ERA (which is easily worth more than the 4 to 5 million they could have tendered him for)

I think that he'd actually be better now than in 2006 (if he gets his sinker back) since the Yanks finally have a legit 1B who can field, and Cano has made strides at 2B.

and Joe Dumbardi didn't help matters when he put Wang's rotation spot on the line ... after they prohitibited him work on his leg strength in spring training ... so he tried to compensate more and more by throwing harder with his arm .. and messed up his shoulder. He deserves better and should go to a classier org such as the Dodgers with Torre and Mattingly.

I think that the problem was tha Wang was trying too hard to become a strikeout pitcher to quiet his critics and prove that he was an ace. In reality, that is exactly what he should not have done ... who cares if you strike out 1 or none per game, if you have an ERA under 3 and your teammates field their positions.
