It would give the teams more incentive not to just mail it in after april every year. And then even if your team is completely out of the playoffs, the end of the season becomes a playoff race to not be banished next year. of course...this would completely disrupt baseball developmental league system and the talent levels between AAA and the Majors is huge (excluding the pirates?)...but I digress...
