Olney: Yanks still open for business
ByThe trade deadline is under an hour away now, but Buster Olney says the Yankees are still open for business. Like I said earlier, if they do make a move it won’t be anything major, probably just a utility infielder and/or a reliever. It’s quiet right now, so that means Brian Cashman is getting ready to pounce. I guess we’ll find out in 50 minutes or so.

What would we do without Buster’s insightful “Heard this” tweets.
Heard this: Stock phrases are a good fit for Buster Olney.
What about Brandon League/David Aardsma?
Sure, depending on price/No.

In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet.
And yet ice can be dry.
My mind: blown.
Hope the Yanks get Andy Marte. He’d be a great addition to the bullpen.
We already have Swish!
Klapisch saying the Yankees are going down to the wire.
Sounds like Cash isn’t done.
We’re still in on Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay.
Workin’ the phones, baby. We’re not going to let the fact that they’ve already been traded stop us from trading for them.
In related news, The Yankees would be interested in Josh Johnson if the Marlins made him available, Cashman would be willing to add payroll for the right player and no players are “untouchable” but some are more available than others.

hopefully tb doesnt get luke scott
I could be wrong, but didn’t the Yankees acquire Hariston Jr. right before the deadline expired last season?
Out post went up at 3:19 last year, so no. Close to the deadline, but not right before it.
Power of the archives!
Does anyone know why MLBN is saying Puma is batting cleanup tonight ? Is someone out ?
I heard that too. I think they’re full of shit, but…
Then here’s Chad from LoHud.
Berkman has arrived
Lance Berkman has arrived in Tampa. He’s scheduled to meet with the media at 4 p.m. Still no word on a lineup, but it seems safe to say it will not be the one Harold Reynolds just predicted on MLB Network.
Great minds…
I just finished a 47 hour work week.
I wouldn’t call my mind “great” right now.
subpar minds…
Yea, that’s about what it is right now.

ARod’s left the team, permanently. He’s decided to take his talents to South Beach.

From what I read (here) A-Rod is getting a night off.
Kerry Wood, Yanks are close according to Olney.
As long as the price is “a PTBNL or cash”, like Kearns, I’m good with that.
For Kearns and Wood combined, I’ll give the Indians 1M and Pat Venditte.
rather bring up Nova.
Ivan Nova has a slim-to-none chance of being a better situational reliever during this 2010 season than Kerry Wood.
Meh. He’s not the shutdown guy he was with Chicago, but he’s still useful. HE can blow guys away with his FB, but can get wild at times.
Kerry Wood? i like
The Ninja got to Wood! Who’s Next!
