Yankees defense >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sox defense tonight

CC and Tex being good players > TEH GRIT

    lol he was so safe

  7. Mike Axisa says:

Thanks for sliding into first Dustin.

  8. A.D. says:

If Pedroia didn’t dive he’s easily safe

  9. kaka says:

    the little hobbit is mad

  10. slappy white says:

god I wish CC would have stepped on that troll

  11. BigBlueAL says:

  12. Bill in Boston says:

elfy is just a little too short :)

  13. Tank the Frank says:

    New season. Same crybaby bullshit.

  14. Alex S says:

hahaha Pedroia was so pissed there. he threw his fist up like he was about to punch the ump

  15. Jose says:

I forgot about the madness of game threads. I’ve missed you baseball.

  16. Hughesus Christo says:

Look at us utilizing speed and defense

  17. Taintstick says:

HAHAHAHAHA. Midget prick douche got outsprinted by Usain Sabathia.

EAT HEARTY! FOR TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!

  18. T-Dubs says:

Hahahahaha, he looked safe but he almost molested the 1st base ump.

  19. ROBTEN says:

So, Morgan just asked Girardi how they will replace the offense of Matsui and Damon…uh, really?

  20. A.D. says:

Though if he doesn’t dive, probably run over by CC

  21. Tank the Frank says:

Good work by YES. He was out.

  22. JobaWockeeZ says:

    He was out. Good call.

  23. jimmy says:

He gets so cute when he’s mad.

  24. Pedroia’s face looked ape-like when he got up.

  25. Vinny the Bull says:

    Sit down, bald man.

  26. Matty Ice says:

CC almost squashed Pedroia like a bug.

Is it bad I was kinda hoping for that?

  27. Michael Kay tonight:

1.) The “human element” is ridiculous bullshit
2.) Sliding into first is dumb

Kay’s bringing the truthbombs tonight. I’m proud of that crazy, carbon monoxide breathing fucker.

  28. Steve H says:

The Yankees should start taking it easy on Beckett. The last thing we want to do is have to face their bullpen.

  29. YankeeScribe says:

A-Rod looks like a First baseman

    /ESPN’d

  30. Ryan says:

    Lol. Pedroia’s reaction was hilarious.

  31. ShuutoHeat says:

Awww, the lil elf is pissed.

    Sabathia 2, Pedroia 0.

  32. dkidd says:

    nice shutdown inning, cc

  33. JeffB says:

    YOUK

  34. Nice quick inning. I like it.

  35. Tank the Frank says:

    Cruise. Control.

  36. That commercial reminds me of “Tell ‘em, Steve-Dave!”

  37. Dela G says:

    i am loving this game

    like a lot

  38. WIlliam says:

Who get’s the RBI on a steal of home?

  39. Brad Toughy says:

Terry Francona rockin’ the Harry Potter glasses.

  40. JobaWockeeZ says:

A non-struggling CC and the Yankees offense on all cylinder makes me very very very surprised and happy.

  41. Riddering says:

This season is starting off just fine for me.

  42. Things I’ve learned from the first four innings of the game:

    1) White guys can’t grow beards
    2) Don’t slide into first
    3) If you slide into first, don’t hope that CC Sabathia is the one covering because he will crush you like a bug
    4) Small white guys get angry in a funny way

    • Matty Ice says:

      1) White guys can’t grow beards

Or they can, can and get mange (like Schoenweiss)

  43. Taintstick says:

If you plan on voting anything except 10 on tomorrow’s confidence poll, please send me your home address. Thanks in advance.

  44. dkidd says:

    tex looks like david archuleta

    get a haircut, hippy!

  45. Alex S says:

question. Cliff Lee is starting the season on the 15 day DL, does his 5 game suspension count into those days? or will he have to serve them when he comes back off the DL?

  46. Matty Ice says:

would like to see Beckett’s PC hit triple digits and for him to be knocked out of the game this inning.

  47. Bob Stone says:

This game is awesome. MAN, I have missed this so much. Thanks to RAB, I surveved the offseason.

  48. Shouldn’t the moment thing line up with the day? That makes infinitely more sense.

A big moment for Flash? Try the only big moment for Flash.

    • bexarama says:

this, I was very very confused

Plus they kinda forgot what everyone remembers from that game. OH WHAT A PLAY BY DEREK JETER!!!!!

    • T-Dubs says:

one of my favorite regular season games ever though. I was in a state of poor euphoria when I thought the Yanks turned a triple play in like the 10th, or whenever that was.

  49. bexarama says:

I really like these new graphics I gotta say.

  50. Bill in Boston says:

according to NESN a-rod earned his pinstripes in ’09 and became an official yankee

  51. Yea, protecting guys’ arms is stupid. You’re totally right, Al!

    /boversimplified

  52. Dela G says:

how many pitches is beckett at? 500?

  53. bexarama says:

    0-for-3? what a bum

  54. Manimal says:

Its like this game is a continuation of the playoffs, I like what I see from the whole team right now. Everything is in sync.

  55. WIlliam says:

Arod and Tex are on noti…Canooooo.

  56. Accent Shallow says:

    What a rocket.

  57. Nice play by Drew.

But he totally sucks, right Sox fans?

  58. Hummingbird S. says:

    well played by JD there

  59. whozat says:

Ok, THAT was not OK Robby.

  60. Tank the Frank says:

    Wow JD Drew.

  61. Dela G says:

    cano is a murderer

  62. Drew says:

    Cano = MVP!

  63. T-Dubs says:

Cano is going to win the MVP this year. Mark it.

  64. Vinny the Bull says:

Note that in a thread two weeks ago I called that Cano would finish top 5 in MVP voting. Remember that in 6 months.

  65. danny says:

“cano forgot what ballpark he was playing in.”

    screw you.

  66. Mister Delaware says:

David Eckstein wouldn’t hit the ball that far, but if he did, he’d be on second right now.

    /baseball writer’d

  67. Cano’s a better hitter, Pedroia’s a better hitter.

  68. Mike Axisa says:

Cano could fall out of bed in December and hit line drives over people’s heads.

  69. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

wow..i love Robbie Cano and yankees and Yes but can’t we wait for little more than first 5 innings of season to crown him MVP?

    • bexarama says:

      heh

it’s kinda nice to see people overreacting in a good way than overreacting in a bad way

Also I love your name, and you’s a hottie Al Leiter!

  70. ROBTEN says:

I think that the way Drew played the ball, Cano would have been out. So, let it go ESPN.

  71. bexarama says:

    INSIDE THE PARK HR JORGE

the grammar goes out the window when drunk.

    • Accent Shallow says:

The only way that would happen would be a Cameron/Ellsbury collision, and Drew twists an ankle running over there.

  72. slappy white says:

Does everyone get to see the “Cougar Life” add or is that just for me ?

  73. Dela G says:

orel should shut the hell up

  74. Matty Ice says:

Dustin Pedroia makes better cookies, snacks and Christmas Presents than Cano.

  75. Cano will win Rookie of the Year.

/Writers who voted for Edinson Volquez.

  76. E-ROC says:

ESPN is murdering Cano for being on 2nd right now. Sheesh.

  77. nathan says:

The ESPN announcers are ragging Cano for not going to 2nd base… i dont think he had time for that…

but Orel is really grating my ears…

  78. T-Dubs says:

It’s hilarious when they show women’s basketball players wearing normal clothes.

  79. If Cano is running hard out of the box, Drew throws him out. Shut up ESPN.

  80. Ryan says:

Damn. 93 pitches already? Who’s the slow starter in April now?

  81. BigBlueAL says:

ESPN just showed stat that since Cano’s debut in 2005 he is 2nd in AVG and 1st in HR and RBI of all American League 2B.

  82. Jose says:

Jorge just pointed to himself indicating to Beckett it was him who called time. Classy.

  83. Dela G says:

    great eye jopo

  84. Drew says:

Hey Josh, sit this one out.

  85. dkidd says:

love the way our line-up works a pitcher

  86. BigBlueAL says:

How is this Yankees offense gonna score any runs this season w/o Damon and Matsui!?!?

  87. nathan says:

If Pedroia did a Cano and didnt take the 2nd base… then it was a “good baseball instincts” by Pedroia… racist B-a-s-t-a-r-d-s

  88. Nick Johnson single-handedly forces Beckett out by seeing so many pitches.

  89. Mike Axisa says:

That’s right Sox fans. Clap for Beckett. He really deserves it.

    • Jose says:

So if CC had a bad day at Yankee stadium you wouldn’t clap?

      • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Eh, wouldn’t boo but I definitely wouldn’t give him much of an ovation.

        • Jose says:

You guys are tough fans. I almost always clap no matter what. Everyone likes some encouragement, especially on a bad day.

          • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Yeah you’re right. Idk. If he was just off, and not god-awful, I’d applaud. He deserves it.

  90. Mister Delaware says:

Good thing they saved their ace for Tuesday.

  91. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Let’s go Granderson!

  92. Souter Fell says:

ahh, gotta love knockin a pitcher out in the 5th, i so missed this

  93. slappy white says:

Schoenweiss looks like this redneck we had to kick out of the bar last night…..What happens to these guys when they sign with Boston ?

  94. Hummingbird S. says:

C-Grand against the lefty, I have a feeling he’ll drive in a run.

  95. ROBTEN says:

I hope that YankeesJunkie took my advice to drop Beckett in the OT thread.

  96. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

What a day, I gave my offering of brains to Zombie Jesus, I taught my niece had to jump rope, Brett Gardner stole home and Beckett doesn’t go 5. Sweet day all around.

  97. bobtaco says:

    Let’s see Granderson’s first real test against a lefty…

  98. bexarama says:

Schoenweis, Schoenweis, bless my homeland forever

    anyone else? no? ok

  99. Matty Ice says:

Girardi should really bring in Thames here.

    /ESPN’d.

  100. Jake H says:

Hey Josh why don’t you go up and sign that extension

  101. dkidd says:

schoeneweis pitching on easter is a conspiracy

    mel gibson’d

  102. Drew says:

If the game ends as it stands right now. What will be the bigger over reaction, Yankee fans/writers for winning, or Sox fans/writers for losing?

  103. WIlliam says:

    Who is this guy?

  104. Mike Axisa says:

Oh come on Curtis. Sell that shit.

  105. Vinny the Bull says:

    Pitching and defense.

  106. Hughesus Christo says:

    GRANDERSON CAN’T HIT LEFTIES!

  107. bexarama says:

I dont get why they kept Schoendude but not Shouse.

  108. I love how the Sox “upgraded” defensively by replacing Varitek with V-Mart.

  109. Dela G says:

man who knew schoenweis lost his wife

    man that’s sad

  110. Mike Axisa says:

I don’t understand, why wasn’t Cano hitting righthanded?

    /pistol pete’d

  111. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Granderson can’t hit lefties!

    /msm’d
    /probably reality

  112. The Sheepmeister says:

and the bullpen has matched beckett’s k total for the night after one batter.

  113. Love the DirecTV commercial with Jorge’s dad. Hahaha

  114. E-ROC says:

Granderson batting .000 versus LHP this season……….

  115. WIlliam says:

Girardi in that commercial was creepy.

  116. WIlliam says:

    Love the Imus commercial.

  117. Steve H says:

NESN was giving Drew the credit (correctly) on Cano’s single btw. Was just catching up on the comments and wanted to point it out. NESN didn’t question Cano’s hustle on it at all.

  118. How much does LeBron’s personal texter make and how do I apply?

  119. Drew says:

Please just talk about the game. Kay is the worst with tangents.

  120. bexarama says:

this game has been going on for two hours, we are not yet done wtiht the fifth inning

  121. Dela G says:

good to see big popup in mid season form

  122. danny says:

nice shot of the double steal by espn

  123. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

L & G, I bring you the opening day optimism from Boston fans in their forum.

    First: 6/6/2008
Last: 4/4/2010 I m going to bed. This was a bad disappointment. I would not be surprised if we got swept

  124. Oh peace, Adrian.

  125. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    The CChange

  126. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

    Get used to that, Boston.

  127. You see that little smirk as he walked towards third?

CC’s just fuckin’ with ‘em now.

  128. WIlliam says:

Beltre has a good changeup apparently.

  129. slappy white says:

CC is Cruising but he looks like hes up to 325

  130. Said in the last thread, repeated in this one:

    Boston’s 5-6-7:
    Ortiz, Beltre, Drew

    What Boston’s 5-6-7 should be:
    Drew, Beltre, Ortiz

  131. Ryan says:

Lol, just their 2nd hit of the night…

  132. That anecdote should just remind us one more time that Satchel Paige was the fucking man.

Also, CC’s change was worth 3.59 runs per 100 pitches. Baller.

  133. Accent Shallow says:

Gonna be getting in my car in a bit. First taste of Sterling/Waldman . . . oy vey.

  134. WIlliam says:

The Becket ace thing is really gonna bug me this whooole season.

  135. Dela G says:

man cameron wont swing at the schlop :(

  136. bexarama says:

I like Francona. I said it!!! He is the least douchey member of the Sox

  137. Taintstick says:

I prefer the free-swinging variety of Cameron over the sensible, selective variety.

  138. See what I said about Cameron’s gloves?? See?

    /repeated Star Trek’d

  139. Munson's Rent says:

    Singelton’s joke just bombed

  140. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Haha Morgan’s hysterical. Brought to you by MLB…(7 seconds later)…10 the show

  141. Mike Axisa says:

    WTF was that Brett?

  142. bobtaco says:

    Oh Gardy…

  143. Souter Fell says:

Brett, what the hell was that?

  144. E-ROC says:

    Gardner with a poor throw.

  145. Alex S says:

    horrific throw by Gardy

  146. Drew says:

And you guys hated Melky’s throws to the infield.

  147. The fuck was that, Brett?

  148. bexarama says:

    Gardner what was that =/

Also my mom is now having a heart attack

  149. dkidd says:

    extremely gritty throw

  150. JobaWockeeZ says:

They could actually tie it here.

  151. What the heck was that, Brett?

  152. Dela G says:

    wtf was that gritt

  153. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Really Brett?

  154. Vinny the Bull says:

    Bear down, CC.

  155. slappy white says:

    WTF Gardner?

  156. Matty Ice says:

I think Brett just hit the bull….

  157. whozat says:

    all around booooooooo

  158. Beamish says:

Gardner is now wondering if they are going to hand him a ticket to Scranton when he gets to the dugout.

  159. BigBlueAL says:

Damon would never have been able to throw the ball that far.

  160. It’s all good, CC will dispatch TacoBellsbury here in short order.

  161. bexarama says:

“Joe West is very fair.” That would be a no

  162. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Orel Hershiser is just viciously abusing the Yankees right now

    • nathan says:

i was wondering why they needed another b00b there… ESPN has a simple vetting process.. hate Yankees? Hired.. LOL

      • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Yep, that and an ability to shamelessly self-promote are the only pre-requisites

  163. My cousin is stupid. He just said the Yanks need Damon and Matsui based on Gardner’s horrible throw.

  164. E-ROC says:

Damn, Orel is stopping short of calling Gardner stupid after that throw. STF!

  165. nathan says:

A gem from Orel… “At moment of truth Gardner didnnt make a decisive decision” … can u make non-decisive decisions…

  166. Spaceman.Spiff says:

    Small ball! At Fenway Park!

  167. Taintstick says:

    Pimpin’ ain’t easy.

  168. Beamish says:

Gardner did not make a decisive decision.

    /Orel’d

And I thought Morgan was the idiot…

  169. Dela G says:

    ZZ with teh killah

  170. bobtaco says:

    CC. Total domination.

  171. ACC says:

    Sit em down!

  172. JobaWockeeZ says:

Alright good job CC. Let’s get some more runs.

  173. Doug says:

    CC drops the hammer.

    SICKNESS~

  174. Mike Axisa says:

    Abused. Thanks for coming, Jacoby.

  175. Hummingbird S. says:

    CC made him look silly

  176. Drew says:

    Sick fucking pitch.

  177. Vinny the Bull says:

Relax, folks. Four punchouts for the big guy.

  178. Tank the Frank says:

UCONN women could beat the Nets.

  179. How long do you let CC go? I say let him get through the sixth, then turn it over to the pen, playing the matchups.

  180. bexarama says:

yo CC Sabathia is a good pitcher, guys

  181. nathan says:

Did Yanks diss Orel or something in his playing days… or didnt sign him when they had a chance?… wheres this guy coming from…

  182. jimmy says:

Ellsbury isn’t so good at baseball.

  183. Ugh; I’m so sick of this Gardner bunting shit. He just wasted a good pitch with a stupid bunt attempt.

  184. danny says:

    teh sell outs!!!1!

  185. dkidd says:

you put up with gardner’s d in order to keep that bat in the line-up

    /bizarro world’d

  186. Vinny the Bull says:

Shucks. No 1.000 averages this year.

  187. nathan says:

Orel is doing the unbelievable… he is making Morgan seem listenable.. man.. is this the team we gotto put up with on Sunday nights… hope Yanks dont play many.. but i saw that atleast 5 more is possible… sigh

  188. bexarama says:

ok now let’s score off of one of their 1000000 Ramon Ramirezes

  189. Jake H says:

I need a button to just get the crowd noise.

  190. danny says:

i missed the gardner throw, was it really that bad?

  191. dkidd says:

    does derek run here?

  192. Dela G says:

man, jeter is making me look like a genius, picking him up in the 3rd round in fantasy

i have jetes, mauer, abreu, and cano

i will have a huge BA year

  193. WIlliam says:

What kind of avg would Jeter need to hit over a full healthy season to reach 3k hits this year?

  194. slappy white says:

That giant girl for Baylor is the creepiest looking creature ive ever seen

  195. Steve H says:

If Mikhail Prokhorov has his way, Mike Krzyzewski will be coaching his last collegiate game Monday night ve. Butler. Al Iannazzone reports that Prokhorov will waste no time once approved later this month and offer the Duke coach a contract worth between $12 and $15 million a year. Under one scenario, Krzyzewski would serve as both head coach and general manager.

Really? For a guy who has coached zero games in the NBA? Hell, I’d rather have Tom Izzo for $3 mil, who isn’t a great recruiter, but is a fantastic coach.

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Coach K can flat out coach. That being said, no NBA coach is worth that much money. They’re just not that important.

    • Spaceman.Spiff says:

But Coach K has strong ties with all the free agents this class from the Team USA games. Not that I think it’ll matter but it could come into play.

    • Mike Krzyzewski making two to three times as much as guys like Rick Adelman, Larry Brown, Mike Woodson, Mike D’Antoni, etc… that’s crazy.

      • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

It won’t happen. Coach K’s way too smart to leave what he’s got for a potential nutjob like Prokhorov, no matter how much he offers

  196. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

You know what’s crazy? No matter how bad the ESPN or YES team is, they will always be twenty times preferable to FOX

  197. Dela G says:

hahahahhaa i wonder what they called orel in the clubhouse

    prolly blow jobs

  198. WIlliam says:

CC to K-rob to Joba to Mo, perfection.

  199. danny says:

Mo help me, ESPN has been talking about nicknames for the past inning

  200. bexarama says:

    haha they’re explaining the cleats.

  201. Brad Toughy says:

They call Dustin Pedroia “Peedee” in the locker room and they call his brother “Pedo”

  202. Vinny the Bull says:

    Al Leiter’s Fashion Report.

  203. BigBlueAL says:

I think Girardi should start getting that pen going right about now.

  204. Munson's Rent says:

Nice Air Jordan IV’s by CC

  205. Mike Axisa says:

    CC’s looking a little gassed.

  206. whozat says:

Yeah, CC seems like he’s getting tired.

  207. BigBlueAL says:

CC should be wearing the Yankee Lebron’s.

  208. WIlliam says:

    Bring in Houdini!!!

  209. bexarama says:

    CC getting a little tired.

/repeating what everyone else is saying’d

  210. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Danger Will Robinson

  211. Tank the Frank says:

    Bad news bears.

  212. danny says:

    OMG
“with robertson up it shows yankee fans that joba has the eigth inning role.”

    -orel the idiot

  213. Drew says:

Do we have ourselves a game? Shut em down ZZ!

  214. Hummingbird S. says:

CC will get 2 more batters and he’s done

  215. Souter Fell says:

come on CC, remember you da man

  216. Let’s go, CC. Get Squirrel Beard.

  217. Vinny the Bull says:

    Fack Youk.

  218. Hummingbird S. says:

    No command of the fastball.

  219. Alright come back big time here, CC.

  220. Drew says:

    Let CC get Papi Joe.

  221. dkidd says:

luckily, david robertson is our “bases loaded no outs” specialist

  222. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Does anyone on the Sox have hair?

  223. slappy white says:

youkilis putting on his “tough guy” face makes me smile and remember him getting his ass kicked by a 20 year old skinny ass rookie last year

  224. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Nick totally misplayed that

  225. Dave says:

    ah fuck me

  226. Vinny the Bull says:

    Baaaad route, Swish.

  227. WIlliam says:

    Shit

  228. swisher's fauxhawk says:

Yeah. Get him out of there.

  229. whozat says:

    whoooops.

  230. V says:

CC is gassed. He’s being pulled a few batters late.

  231. :-/

    Swish played that poorly.

  232. TJ says:

    Fuck fuck fuck

  233. Munson's Rent says:

    fuck

  234. poster says:

Not good, but not entirely unexpected. No need to panic.

  235. dkidd says:

classy bostonian giving swish the finger

    what a crap city

  236. Mike Axisa says:

    Nice route, Swish.

    Facepalm.

  237. Drew says:

Ugh, Swish played that pretty terribly.

  238. danny says:

    /mass panic

  239. bobtaco says:

    Hey Joe, wake up buddy.

  240. bexarama says:

why is he still in? =/

  241. Souter Fell says:

    ugh, cc remembered its april

  242. whozat says:

I’m surprised Swish was playing in the gap if they were pitching youk away the whole at bat.

  243. YankeeScribe says:

    CC is out of gas

  244. charles poet says:

I guess I don’t see what Girardi sees. CC looked gassed in the 5th, after one batter in the 6th, why ws the pen NOT ready?

  245. Dr Van Nostrand says:

I dont see why you leave CC in for Youkilis in that situation

  246. Rhode Island Sawx Fan says:

    Not so fast my friends.

  247. danny says:

hmm think CC should have never started this inning? or is that just hindsight?

  248. This has to be CC’s last batter.

  249. WIlliam says:

    Good job Cano.

  250. Girardi is pulling a Torre.

  251. Beamish says:

    Is “cagily” even a word?

  252. Heads up play by Robbie. Real smart.

  253. A.D. says:

Nice by Cano to hold the runner.

  254. Hummingbird S. says:

Good play by Cano avoiding the bat and holding Youk at third.

  255. Mike Axisa says:

    Heads up play by Robbie.

  256. Really, really good job by Robbie holding Youkilis there.

  257. Vinny the Bull says:

Now, wait a minute. As far off as Youk was, why wouldn’t you throw to 3rd? And at least have the double play set up for Beltre?

  258. DCBX says:

Waldman sez “Joe Torre comes out to get Sabathia…”

    /facepalm’d

  259. WIlliam says:

Can lazily taking his time throwing to 1st.

  260. slappy white says:

Suzyn Waldman just said that Joe Torre was coming to take out CC. Shes in mid season form baby

  261. Reggie C. says:

Its Fenway. Shit like this is going to happen. And yeah, unfortunately it can happen on Opening Night.

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Exactly. Still a very solid first outing for the big man, just tired a little earlier than he will once his stamina’s built up.

    • bexarama says:

      NO THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BLARGH

      Whatevs.

  262. JobaWockeeZ says:

    A little too late IMO.

  263. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

If he was determined to go with CC against Youk, then the best play was probably to walk hik and face Ortiz with the bases loaded. Hope for a ground ball.

  264. gxpanos says:

To those people who think they should have pulled CC after 5, or had the bp ready:

It’s CC. Most of the time, he bears down and gets out of it. Sometimes, he doesnt. But because most of the time he does, he throws 4000 innings a year. General Joe did nothing wrong.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

It’s the first game of the season. CC is notorious for starting slowly. Most of the time he does get out of the situation but this early of the season I’d give it to the BP.

  265. Drew says:

    Chances D-Rob strands Youk at 3rd. >>>>100%

  266. V says:

I was hoping for an easier win, but I’ll take a sloppy W as long as it’s a W.

  267. bexarama says:

Suzyn Waldman called Joe Girardi Joe Torre

    Pasta diving Cano =/

  268. Alex S says:

    damn

  269. Mister Delaware says:

There is no way infield-in is a good percentage play.

  270. slappy white says:

John Drew ? really Sterling ? Damn

  271. Dave says:

Well at least my hatred for the Redsox has been renewed early this year.

  272. Time for a grounder, Dave. Still have three more ABs.

  273. charles poet says:

Well, our Ace went longer than their Ace. I guess that is a good thing.

  274. WIlliam says:

    Yankee BP>>>>>>>>>>>>>Red Sox BP

  275. V says:

New ballgame in the 7th if DRob gets out of this.

  276. mustang says:

    Normal Fenway game.

    Lots still to go

  277. Jake H says:

It’s the first game. Remember how crazy the media was with the Yankees losing the first 8 games to the Sox?

    • slappy white says:

I remember how crazy I was

    • BigBlueAL says:

You can be mad and upset about losing this game (if they lose it which I doubt they will) and not think the season is over or anything crazy.

      • whozat says:

True. But, I mean…CC didn’t execute a couple times, but you can’t pull him that early — he’s still your big guy, and he needs to get in gear, and you want him to face Ortiz. It’s not like there’s been systematic fail all over the field or anything.

  278. Silver lining:

My favorite part of the 2010 Red Sox season will be that the players the Sox faithful hate the most (Drew, Beltre, Cameron) will probably be among their best players, and the ones they love the most (Ortiz, Lowell, Beckett, Papelbon) will be letdowns.

  279. swisher's fauxhawk says:

    Eh, good job Robertson.

  280. bobtaco says:

    Yankees still win.

  281. WIlliam says:

Time for Tex and A-rod to hit.

  282. I will never get tired of that Avis ad. So awesome.

  283. Vinny the Bull says:

That Avis commercial never gets old.

  284. Three inning ballgame, baby.

  285. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

To be honest, CC pitched alot better tonight then I expected. I fully expected him to get knocked around just because it’s April and Fenway.

  286. nathan says:

ESPN had some cool graphics before the game… Fenway yields 1.3 hr/gm compared to 1.07 hr/gm in the league… a 36 degree arc is enuf to clear the green Monster… it will clear only 3 other ballparks and is a shallow popup in many of them… its atleast 30 ft closer to homeplate than league avg.. basically its a park where u can hv avg players and make them look pretty good

  287. poster says:

No worries. This was annoying, but not entirely unexpected or troublesome.

  288. Steve H says:

This is when we need Damon and Matuis.

    /dalelama’d

  289. dkidd says:

    we got this

    johnson/tex/alex are 0 for 9

  290. I’m smelling a Tex or A-Rod longball here.

  291. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Hmm…no bridge jumpers. I’m surprised.

  292. BigBlueAL says:

CC now doing a national Subway commercial along with Strahan. No Johan.

  293. Joe D. says:

Here comes Mr Unclutch A-Rod again y din’t ca$hman sign clutch beltre when he has teh chance this team sucks

  294. Tank the Frank says:

Yeah I would very much love for Teix to somehow reverse his early-season droughts.

  295. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Tex doin what he does

  296. Steve H says:

    Passing the baton’d

  297. WIlliam says:

    Let’s go Arod!!!!!!

  298. Here we go, Alex. Make ‘im pay for that walk.

    Much love to Gene Monahan.

  299. mustang says:

    hr

  300. Matty Ice says:

    And the Green Monster taketh….

  301. swisher's fauxhawk says:

    A-ROD!…….

    Just short….

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

I love that this comment is no longer an accurate reflection of Arod’s career.

  302. poster says:

    Nice, A-Rod!

  303. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Kate who?

  304. WIlliam says:

    Yeeeeeeeah, Arod was wropped.

  305. BigBlueAL says:

Ramirez sucks vs the Yankees. Then again most pitchers suck vs the Yankees.

  306. I’ll settle for a double.

  307. Hummingbird S. says:

Ugly wall robbed us of an A-bomb

  308. Mike Axisa says:

    That was smoked.

  309. Tank the Frank says:

    Friggin wall.

  310. Alex S says:

i totally called a HR there. but i’ll take a double

  311. Why did Ellsbury throw that to third? He had no shot at Tex. Bad play.

  312. Vinny the Bull says:

First test for Robbie with runners in scoring position.

  313. Souter Fell says:

ill take it, now lets get ‘em home boys

  314. JobaWockeeZ says:

Robbie gets an RBI. Book it. Then he’ll stop being unclutch in the eyes of the media. Okay maybe half of that will come true.

  315. Tank the Frank says:

    Okajima?

  316. danny says:

time for some robbie with risp over-reaction

  317. WIlliam says:

If Cano doesn’t drive in a run….I can only shudder.

  318. Mike Axisa says:

Oh noes, it’s Cano is RISPs!

  319. Ramon Ramirez, I hope you enjoy your continuation of your BABIP regression to the mean that started last July.

Baseball is a cruel, cruel bitch of a game, eh?

  320. Steve H says:

Cano with risp. uh oh. (jk)

  321. The guy in that Heineken ad is totally not good looking enough for the girl in it.

  322. Drew says:

    Come on Robbie!

  323. WIlliam says:

I’m a little sad CC can’t pick up a win though.

  324. mustang says:

We still have about 20 more lead changes.
    LOL

  325. This year’s in game box score is much, much better.

  326. dkidd says:

whatever happens, this at-bat will produce an overwrought “robbie cano with risp” narrative

  327. Gets the run in. I’m cool with it.

  328. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    And……here we go again

  329. WIlliam says:

    I’ll settle for that.

  330. Drew says:

    Yayy robbie! Midge ftl!

  331. Matty Ice says:

Mr. Hustle is no match for the midget.

  332. Souter Fell says:

    robbie got lucky there

  333. Cano with the situational RBI!

  334. BigBlueAL says:

Good at-bat Robbie, ill take it.

  335. bexarama says:

    good job Robbie

  336. poster says:

    Cano in scoring position=clutch.

  337. slappy white says:

good job by Robbie. thats all he needed

  338. Tank the Frank says:

Not really what you like to see but it gets the job done. Cano’s smoked the ball a couple times tonight.

  339. RBI Cano getting it done!

  340. dkidd says:

    pedroia = pesky
    tex = slaughter

    /1946′d

  341. danny says:

    baby steps

  342. Mike Axisa says:

Ballsy. I didn’t think Tex would go.

  343. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Cue TSJC…..

  344. WIlliam says:

    Hip-Hip-Jorge!!!!!

  345. danny says:

    woohoo!

  346. mustang says:

    love him just love him

  347. nathan says:

Lebron did call a 7-5 score in ESPN pregame…

  348. whozat says:

You know, Joe has stayed away from a lot of cliches tonight, and has had a bunch of insightful things to say about infield D. Kudos.

  349. Matty Ice says:

Posada is too old to play this game.

    /Media

  350. Dela G says:

    this offense is amazing

  351. Every AB vs. LHP is going to be a test, apparently.

  352. Steve H says:

Okajima had his worst season last year, and wasn’t all that good in Japan. Is he due for a correction?

  353. I propose Cano change his name to Ribbie.

  354. mustang says:

    Jesus who?

  355. slappy white says:

    Yanks answer like CHAMPIONS

  356. Steve H says:

Someone tell Curtis he’s a switch hitter.

  357. Vinny the Bull says:

    Nice rip, nasty pitch.

  358. That changeup was dirty; nice pitch Okajima.

  359. Jake H says:

Anyone else surprised that there isn’t more comments?

  360. Dela G says:

wow orel talking about the bugs bunny change

  361. Vinny the Bull says:

    Good take, Grandy. Good take.

  362. bobtaco says:

    Nice AB, CG

  363. WIlliam says:

    Grandy has passed the “test”.

  364. Way to work it, Curtis. Make up for that misplay in RF, Nick!

  365. I’ll take a walk against a lefty.

  366. bexarama says:

walks against LHP: we will take it

  367. Mike Axisa says:

    Grandy still can’t hit lefties!

  368. Souter Fell says:

    hit that wall swish

  369. Joe D. says:

SoSH on Jorge: “Come on, get f**king old already.”

  370. BigBlueAL says:

OMG, Granderson didnt strike out vs a LHP!!!!

  371. Drew says:

    Swishablast plz.

  372. Jon miller is an idiot! “Swisher the switch hitter coming up.” WTF is Granderson!?!?!? A lefty!?!?

  373. bexarama says:

these Yankees are just clogging the bases with those walks.

  374. Dammmmmmmmmit, that was it Swish. Oh well.

  375. Matty Ice says:

no pitch count for relievers? I know it isn’t as important for RP, but I still find it interesting.

  376. Steve H says:

Not sure if who else follows Schefter on twitter, but some idiot was harassing him today, saying that McNabb wasn’t going to be traded. Pretty funny stuff to check out.

  377. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Jeez, not that I’m saying the Red Sox are great, but can you imagine how long the innings are going to be when we play teams with really bad pitchers?

  378. Dela G says:

    good offensive inning

  379. BigBlueAL says:

Swisher fucked up just missing that 2-0 pitch.

  380. Dela G says:

    wow i love steve tyler

  381. danny says:

    ? hahah

  382. BigBlueAL says:

Who is that chick with Steven Tyler???

    • Dela G says:

      it looked like his daughter

that girl looked waaaay too much like him

    • ROBTEN says:

Probably a daughter, continuing the uncomfortable use of his daughters as attractive props. (see: Tyler, Liv in “Crazy” video).

  383. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

That girl has bad teeth. Just sayin.

  384. slappy white says:

Man on Heroin singing God bless america is not cool

  385. Tank the Frank says:

Guess Joba does have the 8th by default.

  386. bexarama says:

“he just SHOVES chocolate down peoples’ throats” -ummm.

  387. Vinny the Bull says:

Suppose that means that the 8th is Joba Time.

    /not surprised

  388. Vinny the Bull says:

Also, thoughts on Jack Curry being Bob Lorenz’s sidekick?

  389. Drew says:

Selig and Co. must be hating this game. It’s taking too long!

  390. Alright, CHP. Let’s bounce back from the 3-0 count and roll.

  391. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

I need to see a Chan Ho Park music video with him dancing to the music of Jai Ho, except clearly the Jai is changed to Chan

  392. Drew says:

    Pastalunging!

  393. Mike Axisa says:

    Settle Chop. Get a GB…

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

I know its just a play on his name, but every time I hear Chop i immediately think it’s a racial epithet

  394. WIlliam says:

Wow, effort by Cano. Someones mad about the lazy thing.

  395. WIlliam says:

Wow, sox paying 8.6 mil of Lugo’s salary. Just wow.

  396. Great pitch from Park on Taco.

  397. ROBTEN says:

That last pitch to Ellsbury was nasty.

  398. Mike Axisa says:

Chop’s fastball has some ridiculous run on it.

  399. Drew says:

Is Ellsbury really wearing #2? What in the world?

    • bexarama says:

apparently he said something like “it’s so everyone knows what number they are when they’re behind me”

  406. T-Dubs says:

oof, he molested that little pitch.

  407. swisher's fauxhawk says:

This is going to be an all-nighter.

  408. Dela G says:

So I already fuckin hate Chan Ho

  411. Holy shit did Park miss his spot on that one.

  412. Vinny the Bull says:

    That was sucky.

    We still win.

  414. charles poet says:

  419. Hummingbird S. says:

Chan Ho Park will be gone before this season is over, and that’s not based on this first game.

  420. Joe D. says:

Didn’t look like that bad a pitch, really. Oompa Loompa did a nice job on it.

  421. Over/Under: 4.5 bullpen panic articles tomorrow regardless of the game’s outcome.

    • whozat says:

      a) It’s stupid to decide about a move after one game
      b) It’s not like this move cost much at all.

  424. BigBlueAL says:

At least we have Joba for the 8th….

  425. bexarama says:

should this move to a new thread?

  426. Drew says:

    Way to be, West.

  427. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Yankees-Red Sox games in Fenway are just bad for your health. They don’t obey logic. A few years ago my Dad and I decided we would just stop watching Yankee games in Fenway. Sometimes I really wish we had stuck to that decision.

  428. Charlie says:

    fuckin chan ho park

  429. BigBlueAL says:

Joe Sheehan already ripping Girardi on Twitter for using Chan Ho:

Protecting a two-run lead on the road with your fifth-best right-handed reliever. Joe Girardi, everybody!

  430. I hate to say it, but I think I will hate Chan Ho Park by June.

  431. Reggie C. says:

    Another Cheapshot comment at Cano.

  432. Rhode Island Sawx Fan says:

    Wow, just wow!!!
    What a ballgame!

  434. Drew says:

Heh. Canobie showin off the arm.

  435. Dela G says:

damn v-mart is slow as shit

  436. Way to stay with it, Robbie. Just one more out, then score some more runs.

    Ugh.

  441. WIlliam says:

Give Joba a 4 out outing, take out Park.

  442. Not a wonderful debut for Chan Ho.

  443. nathan says:

Did we sign B Kim or CH Park… LOL… this is like the Chase Wright circa from 3 yrs back

  444. JeffB says:

    Thank God, ho is gone!
