Red Sox fan set to direct Yankee wife-swapping tale
ByIn one of the stranger baseball sex stories around, Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich, two journeyman pitchers from the late 1960s/early 1970s, owned up to wife-swapping while the two were members of the 1972 Yankees. Now, Ben Affleck, one of the most well-known Red Sox fans around, is going to direct and star in a film adaptation of the wife-swapping tale. According to the rumors, Matt Damon, another movie celebrity/Red Sox fan, will co-star in the flick, and the two will play Peterson and Kekich respectively. Dave Mandel, of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm fame, has been tabbed to pen the script, and the movie will be called The Trade. I see what they did there. (Hat tip to BBTF.)

I imagine this will be a better movie than Fever Pitch
What is the thought-process of every member of the movie-going public before watching any movie since the release of Fever Pitch in 2005?
/Jeopardy’d
Affleck wanted to make it into a full length version of his directorial debut, but Damon convinced him otherwise

I…I…
AFFLECK, YOU THE BOMB IN PHANTOMS, YO!
/hopes he beat TSJC
Hopefully Affleck doesn’t have a speaking role.
Surely Affleck and Damon remember that the day Dennis Eckersley was traded to the Red Sox in 1978 was the same day his wife told him she was leaving him for best friend and Cleveland teammate Rick Manning. I could see Affleck as Eck and Damon as a convincing Rick Manning. Maybe Jennifer Lopez as Eck’s wife? But, sure thing, Kekich and Peterson were a whole lot more interesting, expecially Fritz.
Are Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson the only movie star Yankee fans?
Billy Crystal
…while a supposed Yankees fan, Crystal appears in the 1986 doc about the Mets (“A Year To Remember”) in clips at Shea, wearing a Mets cap. As a result, I have been dubious of his allegiance (despite his stories) since I was 10 years old.
Denzel Washington and I’m sure there’s many many more.
Jack Nicholson refused to wear a Red Sox hat for The Departed. That’s awesome.
Sarah Jessica Parker. Bruce Willis.
+1 for Jack
True story—Sarah Jessica Parker is a real-life centaur. There’s a reason they call her “horseface.”
It’s a virtual lock A-Rod will marry her after Broderick dumps her for some girl working at a Chik-Fil-A.

Ha. Don’t know if Rainn’s a Yankee fan but I came across that and laughed.
There’s also an SWB Yankees magnet on the vending machine in the show.
Soooo many people who write for/are on that show are Red Sox fans
You all probably know this already, but Ken Tremendous from Fire Joe Morgan is Michael Schur, who wrote for The Office before he left for Parks and Recreation. He played Dwight’s cousin Mose, too.
Lady Gaga. Oh, and I believe Sandler is a Mets fan.
Nah I’m pretty sure Sandler’s a big Yankees fan.
Sandler is a big Yankees fan. Maybe you’re thinking Kevin James.
I heard that Jay-Z is a Yankee fan also. But, I have no official confirmation on this.

So which wife will Matt Damon be?

Ohh…saucy.
Am I alone in loving that this will most likely mean the two “biggest” Red Sox fans will have to wear Yankees Uniforms?
I hope the Yankees block this and make them wear the uniforms from “Bang The Drum Slowly”.

It is? It works for me.
I am actually a big fan of Affleck’s directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, and am sure that many of you are fans of Damon’s acting. An interesting story that is written by presumably good writers, an excellent actor will play one of the co-leads, and a director that I am a fan of? Yeah, I’m definitely interested.
Agreed. I was surprised that Gone Baby Gone was actually pretty good. Of course, I also love the Bourne series.
The Ocean series was also pretty good.
both were actually good in Good Will Hunting, which i thought was one of the best movies of the ’90s
Jimmy Fallon has to be in this, right? Maybe they can grab other untalented SNL retreads for some other roles. Tracy Morgan?
Horace Clarke, or Mel Stottlemyre.
I hope he spoke to my lawyers first.
There are no bigger morons than Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Absolutely awesome idea…
Greetings to BK from WK’s west coast friend
A Blast from the past.
