Yanks want the coaching staff back
ByThe Yankees have made no official announcements regarding their 2010 coaching staff, but according to Marc Carig, the team “told entire coaching staff that they’d be offered jobs again.” Hitting instructor Kevin Long is already under contract for next year, while Tony Pena, Rob Thomson, Mike Harkey, Dave Eiland, and Mick Kelleher remain in limbo. It’s good to know the Yanks want that crew back. The question now is of whether the parties agree on a price.

I was confused as to which one to comment under…
But this is good news. I think they have a great group of coaches right now.
Yeah, this one. My bad. Oops.
Hey, no complaints here. You guys are on top of shit. There’s no such thing as too many posts on RAB.
Heh, both of ya at the same time.
Everyone back. But Harkey needs to improve on his putting-his-hat-in-the-air-to-let-the-manager-know-the-pitcher-is-ready technique.
Why wouldn’t number 1. the Yankees want them all back after having a terrific season, and 2. If i was a coach i wouldn’t care how much i get as long as i winwinwin.

Sure, winning is a big factor. But if your current team doesn’t want to give you a raise and another team loves the work you do and offers to double your salary, I’m pretty sure you’d listen.
a World Series share probably doubles your salary too. just sayin’
+1
well true that to what Keanu Reeves says, but i’d rather stay on a winning team than a team that can pay me more money that doesn’t win.
Also it’s the Yankees who wouldn’t want to coach for them
Well…until the Boss stopped running the show, people who didn’t like getting fired.
Boston’s coaches work for free. They just want to be able to say they shared a locker room with Casey Kelly.
They get paid in autographed pictures of all teh uber-prospects:
Kelly, Anderson, Westmoreland et al.
I thought Peter Gammons paid them all with his royalty checks.

Haha. 21 used albums starting at 19 cents.
Or, in other terms, roughly the value of Jason Varitek.

Have you ever had millions of dollars waved in front of your face?
He’s probably 14, so his current earnings are roughly that of Rebecca’s (burrrrn. She knows I keed, though).
1) Just because they had a great season overall does not mean all of the coaches did well. The Yankees had a terrific season with Brian Bruney on the roster.
2) You must be an awesome financial advisor to bearded men with little discernible talent.
as much as I want Pena back I feel bad that he doesn’t get more consideration, I really thought he was perfect for the Indians. Its kind of like all the years watching Willie get passed over, except Pena actually did manager before, and did well.
