It's perfectly acceptable that the author (Andy in Sunny Daytona) be skeptical as I sited no source within the Pirate's as relating the story to me. It just happens to be the one that many of the sports writers have mentioned again again during the bonds era and after. Basically I heard it so many times I forgot there was a need to prove that I was not making it up. I could only confirm through searches that he did indeed have a ball sold on qvc.
