A-Rod’s 500th home run ball sells for $103,579
ByOne day, maybe I’ll have this kind of money to spend on a baseball. Alex Rodriguez‘s 500th home run sold in an anonymous online auction last night for $103,579. I’m wondering the same thing as Big League Stew’s Kevin Kaduk: did A-Rod himself buy the ball? He earned $28.5 million that year, $27 million in salary and a $1.5 million bonus for winning his third MVP award under the old contract. The ball would have cost him four-tenths of a percent of his salary that season. At that point, why not?

The centaurs have it, don’t they?!

That’s just awesome. I wish I had Photoshop skills; I’d make an epic battle scene of CentauRod and Skeletor (Madonna).
That would be unreal.
That would be unreal.::Head Explodes::I was there that day. Woo!
I BOUGHT THE BALL!!!!!!
BWAAHAHAHA
Gonna put an asterisk on it and mail it, postage due on delivery, to Barry Bonds.

My wife and I went to four games that week, trying to see him hit that homerun. We were there for the game where the Yankees hit EIGHT homeruns, but A-Rod did not hit one of them. He ends up hitting 500 on the first pitch he saw the next day…but we were in the car driving to her parents. First pitch.
Dems the breaks. You just can’t predict baseball.

Moral of the story: your wife likes baseball too. She’s thus awesome.
Baseball loving woman are so, so much better than the alternative. Whenever I first meet a chick, one of the first things I do is take them to a game. If they can’t go nine innings without annoying the shit out of me, they’re gone.
Do you pay for her ticket? Because that would be one sweet setup: free game even before the relationship has much traction.
+1
I bet Alex did buy the ball. And had sex with it.

how could you possibly have sex with a……..nevermind….i dont want to know
I’d bid on the videotape to find out.
I think that ball was given to Madonna.
He’s at 583, so he’s only 17 away from entering a much more tony neighborhood, although with Sosa on the same street, it’s not as exclusive as it once was. Perhaps 600 HRs is the new 500.
